I would like to be a part of this story. here are my two approved characters. Take your pick of one and I will "try out" on it.

Pikel Thunderstone - An alchoholic gnome assassin who is perpetually cheerful, fun to be with, and generous in the extreme. Is currently in Helente, WOTF, The World beyond, and voldar. (voldar will soon be non existant.)

The Ghost A hate filled, albino elf whos only lot in life is to cause pain to others, which he is quite adept at doing. The GHost is currently in Bardavos and Nyermysis.

Take your pick and I will try out on it.

P.S. is the audition a post in responce to a post of your choice, or any post that i have made with chosen character?

What? Why must we speak of my profession? Come, let us have a drink. - Pikel

Pikel

Hello I would like to join this story also. Here are my two characters:

Tythle Fi Thea- A noble Ranger, who is serching for his lost family and has had adventures along the way. He is right now in WOTF,Helente, Nyermysis, and In The Eyes of Her Son.

Shaeo Nodrae- A joyful artist who is often cuaght in bad situation becuase of her trusting nature. She is only in Bardavos right now.

Here is a sample of my rping:

Tythle's eyes flicked back and forth picking out the achers that were firing on the big man and he set is sights on the first. The man was to the left of the giant half concealed in a bush. The elf turned and let fly, the arrow cut through the air with a slight spin on it to make sure no sight breeze would make him miss his target.

The arrow ripped into the mans skull, knocking the man back instantly killing him. He drew again from his quiver but this time he took out two arrows and set then onto the bow string. The other two rogue bowmen had made the slight mistake of being to close to each other, turning the bow sideways Tythle spread the arrows apart, each aimed at a single bowman.

He centered him self waited and moment testing for a breeze, or his shot would be entirety off. There was no breeze to be felt so he let the string go. The two arrows flew through the air both hitting their mark, one arrow caught its target in the shoulder causing the man to drop his bow. The other seared into his companions neck. The man struggled for a moment, clutching his throat and gurgling before he dropped forward and breathed his last.

Now that the three archers had been taken care of, Tythle hooked his bow on to his quiver, snapping into place securely on his back and drew out is twin daggers, glinting in the sunlight he waited to see who would take on the big man first, or the who big man would go for.

Tythle, could you provide links to your CDs, I can find Shaeo's, but not Tythle's, and having both linked would be a great conveniance. Also which character were you most wanting to join with?To be honest Shaeo would be an interesting addition if we can find a way to fit her in, but Tythle seems like he would be the more useful, but then I can't find his CD thread so I have not exactly read about the character yet. Really I am undecided on which character I would rather have join. ;)

OK, I will have Teri give it another once over now that we have a referance to the character. We may not come to a descission right away, and if you are chosen I am not sure how soon we will start you in as some of the upcoming plot elements are as of yet uncertain.

Also if it is descided that Shaeo would make a better addition is that OK with you?

OK Tythle, here's the scoop. You are almost there, your post looks good, though it has been noticed that the character seem played a little to close to the powerful side, but as long as the line is not crossed you should do alright. One other comment I will make is to watch your spelling and grammer, Teri sayed it lead to some confusion for her. *Shruggs*

Ok, well anyway, enough criticism. Our descission is leaning towards Shaeo. We would kinda like to get a few more character that are not the adventurer types as we already have a few. So what we are looking for is some ideas you can come up with for why and how she would join the group.

Here is some background for you to work with...

The group (Talia, Terra, Teri, Hajarian and Capher?) are in Aer‘ylffherim in the Quallian. There would likely not be many chances to meet up with Shaeo while we are there, if any. Hajarian will be nowhere to be found, as his is inactive and has stepped his character aside to allow the story to continue moving, likewise Teri will also not be very active. Once we leave the Quallian we will likely head to Milkengrad as our next destination, as that is where Hajarian expects us to be heading next, we will of course make stops along the way. From there we would likely catch a ship to Northern Sarvonia, and travel to the Prominent Mountains, so likely all character joins will occure between the Quallian and leaving Milkengrad.

That is for the most part what is planned, there are no real details as of yet.

Also feel free to message me if you have questions. All my messaging information is with my CD in the CD thread, or in my account profile.

