Ok, the main reason for posting this is to have a larger version of my current sig. It’s all fine and well to say ‘just have a look at my signature’, but sometimes people still don’t seem to understand. So this thread has some general information and a list of useful links.

First of all, there is nothing to download. This is a free-form pbp-RPG (play-by-post role playing game). The name pretty much says it all: For nplay-by-post. The whole game is made up only by these boards. You play out a character and post his actions. Others will react to it and so you create a game. Free-form means that there are no strict rules involved (no dice or manuals). There are still rules of course, but those are mainly based on your own common sense (with story mods to keep an eye on everything). General information

Account Name

Please keep in mind that your characters name has to be the same as your accounts name and it can’t contains any numbers. Account names can be changed by administrators, so there’s no need to make a new account. If you started with picking a bad name you can ask an administrator if they want to change it for you.

Personalizing your account

Log into your account and click on the

button at the top of the forum.

On your left hand side you will see several links now. Those to personalize your account are under “Modify Profile”. Things you can do:

Account Related Settings
*Change your email address.
*Change your password.
*Change your secret question.

Forum Profile Information
*Add your own avatar, either by linking to an picture online or by uploading one from your computer.
*Add a personal text. Note: It's advised that you write your character's race and tribe here.
*Add your birthdate, location and gender.
*Add your ICQ, AIM, MSN or YIM handle.
*Add or change your signature. You can also prettify text with colours and pictures using SMF Bulletin Board Code (see link to the help page on it further down the page). Don’t forget to check the rules as there are a few limitations to what can be in a signature.
*Add your homepage.

Look and Layout Preferences
Here you will find various useful options on how the boards are displayed, such as:
*Set your own time zone and how the time is displayed.
*Enable the quick reply boxes.
*Put the most recent posts and messages at the top.

Notifications and Email
Here you can enable or disable when you receive email notifications for topics you are following.

Personal Message Options
Some options on personal messages.

The Claws

The blocks with the links on the left and the Search, Recent Posts,… on the right can be made visible or hidden by simply clicking on the golden claws at the top left and right of each page:

The World of Caelereth

This is the world in which everything happens. Currently all the RPing is in South Sarvonia, although you can have characters from anywhere of course. Wander around a bit if you like, there’s lots of things to read. You can’t read everything though, so it might be useful to start out with those things that you thing you’ll need for your character.

Restrictions, Elven Aging, Titles & Magic Level Ages

This one made up out of four different things:

Restrictions: Not everything on the site is allowed to be played, so better check here before you start a character and find out once you post you have to start over.

Magic Level Ages: It takes lots of time to learn how to properly use magic. Here you have a list of what level the average mage has on what age. Note that this is a list for the human years.

Adventures of Caelereth RPG Info

This is a very useful addition to the site made by one of our members. It has two useful calculators:
- Elf Age Calculator & Master Elf Age Calculator: Planning on making an elf? Elves age slower than humans, both physically and mentally. They’ll take a longer time to learn the same things as a human. Note: the aging isn’t linear, so it’s probably best to try and have an outline of what happened when for your character in human years and convert it to elven years.
- Santharian Measures Converter: A useful tool, for converting line and heft measures to Santharian ones. But please don’t copy paste the values you find! Have a look at the link below first and be sure to at least have a vague idea of the length of the measures you use. It makes no sense to have x grains or x mut in your height or weight (unless you’re a brownie).

Measures and Weights

A list with all the different Santharian measures and the Santharian currency. This list is a bit vague with the line and heft measures. One metre doesn’t equal three feet and a pound isn’t exactly half a kilogramme. This is because it wasn’t meant to be accurate. One ped is exactly one metre, but ‘about’ three feet. For the weights this isn’t too much of a problem, but for the heights this can lead to confusion. If you have trouble converting you can use the converter (see above).

FAQ

If you have a question, it just might be in here. One of the common problems that’s in there is what to do when ezBoard doesn’t remember that you’re logged in or when you can't can’t see the "Edit" link at your posts.
