"Yes that's probably enough...you wait here, I'll grab a room" Elraralia said, smiling inwardly at the woman's sulkieness, and headed up to whom she assumed to own the place, she handed Jeremy's coins along w/ her own, and grabbed two keys.

Heading back over to the woman, she smiled "Well, what do you know?  It's time to get a room anyways.  And stop sulking, you'll feel better after some sleep.." she said, while thinking that medicine wouldn't be to bad either.

Come on then, it's up here.." she said, leading the way up the stairs.

Amazing how time flies!  Thought Sough to herself as she watched the crowd slowly disperse;  some headed upstairs, while others filed out the door to head home.  Sough took another look at her thin coin pouch, knowing fully that there was barely enough coin inside to cover a night's stay, much less food and drink.

Wish I'd arrived sooner to earn some pay... or at least to work out an arrangment with the owners of this fine establishment!    Her belly grumbled again.   And so another day of trail rations will have to do!    She patted her belly once, lightly, before hopping off her chair and grabbing her things.  Springing lightly off the stoney hearth, she made her way across the room.

Standing in line behind the few who were getting a room last-minute, Sough finally realized her turn.  She looked up at the innkeeper and held out the last of her coins to him.  "One room, if you please!  And perhaps, on the morrow, we may discuss a business arrangement."  She added cheerily while tapping her lute with her free hand.  Taking the room key with a wink and a smile, she headed for the stairs as well.

sough      P   Pronunciation Key  (sou, s f)
intr.v. soughed, sough·ing, soughs
To make a soft murmuring or rustling sound.

n.
A soft murmuring or rustling sound, as of the wind or gentle surf.

Asmordeus looked to Ircurus and only shrugged.  'Guess she's ok', she mentally told her friend.  They moved to a small table close to the door, but out of the line of traffic.  Reaching into her pocket she gathered the last of her coins.  A small bit to eat and a room was definitely what was needed.  It would cost her the last she had.

Ircurus felt that the people here were odder than they had encountered in a long time.  His mistress may not find she can fit in her after all.  Too bad as he liked the wolf brother he had found here.

She listened to the music and it had been quite good and soothing.  Just what she needed.  After announcing closing time, the owner was busy taking out money and handing over the keys to rooms.  When the line was not so long she headed toward the bar.  Handing over the last of her money with a sigh she thanked the man and headed up the stairs.   This was not going as well as she had hoped.

After entering the small room, she removed her cloak and outer garments.  Her prayers should be short as weary as she was, but that would not be right.  She prayed that she would find the day more promising when the sun rose.  The odd person who had been in serious trouble was also in her prayers.  As was the big man who had helped her when she felt faint.

Preparing for sleep in a bed for the first time in many days, she thought over her options.  Tomorrow she would sell the brooch to someone.  Then either find work for her cleric talents or perhaps she can convince the town smithy to at least let her help there some.

Ircurus walked the room sniffing as he went while she undressed.  The last person in this room had an odd odor.  His mistress was bone tired and he could feel her disappointment.  He sat beside her as she prayed.  When she was finally in bed, he jumped up and lay beside her.  She was quickly asleep, but he lay there for a long time in his thoughts.

Quarion sighed deeply. He didn't really much feel like traveling this night, even though it was probably much cooler now. The tall grey elf rises from his bar stool, and places a few coins on the bar for the bar maid. He then walks over to the man who had identified himself as the innkeeper, and drops the money into the man's hand, and takes the room key from him.

Once in his room, he closes the door, and props his immense longspear on the inside of the door frame. He then blows out the single candle, and crashes onto the bed, face up and fully clothed. He stares at the ceiling, silently, immersed in thought. He was dead tired from the days walk, and felt only more weary when he thought of the walk ahead of him tomorrow. He also realized had no idea where he would be wandering, either. Perhaps north again, away from this ungodly heat, or further south, in search of more orcs...

The sun had set many hours ago as Angron awoke. His chest was still burning with pain, and his breething was hard and unconstant. He made his way to the door, his eyes pale but shining like the full moon outside. The wooden planks on the floor moaned under the weigth of the hulking Kuglim as he opened the door. Lumbering down the hall with unusual heavy steps, he found the bar-room dark and lone, no one was there anymore. In a matter of minutes, the experienced traveller made a fire at the heath. Not a big fire, but enough to enlight the room a bit. From the secret pocket in his pants, Angron pulled out his dagger, and placed the tip in the glowing embers. As he took off his lether shirt a cross-like scar could be seen on the left side of his chest.

With the glowing dagger, he cut open the scar, his face remaining emotionless...