_______POST__________________

The forest was more alive then ever. Sounds echoed trough the trees.
The sounds of swords clashing and the whirling sounds of arrows followed by screams of rage and suffer. The tight parts of the forest where blindingly dark. Smoke rose up from the tree’s, beaconing the only lighter sides of forest with ongoing battle between a band of heroes and raping criminals.

A few Dashes away from the battlefield on a deserted dark and cold place in the forest darkened by the tight leaves and the dark-clouded weather had played a horrifying scene.

A huge Oak beaconed a small open spot in the tight forest at the western side away from the caves where the battle had taken place. The shadow of the giant tree overlapped one figure of a beheaded body laying still on the floor. A bleeding corpse of a criminal which was killed only a moment a go.

A grin appeared on his face as he watched the bleeding corpse from above. High in the Oak on a thick branch was the figure of a man visible. A shade covered him; making him hard to see with the untrained eye. A vicious assassin trained in stealth in combination with his powerful skill in two-handed-sword-fighting. This was his territory; Forests….

The black bandana endings danced glorious in the wind. His left hand kept his war-sword in a loose grip with the sharp pointy edge resting on the branch. Blood crawled down the cold steel dripping down in the dark bloody mess of the beheaded man’s corpse underneath him.

It was Darien Gulath who had gained his title: Predator for hunting and killing his victims in the forests around milkengrad. He was somebody who was heavily wanted for his crimes in the helcrah regions. He took Mathis Mallisters quest to stop the criminal Borik in the company of a experienced and special chosen team. A team he hoped to be thinned out when the final reward would be given. He had been drunk during the mission-briefing and past out shortly afterwards. Then he had moved quickly that morning to catch up with the small squad.
When he found their fresh tracks he lowered his speed and stayed out of the sight of the travelling company. He was more in his element as a freelancer, And did not really like to chit-chat anyways. He had decided to travel alone and see where faith would bring him.

At a certain moment he felt something was wrong. The forest was more quiet then else. He bound his horse to a tree and slowly moved trough the tree’s. He followed the fresh tracks and found the company’s horses and one car filled with supplies. He then examined the surrounding forests but did not spot anyone who had stayed behind to watch the creatures and supplies. What was going on? What where they doing that was more important then their own personal supplies? Darien could not figure it out with his twisted mind…
He slowly took his time to examine the supplies in the car. He ate something and took some of the supplies. But then as after a silence before the storm;…. Battle from the north-eastern directions! Darien moved quickly trough the forests towards the event out of pure curiosity. He could not understand… Why would these heroes confront criminals who where waiting for them in a ambush? Was it Borik? Had they found him already? Or some of his lower ones in command?
Darien stopped his quick sprint when he heard nearby footsteps towards his direction. It was almost as if he disappeared with his dark clothes in the giant shadow of the huge oak.
The footsteps came closer and closer. Three or four men was Darien’s estimation. His senses had sharpened a hundred times. Everybody was his enemy now… He felt as if he was trapped in a corner. For a moment it was the fear that would take a hold of him. But when the footsteps approached even closer it was as if he flipped a button. Shutting of his fears, emotions and everything else on his mind. Only focussing him on the figure’s that where coming closer….
The next moment 1 figure walked straight past Darien in the direction of the ongoing battle.
Darien dropped his stinking cloak and put one of his hands to his shoulder grasping his sword.
Another figure approached only a few moments afterwards. One of them with a bow and another with a sword. Only one pair of footsteps was still behind him. Darien stared at the armed  men’s backs. They had never noticed him. Where these men heroes or some of Borik’s force? The tension grew higher as the final pair of footsteps approached from his left.
He was ready to make his move now…. The poor unlucky one would never know what had hit him….

In a quick move he flipped his sword out if it’s sheath from his back and jumped from behind the oak where he swung his sword at the location of the footsteps. The sword penetrated the man’s neck and sunk down deep into the tree.
For a moment the man just stood there holding his throat, He started to vomit blood and fell down in the muddy grass. His head rolling away from his body…. The ground around him turned red.

Darien had watched the body with his eyes focussed on the bleeding neck. Then he pulled his sword out of the oak and climbed the tree. In a few agile movements he reached the high branch of the tree watching down at the corpse laying underneath him.

He focussed him on the events around him but all he could see was a fire in the nearby distance. And the shadows of figure’s sinking their swords in each other.

