Title: Voldar's OOC - 1 Starting Over
Post by: Kalína Dalá'isyrás on June 07, 2005, 05:24:22 AM
Post your silliness, questions, and other importanties here :)

Let's get the party started :)

EDIT: Okay, since the tragedy and most of Voldar was lost and it is now being rebuilt, we might just start anew. I know this may not be statisfactory yet, I feel a little more confident with the city now and actually have a plan of action so, as soon as I get the gates all set up, feel free to post away. Be creative though, make your time at Voldar at least an interesting and fun one. Test the limits and make fights, cause trouble, be nice, etc. HAVE FUN!

Kali, if you wish for Damien Scar to be in the picture.  I would not mind playing him again.  But I do not know how to get a hold of Bah.  If you do, could you ask him for Damien's password.

Thanks.

Great Kali,  Umm...what do you have in mind?  Just curious.

I remember another storyline involving Voldar it was started by Drogo...It however, was an age restricted thread as there were some language and sensuality going on...especailly between the King and his...ladies.  The king was Drogo...so he had some fun;)   It was played by some great RPr's at the time.  I believe even Wren played a part.  I don't know if Wren is still around?

Anyway I am rambling...It was a great story.  If you could post what your thinking or if you'd rather send it to me in an email, your more than welcome to.

Capher!

Darien pointed me in the direction of this thread. I changed email from my old one, and forgot the password to it. My new one is bahranthebig@gmail.com. If you want a gmail account tell me and I'll give you an invite.

I gave Kali the password though. And I'm guessing you couldn't get in touch with her... in which case just keep trying. But if that one doesn't work then I don't know the password. The only other person I know that would have it is Rad, and I don't know how to contact him.

But anyway, gimme a email Capher and I'll see if I can tell you anything you don't know.

Hey Bah,

Great to hear from you pal.  How's it going?

Ok, you gave Kali the password. Great, now if only I can get into my hotmail account.

Is gmail, free?  I just may take you up on the offer Bah.  We will see.

I did send you an email Bah at that address.  You did not receive it?  I believe I titled it Password Needed.  Maybe your email service thought it was junk mail or something..  Any way I will try and email you again.  If I can only get into my hotmail account.  Blast that makes me angry!!!!

'Interesting' just doesn't seem like the right word for him. ;)  He's one hell of a character: fierce as they come, loyal almost to a fault, personality like a caged bear and smooth with the ladies.

Or at least, that's assuming he hasn't changed much in three years. :\

As only Anaea would know;)    Hi Anea, how is it going?

To Kali- Did you recieve my email?  If not I will rewrite you, hopefully I can remember all that I wrote. LOL

To Bah, I received your email regarding the password to Damien,  Both of them are invalid.  I do not know how to get a hold of Rad.  Anyone here know how to?  If not, then I guess I will have to play him as I am for now.  Without my rakish character pic to go along.  Oh well.

Taki- I don't see a character descrip for you or for Darien either.  Where are they?

Perhaps he can just give us the link for while it is in the CD Forum then update it when it is moved.

And I haven't received your email Capher. ><

I'm great Capher, obviously getting back in the RPGs. ;)

And I don't mean to be a pain, but I need some helpful information- though I'm playing my character in another city, a large part of her history is from this city during the 'Plains of Blood' era and I'm more or less just continuing her story line from that time period (with the period of my physical leave of absence playing in nicely.) But that tends to lean toward intermingling storyline problems.

I need some help in a few areas. Namely, how is this city-story playing the victory of that war? It seems unlikely, since Damien Scar is still employed and not decorating the end of a pike, that the rebels won; but what happened to the city hierarchy? Is Lord what's-his-name still alive and ruling? Or are you simply playing as if that war had never happened? In which case, I'll just make up the details for my characters sake (though Damien's char might be interested in them as well since Anaea plans on visiting Voldar in the near future and they knew each other.) :)

Also, I'd like ask permission from the mods to create a new map for the city. (I'm really sorry; but I'm afraid I can't help it, this place is a bit of pet project for me.) The new map would include a small scale version and larger street-by-street version (preferably getting input from players and mods as to the location of certain inns, stores etc.) I have a beta version already plotted out with Major and Minor Streets; Inn/Merchant/Military/Government areas; Good/Bad/Middle Class areas, etc.

And while I really want to make it interactive (zoom, street names and the like) I'm not sure I can pull that off right now.  :\

Wow Anaea!  You definately are on a roll.

Um..as far as the old thread "Plains of the Blood" is concerned.  Lord Voltigar is in this story and that is all I can say at the moment.

Kali is the one to talk to Anaea about everything as this story is hers.  I was just glad to be able to play.

I have not been back rpging in awhile as well.  I am back at Thalambath's Heart, but not quite myself.  And then I noticed Damien's name here and recognized the city of course and decided to take a peek.  Damien was an NPC until I came along and asked to play.  I believe the story was almost going by the way side, until Kali revived it again.

If you remember Bah, he started this story as well, I think.

So Anaea, that is all I can think of.  You might want to ask Kali what the plot line is and of course asking permissions for your map and such.

P.S. Damien would of course love to see his favorite sparring partner...once again.  LOL

Norkin  Please read the posts, the entire story if need be.  You could not have seen Damien.  He is behind closed doors talking with his "Second in Command"  Either you edit the post or I will.  Your post in the middle of all that was going on, really disrupted the flow of the story.  I know...sometimes you want to play so bad that you forget, sometimes.  But please please read the posts of the thread that you are in.  And that goes for the rest of you as well!!

LOL Kali, The descriptions of the Barmaids, do not fit the description you gave of Reena.  According to the "Main Descrips" the barmaids are supposed to have dark blonde hair and green eyes.

Your Reena has brown eyes and brown hair.  What did she do, color it and somehow contact lenses were invented. LOL;)

I liked the post, anyway.

Title: Re: Vacation Time

Takashi,

I read your post in Arth's spot.  You made a couple of blunders. So you might want to consider editing your post.  The blunders are:

One.  Reenia was standing in front of you asking what you wanted.  Not the barkeep.

Two- In roleplaying you never, never assume what another character is going to do or say.  Even if its an NPC!  If you need to reread the rules for roleplaying.  You were going out the door I am assuming.  The only door.  The door where Damien was standing aside in.  Damien then would have been the only one you could have bumped into then.

If you are trying to say that you bumped into someone else before you reached the door.  The only other persons at Arth's spot at this time are the bartenders and the barmaids.

Also for the benifit of you and Darien and any other player.  Playing almost Godlike, where you can never get hurt, or you can kill anything or anyone without someone noticing or trying to defend themselves is not only allowed, but more importantly, it is unrealistic.  And though this is fantasy and some of us have powers and fighting skills and even fancy weapons.  Realistcally, we can still get hurt if we are in a fight or a battle.

I guess what I am saying for the benifit of all players:  Is to think about what you are going to write, considering the previous posts, your characters strength's as well as weaknesses and the person whom you are talking to, or fighting with, their strength and weaknesses.  That way your writing will be realistic.  I believe everyone will have a much better and enjoyable experience when playing.

Capher.

well i agree with your points capher but isn't it normally good to assume there are some other people, probably also npc's who are just having the simple role of creating some atmosphere in the place.... My guess was that if it wasn't mentioned before by the mod or so then it would always be right to assume it. On the other hand,... It is the early morning;.. how many drinkers could there be at firstflame?........

If there were such people, I would have made mention of them. I am usually not one to leave out important player information. Just go by the posts for now.

If it is not written, do not assume before you post. ASK! We may have forgotten to write it in there or we may not have. Do not assume anything because assuming only brings trouble.

Happy 4th of July for all you Americans! Although it's probably not the fourth over there yet... Here (New Zealand) it is winter: cold, wet, and boring as I wait for the next uni semester to start... No Fourth of July celebrations for us. Heheh, although... *snorts and giggles* they are going to play *tries, unsucsessfully to control laughter* Independence Day the movie on TV tonight... *Dissolves into cackles, mostly of embarrassment at NZ's sullying of what I understand is America's most important secular holiday*. Although what's sadder, is that I will probably watch it. Come on, it kinda sucks, but it's also kinda funny... In a buffy-esque way.

So, anyway, I will be raring to go when you all get back, having had no fireworks to entertain me. Although Grunok is a little nervous, so his posts may be somewhat monosyllabic for a time. *Sighs at the necessity of putting the effort into roleplaying for it to be enjoyable*  :b  :D

Ah... just realised this might not have meant 'make a post at the main gates, then post in the ooc threads', but rather, 'post request in ooc thread, then you can post your cd, and THEN you can post at the gate, once you get the ok'...

*Shakes head at own idiocy*. I blame the Orc. Hope I didn't step on anybody's toes. :o  :b

Post by: Grunok the Exile on July 08, 2005, 10:14:22 AM
Hi, everyone, sorry about the duplicate post @ main gate - ezboard had some issues just as I was trying to post - the message said server error or something. I came back in later to try and post, and found that it had actually worked. Twice. Oh, well. So if someone can delete one of them for me, that would be cool.

Done. Post deleted.

@Takashi- What do you mean directions?  My character is in the Inn.  If you wish to go someplace else just look at the cities places of interest in the main thread.  There you can post anywhere you like.  Someone will come along and post with you hopefully.

Hey, Capher. Just thought I'd mention - it was my coat, not a pouch, that I put on the table. Not that it makes much of a difference, but I got a bit confoozed.... Kali, purple is really really difficult to read upon this background.  At least it is for me.  Could you please use a different color, next time.  Thanks.  Also why Joshua?  Is not Malgion the head of the underground?  Or did Joshua supplant him?

Takashi..you have your NPC...for awhile at least.

Norkin you need to post.

Calisaid. You can post anytime as well.  the guard talked to you.

I realize that the weekends are hard to post, especially during the summer...as we all have other things to do.  Normally I do not post during the weekends.  You just got me in one of my rare moments.

Hey Kali and others. Most of you don't know me, but I have M.S. (Multiple Sclerosis)  It was the relapsing/remitting kind until about two years ago.  Then it became worse.  Anyway, the reason I am telling you all this is because I am going for some consultation about some surgery I may have to have today.  I am not sure whether they will put me in the hospital today or wait.  So if I am not around for a few days then you know where I am probably at.

Because, unless it is the weekend, I usually post every day.  I like to keep things moving and so I ask those who do play to at least post once a day.  I understand real life and all, but to keep others waiting without at least telling them why, I think is rude.  At the most you should allow maybe two days to pass before you post or tell us that you can't.

We understand all about real life.  But then we can circumvent that person, either by playing that person, if he/she gives permission, or we just do something else, until that person comes back.

So I am just giving you all a heads up.  in other words fair warning.  If I do not show up on the board after the second day, then Kali can play for me or anyone else she chooses.  Ok?

Thanks all for understanding.

Capher.

Not really know what M.S. is but good luck Capher and hope you recover from it.

And i would like to post yea but Norkin simply dissapeared. He isn't a reliable poster for as far as i know him. And until he does not step forward to go and post i would like to ask permission in puppeting him. (or that the mods puppet him, Watever you like best).

Yes Taka...

And it would be nice if you would actually participate in the plotline. ::sigh  s:: yet if you insist. ::grins evilly::

Also, I will go ahead and puppet Norkin since Reenia is currently interacting with him. That will get the thread moving a bit quicker.

Ok, I am back.  The surgery will not take place until after the fourteenth of August.  So I have some time.

M.S. (Multiple Sclerosis) for those who do not know is an incurable disease of the Brain and Central nervous system. If you want to know more look it up on a search engine.

So until the fourteenth or after I should be able to post.  Ok? Enough about me.  I dislike talking about me, lets get on with the story shall we.

Hey Kali, thanks in advance.

Kali we have two main gates.  We have the "main gate" and then farther down the line we have "main gate( Damien's Gate)  Are they the same gate?  If so then we need to delete one of them so people do not get confused.  I just told a player that all gates were closed and go to the main gate, Damien's Gate.  and then I saw both Main Gate's posts.  For new players that may confuse them.  So I defer as to what you want to do.

Capher.

Title: Re: ...
Post by: Kalína Dalá'isyrás on July 13, 2005, 02:31:22 AM
Well, I simply assumed since all the gates that are active are stickified there would be no confusion, but I can delete the other if you think we should.

Title: Re: ...
Post by: Capher on July 13, 2005, 01:40:22 AM
No, I suppose it is not neccssary.  As long as the players know what the sticky means.

BTW I like the characters you are coming up with.  The one following Takiashi, was described well.  You are a much better writer than I.  I bow to you, M'lady.  Somehow I forget to put in the details and I do not know how many times I have had it drilled in my head that 'Details' 'Details' are most important in writing.

Kali I had already posted at the Northern gate.  I can delete my post if you wieh or you can delete yours.  Either way I defer to your judgement.

