1: Mentalism is still part of 'elemental' magic.

2: 'Hallucinations' are the realm of Illusion magic.

3: Mind control and forming mental links and such would be pretty high level.

4: He's had no formal training. He should absolutely, positively suck.

...they could be part of mentalism. Ilusions are creating figures of imagery in the area that everyone can see by illusionists, like a hologram. Hallucinations through the use of changing one's mind would be mentalism, as you are dealing with controlling someone's mind. They are the only ones that can see the hallucination. They percieve it is there, when others cannot see it and wonder "WTH is up with him?!"

Illusions = Ilusionists
Hallucinations = Mentalists

I would believe anyway...

Ok Tarq, i can see what your saying.
Ive read through life magic, and have slowly branched off onto the brownie schools of magic etc.

Im gonna stick with mentalism, but im going to change my description a great deal to make it perfect and to make sure that it is realistis towards the magic.

Ok, ive totally changed my history, strengths and weaknesses and also made a few minor changes to the appearance and personality.

Id like all your opinions again (especially Tarq's for the magic matters).

Ive read a lot and planned my history quite a bit, so i hope its ok this time.

Ive mentioned Brownie's asking members of other races to do something in order to learn the magic in one of the 7 schools and ive definately got the correct school to be taught mentalism. Also, i mentioned that other races took quite a bit longer to learn magic then the Brownie's, so i hope the time taken is roughly correct.

Alright, there's one big problem. You want him to be -really- powerful. First a shapeshifter, then a really good Mentalist with no studying, now studying with Brownies somehow making him a really good Mentalist. I don't understand how the history improves his abilties in Mentalism, and the 7 Schools of Brownie Magic still need to be revised but Greybark is off somewhere or something like that.

Also need to know what level of magic, on the Ximaxian scale, you want him to be performing.

Ok, ive changes some things and here are some points to clear up some confusion:

1) The history makes him a better mentalist because it tells of his time spent at the Brownie school of Lightning Magic.
Its not that he was studying with the Brownie's that made him a powerful mentalist, its the fact that he was taught for almost 300 years, struggling at some times, but still learning at one of these great schools. Also because of his experience over these times.

2) I know that the Brownie Schools of Magic need checking, but the lightning school is definately the correct school. It says so under the "Seven Brownie Schools of Magic" in the magic section.

3) Overall, he is an expert mentalist, but he wouldnt be an expert in all areas, just be able to perform them. He would have strong points and weakpoints in his magic.

Ive just gone through my description and have added a magic section which is just above my history.

1. 8-9th level is too high.

2. I doubt that they would teach anyone but a Brownie at the Seven Schools. Why? Because the Brownies taught at the university are relied on to stop the entire settlement from being swallowed by the Void.

3. Elves don't really learn slower than others, but the accepted explanation (it's really Wren's call) is that they are more meticulous and cautious about magic. Wouldn't get frustrated about learning slower or taking longer, would probably take longer than most out of preference, which is why it probably isn't the best idea for one ot train at the Seven Schools anyway. Probably better to be taught by other Elves who teach meticulously, instead of slowing down the laid out lesson plan of the teacher.

Have a nice day. :)