The two others who had past him disappeared in the darkness of the battle that went on and on. For moments he sat there…. Hidden from anyone but watching as a spectator.

Hi all,

I cannot claim to have as much writing experience in Santharia as the others, though I have been posting in the Thirsty Herald for some time now.  I do my best to post every second day.

My character, Ta'las, is an 'adventurer' type, but I have tried to include some background around the Shendar's quest for enlightenment (called Second Reality) that I could integrate into a story to round out the character.

Here's my audition:

Ta’las looks deep into the flickering flames, while behind him the elderly priestess speaks her incantation in a language he does not fathom.  Above him a tapestry of stars litters the desert sky, and a strong wind bends the tall silvery blades of Ar’pun.  The priestess’ voice reaches a crescendo, and Ta’las looks over his shoulder to see if she is all right.  He returns his gaze to the fire, and jumps back and shields his face as the flames suddenly tower above him and turn a cobalt blue.  The Shendar draws his blade as the flames coalesce into the form of a woman.

“Do not fear, warrior,” the priestess says from behind Ta’las, who looks dubiously at her.  The priestess smiles.  “This is but an image of the one who you must seek out.”

Ta’las looks back, more closely studying the figure in the flames.  The lean, muscular woman looks to be a couple of spans more than five fores.  Her hair is tied in a tight plait that falls down her back, and held in place with a small braided leather ribbon.

“Who is she?”

“Talia Sturmwind,” the woman answers quietly.

He is surprised to note that, though she is dressed in the manner of a Shendar, she does not bear a physical resemblance to his tribe.  “Why is she dressed so?” Ta’las asks.

“She was taken in by the Shendar, and raised as one of us,” the priestess answers.

Ta’las looks over the sword she wields.  He has not seen such a blade before – the gold pommel has been fashioned in the shade of an angel, it's feet form the handle which rest on a large sapphire, while the wings form the pommel guard.  Strange markings that Ta’las muses must be magical writing flow down the length of the blade.  Just above the pommel, more words are written in a language he also does not recognize.

“Why must I find her?  Is she in danger?”  Ta’las could not imagine a Shendar warrior would need his help.  “What can I do for her?”

The priestess chuckles, guessing his thoughts.  “Death looms over all of us, Ta’las, as it does for this woman and her companions.  You can be of some help to her, perhaps a comforting presence simply because of your similar upbringing, but you are not her saviour.”  Then her gaze becomes more piercing, finally forcing Ta’las to look away.  "It is time to grapple with those inner doubts that plague your conscience, Ta'las.  She and her companions can be of help to you in that journey.”

Ta’las angrily sheaths his blade.  “I am already at peace with myself, mother-sister.”  He starts to walk away from the fire, but his mother-sister grabs his arm.

She digs her nails into his skin.  “You presume much, Ta’las!  You have always walked away from trouble all your life – never faced what lurks in the dark of your mind.”

The Shendar warrior glares at his mother-sister, and then looks down at the ground. There is a long pause as he considers her words.  Ta’las has always hated remaining in one place for too long, and always used the excuse that his occupation as a guide has kept him from attaining enlightenment through inner reflection.  “Where do I find her?” he finally asks, quietly.

“Look into the flames,” she bids him, as she nods at the fire.

He looks up, and sees the figure of the woman has been replaced by a complex image of a massive city complex.  The city is ringed by a series of three formidable white walls that increase in height closer to the city itself.  Three central gates and a number of stone towers guard the primary entrance to the city.  A palace of white marble, and four trees that seem to emanate light of their own sit on a hill in the center of the city.  Temples and other stone buildings are built into large squares within the city, whose broad streets, fountains and massive gardens tell of the city’s magnificence.

“It’s beautiful,” Ta’las says reverently.  “What is this place called?”

“Milkengrad.  You will find this woman and her companions in Milkengrad.”

Ta'las

@ Darien

Well I have two concerns with you.

First, integrating your character, as we really do not need more villans, and the fact that many of our characters don't seem the type to be excepting of some one like Darien. The characters are already pretty skiddish of others, I doubt your character would be able to gain sufficiant trust from them to want you with them. Honesly unless you can come up with some really good reasons they would except you, then I don't see it working from this angle.