::b lushes and smiles:: Thanks Capher. I try. My thought is there is no point in having an NPC if the PC cannot know what they look like or what their personality is somewhat. With NPCs, there are always mysteries yet gotta have substance. :)  Glad you like them. Now I know folding clothes at work is a good way to come up with random people lol.

In Arth's spot, Do i have permission to puppet Norkin? Or will you do that Capher? (Second time i asked this). And yes i am asking permission because i am not the storymod but you are. :p  I want progress... And i want adventure,... (And i have a feeling there will be some) I can see it all now... Darién who murdered somebody important hiding in stealth from the many guards/ guildmembers, Spectaculair horse chases, Brute one on one fights and many poor npc's dying underneath Darién's hands....  And a spectacular showdown at the very end of the story with the insane Shadows of Death facing the royal guard troops of Damien....

Or am i running to far ahead? :p  Well,... Firstly i have some rounds of drinks to finish and some people to meet, And to withstand Damien's personallity :p  hehehe

Thanks Capher! :broadgrin

I'm feeling higly sympathetic with immigrants who have no idea of the language and customs of a new place now... I'm trying to play Grunok as reasonably intelligent, but of course with his "accent", and, I guess,  the stereotypes of Orcs, he comes across as pretty thick. And also because he can't read, and also has never been in a city before, or been in a town other than furtively... *Stares at all the new weaknesses which have come out in roleplaying* I wonder if I should update my CD?!

Oh well, once he sits down with his meal, he's gonna get a chance to do some musing about his place in society, which I plan to lead to something...

... or he could get his encounter now :D .

Just to clear up any confusion I may have caused: Grunok is at present only responding to Damien's tone. He hasn't even registered what the actual question was yet, as the tone is one he has heard so many times before, and has always meant that he needs to defend himself or flee.

So because of that, I've tried to keep the description in my post fairly vague so as not to contradict anything, but it would be good to have a description so I can... um, describe it...  :b

Grunok, I may have misspelled the word, it is spelled Uruyant, it is the most precious and hardest of all metals found in Caelereth.

As far as Damien's signet ring, I made that up on the spot.  I guess I should describe his Coat of Arms.  It is Kyranian, of course, since hs is Kyranian.  It is a picture of a stag, with a Diamond above it, situated above its horns.

Taki, ok, have fun on your vacation.

Kali, I am not sure where Reenia should meet.  Should it be in the alleyways? Or in the black market?  You decide?

Also, I hope it's OK that I have posted again directly after my last post. I thought it might be OK, cos I'm not in any action, and I'm not moving anywhere different from my last post, so it won't stop anyone doing anything they were planning to do in response to my last post... not that it invited any response... all the action was in his mind, the only things he physically did were sit down, and eat a bit of meat.

Multiple opinions are welcome. :)

:lol    No problem Grunok, leave the post(s) as they are.  They do not interfere with anything.

Very Important Kali I know you are probably very busy but Damien needs a post from you in the alleyways. Also this the the most important part King's Ball I kind of just thought this up at the spur of the moment. But I figured it would be a way for all the players to meet the King and Lord Voltigar, as well as do some court intrique. It would be posted by a "town crier" and would be open to everyone. That way the King figures he could try and discover who Lord Voltigar's allies were and who were his. Sorry this just a short notice. If you do not think this is a good idea, then please tell me so and I will edit my post as Norman.

I would like input from the other players as well...Does the idea of the King's ball, sound good or bad?

Lol, I would dearly love to see the Orc at a King's ball, especially when he so easily terrified the barkeeper. I can only imagine the reaction of genteel ladies. :D

Am also wondering how assassins would come to be there (or want to) when security would likely be so heavy. But half the fun is wondering what will happen next... ;)

What are the "papers" required to enter the city of Voldar? Are they obtained only at the city of Voldar, or would my character have gotten them from some other place (having lived most of his life in Erpheronia)?

Nope, you get them on your first entrance to Voldar. You might have old ones if you have been in Voldar before, possibly (?) but it's just as easy to say you don't. You can read other people's posts in that thread if you're confused, I don't think anyone has actually had papers yet.

I read everything I could find (actually Norkin had papers, but he was born in the city). I just wasn't sure whether the "papers" were national (and required by every major city), or issued only by the city of Voldar.

I'll play assuming the latter. ;)

No, haven't seen her around. Also Calisaid seems to have dropped off the map somewhere between the main gate and Arth's spot. Random.

Calisaid.

I saw some place they got engaged so they were too busy to post planning the wedding and all. They were working themselves from the story.

Kali, who was getting engaged? Calisaid and Abigail.

Also as far as the ball is concerned.  Since I said I wanted it to start today, in Rl, but certain threads had not concluded themselves, I am starting out this day as if it were still the last day of the last week.  That will give the players time to conclude their posts.  I think then we should probably start a time, that way we can know when the ball actually starts.  What do you all think?

I guess I jumped the gun a bit, forgetting that certain people were still on one day and others may jump to another.

From now on I think we should have a day and time.  Those who do not catch up, will have to try in theri next post.  Question is how long in RL, do we allow for in Voldar?

I would like some thoughts on this from the players.  Especailly from you Kali since you are the one who started this story.

I seem to have taken over the story and that was not my intention.  I apologize for stepping on your toes Kali if I did.

This is going to be a tough call because some folks can't post every day, and even when they can, must wait on others for a reply sometimes.

For example, I've been 6 days RL just trying to get through the main gate and still don't have papers yet (am not complaining btw)... ;)

About kinda taking over the story...you are fine Capher. No toes have been stepped on and I am grateful for you kinda stepping up a bit. This summer has gotten to be a bit more hectic than I intended and I just haven't been able to be on the board as much I had believed I would and I feel absolutely horrible about it. I know it isn't fair to you to have to constantly wait on me and everything for approval, and you don't have to. I will be more than willing to accept anything you have to throw out there at this point. I had no set plans for the city other than what little i mentioned to you.

This weekend was all work and I am exhausted and mostly just came to apologize for my irregularity at this point. Things have just suddenly spun out of my control and I am desperately trying to get a hold on things again. I will most likely post tomorrow or try to. If not, I will let you know. I might try to find another mod for the city just because of my sparatic times right now. I sincerely apologize, especially to you Capher because this isn't fair to you. ; ;

@ Mac, has it been six days, now seven?  Wow, I am sorry man.  I will try and speed things up.  Maybe giving Straub more responsibilities.

@Kali- no need to explain and I do not want another mod, unless they are as good as you or come close.  I understand RL, boy do I understand it.

@ the rest.  I think that when the time is right I will post a thread called KingsBallroom  That will be the thread where the ball will take place.  Then, and only then, can you post in there for the ball.

I guess since Kali is swamped, and that is not her fault, I will have to come up with the Kings and Lord Voltigars NPC's as well as the description of the palace and ballroom and to fill up the ballroom with Nobles and common folk.  I will have to think about that.  Give me some time to address those issues.

Also I think the time and day thing will be thrown out.  As has been so eloquently argued that only some post once a day, which is the best, and then there are others who can only post everyother day, or even less.

So, the time and day will still be there, it just won't show up in RL until everything is ready; if you understand what I am saying?

Capher.

Sorry i wasnt on for several days, but anywho, Yes, two invites to dinner in a row, and the comp was being moved about so i couldnt post much. I will get away from the guard now, or get caught trying!

@Capher, nobody can replace Kali, she is the only person who can juggle a flamberge, a moonblade, 12 topics, some arrows, mod duties, and the well, and still manage to not go insane!

I might help a bit with the discriptions perhaps, I like discriptions... because its easy enough to do.

Or should i keep quiet until the ball is finally there....

Hm maybe you can give me a mission to assassinate the king,..... Or... Lord Voltigar..... Or..... Damien Scar..... Or............................ Grunok :fish  ,... :broadgrin  Hehe, Gimme a purpose to play the game otherwise i'm just a boring wanderer. Gimme npc's :)

Well Darien you could just wander until the ball.  Or you could go look for Damien. Or you could go to Malgion's hideout and find him there...maybe or even Malgion or one of his cutthroats.  I am sure we can find something for you to do.

Grunok...Does that not hurt...baxhing your head against the wall?  Whatever the problem, I am sure I can handle it.  But as Taka, not Taki, says, "You are going to break the wall.:fish

@the rest of the players.  If you are bored, need something to do, just go someplace, I will find you and either NPC someone or something, or you can do a good job of describing where you are at.:lol

@ Capher, sorry to mention this, but would you mind not putting expressions on Grunok's face? If there is one thing he knows about in human society it's their trading system. Sure, he's never been a trader, but if you read his CD again, you might notice that that was actually what got him kicked out of his tribe - knowing about other cultures' ways, especially their trading systems. Quote from my CD: "...she had seen Grunok in the company of the old human slave, discussing the relative merits of the trading systems of two of the lesser races." So, to actually state my point, Grunok would not look confused.

Duh, I had forgot we should even move to another thread (stands here embarrased as "newbie" is painfully tattooed on his forehead).

That sounds fine to me though. I'll say something to you, and you can reply in the backstreets and alleys thread I guess.

Thing is, with no definite location for "Arth's Spot", I'm not sure whether it would be better to go to the north or south gate of the inner wall. Or maybe we should avoid the military area? Any ideas?

Taka, Thai is a he not a she!  And if you recall he was standing there when Damien offered to buy everyone a drink and called Taka by name.

Where is Darien?  Anyone know?  Or did he lose interest?

I know there is a map of this place someplace in here.  I just have to find it.  Ok, I found the map.  Duh, first sticky.  I looked at it and as far as I can tell Arth's Spot would be where the "G" is  The main post for all messages would be directly center of Voldar.  You can see the Palace from the middle of the city as it sits upon a hill, I believe.

So does that help anyone?

Post by: Mac the Slayer on August 13, 2005, 03:59:22 AM
Hey Capher,

I hate to disagree, but apparently Arth's spot is not at the "G" location. "Anaea the Marked" posted the following in that same map thread (I added bold lettering to her last sentence):
Quote:
Not to nitpick darlings, but H is a bit misleading (and since I made the map, I feel as though I'm allowed to correct it ;)      ). The large green globs (currently labled H) are the main barracks- conveniently located on the main thoroughfare between Voldor's Palace and the Main Gates- not the Inn district. The Inn district is the white area outside the barracks in the same cell.

Grunok and I are currently playing "Arth's Spot" as being roughly centered in the largest open area north of the barracks (in the same cell). We are headed more or less southwest and intend to go through the barracks area, then through the inner wall gate/opening near there. ;)

Btw, ya also posted our characters as seemingly confused, which they are not (lol, not at this point anyway).  :b

I posted assuming we would be headed left at the junction, since we would have likely detoured to the right previously (in the direction of the inner wall). Let me know if that's incorrect. ;)

Yay that Kali is coming back ( :pet  ), but Capher, don't think too little of your own work - from the little I know about modding, you are great! (Bunny for Capher too! :pet  )

Mac: Yup, that's more or less what I thought, hence placing the barracks down the street to the left. Cool.

I'm afraid that Thraz is going to have to leave Voldar. I just don't have the time any more to play him in a story. Being the sole mod of Bardavos, I have my hands full.;)  He can be puppeted out of the story, or I could post as him leaving the city for whatever reason. Its up to the mods.

Have the mods been harassing you about your new CD? Do you want an easy solution that allows you to get your character approved as quickly as possible? Then allow me to introduce you to a method in which you can bribe the temporary CD mod. Write your name in red ink (please use red ink as my undead minions cannot read any other color) on a twenty-dollar bill or its equivalent. Ladies are asked to include their name, age, and shoe size. Visit your local cemetery and place the money on the tombstone of a freshly dug grave. Clap three times, snap twice, and walk backwards out of the cemetery. Your CD will receive my approval as soon as a panel of judges reviews the authenticity of your money.

Have a fight with Damien! Go on! You know you want to! Get thrown out of Voldar! :hammer   :rollin   If you gotta go, you may as well go in style!

EDIT:
Capher: I've just made a post in which I have taken some liberties with describing the palace as seen from afar. If you need me to change it, just let me know, but I thought I'd take the bull by the horns, as it were. Also, are Mac and I posting in the right thread? The main road isn't exactly a backstreet after all... Then again, if you want you could always russle up an NPC or two to force us to detour back into an alley... *realises she's rambling and stops herself from writing any more* |I

Grunok you can go right ahead and describe the palace from afar.  And as far as posting.  Yeah, I think we should add a thread *Oh am I asking for it now* LOL  I will probably call it the "Cedric's Street" or as the locals call it the "Kings Pothole" because of the many and varied potholes in the street caused by disrepair of the cobblestones and his refusal to spend any money fixing it up.

Valannia joined santharia about the time Khi and I did. Us three became fairly close friends. Val and I became Mini-mods together and Khi became CD mod. We were the bestest team ever! Then, from what I has heard, her father died and she left. I haven't heard from her since.

Wow, you are studying Japaneese?  I have been trying to teach myself that language for a long time.  Why are you trying to learn Japaneese?