Icurus needed little sleep.  And tho it was safer here than traveling, he slept lightly.  He had heard the heavy footsteps and knew it was his wolf brother.  He went to the door and sniffed at it.  Yes, the man was headed downstairs.  But something was not quite right.  He's steps were heavier than before.

The wolf ran to the bed and pulled the thin blanket off his mistress.  He could do many things but opening the door was not one of them.  He licked her face and pleaded with her to wake up.  Finally, she placed her hand on his head and said, "Love, what is it?  Why do you trouble me so late?"

He pulled her sleeve so she would sit up.  He ran to the door and sniffed again.  Smoke from a lit fire was there and something else that he could only slightly smell.  'Please, come quickly.  He may need us.'

Asmordeus quickly got dressed and opened the door.  She knew that her companion would not have wakened her without a reason.  She followed Ircurus down the stairs and toward the bar room.  A faint light was glowing from there.  As she entered the doorway she saw the man's bare back.  It was the kind man from earlier in the evening.  He was crouched before the fire.

Ircurus went to the man and sat looking at him.  Asmordeus entered the room quietly, "Sorry if we are disturbing you, but he felt a strong need to come to you."  She saw the dagger in the fire.  "Are you in need friend?  Or do you wish to be alone?"

Quarion slept lightly, and was awakened by the heavy footsteps of what had to be the Kuglim, going downstairs. After waiting a few moments, unable to return to sleep, decided to get an early start. Coming down the steps, his soft boots make very little noise. He walks into the bar room and hears a female elf that he had seen in the tavern the night before conversing with the large Kuglim, who appeared to be reopening a wound with a red hot dagger taken from the fire.

"Are you in need friend? Or do you wish to be alone?"

He had heard tales of this before. He speaks, still standing behind the elf maiden.

"That is how one builds up an immunity to pain, just like an assassin builds up an immunity to poison, by administering doses of it to himself. Reopening a wound and cauterizing it is one of the more practical methods." He speaks to the Kuglim man. "If I am not mistaken, you are a Battlerager. A Berserker."

out of the shadows comes a young elf, slightly lanky with raggedly cut blonde hair and steely blue eyes that bored into one with the force of a firebrand. he looked up at the sign, reading it aloud.

"The Thirsty Herald, eh? sounds good, i could use something to drink after the long travels." he straightened his quiver, unstrung his bow, and headed inside, smiling his wide smile.

as he went in, the light shone on his tanned skin, making it look almost bronze. he looked around at the diverse crowd, then headed to the bar.

"tender? i'll take whatever you reccomend." he said.

((Kaeru, no posting in this thread until your character has recieved his title. until then, you are only allowed to post here. patience is everything...))

The Kuglimz eyes gazed into the small fire. All he heard were dull voices, far, far away, not understandable for Angron. And the fizzling sound of the glowing blade as he continued to cut open the scar on his chest. Dark blood began to flow out. Strange blood. Bad blood. He put the dagger´s tip back into the embers, and some moments later, it began to glow red hot again. He stabbed the tip back into his chest again, burning away the infested liquid. After that, he pulled a small wooden bottle from his helt, opened it, and poured some of the contents into the newly opened wound. All of a sudden, the hulk arose, his scar-covered torso throwing a big shadow at the wall in his back. He looked down at the wolf beside him as if he had never seen him before. "Lupus, lupus...sanguinem meum, sanguis sanctus, sanguis luporum..." he whispered, staring down at the wolf, and not recognizing the two other persons.

((dripping wet? you do realize that we are in the desert, don´t you?))

Angron slowly turned around at the sounds. First thing he now noticed were the two people with him in the bar room. The elf, and that strange guy with the staff. He hesitated to say something to them, and as he found the right words, he couldn´t speak. His tongue was like glued to his palate. Flashing the elf a distracted look the Kuglim walked past the entrance door to grab his battle-axe, for he did not know who or what was awaiting outside. His tongue still refused to obey, and so, with his humongous axe in hand, he wordlessly unlocked the main door and opened it.

Ircurus was concerned for his friend.  The pain and the infection was bad.  The man spoke to him and then headed for the door.  Ircurus looked at his mistress and she nodded.  He would stay close to his wolf brother til the man was himself again.

Asmordeus thanked the elf next to her for explaining what was happening.  But the infection within the other man's wound was bad.  She could smell the stench that others may not have smelled.  Nodding to Ircurus it was ok for him to stay with his new friend, she watched the two go toward the door.  She looked around at the group of people who had come down and decided she would stay to see if she could talk with the large man.  Perhaps they could help each other.  In the meantime she turned toward the elf who had explained things to her, "Would you care to join me at a table since we are up?  Perhaps we can get a drink soon."