Second is your roleplaying its self. Neither in my experiance with your RPing in Shadows (Though granted this is not much.), or your audition post show any significant signs of weaknesses, and to top it off I have for some time before now heard chatter of you over playing your character. This is a very big concern to me, as such, before I will seriously concider your character as an active member or even as in a guest appearance I would want to see a completed/finalized CD.

@Ta'las

Wow! This looks great! Even though I am trying to lean away from the adventurer type characters, I have to admit I really like this, and the integration idea within it. I will definatly have Talia look over it when she is back from her trip. With any luck, we will find a spot for you. :)

@Tythle

That would work, but what would be her modivation for joining the group, and what modivation would she provide for them to except her?

@All

The final descission will likely not be made untill Talia has returned from her trip.

hehe yes terra. But i was still a noob. And i do tend to overplay my character. But you judge me on something that happened a while ago. And did i not edit it immidiatly when i received bad critique....? Well for my cd... It as so many edits that still need to be done i'm working on it when i have the time. I just can't get it done faster. But for your issues i understand. Maybe if the time comes and you need a pearance of the mastervillain Darién or maybe the entire evil guild i pocess... Then you can let me know ;)  I'l be watching the evolvements around your cool story from a distance then.... :p

@Darien

Yah, I hope you do not think I was being too harsh. Honestly I am looking for a relative quality in posts, but also the characters play a part in my descission as well. YOu may note that I stated the same problems with integration for The Ghost to Pikel, so I am definatly not trying to single you out.

Anyway, definatly work on your character and RPing, and if we ever need some excitment and drawing a blong on demons or their minions to face we will keep you and/or The Ghost in mind.

@Tythle

Tythle do you have an alternate mode of contact I can use to contact you other than posting? There have been some changes in the planned plotline, and if you are chosen I will need to discuss Shaeo's in for the story.

Thythle, could you do another trial post with Shaeo? The character would be quite nice, but your post above doesn't show your ability to write her well - though she knows how to use her bow.
And as terra already mentioned: why would she want to go with a group of weird travelors who bring themselves in danger every other day?

Ta'las, Shendar brother, you are in. You could use your post above as your intro, but it needs some changes (mostly things you probably can't know - lremeber doing your CD and me commenting ;)  )

Will comment it later (tomorrow ) though

Yes there is: you can email me or if you have MSN at :whisper_loud777@hotmail.com

Here is a post for Sheao: Shaeo walked up to the city, any possible wind in the area around the city in the plains bordering seemed to leave the elfess unruffled. Amiee, her shingar cat padded contently beside her, purring slightly, from a recent meal. Unusually long, black fingernails curled around a long staff, topped with a Eagle. The elfess approached the gate.

@Talia
And I was thinking that , Sheao would be bored out of her mind and ask to draw one of the characters in the story so far. If accepted she could hear their story, and feel the need to help anyway that she could.

::Jumps into the air and shouts!::

Thanks guys!  :biggrin

I've looked over your most recent posts in the OOC section, so I'm spending the next little while reading up on the dwarves of Southern Sarvonia and the surrounding area.  It will be no problem to adjust my post so that the vision Ta'las sees is of some place near Tyr Donion (or as you deem appropriate).

Just FYI, I've been following Thalambath's Heart since becoming a member, and always hoped I'd have a chance to join this story in particular.  ;)

Post by: Abigail Nightwatch on July 12, 2005, 03:55:22 AM
Hopefully it is not to terribly late to request joining. I also have two characters, though one is still submitting requests to join while the other is actively in a thread.

Abigail Nightwatch is a well rounded adventurer who is the daughter of a famed and loved hero, Barret Nightwatch. She has a fond affinity for her father yet wishes to step out of his shadow and reputation and into her own. She is very used to being recognized by her last name and wishes to uphold the family traditions that go along with it. She is currently being played in Bardavos.

Faulse Nightshadow is an oddly large elfven warrior well trained in the fighting of duel shamshirs, elven scimitar type weapons. He is foolishly brave and loyal to the core. There isn't much unique about Faulse besides his freakishly large size and hairstyle.

