This CD was approved conditionally to allow the developer of druids to test his own work though there is no actual entry about druidic magic or green druids on the site ! (Talia)

Name - Pikel Thunderstone

Gender - Male

Age - 53

Race - Gnome

Tribe - Daran

Occupation - Gardener

Title – The Green-Thumbed Gnome

Height - Slightly less than 1 Ped, 1 fore.

Weight - Approx. 70 od

Hair Color - Black

Eye Color - Very dark brown

Personal Appearance – Pikel’s somewhat chubby frame is a little over a ped tall. Due to a serious lack of proper personal hygiene, his tanned skin is almost perpetually dirt, much to the dismay of the nobility of his home city. He cares not for how his dirty, dark hair looks, so it is almost always quite disheveled. However, he does like to keep it relatively short, for it annoys him when it gets in his eyes. Remarkably, he is almost always clean-shaven, which baffles most who know him.

His dark eyes usually gleam with merriment, but they are capable of expressing a wide array of emotions. His lips are almost always split into a sort of half smile, making him often seem smug, although he cares far too little about other people to actually feel superior to them.

Clothes – All of Pikel’s extremely varied clothing he makes himself from foliage. He creates the garments from a single seed, using his magic. He prefers greens, with blooming flowers scattered throughout the outfit. The flowers are usually shades of red, pink, or purple, although he will occasionally go for bright oranges and yellows. Sometimes, he will wear an outfit that is completely bright in color, although this is rare, and it means that he is in a particularly good mood that day. Occasionally, he will wear dark colors, but this is only a random occurrence. Unlike the bright color situation, this has nothing to do with his mood, although people often speculate that it does, which annoys the gnome greatly.

He makes all of his clothing with his magic, so he uses said magic to make it extremely insulating, or extremely free, depending on the situation required. It is incredibly comfortable to him. Boots made of extremely soft moss on the inside and tough moss on the outside usually cover his feet, and thus are quite comfortable while at the same time being quite durable. Each of the articles of clothing, two boots and the body, are made from the previous day’s accoutrements, and thus have been the same essence for years. Because of all the practice he has done on the same three essences, it takes very little time at all for Pikel to change his clothing’s appearance.

Pikel has little to no modesty, and is thus not afraid to walk about the city completely naked. Fortunately for those who would rather not see a dirty naked gnome, Pikel quite enjoys his attire, and almost never takes it off.

Personality – One thing that people learn very quickly about this gnome is that he loves two things beyond anything else: people, and plants. If there is one thing he loves more than going to a tavern and spending time with numerous people, be they good friends or total and complete strangers, it is the tending and general care of plants.

Pikel’s love for plants began when he helped his mother tend to her garden, and was fostered under the green druids’ care. Pikel is at his absolute happiest when he is working his magic, cultivating the plants around him, showing their beauty to the world. It is for this reason that he spends a massive amount of his day merging with plants, shaping them to his fancies.

He has also found that this is a prime source of income, for many of the nobles of New-Santhala would pay vast sums to have the services of a druid of plants to shape them fantastic and awe inspiring gardens, especially if said druid uses his magic to make the plants take care of themselves, thus removing the need of constant watering and nurturing.

Pikel has made quite a name for himself with this profession, for he often makes unique plants, those unlike any that can be found in nature. While his job is quite lucrative, he keeps little of it for himself, or enough to pay for his nightlife. All the rest is donated to various organizations throughout the city.

If Pikel is not working with plants, then chances are he can be found in one of the many taverns that he frequents. Pikel loves spending time with people. He is always the one cracking jokes in the tavern, and also the one laughing the loudest at said jokes. He can also be found at the Great Library from time to time, helping the researchers there with their compendium.

Other than plants and his social life, Pikel has little care for anything. Not for the law, the welfare of others, or the troubles of the war that do not immediately concern his three cares. While not going out of his way to hurt people or break the law, if he does inadvertently, it bothers him not at all.

He tends to make friends quickly should he spend time with people, although peoples’ first impression of him is usually less than complimentary. This is because, quite frankly, Pikel is a very strange little fella. Through a few decades of living by himself, he has developed the nasty habit of speaking his thoughts aloud. Thus, it is impossible for him to lie, but it is also impossible for him to show tact. People often find it unnerving when he states his first impression of them TO them. This habit is so far ingrained in his psyche that he is not even aware that he is doing it.