I can also imagine the wondering of how your friend is doing?  I hope you can find out somehow.  Sometimes our internet friends can be as close or even closer than our real life friends.

Ok! Quick run down.  The last time Reenia and blast I forgot your other characters name, the other woman, anyway Damien told them to go shopping for the ball.  But Damien needs to speak with you both, but especailly Reenia.  He will probably look for you in the marketplace, shopping.  So if you just post that Reenia and your other character are shopping in the market place, then Damien will find you.  Ok?

Oh, I hope you do not mind me naming the King or a street named after him?

Taka, I do not mean to be rude.  Actually I am glad for another sub-plot, but did you ask permission to make an NPC?  Such as this bird-smith?  I think in the rules it says no one makes NPC's except I or Kali.

This is important to everyone so please read this. Do not just make up any NPC's unless you have asked permission for and have been approved for it by either myself or Kali.  Usually we will allow it if there is a reason for the NPC.  However we cannot have players make up NPC's whenever and whoever they want.  We would have Chaos.  So please, from now on ask first before you create NPC's, OK?

Hey Capher or Kalina,

Quote:

A few specific questions about this. Are the following characters considered NPCs that would need approval?

1. When I put my horse in a stable near the gate and mentioned a "generic" hostler (no name, no quoted conversation).

2. On our way to sign the guest list, we mentioned passing through a "generic" crowd, and the fact that they avoided Grunok.

3. When we signed the guest list, we mentioned some "generic" folks being there (one even handed me the quill pen).

Lol, color me newbie...

Maybe I have no reason to post in the OOC of Voldar, as I am no longer in this story, but I noticed that in his last posts Taka has both created and puppeted a NPC. I would assume that only mods could puppet NPCs and as Capher stated players have to have permission to create them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a player puppeting a NPC sounds like a serious no no (for lack of a better word).

@ Taka, I like your sub-plot so keep it.  Just please email me and tell me what you have in mind with the twelve and everything. Also you have to make up a CD for any NPC that you create and put it in the NPC thread.  That way I will have an idea how to play Rhuel and my other characters.

But to the others please if you are going to create an NPC, please ask first, ok? Then you must create an CD for your NPC and it must be approved by myself or Kali before you can use him/ her.

@ Mac The generalities of what you and Grunok did are not real NPC's so they are fine.  I mean there will be many merchants, shopkeepers etc etc  That you will run into.  If the players puppet them in general terms that is to be expected.  It is when you want to, say, add them to the storyline, that is when you need to ask permission.

Does all of this make sense?  If you have questions I have no problem answering them.  I want you all to have a great RP experience, within the rules though.  If I seemed to come down hard on Kabu I did not mean to and I hope it did not make him decide not to play.  If you read the rules then I won't have to come down hard.  I am sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings.

Title: Re: Cussing

Norkin, as a Mod I have to agree with Grunok.  And that goes for everyone.  Please read the posts, all of them.  Even if they do not affect you directly, they do give hints as to what the plotline of Voldar is.  I think there are some who have caught on, but some have not and it will be a shame for those of you do not, because then it will take away from the main plotline and eventually you will find yourselves playing by yourself, or worse messing up the main plotline.  Which would make me and I suspect others very upset.

Kali and I decided a while back, not to post the main plotline, but to let it flow out naturally with hints here and there between the main characters and then when new characters come into the city to try and integrate them into the plotline as smooth as possible.

I would like a show of Yes's or No's from all of you players; Do you know what the main plotline is?  If not, have you read all the posts so far, especially Damien's, Reenia's and Telamori's.  If not then read them, you might finally get the drift of what is going on.  If you still don't...then I am sorry.  If any of you have ever played an RP game you know that you are never told the whole story or plotline; you have to talk to people, get hints, so forth and so on to play and ultimately win the game.  Well Voldar is a bit like that.  I hope you all understand and have a great RP experience because of it.

Capher.

LOL Mac, and Taka.  If you are really puzzled read Damien's posts most of all.  And this is all after the hack attack.

Grunok, I am not sure but I would say it is past mid-day,  At least that is how I discern it.  It is so hard with time because of players not being able to post every day and I understand that, expecially now, since school is beginning to start up soon and college has definately started.  At least it has here where I live.  They closed down one of our major streets here just so the freshmen could move in to their dorms. LOL

It was fun watching all of those guys and gals struggling with their possessions trying to cross streets corners and then getting them up to their dorms.  It is a good thing that the dorms have elevators or else I think some of those freshmen would have hernia's with all of the stuff they were carrying. Mac, just assume he gave it to you as Damien and you will have a visitor quite quickly.

@Grunok- You can either fight or be taken prisoner.  I, myself would like to see you taken prisoner.  There, when you are searched they find Damien's ring and bring that up to the King's attention.  Damien in the meantime is trying to find a way to release you.  Even though he is the Commander of the guards. Grunok's charges against the people of Voldar are too much for Damien to just release him.  Besides, the King is now interested in the Orc.  The plot becomes more involved but I think you will get the gist of it.  Your a smart girl, I mean Orc. LOL

Or you can fight, win and Damien and Mac and even Norkin find you and bring you back to Arth's.  It is up to you. Ok?

@ Norkin, you really need to read the posts.  Unless you have found Grunok before the guard and the townspeople have, then you too will be arrested for consorting with the Orc. I will have to edit my post if that is what you decide and Grunok allows. Ok?

Capher.

Title: Re: Idea

I assumed I found Grunok first. I was going to take him back to Damien in Arth's Spot where he could be protected. Or maybe Grunok could just flash Damien's Ring and the guard would leave him alone? Then he could get blamed for stealing?

Title: Re: Idea

I was always planning on Grunok being caught - he's just too lost and hopeless at the mo' to do anything to help himself. Also, I don't think Norkin could be anywhere near me, as I said in my post that Grunok ran at top speed for over half an hour. He is therefore very far away. By the time anyone from Arth's gets there, it will be all over. Sorry Norkin, you couldn't be anywhere near me. So, I wil wait for that last post to be changed before I do anything - you could say you thought it was Grunok, but it was just some drunk.

You were always planning on letting Grunok get caught?  What did you have in mind?  Don't tell me you are psychic as well? :p

So does that mean that the guard and the townsfolk have to wait until Norkin changes his post as well?  I wouldn't mind arresting Norkin.  At least it would keep him in the game.  Or I could just delete his last post, but I would not do that unless he asked me to.

*Shrugs* I dunno, Capher, I guess it's up to you. I was planning to wait to post till Norkin changed/removed his, but it's your call.

As for my psychicness - lol. I didn't really have anything in mind - I guess that's why it was so harrowing to write those posts - I'm just as lost as Grunok! :biggrin   But generally when a mod throws something at you, it's for a reason. (ie the guard + mob) That, and I'm trying to play Grunok as reactively and as realistically as possible. Not that it's necessarily possible to play a member of a fictional race realistically. :lol   :b

Title: Request
Post by: Manik Targin on September 03, 2005, 07:51:22 AM
Hey Capher,
I have a request for you. I play my character in Nyermersys and after the hack/crash I also became a mod. But during July and August I just found I didnt have enough time to continue modding. Unfortunately about that time, all activity in Nyer ceased as well. With the coming schoolyear I find soon i will have more time to once again rp. I may come back to mod in the future but I am not quite sure. I really like the way you RP, as im a big fan of your work in Voldar, especially your work with the guards.

So, my request is that if you have the extra time, could you kind of mod my character in Nyermersys? My char is an erpheronian who went to the big city to raise money by becoming a guard. The story with him has left off in the garrison where he was going to apply.

But anywayz, because I like you work, and Manik is going to become a guard, I was hoping that you could help me out. If not, let me know and I will post in teh General ooc to see if anyone else might be interested.

If you would like to see some of my rping, my char Manik is currently in the Seargorn Garrison thread. (hes also in the theifwalk, some of his other posts were lost in the recreation of nyer) I also played the character Brodin in The Journey.

Well let me know what you think. If you are willing to help me out, I will make up a quick summary of whats happened as well as what id like to happen. I look forward to hearing from you.

Manik Targin

@Capher. Just wondering, I never got a response on the Mies thing, if you could give me a heads up on what you think of the NPC description, it would be much appriciated. And I believe it would be prudent for Taka to accompany Mies back to Arth's

Manik, I mod this board plus another one I made up, the oldest one on this board called; Thalambath's Heart.    So I am quite busy myself, however I will gladly take a look at what you have in mind and then tell you my decision.  Please either PM me or email me with your summary, Ok?

Taka, Your CD with Mies is a bit brief, but I will accept it.  And it is fine if Taka and Mies goes back to Arth's.  Besides, Rhuel has found other entertainment. LOL

It appears I'll be busy with some projects for a while and may not be around as much as I have been.

If I don't post for more than 48 hours, Capher and/or Grunok have permission to puppet my character as they see fit.

If it's too much trouble or I'm gone too long, feel free to throw him in jail or have him leave the city with his horse and possessions.

Thanks, Mac

Kabu, who said that one of his relatives work at Arth's? I didn't and the descriptions of the place do not say so. So who said so? You?

Sorry for disappearing on you guys. Had some computer problems.

Anyway the family thing was on my last CD. I rewrote it so there was only a daughter, originally the mother was still alive and the girl had a twin brother. This had been approved before. As for the height of Kabu I will look over, probably bring him down to 7 1/2 feet tall or 8.

Those who are skilled in combat do not become angered, Those who are skilled at winning do not become afraid, Thus the wise win before the fight, while the ignorant fight to win."

Title: Re: Message for Norkin
Post by: Capher on September 06, 2005, 09:49:22 PM
Kabu, we all kind of understand computer problems.  However, as far as one of your daughters being a relative of yours, I realize it was approved before the crash, but a lot of things have changed since then.  When Kali, took over she had to rewrite a lot of things.  And if you look at the descriptions of Art's Spot you will see that she does not mention any affinity to a Kabu from any of the girls that work there.

That said, it does not mean that we can not work something out.  However and this is totally different from the daughter relationship, which really for the other girl, I forget her name at the moment, is fine with me.  I still have problems with an eight foot or at the smallest a 2ped 1/2 ped tall man.  From what tribe is he from that he would be that tall?  I could possibly believe a 2ped one fore man.  Which I believe is about 6' 4" tall, I might even go so far as seven, but that is really stretching the limits.  Unless the tribe you come from could possibly have that tall of people.  That is why I need to know what tribe he hails from.  I am going to check your CD and find out and then get back to you. OK?

Ok, I have checked the Tribes and your parentage.  Though I find it hard to believe a Troll would mate with a human female, since all trolls eat humans, not mate with them.  This is fanstasy.  And since I read that most trolls grow to between 3-5 peds, I guess he could be as tall as what you said he was in the beginning. 3peds. Which would make his so tall, that I wonder how he could even fit inside any of the buildings.  Unless he crouched over so much he would have a back ache every time he finally walked out of the building.

so, that being said, post your CD, and enter in at the main gate.  However do not be surprised if you have a very very difficult time entering.  A nine foot tall Troll-man, is going to be considered a monster by most.  But, we shall see, OK?

Post by: Darien Gulath on September 08, 2005, 07:26:22 AM
I was kinda out of the story for a while, but now i am back, And i hope i've just made it a little bit more interresting.

I've puppeted some npc's a little bit to get this quest. This way i'm back with a mission...

The guards could be from the king, But it could also be somebody else. And if something is incorrect capher, just have a yell and i'l edit.

Title: Re: I am still in voldar ;)
Post by: Capher on September 08, 2005, 11:48:22 PM
@Grunok, I was thinking that way. However it seems that Norkin had other ideas.  And that got me to thinking, I think that yes, that is yes, you can puppet the guards in the dungeon, except for Rhuel and the Inquisisitor.  Whom I will play, as soon as I come up with a name and descrip of him.  I suppose since Rhuel, and Lord Voltigar, and the King are now going to come into play.  I should come up with descrips of them as well.  Just give me some time, probably by next week.  I will work on them over the weekend.  I sure do miss Kali, she was so great at descrips.  Kali if you are still around...HELP!! LOL

@Norkin, Though you did not follow the rules about puppeting NPC's.  You have helped me and I thank you for that.  However in the future, read the OOC's and do not puppet people, or NPC's without asking permission, like Grunok did. Ok?

@Darien. I thought you were long gone.  However, since you came back and decided to create a sub-plot on your own.

First of all I have to say that the sub-plot makes for interesting diversion.  However, and I am sorry for having to come down on you like this, Any changes to the main plot-line should have been discussed with either myself or Kali. Please do not do anymore unless you have cleared it, ok?

Capher.

Ehrm, well; i didn't knew that the main-plot was so strict.... But i can still join the main-quest, Only he poses a horrific danger twards damien now :p .
I missed some posts, And as i did a quick read trough,  i will sumarize wat i know so far.

Grunok and norkin tossed in jail blamed for some concipiracy surrounding Damien's ring of protection. And i also sensed serious tension between the king and Damien,Voltigar.