RPing example:
::As Abigail rode up to the city gates, taking in its monumental splendor as it loomed overhead, she caught a glance of a lilthe man in rags dashing out of the gates. In pursuit she noted three city guards, their armor clanging as their heavy steps pounded down the dirt road after the man.

Carefully assessing the situation she wondered if she should intervine, trying to recall quickly what she had heard of the guards and government within this particular city. In spite of herself she decided to go with her instincts and assist the local law, vowing to help the frail looking man if she would find out later her assesment was misjudged.

As the ragged man panted towards Abigail on her mount, she lept off her horse Fairfeather towards the man, hoping she'd timed it correctly to tackle the man and stop him in his tracks.::

And another, this one with Faulse as the example:

"What do you mean you won't sell to a 'rebel elf'? Are you trying to be funny or something, cracking jokes about my heritage?" Faulse fumed at the man behind the counter. He was growing irritated at the mans taunting remarks and deragative terms as Faulse had tried to barter with him. Now the man bluntly let the large elf know that he simply would not sell to him.::

::Faulse tried hard not to let his anger get the best of him, the last thing he wanted was to be entangled with the local law.::
"Curses if you aren't the only shop in town that sells what I need. I'll tell you what, despite the fact that I don't like you, I'm willing to offer you double your listed price for that gem."

Anything else just let me know or shoot me ann e-mail.

Talia,

Just as a note, I talked to Abigail in IRC. I told her taht we are likely not excepting any new player, but that I would wait for you before I gave a definate yes or know.

I also think it might be a good idea to keep the auditions thread open so people can still audition for "Future Consideration" should we need more players in the future.

Terra, are we not looking for a male/adventurer, somone along the lines of what Koldar used to be?  Or is Ta'las going to take that place.  Though, with his disposition, and no offense to Ta'las, but his character is not a knight/hero type of person.

I like Abigail's rping style.  If perhaps she comes up with a hero/knight type of person to replace Koldar, could she not then play?  Or is there someone I do not know about that has asled, but, either I have forgotten, or have not seen the request.

I leave the final decision up to Talia though.  As she seems to know more about what/who is needed than me.

I posted already in the other thread - Faulse would not be bad, as kight however Morcanaan would be great, though I think ta'las is not far away from that role, why do you think he is different, Capher?

Talia, his CD states he likes to get along with people and he does not like to fight.  Does not a knight/warrior like to fight?

Of course Ta'las could be put in the postion of having to fight.  And he wants to learn.  So, yeah, he could be a somewhat Shendar warrior.  Or as I recall that is what he is trying to be, is it not?

As far as Morcaanan is concerned, what do you have in mind for him?

Capher.

Capher, you are right in your assessment that Ta'las has a friendly disposition, and does not fit the archetypical role of a knight.  What he has yet to do is attain Second Reality - or  the "truth of his being" - and such.  This has nothing to do with skill in combat, but rather is a path of enlightenment.

However, he is a skilled Shendar warrior - one does not slay a Rock Snake without having much skill.  When it is necessary, Ta'las will fill the warrior's role, though I also think it would be great if Morcanaan could join the story.

Thanks Ta'las for enlightening me on the Shendar's.  I guess I should read up more.

So Talia, what do you have in mind for Morcanaan?

Talia invited me to join Thalambath's Heart. Seems like you guys are in need of a brownie char. Raspberry, my brownie char, is not yet approved, but he already has one mod approval. Do you need an example of me RPing as Raspberry, or will any example of my RPing ability do?

(OOC: This is an example of me RPing as Raspberry. Enjoy.;)  )

Raspberry awoke to the sound of giants stalking through the forest. Only humans could possibly make that much noise, and their racket was surely angering the spirits of the forest. Raspberry said a quick word of recognition to the spirit of the tree that was his home and called for his faithful companion, ooai ohah. The bird swooped down from the perch that he had found among the branches of the tree and peered quizzically at Raspberry.

"Don't look at me like that. You heard them as well as I did. Anyway, its about time you stretched your wings."

As he was speaking, Raspberry climbed onto the back of ooai ohah and held onto the bird's neck as he lifted off the ground. Raspberry laughed as he grinned in anticipation of the pranks he would play on the lumbering humans. He urged ooai ohah to land on the branch of a tree as a pair of humans came into sight. The first seemed to be the elder and his black hair was streaked with gray. The second human resembled him except he was several years younger.

