Cherri, if you would like a more experienced player, I could enter in my Callie character or Kareesh for a bit till you get things all sorted out. I'll leave all the modding stuff up to you, of course. Just a little person to help out. ^^ Once you have everything set up, then I can disappear. It would be interseting for Callie to be in the Thirsty Herald, what with all the mean nasty men. ;)

I welcome more experienced players.  I have only been here coming up a year and still have a lot to learn.

And Twen, I don't offend easily so go for it.  I can take constructive critisim.  I know I do not post as I should and hopefully people such as yourself can help make my postings better.  I know I can write well when I put my mind to it.  I just need some help sometimes an at other times I need alot of help.  :hammer

@ twen

Re..real...realism? :confused

what is this of what you speak?

Aside from that, sure!

And anything that can confidently say it can take out Ne'iav'rine is deadly. Deadly and misunderstood doesn't make things any better dear. ;)

I'm willing to help out if any aid is needed.

lol, navar... its not just you, don't worry, your not that significant

The first time i can to the tavern, I caught it on fire

hence teh whole "after the fire title down there

then I did it again

People have been fighting in the tavern for a great long time

because its easy to do

And I myself would not have the fighting end. fighting is entertaining. It would just be better if the fighting had its own place, and the conversations annother.

Ok guys crazy Idea, ok all of the suggestions have delt with physical aspect, but what about magical aspect

I propose that a "barrior' is placed on the tavern that prevents weapons from being used (swords can't be unsheath, bows can't be drawn), and if any newbs break the rule, the post in which the rule was violated will be deleted.

For any of those familliar with StarGate, its like the barrior the Tokra (sp) use when Scarrah (sp) is in Tiad (the Ga'ul try to blow the planet up and Jack O'Neill save their planet). (Im a nerd leave me alone). Vesk you may know what Im referring to.

We mention the barrior and the penalty for disregarding it in the rules thread. So that keeps any god characters from being used. Ok Im done

Hmmm, I dunno about that magical barrier thing.  Although I know nothing about the magic system it seems to me to be a little excessive.  We should be able to sort ourselves out without such drastic measures. (still a cool idea though.. I just don't think it fits the context of the Herald)

Really, I don't think that regulation rules are the solution.  Any implementation of regulatory elements would restrict the player's freedom (one of the reasons I think RPing is better then video games and the like, sky's the limit).  Really, there's nothing stopping one person from taking a stab at another, that's their decision, but there could be in-game consiquences for doing so (i.e being denied food and lodging etc.)  My problem with a bouncer is that there's nothing stopping a player from stabbing him too, so he'd have to be tough, but command respect.

Anyhow, those are my two cents worth, I gotta run (so if any of my ideas are half finished that's why :)  darn lecture)

Well first of all it's Goa'uld (hehe...), and second I think it's a bit much. That being said, I would like to see rules that say no fighting in the Tavern. It's kind of a pain to have to incoporate all those fights into the role playing of characters who aren't in them.

A seperate thread, as R'vhar suggested,  would be great for that. Then people could spar, practise, and fight all they want. And not get in the way of everyone else.

First you'll have to read the rules and stuff and create a character in the CD Forum. Only titled/approved characters are allowed in the Herald. ^^

The magic barrier wouldn't fit any ximaxian magic I can think of, and I really couldn't see a tavern being enchanted in such a way. Far too powerful.

Yes, people would have to respect the bouncer, But a newbie is going to respect and oldbie who can write well and has an intimidating character. Also, sneaking up on a character who's job it is to watch the tavern would not be easy, their back would be against the wall. ;)

Ne'iav'rine would never allow herself to be taken advantage in such a way...

then again, Ne'iav'rine has a penchant for sentient flesh....

Yes, the barrier won't work, and in any case, it's going to be unrealistic.  Using bouncer NPCs (not godly ones though) would be much better, and along with OOC pressure, that should keep fights down to a realistic level.  You might want to consider having some other NPCs too, such as bartenders waiters, etc.  IIRC, such roles have, in the past, usually been taken by PCs, which can cause problems if the player leaves or disappears.