Is this also the main plot? And when is this royal Ball going to happen? I am kinda confused sometimes because characters switch quite often sometimes from thread to thread, so a little update to know wat i must do would be nice. And if you want me to follow a certain guideline on how to get back in (you say it, i'l Rp it) then you can always send me a ezmail. ;)

Post by: Xanth the Dreamer on September 09, 2005, 03:26:22 AM
Xanth is not going to pick up any coins obviously just snatch a few while no one is looking so I suggest Thai start grabbing and would you stop it with the prostitute your giving Xanth a heart attack:b .  Not to mention all the attension(oops accidental rhyme I guess I'm really getting in character):rollin .  You'll make me think I'm some sort of Shakespear or something.  By the way what do you actually think of my poems and role playing.  This is my first play by post game and I'm not sure quite what to do. :veryconfused

Title: Re: Poems
Post by: Capher on September 09, 2005, 11:09:22 PM
Darien, you have most of the main plot down. However you had better improve your spelling skills.  I dislike bad spellers.  Oh, once in a while I understand, even I do that.  But, almost every other word, that I can not stand.  Also I know that most young people talk a certain way; they have their own language to speak of.  I can figure out most of what they say, but I prefer for all players to use the best English they can.  I know that with all players English is not their primary language.

I guess I shall put it down for all to read.  Then the players can decide on who's side they wish to be. I suppose I shall make a thread for it.  Even though Kali and I wanted to let you players discover the plot itself and then decide what side you wanted to be on by the way you posted and played.  I still may do that.  I have some thinking to do.

KIngs Ball, Well since the day the Kings ball was announced we have only gone through half of that day, so far.  So the ball will happen, when it happens.  I will let everyone know, when that time comes.  Right now certain things have popped up.  There may never be a ball right away in the near future.  First, things first, as they say.

@ Dreamer..:rollin  at the prostitute.  What? Is Dreamer afraid of some female attention? LOL   I will stop it.  I just thought it was fun.  As far as your rping go...You are amazing at your rhymes and your style is very good.  Especially for your first time.  Keep up the good work!!

Not sure my opinion counts much (if any) on this, but personally I'd prefer you didn't reveal any more than what's necessary to move the story along. ;)

I made a long post in the dungeon.  I hope everyone reads it as well as the rest of the posts and not only the ones that concern your own character.  Only by reading all of the posts can you get a feel of what is happening and the plot, sub-plots, characters, etc etc.

I thought there was a "Palace Thread" described here, but i see there is not.  I guess I will have to make one up.  I just wish Kali or any of you other players if you have any ideas what the inside of the palace should look like.  What King Cedric should look like, Lord Voltigar.  I would appreciate the help.  I am terrible at descrips.  Unless I really think about them and this story is starting to pick up speed, quickly.  I hope everyone hangs on and enjoys the ride.:D

@Capher

Well normally I have word to correct my spelling errors and look it over, but when I type a ooc message I type faster and don’t fix grammars. Well if it bothers you I will try not to let it happen again.

Now for Darién,… Can he get puppeted, run into someone or get some guidelines on how to continue. Because I don’t know what to do at the alleys without using some modly creativity (which I am not allowed to use).

@Darien- OOC here, I suppose a little lax on spelling is ok, but when I have to strain my brain to try and figure out what word you are trying to spell...well, that makes my brain ache. LOL  Also as far as you puppeting some, I suppose it is ok, just as long as you do not go too far, and you do not puppet, either an established NPC or a players character, Ok?

@ Kabu- Fine, when you have a final CD, then post it, and we will go from there. Ok?

@Mac, and Haily I cannot post until you are in your room, remember it is room seven.  Also I think that I think Taka is hoping that one or both of you hear the sound coming from his tripping over a chair.

@Ratdragon, you can catch up to Thai on the stairs and tell him what needs to be told.

@Taka, Bert and Marvin are going to see you and Mies, escape down the alley.  All they are going to see are two shapes.  I think Bert will send Marvin to follow you and Mies, while he climbs the rope you two forgot, and listens in on the conversation in room #7, since your room is right next door and the walls are quite thin. I know you said you slipped the rope off before you jumped down. But would you mind if I edit it that you forgot to do so, or that you heard some noise and in your haste not to get caught that you forgot it?  The noise would be Bert and Marvin coming around to the back of Arth's.  "Do not kill Marvin!  Otherwise he won't learn nothin." LOL  And maybe you and Mies can be slowly drawn into the main plot, if you want to be?

Wow! there sure are alot of people to keep track of. LOL  I like it though.  And we will be adding more as time goes on. Oh, I hope I can keep everything straight, if not I hope you guys/girls will keep me straight and you have to do the same.  So read every post!! So you know what is going on and do not mess things up.

That goes double for any new player that comes into Voldar, unless he/she has their own agenda and does not want to involved in the main plot.  Like Dreamer, he has his own agenda and I will keep him happy with it.

Title: Re: Playing on....
Post by: Capher on September 13, 2005, 05:14:22 AM
Norkin, realistically? A cloth bandage can break steel bars?  I know this if fantasy, but that would be pushing it a bit far. Don't you think?  Nope, your stuck in there until we figure a way out for you and Grunok and I am working on that and it will be quickly.  I promise.  You two should be out by weeks end, if everyone posts as they should.  If not, I will have the guards talk to you so you won't be so lonely, maybe they could bring in Zammy for you.

This is a prison not an inn?  I would be worried about Trelor, if I were you.

In case anyone is wondering, I will probably not be posting for the next little while, as Grunok is in a migrane-induced sleep. LOL Grunok,  Capher is making it hard on his poor mod.  Everytime he wants to slow down, Capher adds another element to the story.  It must be nice to just be able to have your character take a snooze, while you, the mod, gets to have fun and read? LOL

I am glad you are enjoying the story.  I am just hoping I can think my way out of the mess I have gotten myself into.  I try to get all of the players involved and I think that is where my problems, no fun, lies.  I am as curious as the rest of you how this is going to turn out. LOL

@Mac, are you going to be able to post, or do you want me to puppet you?

@Haily, I am sorry you are having to wait.  I do not know where Mac went.  I will give him today.  If not I will puppet him.  I know he won't mind, I have puppeted him before.

My apologies to all, but RL is just not going as expected. Perhaps in a few weeks/months I can get back to RPing more, but for now I'm going to leave "The City of Voldar".

@ Capher - when it's convenient, extricate Mac from the plot and  have him go to his room.

I will try to get back in a few days and have him pack up and leave the city (he'll get an urgent message from his friend Ned or something).

It's been fun folks. :)

You could always have Mac just go to his room with (or without) a bottle of something. That'd give him the excuse to sleep for days, rather than having to leave the city. :biggrin . I'll miss you while you're gone, I hope you'll be able to come back soon!

If Capher (or yourself) will extricate him from the plot and puppet him to his room, I'll see how things go for a bit before he leaves then, but I may be gone a while. He can always come back to the city if he does have to leave.

Title: Re: Re the Palace thread
Post by: Capher on September 16, 2005, 11:33:22 PM
Mac, I puppeted you out.  I hope you like the way I did it?

LOL Grunok, The King came through Lycheus bedroom.  There is a door on the other side of Lyheus room that leads to the many rooms in the Kings chambers.  This is just one door so that the King can come and talk to his Attendant without having to send someone, or having to walk all the way through the Great Hall to get to him.  Nothing going on between the King and Lycheus, except intrigue.

I know that most of you think that I am forgetting about you.  But I am not. Norkin I have a guard speaking to you, Though you do not speak to him.  Grunok, also Tilath is trying to put a shift upon you, and talking to you as well.  Haliy and Ratdragon, Thai will tell you what is going on, as much as he knows. Dreamer, even the crowd is asking more from you.  If you wish if not say goodday to the people and they will drift on their ways.  If you want to get involved with the plot, then go see Bregan and ask where your friend went. It is up to you.  Any new player that comes in I have Norman ready to Rp with them.  So I am trying to keep everyone happy.

You may not know it or even believe it, but each morning when I sit down at this site.  I read what has been written and then out of my head I answer.  The main plot and dialogue between Rhuel, Lycheus, the KIng I make up each and every day.  It is hard to do it that way, and I make mistakes.  But it is the only way I know how.  That is why sometimes like the diaglogue and what is happening between Damien, Rhuel, Lycheus and the King I take so long to finish it.  Because I am thinking about it as I write it.

So I hope that you do not think I am trying to hog the story.  I truly am not, I just want to make everyone know, what is going on, the backstory, and so forth and so on, so that you can conform and even hone your own writing skills and characters to better fit in with the story.

If that all makes sense to anyone.  I am not looking for praise, I just do not want anyone to think I am forgetting about them and I would love to have new players.

Oh, I forgot, even Taka, has someone on his and Mies trail.  Marvin who is a great tracker is following you.

And Darien, I think you need to post so I can see where you are coming from?  Since you are now on Damien's trail, would it not be prudent to try and find out where your target is?  LOL

Capher.

Marvin is working for himself at the moment.  Taka

Important for everyone  I hope you are all reading all of the posts.  There are more sub-plots arising, to keep Taka happy.

Haliy and Ratdragon As far Haliy and Ratdragon are concerned.  You are going to have to reread the posts about when Grunok was charged.  Who the person was that the townspeople said got hurt.  I could tell you but that would take the challenge away from you from finding out by rereading the thread, and then when you go into the market place.  You can puppet some townfolk, merchants, whoever, until they lead you to a man named: Korash, who knows the woman.  Make a story of it, you two to eventually find out her name, where she lives, and then you two will have to...I do not want to spoil your fun, so I will let it flow from there.  Just remember to read all of the threads.  Everyone playing in Voldar should be reading the threads.  Because the story will become quite complicated now.  We are heading for a significant event, it is not the climax of the story, that is still coming up.  So hang on, the ride is starting to become a bit faster!!  I hope you all like it.  LOL

Darien, no the inn is not empty.  Strike up a conversation with someone.  The other bartender, or Dreamer.  Damien will soon be there as well as Marvin and Bert.

It's nothing big Capher, but just off-the-record, You don't know me as Darién but as Nox Dreanor. I gave a fake name earlier (remember?). Otherwise Damien would recognise me immidialy since i am a highly wanted criminal.

Grunok, are you still around?  I am glad and it seems you are reading the posts.  What do you think?

I have to say something to everyone playing, to those who were playing and to those who want to play.

I am sorry if you feel like you somehow have been pushed out of the way.  That is, was, not my intention.  I only wanted to play Damien, but through circumstances I found myself as a mod and running the show, to speak of.  I tried to include everyone who wants to play, or is playing, into the story.  I realize that Grunok and Norkin are in prison.  There is not much you can do there, but I have guards talking to you both, and I do not get a reply.  I realize that Grunok is sleeping. But Norkin I know you wanted to escape, but I would not allow that, considering how you wanted to, but I have guards giving you good food, clothing, and talking to you.  But I get no response, why?  Is it because you think I have blocked you out of the story?  That is far from the case, and you decided you wanted to be thrown in prison.

Anyway, do all of you see where I am coming from.  I feel like I have let some players down.  I also feel like we could use some fresh blood as well, as more sub-plots keep on cropping up on their own.  I don't know how it happens, I just start writing and BOOM another sub-plot appears.  For those of you reading the posts I think you are all now understanding the main plot, which is good.  However for new players, or even those who, for whatever reason, have dropped out for a bit, if you are not inclined to read the posts, then either two things will happen, maybe three; One, you will post and mess either a sub-plot or the main plot up.  Two, you post and then get frustrated and decide not to play because no one is talking or interacting with you. Or Three, You will decide that Voldar is not for you.  Which could be a shame, as we really need players.

For example, I could use a player willing to play Malgion, Maybe a player to play, Lord Voltigar, Or Lycheus, or the King or Kashir.  I am making up so many NPC's because I need them for the story.  Maybe some of you think I am playing "God" because of that.  But I think it is the only way to keep the story moving forward and to keep it interesting for all concerned.

I know I may sound right now like I am ranting.  But I am not, what I am trying to do is say "I am sorry" to those who may feel slighted, or to those who want to play, but think, I could never get involved, because the plot is too involved.  Well, I agree the plot has become involved, it has many twists and turns, but is that not what a good book has?  And even though we are RPing, in my humble opinon, a good RP story, has to be like a good book, with a main-plot, a Protagonist, which in this story is Damien, and Antagonist, which in this story is the King and now Lycheus, other characters depending upon whose side they may wish to play on.

[As a side note to that, I realize most RP players want to play on the so called "good side", mainly because the good side always wins and they do not get killed. But that is a mis-conception, many people on either side get killed in books.  Consider, Lord of the Rings, how many good characters got killed? many, and so did a lot of those on the other side]

To continue, many sub-characters, which we call NPC's,. are also needed for such a huge undertaking as Voldar is becoming and I believe that to be for any of your city "Threads"  I believe those players, who, for whatever reason, do not have the time or inclination to post at least once a day, or at least once in two days, should say so, be willing to have their character puppeted, much like Mac.  Though I did not like to see him go, he gave his reasons, I puppeted him out, and when he comes back, he can still play.