Another reason people have a poor first impression of Pikel is the fact that he cares very little for his personal hygiene. Bathing isn’t an important part of his schedule at all, and will usually go weeks without cleaning his skin. Luckily for him, his clothing often gives out pleasing aromas that tend to block out any unpleasant scents coming off of the gnome’s body. However, aforementioned aromas do not block the dirty stains covering his body.

Every once in awhile Pikel finds the urge to leave his comfortable house in New-Santhala and travel far and wide. These travels often last a few months at least, and he always comes back home in great demand.

Strengths
Druidic Magic – Pikel is extremely well practiced in the use of his magic, especially his clothing. Thus, he is quite good at it. He mainly uses his talents to create awe-inspiring gardens, for vast sums of money. His clothing is also made with his magic, and that in itself is almost always a testament to his work and skills as a designer of plants.

Charismatic – After spending time with him, people often find that they quite enjoy this little gnome’s presence. The green thumbed gnome has a great deal of friends in not only New-Santhala, but also in the Almatrar, where he has druidic and elvish friends.

Money – Pikel has more money than he, living a simple life, would ever use. He donates the vast majority of it to charities and organizations throughout the city, but always keeps enough for himself to finance his night life, as well as a fund for any traveling he might do.

Weaknesses
Alcohol – Spending most nights in taverns, Pikel has developed a taste for booze, namely the strong gnomish drink, vhodkaa. While only a social drinker, Pikel is a very social person, which makes him a very drinking person. Anyone with a clear thought in their head, which unfortunately imbibers of this drink rarely do, knows that this can often lead to very bad things.

Mental Filter – As in there is none. Due to many years of living by himself, Pikel has developed the habit of saying every thought that passes through his waking mind. This includes first impressions. People often think that the small gnome is ‘evaluating’ them in their first meeting. What this also does is make it absolutely impossible for the gnome to successfully lie, for he states the truth and his thoughts at all times. Consequently, the gnome is rarely ‘silent’, and some may find this annoying, and in some cases this can cause a certain level of danger.

Apathy – Pikel just doesn’t care…about anything really, with the notable exception of plants and his friends. Everything else just does not matter to the gnome. While some might consider this a strength, it has often landed the gnome in trouble, for he cares not for a little thing called the ‘law’.

Death - As in, he does not fear it. This may cause some issues when confronted with something dangerous, for while the little gnome might not fear death, he is by no means impervious to it. He is also not an advocate for pain, and while something may not kill him, it can still hurt....alot.

Personal Hygiene – Pikel is rarely ‘clean’ by any sense of the word. Although rarely does he stink (his wardrobe almost always gives off pleasing scents to counteract any bodily odor that may accumulate), he almost never cleans his skin or hair, or even brush said hair. The upper classes of society, which Pikel often deals with, often find this to be less than pleasing to the eye, and Pikel loses a lot of respect because of it.

Belongings – Pikel keeps only his clothing for the day and a sack made of more foliage, which is filled with seeds. Anything else that he might need he keeps in his small home. When he is traveling, he keeps a knapsack, made of foliage similar to his clothing and likewise varying in color, with him.

Magic - Pikel works the magic of Druids, specifically green druids. He uses his magical skills to make seeds that he carries on his person grow at a much faster rate, often into entire gardens attached by vines. This is how he earns his living, and makes his clothes.

He also ‘grew’ his house from a single seed, asking that his mother’s house be destroyed, and then ‘building’ his own abode with his magic. He practices his magic constantly; at least once a day and usually more than that, and thus, has become quite talented at its use.

He merges with three essences daily: his two boots and the body of his clothing. He has became extremely fast at changing these particular essences, so fast that he can change their appearance within only a few minutes.

History – Pikel was born in the City of New-Santhala. His parents were both very loving to him, his mom running her business of selling potted planted out of her house, so that she might stay home with the young Pikel. The shrubbery selling itself did not bring in a large amount of income for the family, although combined with Pikel’s father’s job as an alchemist there were few economical problems for the family.

Growing up, Pikel often helped his mother tend to the plants that she sold, as well as helping take care of their personal garden, which was quite impressive, given the size of their home. He showed a particular talent and love in the care of plants. The care of plants became his hobby, something he did at all times of the day, when he wasn’t eating or sleeping. He, quite obviously, became extremely good at his chosen pastime.