"Father, are you sure that there are deer in these woods? We've been walking for hours and I'm tired."

"Be quiet son, your whining will scare away the deer."

Raspberry smiled as he realized how easy these men would be to fool. He raised his voice as high as he possibly could and spoke to the humans that walked below.

"I am the spirit of the forest," he called in a haunting voice.

Raspberry urged ooai ohah to fly to another tree and spoke again, but this time he was directly behind the humans.

"You do not belong here."

The humans began to look around, but the voice continued to come from different directions. Raspberry was flying from one tree to the next after each haunting statement.

"Leave my forest forever or face the wrath of the living dead."

The mention of the undead sent the humans into a panicked flight and they ran as fast as their legs could carry them. They had no desire to hunt in a haunted forest. As soon as they disappeared from sight, Raspberry burst out in high-pitched peals of laughter.

Ok, Erian, let's ask the others if they think you could lead us to a dwarf...

and ormally, the humans are not this easily scared away, you have to find some more ideas! Don't you think, the father would not have noticed the bird flying around??

I'd like to join in your story now that I've returned.
I've played in a couple of stories that I don't remember the names of. One such is now story #15 in the archives. I also played in as much as ran Search for the Fire Gem.

Here is an example of my roleplay....

*Walks on behind the group, weary of an uncanny silence from behind as well as infront. A thought runs through his mind and, by reflex, broadcast out to any with in a close proximity.

Something doesn't seem right here. I'm ready for whatever I may face, even if it may be my own death, but what about the others. Do they deserve to face this peril now. Do they realize they could die. Something about that one, Kala, strikes me as odd. She seems almost familiar to me now that I think about it. My quest may end here, unresolved. My family missing. That man was too strong for me then, but I was only a child. I couldn't protect my sister like I promised my father I would. I never saw him again. I didn't even live up to my last words to him. My mother dissappeared with father. I cannot die here. Not now, not until I have some answers to my questions. Let me find this mage, I'll show him what a Darkchild really is. He'll regret the day I got involved.

*A faint whisper enters his head
*********************************************************************
It's been along time Sinen. I'm not sure where you are, but when you have time come to me. It would please me more than anything to be with you again my love.

*mumbles to himself

Could it really be? Alia, my love, are you just a figment of my imagination or are you real?

Fools rush into battle blindly, but who is really the fool? The fool or the fool who follows him.

Title: Who should join or not?
Post by: Ta'lia of the Seven Jewels on March 13, 2008, 11:53:30 PM
Here my many objections against a joining of the Twen character or another character in general at the current point. The arguments are not necessarily in the order of their importance:

The ideal number for an active group is 8, at least that is what I learned here on the board. We have already that number, with Aminah we are even 9. Every additional character will make it much more complicated to interact in a way which ends not in chaos (unless we part again which I did not intent just now) and will restrict future choices where we might actually need urgently a special type of char who is not only played as NPC.

Let's look at our group:

Terra, human, fighter
Talia, human, (fighter)
Teri, halfelf, (fighter)
Tulpje, Brownie, ??
Aminah, Mindsmoother

Ta'las, human, fighter
Morcanaan, human, fighter
Kenriil, Hobbit, (fighter)
Capher, human/dragon,

Too many fighters. A mage may have other qualities of fight which we would like to have, but is nevertheless a fighter.

We have already five pretty women. Do we really need another extremely pretty woman? I would even go so far to say, she is too pretty, to shiny etc and does not really fit to our wornout group wandering the forests. „ Deep crimson robes with gleaming stars in the fabric’s depths are draped over her agile form. They surge to rest upon the ground, with but an occasional hint of her nimble feet in low soft boots revealed beneath the flowing attire. Thirteen nor’sidian bracelets line Twen's petite left wrist, each bracelet twisted and perverse with necromantic runes. To those accustomed to such things, her posture is that of a lady use to noble gatherings.“
Would the group even consider to take her along? Of course, there can always be constructed a reason why.
If we have to add another group member, I would prefer someone totally different, well, somebody UGLY!
(Tulpje, did I ever tell you, that I adore Simonne? Beauty lies in simple persons!)