Eventually the story has to come to an end.  In these types of Rp Stories, everyone has the idea that it will never end, that it is endless.  Well, that just does not happen; either in books or in RL, or should it happen in here.  You can stretch it out as much as you can, but eventually the story has to end.  However that does not mean you cannot start a new story in the same location.  I feel like I am rambling now so I will stop.

If any of you have any comments, rantings of your own, whatever, please feel free to state them.  I need to know, so that I can address them and hopefully make everyone, as much as I possibly can, happy.

Thanks for listening.

Capher.

Well, in order for you to know how you should run Voldar, I have  some pro’s and a few Con’s to add.

First of all, I like how you get so many npc’s (with their own character) involved, I Also like the in depth off which you play these npc’s PRO

I like the way how you try to get people involved, where they’d have to discover their own role in this whole scheme. And also how you give each one a mission to continue towards even more excitement. PRO

Yet you go wrong at one certain point to my opinion; You create sometimes huge texts where you describe the interior, details etc. etc. Which is great to read yet sometimes to uninvolved for the players. And I know it is for the progression of the plot,.. Yet there is a CON, You can lose people’s interest if you neglect to post to them specificly because you are writing up those big posts, Also it will be very hard for new players to catch up on everything because whe all post randomly in different threads moving from place to place. And only those who follow it continually will keep a good track of this Main plot.

All that you’ve written to advance the plot could also be done in less text. It might be wise to think up the plot a few posts forward before you start writing it up so you can sum it up a little.

You are talking about a good novel,.. yes you are completely right about keeping it so lengthy, yet the CON is… I can’t write such long posts as you because I am a player, I can’t change the world and puppet npc’s. With other words, your Damien will always be one step ahead of us because he doesn’t have to wait for reply’s… Therefore your Damien is currently the hero (main-character) of the story,.. And this shouldn’t be the case,.. Equal importance for everyone..

Quote:

And even though we are RPing, in my humble opinon, a good RP story, has to be like a good book, with a main-plot, a Protagonist, which in this story is Damien, and Antagonist, which in this story is the King and now Lycheus, other characters depending upon whose side they may wish to play on.

Why can’t I be the Antagonist :p   (LOL would be a possibility, yet I’d have to be mod, and I don’t want to mod but just play :p  )
A slight mistake, (well maybe it isn’t, since you probably know what you are doing) You should let people discover about the antagonist instead of giving the whole plot away. Well unless you really want the people to know this, but yet it would not be so interesting now to find out why the king dislikes Damien and Voltigar, since you already gave such information away. To my opinion the players should not get to know to much of what happens “behind the scenes” Unless they are told by a npc or discover for themselves. It builds tension.

Well I hope these comments are useful, and well maybe I could be all wrong but these are just some opinions on how I think it should be done. I hope you do something with these little advices, and to fix the current situation and to get some new players to voldar you can always keep track of a little summary on wat is going on (with every individual player a little story – like in talambath’s heart) and update it once a month or so… this would allow the players to hop back in easily without having to read “tons” of stuff to get a good feeling on what the situation is at Voldar.

Furthermore I am a big fan of your dm modding, keep up the good work and I am no dm mod myself (anymore, my story died, so I could be wrong to :p  )

Yeah, I'm still here Capher. And reading all the posts, too. I would have had Grunok rouse enough to talk to Tilath, but I think Grunok needs some more sleep before that, otherwise he won't be very well. Be reassured, though - if something happens to Grunok, I'm reading and I'll see it. I'm really missing playing him actually, although I am also quite busy atm, so the more time I have to study the better. *shrugs* So either in play or asleep works for me.

As far as your modding, Capher, I think you are doing a great job :hug . Personally I agree with Darien that if you want to make it a little easier on yourself, you could write one or a few different plot structures out and then use them to guide your writing, thereby making it easier on yourself. You still get to put plenty of creativity in, but then you're not in danger of writing yourself into a corner, and you have strategies already written down to make sure you include the PCs as often as possible.

Just my two sans, hope it helps. :)

OOC from Bard Judith:

Don't mind me, everyone!  I just wandered in here looking for Norkin, as his most recent post was in here.   He is my Apprentice over at the Dev Board, and I've been missing him lately.

I hope that it's just because of the whole back-to-school busy-ness and we'll see him again soon!  I'm going to drop him an email and hopefully we'll get an answer there that he's ok.

If you do see him around, tell him 'hi' from me and that his Mentor misses him! :broadgrin

*waves hands back and forth* Say Hi, Ho, Hate to see you go, Bard.  Sorry, best I can do at the moment.  If we hear from Norkin, we will tell him that his Mistress LOL  Mentor was missing him.  I hope you don't use those whips and chains, those were only meant for me. :rollin :fish :hammer  Or was it the fish and hammer?  Anyhow, nice to see you. Drop in anytime!!!

@Darien and Grunok:  I appreciate all of your thoughts and comments.  I think I will put up a summary of what is going on; not only for the newcomers but even for those who have been playing and may have gotten lost along the way. This will probably take most of today and the rest of the weekend for me to gather my thoughts, write the summary in as short of a text as possible and then post it upon the board.  So I shall only be posting small posts until I get it up.  And from then on no more posting or writing from me that does not directly affect the players.  (Though in my opinion, though the players were not addressed by name, I believe they were affected by the post, long as they may have been, by giving them background information.)  But hey! I agree with Darien, I probably should let the players find out the background, by talking to the NPC's, just like Kali, had suggested in the first place.  I was thinking...well I don't know what I was thinking.  Sorry.

BTW @ Darien, How could you not know that Damien is no longer the Commander?  The town criers have been yelling it out, and even the inn's patrons knew it.

Capher.

Title: Re: Ahh, old Damien.
Post by: Darien Gulath on September 23, 2005, 11:07:22 PM
Well, it could be possible that Darién just... missed it. He didn't overhear any conversations about damien at the inn, and he was to far away from the town-criers to hear them announce. There should be a tiny odd that Darién missed this fact, right?
I knew that damien was no longer commander, but missed the part about the town-criers, I just tought to beat some plot-information out of thai, Or maybe confront Damien head on, right now! Both ideas sound interresting. But if Darién should definitly need to know this information for some reason, then i'l edit my post. But i hope this ooc message will be sufficiént.

Either try in Cedric street or in the Black Market place.  Use NPC's at your discretion, as Merchants or townspeople and just be curious as to what happened with the Orc.  Do not call him by name, or the people will become suspicious.  If once you have questioned a few NPC's and they lead you to one and then another; again use your discretion, finally have one lead you to a Merchant named Karshi, in the Black Market area.  He will tell you what you need to know.

I will play Karshi.  Beware though, you will have two men also hunting down the same information, Marvin and Bert.

@ishmaelion- to get to Captain Norman's office you must climb the battlement stairs.  As his office is high above the city and the main gate.  So you could not just wave at him.  Sorry.  You are going to have to edit yout post.  And you just cannot climb the battlement stairs, without some resistance.  Sgt Straub will definately be a detriment to you doing so.

@ Takashi, sorry will edit post.

@Ishmaelion, edit your post as to walk up or try to walk up the battlement stairs.  You may not get far, but at least try.  As far as when Straub told you his superior officer was that way, a lot had happened since that post.

Since a lot of the posts do not directly name you, some have decided not to read them.  I realize that some are long and may not affect you personally, but they are critical to understand what is going on.  However I did put up some sort of a summary called City of Voldar Rebellion  I would like all the players to read it, tell me if I missed anything important so I can edit it.  From time to time, I will add editions to it as the story goes along so that newcomers will at least understand what is going on.

@Darien, what post are you laughing at? Oh, you must mean the post with Diana and Mies.  If Takashi had not left, he would have gotten ale too. LOL

Do we have descriptions for Telor and Tilath? It would help me to have them posted in the NPC thread, including what they're wearing. Grunok couldn't see them earlier, so he hasn't described them yet. I'll keep his vision a little fuzzy for now, but it would be good to have an appearance for both of them.

Thanks Ishamelion.  I forgot where we were.  I hope I can keep the intensity level up.  You know something and I did not realize it until now.  Voldar is a Dungeon Master game!  I kept on wondering why everyone was calling me a DM and now I know. LOL

Here I was playing Voldar as a free Rp game.  No wonder some of you players got confused.  I read the rules to Bardavos, and they were so concise and so well put together and then I looked at Voldar and realized what a mess I made and the confusion.  I am sorry for that.  I will try and do a better job.

The one rule I truly liked when I read Bardovos's rules, was the rule that when one wanted to go from one thread to another, the DM, had to give permission and it was written in a different color as well as bolded.  Do you think we should be doing the same?  As it seemed to be able to help all the players know who had left a certain thread, so that when a new player arrived, he/she would know who was there and be able to talk to the correct person and not make a mistake by talking to someone who had left.

Of course the new player would have to be willing to read or at least skim the posts, to see not only where he was; IE the kind of enviroment but also who he/she could interact with.

What do you all think?  Should we do that, or just continue with the way we are doing things and having the new players maybe get confused or maybe not.  I am not sure that is why I am asking for your input.

@ Takashi, I hate to come down hard on you, but if you read the posts Damien is standing right in front of door nine.  YOU COULD NOT POSSIBLY HAVE GONE DOWNSTAIRS, TALKED TO MIES, AND SO FORTH AND SO ON.  YOU MUST EDIT YOUR LAST POST.

@Darien, you are taking alot of liberties with my npc.  Although, I will allow it for now, do not get the idea that you can do so anytime you wish.

FOR ALL PLAYERS, DO NOT CONTROL THE ACTIONS OF AN NPC OR ANOTHER PLAYER UNLESS YOU HAVE PERMISSION FIRST. OK?

Sorry guys/gals, but I went home to early, I should have stayed in hospital.  I was taken by emergency last Wed night. I had what is called an MS Aspiration attack, in laymens terms: My lungs shut down on me.  I am back home again, but I am very very weak.  I am sorry for leaving this thread in such a lurch, but I will try and get better soon.

I really am very very sorry.  If any of you can mod me, go right ahead.  My plan was to stage a jail break, right as Trelor is going to torture Grunok.  I was going to engage everyone that was on my side in this.  Then hightail it to Malgion's where he would sneak us all out of town and then we all head for Lord Voltagar's castle outside of town.  With Darien and whoever else is on the King's side following.  Anyway that was one scenario.  If Kali comes up with a better one, or even if any of you do.  Then please do so, until I get better.  I can always catch on afterward.

Again I am very very sorry for leaving this thread in such a lurch.

Capher.

Capher, don't be silly! You can't help it if you are ill - I'm sure I can speak for us all when I say that we don't blame you!

However, if you so much as THINK of rushing your recovery (in a way that would be detrimantal to your long term health) for our sakes I will have some very stern words to say to you, young man! But not right now - now I am sending you great big hugs of get-better-soon-ness. :hug  :hug  :hug

As to modding, I personally would like to wait for you to get back, but if anyone else is keen to mod, they should still say so.

I wish you all the best, I hope to see you well and back on the boards soon - but not too soon *gives Capher a mock-serious glare* :b

So, did everything come to a standstill, or did someone take over?  If no one took over, then I guess it came to a stand still and I apologize to all of the players.  I am recovering, but it is a slow process.  I am fighting pnuemonia now, but the good thing is I am winning!!  I will be back...promise, it just won't be as fast as I thought.  I thought one week, but since the pnuemonia, it may be take another week before I can post reguarly.

You know I miss you guys/gals alot.  The bad thing is that when you are laid up and have nothing to do but think?  Is that you can come up with some of the wildest ideas. LOL  Is that a bad thing when you are a mod?:evil

Anyway take care and I will write to you all soon.

As far as timings of returnings go:  That's fine, just you take your time.  Pneumonia is no summer sniffle!  I, at least, have actually been fairly busy with other stuff, so it was ok for me that Voldar had / is having an hiatus.

The ideas thing certainly may be a good thing *hides Grunok behind a pillar until she hears what kind of ideas these are* :lol

Get well soon, Capher.

Thanks Grunok:   I am going to be fighting for a bit longer. If my nurse found out I was on now, she would probably kill me. LOL

But, I miss you guys/gals and It is so boring, just laying here with IV tubes in your arms being a pin cushion for whatever drugs they seem fit to put into your veins. But I know that these drugs and therapy will help me in the long run. So I endure.

Take Care my friends;

Thanks for all of your concerns guys/gals.  I am back, but only on a limited basis.  No long posts.  Just enough to keep the story going.  My pneumonia has cleared up and I can thankfully breathe without hurting.  I have no more IV tubes and I am well on the way to full recovery.  However as anyone who knows MS, you never fully recover the nasty little disease takes a part of you each time. But I thank God for each moment he gives me and I continue on.  Playing and meeting with you all is such a joy I could never describe it.  Finding Santharia many years ago was and still is such a joy, I could never ever thank Art enough for allowing me to join, contribute on the dev side, and then role play.