As the years passed, Pikel’s skill with plant increased, and the family flourished with the plant selling business rising because of Pikel’s expertise. Pikel began traveling to the different forests surrounding New-Santhala and the Rimmerins Ring, looking for rare plants that could only be found in the home of the elves. He gained the respect of many of the elven tribes, and even had friends in the villages, especially amongst the Ahrhim. An Ahrhim elf named Kerindas was passing between the Almatrar and New-Santhala met him, and the two became friends. Kerindas spoke to his brethren about the young gnome, and Pikel was given access to the Almatrar. Guided by his friend, Pikel wandered the forest, learning of the plants there.

After numerous trips spread out trough many months, Pikel and Kerindas started to explore further and further away from the Ahrhim settlements. One day, in the dimness of the Almatrar, they spotted lights. Hues of light blue, white, green and even purple shown through the trees. It seemed as if a few of the distant trees themselves were shedding this plethora of color. Curious, Pikel asks his friend about them, and Kerindas is quick to inform him of what could cause such a display: Druids. Lovers of Plants, the green druids spend their lives caring and working with that which grows from the earth. It was at this point that Kerindas realized that Pikel would most undoubtedly enjoy such a life.

Kerindas, while an honest and true friend, was obviously pretty slow in the head.

Pikel and the elf approached the druids, asking for Pikel to be admitted into their order. The druids, after many questions directed at the gnome, acquiesced to their request, assigning the wise druid, Tenalian, to be the gnome’s mentor. Pikel asked a boon of his friend, Kerindas, asking that the elf go to New-Santhala and inform his mother of what was happening. Kerindas, complied, leaving Pikel with the druids. Their friendship became a distant one, only seeing each other every couple of months and in passing.

Pikel’s training in the druidic arts progressed fantastically, the gnome and his mentor becoming close friends. He spent many years together with Tenalian, learning the ways of the druids. His entire view of the world changed in those years. He saw that the petty squabblings and minor care of the races were nothing compared to the serenity of Caelereth’s plants, who would be here long after the races had died away. He saw that his own death would someday aid these plants, and his fear for that inevitability vanished.

After about a decade, Pikel’s training concluded, and he was admitted into the druidic commune fully. For a number of months he lived with these people, helping them to survive and prosper. Then, about eleven years ago, a call was issued to all green druids in the forest. An expanding village called Stellastar was logging the Almatrar, and the elves were too far away to notice. The druid’s left their commune, traveling to the logging site to confront the villagers. Pikel took part in the warnings, helping to coax vines from the earth to tie down the workers’ tools, but the villagers merely destroyed the plants and went about their work. A messenger was sent into the village, in an attempt to talk a peaceful solution out, but his dead body was dumped into the forest.

A meeting was called, that lasted throughout the night. Tenalion, Pikel’s best friend and mentor, decided that he would sacrifice his life to thwart the invaders. Meditating for the rest of the night, Tenalion merged with a large oak, becoming the fearsome Kroi’lon. Tenalion, in his altered form, attacked the village of Stellastar, reducing it to little more than tinder, killing many of it’s inhabitants and sending the rest running.

Unfortunately, a druid who becomes a Kroi’lon dies three days afterwards, and Tenalion was no exception. His death was not mourned however, for that is not the way of druids. Instead, they admired his sacrifice in the name of his beloved forest. Pikel was the one chosen to shape the Tenalion’s statue in the Hall of Guardians, something he did with great care and attention to detail.

After Tenalion’s death, Pikel decided to leave his commune, living by himself in the Almatrar. He spent a decade in seclusion, keeping no company with the exception of the plants around him. It was then that he started to speak his thoughts, in what can only be called an attempt to hear a voice, even if it was merely his own. This habit has yet to leave Pikel.

After about ten years of this existence, Pikel was visited by an old friend. Kerindas found Pikel after a few weeks of search. He brought news with him. The gnome’s mother was sick. Pikel’s father had died years before Pikel had left the city of New-Santhala, and thus, the mother needed someone to take care of her. Immediately, Pikel left the forest in aid of his mother.

He soon made it over the Rimmerins and into the city, going back to his old house, which was still inhabited by his mother. She was dying, and had but a few months to left in this world. Pikel decided to stay to make her as comfortable as possible. As a means of financial support, Pikel started doing landscape design for some of the wealthier citizens of the city. His druidic magic aided him greatly in this, and he became in great demand. After a few months of this, Pikel’s mother passed away. Pikel did not mourn her, but was glad that her suffering was over. He took her body back to the Almatrar, burying it in the glade that had been his home for so long.