Having a mage with us, seems a good idea, but are there not other charactertypes we would need much more urgently? Maybe a pickpocket? Or someone who knows the Tandalas, once we are there? A healer? We would need a dwarf once we are up in the mountains... I wished Brenna would be not just a NPC. (Though I would prefer a male dwarf)

To stay with the mage and this is I think the point which is the most important:  As I said, it sounds good to have some magical assistance, but a FIREmage? No. Look at our story - we were fighting the Demon Lord of the Fire  himself and he will be our (or one of our) persecutor(s) in the future. Would the group then allow a mage who deals with this essence to join the group easily? I think Talia would be horrified the whole way up to the Tandalas , she would always see a possible connection between her (the mage)  and the demon lord. (Well, that could make up an interesting story, but I'm not sure Talia would be strong enough to face that).

If we say we really need a powerful mage once we are there, would not a different type work better, preferable a water/icemage to fight the fire, or, as the poem hints:

„Earth will assist and Wind will help,“, a windmage perhaps . Of course this could be changed, but „Fire will help“ does not make much sense when we are fighting this element.

Well, a last not very convincing argument – I always think we should give room to new players and not give the chance to join an old player who had already the opportunity to join a fair deal of good stories, but I understand also, that it is tempting to invite friends who are known to be excellent roleplayers. But again - there are many out there who would like to join as well.

I know, there were other arguments which crossed my mind at night, but I can't recall them now.

I know there are of course counterarguments, I wait for them.

A last thing - I think it is only fair to give aminah her own time to integrate in the group before another charakter appeaars which takes away the undivided attention.

******
I have an idea how we could open the heart to other players, I will set up a new thread for it.

Well Talia, I can see many valid points in what you have mentioned above. Although I think there are a few key factors you seem to have overlooked. Twen's magical strengths do not lay in combative uses of fire magic and in truth one of her greatest strengths is healing. For a mage of her level and training she would probably be considered 'weaker' than most when it comes down to combative uses.

When you look over the elements and their usages in healing related arts, fire is one of the greatest in this regard, at least physically. Wind is quite powerful in healing the mind and I could see how this might be more useful to the party as a whole, then again I am not sure what the mods are seeking.

Though I do think placing Twen in a 'fighter' role is a bit premature once you read her magic/personality sections. It clearly states this is not an area of intense study for her. True some of those skills are available to her but her skills lay in other areas of fire.

In truth fighting fire with fire is probably a valid option. The only other type of magic that would have a greater advantage against fire magic might be a water mage. But a fire mage is just as good at ridding the world of fire as they are at creating it.

If indeed the party is full and that is everyone's determination I would hope that you keep me in mind if there are any future openings. As Talia mentioned about a pickpocket rogue type character I have one of those I would love to play here as well. Just drop me a PM if there is any one of my characters that might interest you all.
~Sincerely~

Ok Talia, since the other thread was closed and the subject matter went somewhat unaddressed. I will leave others to explore there for details. Though you do raise a concern for me that seems to go beyond an open debate and into the personal. Upon my arrival here to discuss my entry you clearly told me that all players here are moderators, outside of one.

Then suddenly when I make a clear and precise rebuttal of your statements you claim supremacies with no need for clarifications. Since it appears that your only goal is to have all things your way irregardless of the dishonesty you need to utter to make it so. Coddle your illusions, hold them close for one day you might find they are all you have.

I was invited here, not some random wanderer to be sent about my way. I suppose invitations aren't what they use to be, unless this is a punch the dummy party. Which needed a new target .... me. I prefer to RP with open and honest people that have a sense of caring for those around them. I can only take so many public insults before common sense tells me I am not wanted. Bye everyone!

To say the least, I am not impressed at how this was handled at all. At some point, I feel a chat with the 'moderators' of this story is going to be needed. If there is truly only one moderator (a decision maker), then I need to be told so I can make adjustments to the boards.

Obviously, with four moderators, there should be a 'majority' rule in place, but there is obviously not. If people only have the title of 'moderator' for mere convenience, the process of allowing new players in by so called 'voting' is only teasing your players and confusing the administration. Now, I need some clear answers as to what is actually going on in this story overall.

Talia, it wasn't closed and I feel it is still open and I just wish you would try to make an effort to understand those other than yourselves in such instances. I believe you perfectly know what I meant and in the context of what I meant, as it has been brought to you before in the past.