Thank you all!!!:hug

Title: Re: Yea-yah Capher!
Post by: Capher on October 25, 2005, 10:23:22 PM
@Darien did you put the closet in front of the door before or after I bumped into Takashi?  I thought it was after and then I heard the noise but dismissed it but after the encounter with Taka and Reif I realized that Thai could only be behind that door I heard the noise come from.  I could be wrong, so I am going to reread the post.   As far as the closet is concerned, I do not think a wooden closet is going to stop a Kyranian axe from going through the door or the closet, especially if you can push it.  It may take me two swings instead of one, but then I jumped through or should I say crashed through the rest.   Do I really need to edit my posts?  I will check to find out.  This is what I found out.
Quote:
Then Damien heard some thumping coming from room number six. Damien turned quickly and then asked the stranger. "Did you hear that?
That was said before you put the closet in front of the door, the next quote is while you put the closet in front of the door.
Quote:
With that said he quickly sprinted over towards the closet and pushed it with a heavy screeching noise towards the door to block or delay incoming assaults

It would seem either way I would hear a noise coming from room number six and knowing his anger and keen instinct even if he got the wrong room, I think Damien would have cut every door down to find his friend.  What do you think?  Do I still need to edit my posts?  Or can we just continue on with you being startled, pull a knife on Thai's throat and then we two have a conversation, and then we see where that leads us, ok?

@Takashi, you are right it is room number six. I need to edit my post. Thanks for pointing that out.

@the rest, thanks for the comeback.  Lets see if we can get this show back on the road.

@ratdragon, Hailey probably thought the game dead or something.  If someone knows how to contact him, please do and tell him that he is needed.  If he does not want to play anymore then we can easily slide him out of the picture.  But I would really like to see him back.

Ratdragon, start searching Cedric street and ask merchant NPC's, (two or three) that you can make up, if you wish, who the person was that the Orc had killed. Don't call Grunok by name, or else the townspeople will become suspicious. The NPC's will just tell you to find Karshi.  It is going to be up to you and Haily to save Wilma from certain death from Bert and Marvin.

@the rest, if you read the threads and I will update the summary, you should be able to follow along easily enough.

Our newest player has given me an idea for the next phase of Voldar, I am going to incorporate the idea and him and others who care to join into that storyline as well as any old players.

Title: Re: ...

@Grunok, we are on the same wave length and I will give you a weapon.

@Taka, Damien is not dead yet.  Just seriously, wounded, Your arrow missed his heart by a mere nailsbreadth.  Let Darien get out of the room and then go get help.  When you do you run into Nichea who was going to the King.

Very Important for everyone. I hope you are all reading all of the posts, especially the one with Tythle and Nichea the healer in the temple area, for that is where Voldar's next adventure comes from.

I also need ideas how I can attract players willing to play monsters, specifically lesser and higher demons.  Anyone have a suggestion?  Or else I will have to NPC them myself.  Which may not be a bad idea.

I am going to update Voldar as well, so everyone knows what is going on. Hopefully.

@ Capher:

Demons are creatures that are currently forbidden to be used, only capable of getting trough permission from an admin, The powerful ones can only be played by admins (higher demons, and lords) Lesser demons are also to powerful to be npc'ed by normal players, But since you have been an admin you would probably BE allowed to capher, Demons; they have no sane thought so posting for them would be kind of different, And i suggest not letting players puppet these beasts since they give a certain power that is not allowed for normal players... Also i suggest not to let Takashi puppet them since it would be a horror for me to understand his actions because he does not provide enough detail with it( he first needs to get some exp. with his current char, that would be better).

If you need more characters played i'd be glad to help you out Capher... I would gladly play some characters if nessacary...

Darien, that is up to Capher to decide, no need to make him biased, why dont you focus on your own predicament. You have 3 choices, use one of them, Taka wont shoot Darien.

Title: Re: ...>:
Post by: Darien Gulath on November 04, 2005, 06:12:22 AM
I am waiting for the lynch mob to grab you... You where the one who shot Damien after all... And you seem to be calling me a murderer, while the frozen guard clearly saw how you shot damien.... You are in trouble yourself... Why don't you use one of the 3 choices you think you gave me,... and use them for yourself... If i where you i'd look for safety about now... Everyone will soon be out to get you..

*evil laughter*

Oh and about Capher; I don't make him biased. I am just stating the facts. Why don't you post an example of how you would play a demon of your choice here in the ooc then? It will prove my point, (if all of your current posts haven't allready proved that same point) Duh... Nothing against you taka, only your lack of taking the time to write up a post that is interresting to read... You should really practice more on that, Your post count says nothing about your status here... You are still young and to unexperienced. But eyh, Maybe it's just my opinion. Capher might think different...

As for the lynch mob, im not even down the stairs, I have a place to hide, and Im wearing something completly different, as for the guard, he also saw YOU, attempt to murder Damien, as well as heard your actual name, and harming Thai, no, I think you are very much screwed.

I decided to stop there, Capher, so that you can say where the guards are and how they react before I attack them.  I hope the thing with the wall is believable.  It is my considered opinion that heavy + spikes + orc strength could = spikes go into wall a small way, causing a small section of the wall to come away when the spikes are removed. So Yay! Let the Rampage Begin!

@Grunok:rollin   Girl or Orc, I would hate to get you angry.  Yeah, perfectly believable with the mace, exactly like I saw it in my mind, about how you would use it.  I was thinking, Grunok, that after you hurt Trelor that you put him in his own torture chamber and then we let his little friends have him, what do you think?  Or would you rather just bash his brains out, and then his little friends will feed anyway.:evil   laugh.

@Darien and Taka since you two cannot make up your minds, I guess I will have to make them up for you.  And your right Darien, Damien could not die, unless I wanted him to.

As far as demons are concerned I did not know about the current restrictions.  So I am going to have to revise my plan

Basically, the idea is this.  And this may be a spoiler but I think it is needed to help us move into the next phase of Voldar.  The plan is right after Grunok and Tilath kill the King, and go after Lycheus, and right before Grunok and Tilath get killed, Captain Graaves, and the other guards notice a huge army coming to attack Voldar.  The signal from the army outside will be huge fireballs, fired from ballista's from their navy on the river side and from their army spread out encircling the city.

Somehow Lord Voltgar is in the city looking for Damien when the attack starts.  He convinces Lycheus to lay down arms, he gets crowned King, Grunok and Tilath and the rest of the guards get pardoned and then with the help of you players and of course Damien, after he gets healed.  We fight this army.  Oh by the way, Darien, you were not paid to kill Damien by who we thought. You were paid by spies from the army that will soon be attacking the city.  A nice twist, huh?

Tythle's demon attacker was a forward guard for this army.  Since the army will be commanded by a real person, who controls magicians, who can make this type of demon out of other people, albiet not that many, then I think we can still play.  If not I am sure some Admin will tell me so.  I will always obey the rules, no matter what and I expect my players to do the same.

If there are any players who wish to play for this other army, please state your reason, place a CD so I can take a look at it and decide.  Oh, forgive me please, I have not worked out this whole thing yet; such as who this army is, why it wants Voldar, who the commander of this army is, how many Captains, lieutanants, so forth and so on it has.  What and how many magicians.  In other words the make up of the army.  If there is someone, who is extremely experienced, has a great amount of imagination, and willing to put some time into this please email me.

Oh, I forgot one other thing. No one knows, and that includes me, for now, who will win this war.

Last but not least in fact very very important!!  If you know of other players who are either willling to play for Voldar or this other army, send them this way, preferably those willing to play for the other army, but we also need some for Voldar as well.  To make this work we need alot of players, who are willing to post at least once every two days is not once a day, unless RL really gets in the way, then I would expect a message, and then if their post is important I expect them to allow me or a friend of theirs to puppet them. Or else I am going to be doing alot of NPC'ing.

Which I would not mind if I could only figure out how to make different characters without using Capher as the focal point.  How do you guys play different characters, with different pictures and all?  I know how to write up a CD, that is not my problem,  It is trying to get my character, with a different picture to be posted under my Capher global account.  Or do I need to make up new accounts for each character?  I am really confused.  So, for those of you who would like to teach an old dog new tricks, email me.  That way I can keep the instuctions close by my side.

Also before this war starts I will revamp the threads.  I will either delete some completely, if they are no longer useful and I will be adding a bunch more.  The new army must have their own threads as well.

Capher.

Yeah, you do need to make a new account for each char, Capher.  You can have them on the same email address if you know the secret trick *hehe* (if you really want to know, you can add me on MSN).  To create a new account you logout and click 'create new account'.  I mention this cos I always used to forget how to do it  :b

As far as the attacking goes, Grunok's methodology tends toward the quick, violent and permanent.  If you want to feed Trelor to the rats and Tilath is into poetic justice, you can always call Grunok off before he totally pulps Trelor.

EDIT: Posted, Capher.  I assumed you meant for me to just go ahead and tell the damage on the guard NPCs, and so that is what I have done, but if that wasn't what you meant and you would like me to change my post, just let me know.

Important all players please read the update.

For those of you playing and those of you wishing to play please read the update.  If there are any discrepencies in the update, that are important to the storyline, please say so and I will correct it.

I have limited computer time so I will try and answer all threads that I am in, however the answers may be short.

Hey Capher, sorry for the delay in posting, I've been really busy this last week - all with good things, I'm glad to report, but busy nonetheless!  As for the paucity or words, :noidea  I guess I need you to describe the torture chamber, or at least where the warden is within it and what is between Grunok and him, if anything, before I charge in there and smash the place up. :biggrin

On another note, Norkin has disappeared from the dev. board again atm also, so he may not be around for a while.  *Shrug*

Festrath, have you posted your CD?  Also if you want to be in the other army then please write to me so I can find out what you are thinking and you can find out what I am thinking and maybe we can get together on something, ok?

Darien why do you not just escape, find out who really paid you and then go to that army waiting for the signal to show themselves.  If I have to I will NPC' a general until someone comes along who wants to take over the roll.  It is insane to think that you could face such odds.  And since I cannot kill a character and neither can anyone else without the characters owner's permission, this stand off has to stop, one way or another.

Remember all we are heading toward a different story line just as soon as Grunok kills Trelor and the King.  And I wish he would do that soon.

This is a heads up for everyone.  I will not be online again until next monday.  Then in about mid-December I have to move.  I probably will not be online again until after the 1st of the year.  It would be wise I think to think about another mod for Voldar, especially considering that we many more players wanting to join, which is good, but with my recent health problems I do not think I can do it all.  So think about it and when you have all voted upon another mod and he/she has been approved then he/she can write to me and then we can put out heads together and continue on with the next book or chapter, if you please, with Voldar.

Thanks.

Kalina somehow I just do not remember you offering.  However I just thought with college and all that you just did not have the time as you did not even roleplay your own characters.  I guess I was wrong, sorry.  Is your contact information still on your CD?  I will write to you and try and explain the idea I had.  Actually it is an old idea with new players and twists.  It comes from a RP game that a very very good friend of mine name of Drogo, maybe you have heard of him?  Well anyway, his thread was called "Plains of Blood" and I used it as part of my backstory for this current Voldar.

Manik and Darien of Nyrmersys was thinking of how they could somehow merge the two city states threads together and I think I found a way.  And that is by having Nyrmersys attacking Voldar. That way alot of the players who wish to play in either army have a starting place.  But it will need alot of cooperation and communication between the mods between those two city states.  I am just wondering if it is too big a task.  If not, then I was going to propose we all have a sit down, somehow and talk things over.  The problem is now that I have to move. I do not know how and when to corridinate this and even if Manik and Darien are willing?

I know that Manik is swamped with college, as I assumed you were as well, Kalina, so I am not even sure if it will work at all.  So I could really really use your help, ideas, wonderful, exotic, smart, brilliant presence.  :worship  :worship

@Darien, please just jump out of the window!! Damien is bleeding to death.

@ The rest of you players.  For those of us in the U.S. it is the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday.  Well since this will be my last post until next Monday, I just wanted to say to all, HAPPY THANKGIVING!!

Sorry, about that, too tired to concentrate :p  will edit when I can be bothered. Would also like to point out, if you are fiddling with the hilt of Mo'epher (hope that's how its spelt!) I would have to see it, as it is always carried on your back...or at least that was my interpretation...?