But Pikel found that he enjoyed his hometown, and the work he did there, so he returned, and has been there ever since. He tore down his old house, and replaced it with one he created himself from his magic. Every once in awhile he gets it into his mind to travel, but he always comes home to the City of New-Santhala.

Overall the S&Ws look nicely done IMHO. Yet he seems a bit unbalanced though not exceedingly so. Kinda look over what you have and see if their is something you could add as a weakness or just define one you have to a more detrimental degree and I would be pleased.

Charismatic – After spending time with him, people often find that they quite enjoy this little gnome’s presence. Pikel You use his name predominantly throughout the CD. I myself have this habit when I write and must force myself to be careful of it. Though there is little wrong in writing this way it often times becomes highly repetitive. Just remember you have a plethora of other words you can use in place of just his name. Like: The gnome, he, him, his, the druid and a few others. has a great deal of friends in not only New-Santhala, but also in the Almatrar, where he has druidic and elvish friends.

Money – Pikel has more money than he, living a simple life, would ever use. He donates the vast majority of it to charities and organizations throughout the city, but always keeps enough for himself to finance his night life, as well as a fund for any traveling he might do.

The history reads nicely and I see very little wrong with it. But I would recommend reading it over to yourself as you will see there are a few grammatical mistakes. Though none worthy of my complaints. Nice CD Pikel-san! :hug   Hope my comments have helped you a bit and I shall return to go over this again once you have completed the edits.

Many plants give off scents, and druidic magic can make plants make any scent, in any strength.

I've read it already, but didn't have the time to comment in detail.

It is really a very nice CD all over all, there is just one thing - you abilites of a green druid, the quantity he is able to do in a short time is far too much in my opinion - and it is not developed either, so not yet playable! Pikel, hurry and start your next submission (green druids, I would propose ;)  ), so that you can elaborate on this topic and don't have to put it in the main magic entry (which we still have to finish. I'll try to get to it this week).

Green Druids will be getting an entry, I promise once i finish up my beasty I will start writing them up.

Although, I do not know what you mean by "the quantity he is able to do in a short time". The only thing that takes him a short time is his clothing. He has spent a good 25 years practicing his druidic magic near daily. THe vast, beautiful gardens SURELY do not take less than an entire day to finish (and probably more than that in some cases), his house undoubtedly took several days at least.

Hmm, Perhaps i should make this more clear.

Yes, we need to discuss this, maybe open a thread about it before starting? Which beasty do you mean?

Pikel - here is your CD. It wasn't in the archives. Simply on a different page here as you had been editing the Druid part.

Comments regarding green druids or their magic, set behind for a later approval

Normal Comments, please do something about it.

Pikel Thunderstone

Would a druid change plants just out of fun?

He has also found that this is a prime source of income, for many of the nobles of New-Santhala would pay vast sums to have the services of a druid of plants to shape them fantastic and awe inspiring gardens, especially if said druid uses his magic to make the plants take care of themselves, thus removing the need of constant watering and nurturing.

How should this work? How can a plant care for itself, f.e. water itself?
I assume now, that he will not merge with every single plant in those huge gardens, but plant and maybe even prune them the normal way and only merge with some if needed out of a special reason.

Pikel has made quite a name for himself with this profession, for he often makes unique plants, those unlike any that can be found in nature. While his job is quite lucrative, he keeps little of it for himself, or enough to pay for his nightlife. All the rest is donated to various organizations throughout the city.

I think your approach towards the changing of plants to form new trees doesn‘t fit entirely to the green druids will to protect the plants. would a green druid not respect the plants in the natural way they are? Maybe you should think about doing two different „schools“ of green druids..

What organisations? Do we have some? Maybe just say, he give it for the orphanage of the city he is near?

Mst be very entertaining playing with him!

You are not saying anything here about how long it takes you to do such a garden, so we can keep it.

His parents were both very loving to him, his mom running her business of selling potted plantEzCode Parsing Error: color=yellows[ out of her house, so that she might stay home with the young Pikel.

OK, Pikel, I see nothing wrong here, the green druidic magic we still have to discuss. So I give you my approval. Go and try out your magic and make an excellent entry about the green druids and druidic magic in general - in about half a year, ok? Then we go again over the magic aspects of your char and see, if we have to adapt the one or other thing.

Have fun playing Pikel

I will add a not at the top of your CD just in case others come and want to do one as well!

Testing.

EDIT: the edit put in was the changing of a few grammar errors you pointed out.

Everything you've said about druids has been noted and put into my little notebook thingy to be addressed in the druidic entry :)