All Moderators let me know when the best time to discuss the issues which have presented themselves.

Sincerely,
~Kalina Merenwen

I closed this other thread out of good reasons and I said why.

I don't want to have all things my way, that is  an unfair accusation. We have several mods to make life easier, but so far it was Capher first and than me who took the responsibility to carry the story on. Terra jumped in as mod as Capher was away and I wanted Teri to be able to handle the board as well.

Twen, yes, you have been invited, but it was wrong not to ask me as well in the first place. I don't know, why you are now again feel insulted, just because I think it is better not to discuss it now?

Kalina, when I say, I don't be sure what you mean, then it is exactly so. I can only give some good guesses what you mean, they might be correct, they might not.
We surely don't need you now to discuss that this issue. The members of the Heart are well cabable to do this on their own.

Part of being an Administrator is to make sure *everyone* is on the same page, which is evident people are not here. I want to make sure the administration and the story mods are on the same page, per *my* job and responsibility of *my* position.

It is obvious the embarrassment and insulting of numerous people are at hand here, just because one person got all huffy and puffy because they had some *personal* issues with the decision. It is not something I wish for people to have to go through again for one reason or another. And, I will wait to hear from the other moderators, as you consider them moderators as well - before any final decision is made.

Though I usually do not use the IRC as an Admin has asked us to somehow get together and have a chat I will be willing to try and be online at the appropriate time and place to resolve this issue.

If I would have known that this would have caused such a problem, I would have never invited Twen. I am sincerely sorry Twen for putting you in this position.

As I stated before I am also am sincerely apologetic to Talia for not waiting for her opinion, however as stated before, I thought majority ruled, though I do understand you wanting to have Aminah with the group first and integrated with us before we would add another character.

As far as who has "senority" around here as far as the mods are concerned; I always thought that all of us had and should have a say so in not only how the story progressed, but also how the characters progressed and who or who we may or may not allow in, in the future.  In simple terms a "Collaborative group, instead of one or two major mods and the others minor.

As far as I am concerned we each should have a say so on whatever happens to the story or the characters, though I am the creator, Talia took it and enriched it far beyond my expectations when I was ill or unavailable for long periods of time; something I will never ever forget nor ever find the words to thank her for, and then when the other mods stepped in, it even helped more inho. As the saying goes; "Many hands make work short" or something like that.

Anyway, if there is a need for us to get together then let us choose a time and place.

Title: Re: Audions and Restrictions(No Spots Currently Available.)

Capher, of course we have always asked every member if he or she is ok with an addition to our group. So far there were no discrepancies. I do think however, even if we say, that what the majority thinks is good there should be a discussion first before a vote takes place and the right for a veto for members who are with the group a given amount of time. The joining of Twen was not discussed, no pro or contras considered.

I still think, we should wait some time till we discuss this - and we should do this in private, via group email. I will NOT take part in any discussion where other persons are present than members of our group, for I think they should not have a word here, being admin or not, especially not ones who are not unbiased.

I will not post in this thread further, I should not have posted  openly in the first place. I think email is the best way to communicate now, for in an IRC chat not much more can be said and I'm not good in writing  proper Englisch quickly, nor is this a good way to bring arguments across again which are already on the table.

Again, I think we should stop now and here and postpone the issue till all can think clearer again. Then we can talk about the story, how to progress it and whom to take in if needed.

What is it with you and waiting to discuss, Talia? Or is it your way of just hoping everyone will just forget about it and move on with their lives until it happens again? I did *not* mean in the open by any means, and am slightly insulted you would think so little of me to even consider it an option, or little of me to be able to deal with this issue at hand, because it *is* an issue and it is part of my responsibility, being a mod of this story or not. Get used to my occasional interference Talia. It has and will happen.

...I am not insulting you, Talia. For you to assume so is depressing. I am clearly just trying to state my position and my authority, which keeps getting questioned here. I am just trying to get to the bottom of this situation, as more than one person was insulted and embarrassed in this whole ordeal. I am sorry that is too much to ask from you.

I apologize to everyone about the overblown situation here. I thought this was a fairly straightforward and easily settle disagreement. My apologies for not adequately foreshadowing such reactions.