Title: Re: Postyness of Kain
Post by: Kain Cristar on November 27, 2005, 05:56:22 PM
Mo'epher is unsheathed, it was taken out a while back. Right now since he is holding only the handle and only lightly, we must assume it is point downwards in the stone, or dirt, pathway on which we stand. So yes, Mo'epher can be seen very clearly by you, though the Mage behind me would have a harder time seeing it, since he is both turned the wrong direction i believe, and he has to look through kain, which is hard to do. What you will have a hard time seeing, is him messing with his spell components, since they are all within his loose cloak, and the pockets are on the inside, and his hand that had held the diamond is putting the diamond back within the cloak. So the motion of his hand disappearing from the cloak and then appearing again after some suffling is explained.:evil   Annother think you will see is a screaming Mage if he follows me and tries to cast any kind of spell. Mo'epher's power wax by night fall, and night is falling.

Kalean (sorry if I have misspelled your name) How do you determine that Kain is an elf, you have only seen his hands. Everything else is covered. You have not seen his face. I am just wondering for a point of clarification. Also, how do you know what spell Kain is casting? If anything you would sence that some of Kain's Car'all leaves himself. But I think even that is unlikely, as there is a wind spel that allows a mage to see Car'all, If you can sense car'all without such a spell, then what is it's use. Your character is not even that experianced with magic, so it is strange that he knows what random wind magic feels like. Maybe something more common, like clap of thunder, but Sense Aura, that is just wierd. I don't mean to criticize you, though I know I am doing just that, yet it seems like maybe you are doing thinks that you would not be able to do. I find it odd that Kain has to cast spells to sense if you are a mage or not, and you can simply tell by looking at him. Maybe I am hounding you, Maybe I am wrong and mages can sence mages by instinct alone. But even when I cast sense aura, if it hits a mage more powerful than myself, I cannot snse that mage. So how is it that your character can sense the prowess, and morality, of a more powerful mage? And something from an only rp point, It might be better for your style to go into more depth. I realize that i probably post with too much depth. Yet, I would like you to explain why Kalean feels that the female elf is stupid? Does he even really understand what Kain is saying, does he see the ironic twist on his words, how would he know that she cut him in line? OR does he just hate women? Is it a darker trait? Just a tip from a fool, if you know what I mean, jelly bean. :guilty

I'll clear up the little elf(s) thing. Also your Character is a level 5 wind mage with 7 commonly used spells, mine is a level 5 water mage with 12 commonly used spells, as far as I see it the charaters are equal unless wind is some how over water, I was under the impression that the four elements were equal but hey maybe I'm wrong. Thats what I was baseing my post on. If it really bothers you I can extend my posts, it does really bother me either way.:)

Title: Re: Postyness of Kain

detail is always good yes. hm and aura's cannot be felt unless you have that certain gift for sensing aura's (which should be in the cd...) or if you have that certain spell do that. Or if you are really high mage and such things just... go autamicly without having to cast for it.

Just thought to make it clear. Hm the more detail the more i like it is my opinion, Tell your tale as a novel and don't just post your actions.

@Kain:

Just in general; I too go into depth with my character sometimes, Yet i really bother myself towards the fact that it influences anothers post. As if they make their post based upon the thoughts i made. No really they should read it but their character should nevertheless ignore the whole part about what he thinks. Darién isn't suppoced to be an open book by the RP-characters. Only towards those who play them. Just to let them know what force it is that causes his strange and unpredictable actions to be....

Lol, I had an image of Darien trying to sneakily steal Mo'pher, which is longer than he is tall I believe. We will certainly have a showdown, but you will have to kill kain before you can get your grubby paws on the midnight blade. Darien is going to fear magic much more after I am through with him!:wink2  :evil

@ kaelen

Uh, Kain is a level five under Ximaxian terms he has been enhancing his magical prowess for nearly a century. As I understand it, the Ximaxian level system is but a basis of power, an approximation. Kain was kicked out of Ximax before he was given a graduation, but if allowed he could easily come back and gain that sixth level. He is just to evil to do so. Kain has been casting magic for two centuries, it is his passion and his obsession. He does little else than rage and summon the car'all of the world to his might. This makes him a very powerful level five.

The various elements have various strengths and weaknesses. When it come to magical battle, water does not have the damaging capacity of Wind or Fire, which are the more violent elements. I am unsure of water's greatest benfiets, though I believe it is a physical healing strain correct? So the elements are unequal on a single field, but blessed with different strenghts and weaknesses.

Kain also has Mo'epher, which enhances his spells, more powerful, more evil, more life drain. While it does hinder him, it makes him a more powerful mage.

Lastly, a level five mage can cast any spell of his element that is level five or lower without much strain, and higher ones depending on his power. Those five shown spells are just the most commonly used, with links so it is simple to referance what I post about.

Fear? Darién knows no fear, He simply hates it, that is all. Don't think that once you begin casting that Darién is going to run of screaming like a little girl. Oh no,... Darién shall always be hard to defeat. Actually there are only few opponents on the boards who could match his power.... He was born in conflict, raised to fight and stand his man in the criminal territory's and perfected his skills day by day. A more devoted assassin can not be found. Bad luck is his worst weakness, And during battle he tarts his luck factors a lot...

You can take his spells much more effectively, maybe even live to tell the tale. I'll take the pleasure of killing him. All of you new comers are talking about magic and such.  In this time period of Voldar, magic is feared by most people.  It is not known by most.  Ximax is not even known, I doubt if it has even been built yet.  Anyone finding out you possess such powers would fear you and try and kill you, if they could, especially Captain Norman Graaves and all of Voldar.

Once this new army arrives if they find out about your powers, then they may take you as spies for this new army and try and kill you.  Please take that into account when you enter the city and want to use your magic.

Also very very important. Please read the update thread as it will update you on what is happening in Voldar.  Also if you read back in the OOC, you will read my idea about the next chapter of Voldar, once this one nears its conclusion.

Kali, I will write to you as soon as I can with my idea and I could use your help, thanks.

Capher.

@Darien, yes magic always existed, but to most people of this age it is more myth, and something to be feared.

Kain, no do not take away your magic.  I just wanted you to be aware of what would probably be the reaction of most of the townspeople and guards in Voldar if you use it.

To everyone else who is using magic at this time, please read the above message to Kain, you can have magic, even use it if you wish, just do not be surprised of the negative reaction from most in Voldar.

I would never ever take away someone's skills, weapons, or magic if that is what their character uses and was approved by the Admin's.

@Grunok, if you are around please lets take care of Trelor and the King as soon as possible.  Thanks.

And I'm sorry, I know I should have posted to say that earlier, but what with the busyness I never really had the chance to sit down and think about what my problem was apart from said busyness  *Feels awfully guilty for holding up the story*  Sorry everyone!  I will endeavour to write something tomorrow morning.  The problem is I am working full time over the summer, and what with my volunteer work and cooking dinner and spending time with my fiance (not that I get time for that anymore) I am going to bed at midnight and getting up at 6am to spend any time at all on Santh... I don't know how Art does it!  Ok, anyway, now I am just whinging, I really need to go to sleep now.  If you can let me know the type of post you're wanting Capher (player vs opponent or me-control-all-npcs-and-write-story) I will get Grunok back on the warpath agian :)

@Grunok, Wow I never knew you had such a busy life.  I guess I forget sometimes what it means to juggle so much.  No matter what RL always takes precedence!!  As far as the story, I will begin with Trelor hearing you coming for him, then you can do the rest: IE novel style. OK?

@Teri and others since it is nightfall I suggest you head for Arth's spot.  There you will be able to not only converse amongst yourselves but also get information as to what has been happening in Voldar.  The perfect place for you newcomers to go.  Just remember to acknowledge those already there, or even those who show up.  Even if its a short description, feeling, ect... about that person.

Capher, Since you aren't sending any opposition after me i can assume to have gotten away? And where would you like me next? The mod shall guide me right? And i too would love to kill the king, Why does Grunok get to kill the king and not me :p  :biggrin  lol

Kelsadin - I am afraid your post has some serious errors. Not that I'm the moderator here or anything, but this is Santharia, there are some things I think Capher would agree with me that you should note, namely, the monetary system of Santharia.

Santharian Currency can be found at this page. It really isn't that hard, but it definitely helps you blend in better.

AArianna there are stables at Arth's.

Kel, I agree with Teri, using the monetary system in Santharia would be better.  Also Kain and others who use color for their speech, please pick a color that is readable to all.  I am having a hard time reading your posts because of the color you have chosen.  I, myself prefer to use "italics" when thinking to myself and then use "bold" when I name someone in the begininng. And for speech just use quotation marks just like as if you were reading a book.  But that is my preference, and I realize that alot of you like color, just please pick one that is readable against the threads background, which is usually a dark blue.  Thanks.

Important  I am going to announce probably within the next week or so a whole different scheme of things for Voldar.  I am going to try with the help of you and others to add another chapter to the story, but it will involve the other city state, Nyermyersis, I hope I spelled that right.

The storyline for right now is that the King of Nyer wants Voldar and its lands.  He has decided to attack.  I am going to be asking for players to play both sides.  The players for Nyer will have to include at least:
11. A general for the invading army.
2. An Admiral for the invading navy.
3. A Mod or more for Nyer.
4. A King for Nyer.

Any player who thinks he/she can fit this bill will be asked to put their request to me. He/she must have extrodinary RP Skills as well as being able to uinderstand the storyline and be willing to take direction from the Mods, whoever they may be.  Right now the Mods are myself and Kalina.

All of this is tentative, I repeat tentative, at the moment.  I just wanted to give all of you players and those who want to join in a game, a heads up.  That way you can decide which side you want to play on. Nyer or Voldar.  Each city state will have their strengths and weaknesses and no one knows how the war will end, including me.  That will be determined by myself and the other Mods.

BTW I give credit to this idea to Manik who I believe said he and Darien had been throwing it around, but I believe I can put it into reality.  But it will need alot of cooperation from you players and most important the go ahead from the Admins.

This war probably will not start in earnst until after the first of the year, as I have to move, details of the two armies must be sorted out, players sign up sheets for both sides will have to be made, etc etc...   So now is the time to begin thinking about where you wish to go.  If you think you have the RP skills to take over the positions I mentioned and there maybe more. He/she must also be able to write in good NPC's.  Why? because there will be alot of them and they will be killed, injured, maimed.

I know that personally characters who are being played by a real person cannot be killed unless that person allows it to be, but that character can be hurt, injured, maimed...etc.  I will not allow, I repeat I will not allow god like characters, i do not care if they are master magicians or not.  If you think you can tear apart anyone or anything and not come away without being scratched or worse, then you are playing in the wrong game.

I hope you all understand this!!  Because I am very serious about it.  Even now I see signs of characters who are becoming very close.  I will warn you once, then if you do not tone your rhetoric down I will give you one more chance, then if you still insist, I will boot you from this game!!

I want all to have an enjoyable experience, but I also want a realistic game with realistic characters.

I think I have said enough.  Thank you for listening.

Hey Capher, thought I'd stop there to give Tilath a chance to catch up.  Grunok is fairly sure that Trelor is dead, but he may be wrong (particularly if Tilath is demanding that he get to torture him!).  :biggrin   I will leave it up to you with Tilath to check if he is dead or not.  Otherwise, up the stairs we go!  *looks around for stairs*  If you can give me a description of how many guards and with what weapons, when we get to the King, that'd be good.  :hug

@ Darien, it sounds good, but the idea needs to be approved by the Admins first.  But I will keep you in mind.

@ Grunok, I will post something and then you can continue your rampage.:hammer

@Takashi, for what army would you like to play for? Nyer or Voldar?

There will be an official sign up sheet for each army once this idea gets approved by the Admins.  Then after that we will go from there in a logical progression.  I suspect with myself going off the air in about a week, and then the Christmas and New Years Holiday's that everything won't be in place until after the first of the year.  It may be sooner, but I am not counting on it.

Hm Kain,... Just wondering....

Quote:
When Kain casts Static bolt, he unleashes and thick black stream of energy from his outstreched palms. The writhing blast connects him and one opponent for a few seconds, frying his foe to a charred husk, and feeding Kain his life force. The bolt can be manuvered with Kain's palms, as the normal static bolt. The rush he feels is like falling off of a mountain. He feels alive as it drains his foes. The target feels a burning sensation, much like being hit with lightning. They can sense their flesh boiling for as long as they stay concious. Also they should feel their nerves spasm as they are overloaded, a sharp pain that roils across their body. Much like being struck with actual lightning. More hearty foes, who can ignore the pain to a degree, sense something like a river flowing down form them, along the center of the black energy, and into Kain. They can feel their strength leaving their body, and a sensation much like having large amounts of your blood pulled from your body.

is this what you are doing to me and the horse?

Or is it just some wave of darkness, which is only meant to blind me? (note: the effect/name of the actual spell would be nice to mention when you throw your powers at me :)  )

That would be the spell, dark bolt. It is being cast just before you land on the earth, and kain stepping back is ment as a dodge to the crushing hooves. If I did not mention dark bolt I had ment to, and I sorry that I did not. Slipped my mind while I tried to envision the action I guess.

EDIT

I mentioned that Kain readied a darkbolt in the original post, nextime I will be more concrete about the fact that this is the actual spell I am casting.

EDIT

Just how angry will the peasentry be? Is it like run out of town angry or feared and discriminated?

The admins are a go on your idea of "combining", even though from the looks of it, it might be only a short time or I don't know. They don't have any direct ideas but they do wish us luck.

I will email you and such, I don't know if you wanted to keep that idea or not. I will see if I can come up with alternative ideas just in case to attempt to be helpful. We shall find a fight for the characters. :)

Thanks Kalina, that is good news.  Now we need to pick Mod's for Nyer.  Manik Targin has expressed his willingness to mod again and so has Darien.  Since they were the two original Mods in the first place, I do not think there should be any problems there.  I will supervise those two from time to time just to make sure things are going well.  Do you think the Admins will allow those two to go back being Mods again?

Then the next thing is to put up an official sign up sheets for each army including what postition they want to play along with a short, summary of what is going to happen.  Guess I have some work to do.  I will await your email Kalina. BTW I am assuming that you and I will be Mods here in Voldar??

Kain, the peasantry would be frightened and rushing off to tell the guards so that they can take care of you.  The guards, well who knows what they will do.  If Damien Scar was still Commander, things would be different, but with Captain Graaves as the head of the Guards now, who knows what his reaction might be.  So take your chances. lol

Hi all this is my last post until after I move and get settled into my prison, ah my "assisted living quarters."

I figure once I get back online, I will start the process of sign up sheets for Nyer, and Voldar armies. I will assign the main General for each army, one Admiral for Nyer's navy, and a King for each city. They will be played by real players. The rest of the players and NPC's will be determined by the Generals, Admiral and Kings I have chosen. So to that extent you must figure that I will be very picky about whom I choose for each figure head.

@Grunok, I give you permission to kill King Cedric and his guards as well as puppet Sgt. Tilath.  Once the King is killed and his guards, since it is night and if you do it quickly as possible maybe no one will hear and we can sleep and hide in the Kings chambers until his royal attendant comes to wake him up.  Since the Kings chambers are so far removed from everything else in the Palace.

Anyway till I see you, have fun all. If I do not make it back before Christmas and New Years,  All have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  But i expect to hopefully be back online by the 19th, but who knows. :shrugs:

riddle me this. I dont mean to go all, Im better than you, but I think that you may have missread my post. Kain simply backs into a dark shadowy alley with a view of the stables so that I may watch you as the gaurds come to grab you... So what Im wondering is, if the lightning strikes and I am watching you (being illuminated by lightning it will be hard for you to hide, unless you are farther behind the stables than I had thought.) how do you walk out of the stables without me noticing. I dont mind if you sneak up to me, your an assassin and I dont have any kind of super sight. But you have a few errors that are bugging me. First of all, I am right there, watching, so you dont have to jump across three or four roof tops to get to me, I am right at the mouth of the alley looking into the stables. Also I am not walking, I am standing and watching you. So there is no movement.

Hi Capher.  I finally managed to finish my mission!  I read the first installment to my fiance and he was surprised... well, I won't spoil it for you. ;)   Grunok is now waiting for advice.  I thought Tilath might take Grunok to the same healers Damian is at and then Grunok could wake up and see Damian there, which would be kinda cool, but I don't know what the situation downstairs is so I thought I'd wait for you.  That and I'm really busy atm.  Luckily I have 2 weeks off after xmas and I just quit my Sunday job (no time for RL stuff either :b  ) so I will have a bit more time in the coming weeks, especially at- and post-xmas.  Hope your 'prison' is comfortable :b , I guess you have a bit to be thankful for that you can get assissted living as many couldn't afford it or couldn't get assistance for it.  Even if it does suck! :hug   Hope you are well and adjusting ok.

P.S.: like my new avatar and sig?  The avatar was inspired by that scene in Voldar when Grunok was smiling "like a great green cherub with fangs" - I don't remember if it was at Arth's or at the gate - and the second one I drew 'cos I wanted a more serious face of Grunok.  The words are Talia's though I don't know if she'll remember writing them; she said them about one of my other chars but I think they suit Grunok the best!

Hi all, this is going to be brief as I am still not hooked up in my "prison"

@Grunok, I promise to read your ending. I think taking you where Damien is would be healing for both of you.  I love the Avatar and the quote. LOL

@Kali, will contact you through wayn.  We need to work somethings out.

@The rest of you all.  Please be patient I promise that the start of this new idea will begin soon.  Many changes will take place: Auditions for the major players, decisions upon how the two cities will work out, Maybe having a special place just for the meeting of the two armies outside of the walls of the cities, and using the cities as planning, rssting, recruiting areas as well as for spies to sneak in.  Anyway those are just some ideas running around in my head as well as many others. So keep your eyes open.  But I am not going to run the show like I did Voldar, I will want input and decision making from not only me, but Kali and those we choose to play the major players.

I know the holidays, are sometimes the best times for you players to play as you are home.  But it should be a time for family as well.  So take time to be with family and friends this holiday season.  If you do not hear from me until after Christmas: I wish you all a joyous, blessed Christmas with friends and family.

Take Care All...I miss you and will see you all soon.

That I am back before Christmas day
It's a wonderful feeling, to be writing once more
Though my wrists are getting quite sore

I've been busy in my absence working on school
Learning useless things like the golden rule
Two interesting things though have happened to me
And I hope they change the writing that you will soon see

I'm getting published online, it is quite true
And writing one other story, I'm doing that too
But I digress from the point of all this
And that is that you guys I really did miss:hug

Hehehe.  I'm baaa-aaack and coming with a vengeance.  I don't like Darien, which seems to put me in the vast majority.:biggrin   I like Thai he makes me money; and it appears to be mutual, the money thing that is.  Well, to be fair, I tend to like everybody but Darien attacked Thai and sort of Damien.

Hi Capher.  I'm still here, I'm just not too sure what to do.  I guess you puppetted me a bit again with the 'no noise' thing so I was a bit unsure of where to go, asmy post would have involved Grunok making noise.  Also I wasn't sure if my next post should be in the temple or where... I guess I'm a bit lost with the whole thing...

Title: Re: Battle in the morning

@ Grunok, Did I puppet you?  I usually do not puppet unless given instruction to do so.  I am sorry if i did.  I guess I will reread the posts and edit.  As far as where we are, yes, we are heading, all of us; my guards, Tilath, and you are heading for the temple.  So our next posts should be in the temple.

Damien is already there along with some other players you know, or at least they should be there.

@the others, with the mention of the King being dead, I will now introduce Lord Voltigar upon the scene, who takes over as king and then Lycheus is thrown out of court and when all that happens the war between Voldar and Nyer begins.  However before all of that happens, Kali and I need to do some brainstorming.  So hang in there players.  I know that Bahran has put up a story called"War of the Blood" based upon the real history.  It may or may not take away some of you players from this idea, but whatever you choose, I think Bahran's story sounds terrific!!

BTW Grunok, :thumbup  on becoming a full fledged member of the development team.  I loved your bio, it made me laugh.

Title: Re: I'm back!!
Post by: Grunok the Exile on December 30, 2005, 09:31:22 AM
Thanks - and that's the short version! ;)

Yeah, as far as puppeting - Grunok would probably have made a bit of noise, but you said he didn't which is puppeting in that I didn't get to decide that myself.

Also, you didn't give me/him the option of whether or not to let them pull the arrows out of him.  Any warrior who is concerned with survival would not let anyone pull arrows out until there are clean bandages and a healer around, as there is going to be a lot more blood after the arrows come out.  Unfortunately for Grunok, orcs are not well versed in healing (the idea is to die in battle, after all) and so he wouldn't know not to pull them out.  Also, that was his first real battle so even if they did know how to care for their wounded, Grunok wouldn't know as he has never been around post-battle healing.

So to sum up, it would be good if you changed the bit about Grunok making no noise (just removing it so I can decide would be good).  Other than that I give you permission to go ahead and pull out the arrows as you have 'cos he wouldn't know better.

How long do you think it would take for them to get to the Temple of Nehtor?  I assume it's in the inner city also? And is it ok for me to assume that Tilath and Turin are still supporting Grunok when they get to the Temple?

Title: Re: Battle in the morning

Kalina, I completely forgot about that other email, sorry.  I will try it.  But as you will read in the General OOC thread for Caelereth, I think you are correct about having both cities and I kind of cancelled the war.  I guess I am too impatient sometimes and also when my visions have logistical problems I gave up to easily.

I still think that this thing can work, but we may need to start a whole new story as you suggested.  The problem I see is in that it will leave Voldar and Nyer, the two threads already up, left behind and that is the one thing I did not want to happen.

I did not realize so many things needed to be worked out.  I just do not see why the two cities could not somehow be used and still have a war.  With just a war thread.

@ the rest of the players, please be patient Kalina and I will work this thing out.  Until then, please amuse yourselves by having some side-plots going amongst yourselves.  Thanks.

We don't need a completely different story, just a separate forum. I see it merely as a skirmish between too men of power, greedy for what the other has. Until the War of the Blood...it isn't a full fledged war and will not nearly as much effort to bring into place. I really think we could pull it off. (though luca has her doubts >.> lol) It isn't a completely separate story because we will be utilizing the cities still for a continual plot line, just the main "battle stuff" if you will, will be separated from the city

Attention to all players in Voldar.  A new backstory will soon be posted as well as lists for whatever side you wish to be on; Voldar or Nyermersis.  In the meantime, I will be rearranging the board a bit so do not be alarmed.

I know this waiting for this story to get going has probably put some of you off, but I promise if you give it a chance you will see how much fun it will turn out to be.  Just pop in once in a while and see how things are progressing.  When the time comes to start choosing sides, you will know, besides us mods will put out a roster asking for players.

The backstory all fits in with what has been and already had been happening in Voldar so it will fit like a ball inside a glove.  I am really excited about this next "Chapter" if you please, of Voldar.  I hope you will be too.

I have returned from x mas vacation and will post much more often, Kain will take whatever side that Darien is opposing. And if you find it appropriate, lead a group of them to any missions you may set forth.

You have lived a life of cruelty and atrocity, you have bathed in the blood of the innocent, you have considered every act of depravity and your corruption knows no bounds. I am the angel of justice, I am the accumulation of all of your sins. Prepare for your redemption.

Well, at least we got most of it back. I haven't looked over everything to see what all we don't have but at least there is something here.

Let us know what you want to do Capher - I guess the choice here is the same as in Twilight - either try to repost everything, or just continue on from where we remember we were.  :)

Ok, I have looked over the entire board.  From what I discovered it seems we lost the last thread(s) of each posting. In other words just the recent postings are missing.  The older ones, are still here.  For instance, in Arth's spot the last post is when Kain is addressing a youth.  Whom I do not know but that is the last post.  When I checked the temple thread, the last post there is Ratdragon pacing the floor.

Also some of the threads seem to have been moved around from their last position.  Which is what I was trying to do, but I cannot figure out how to do it.  I wanted the top half of the thread meant for Voldar and the bottom half with a wall inbetween, for Nyermersis.  I was also trying to decided whether there were some threads that were not necessary and never used and delete them and that is when I got into trouble.  Moving and deleting threads...never again, unless I know what I am doing.

This is my suggestion: I am sure most people know where they were and what they were about to do.  But I suggest that we stop all that, pretend we all finally went to sleep (for those who have not) and when Kalina posts the backstory and we place the places from Nyer that Kalina and I and the major players of Nyer think will be most appropriate for those playing Nyer's side and the sign up lists.  Then we should be ready to begin the next Book of Voldar, I have decided to call; "Lycheus's Revenge"  If that is all right with Kalina.

So what do you all think?

The most recent posts missing would explain why none of my posts show up.  Are you all still excepting new characters?  Do I need to repost in the join section?

I'd also like to take part in the war. I realise that a single Brownie might not be *quite* useful for either side, but hey! Anything that can fly an owl around should have at least something to offer, right? Not to mention the deadly darts :b .

As Tulpje is... err... will be new in town, she'll probably take the side of the first person she encounters who is nice to her and explains everything from his/her point of view.

When will the gate open, if I may ask?

There is a joining thread.  And Lady Cheri, as long as your CD is posted no you do not have to ask to rejoin.  Tulpje I can see alot of scenarios where someone on either side of the war could use your talents.  Just ask to join, post your CD, and whent the gates open, enter.

As far as when the gates open, that is up in the air at the moment.  Kalina had the backstory and was supposed to put it up, but that was before we lost Voldar, (MY MISTAKE) and then Kalina was blamed and now she has decided to take some time off.  I do not know how long.

Since Kalina and I collaborated on the backstory, and worked things out with everything.  I know somewhat of what is happening, but she was so much better at writing things out in clear, precise detail.  I miss her and hope she comes back soon.

In the meantime, I will try and set up the city as two cities and also put up the lists for those who want to play major parts and for those who just want to play on either side.  It should be up by tomorrow or Monday at the latest.  Thank you for your patience.

Hi, Capher,

I'm going away for two weeks, so it's no use joining now. I'll join when I get back :)
