Damien Scar

Damien watched cooly as one of the men removed more of his weapons.  Damien looked at them.  The bow interested him. It was a quality bow.  Usually only those who really know how to use one, had one.  Unless they were of Elvish blood.  Damien's sharp eyes, who hardly missed anything, saw the glint of armour beneath the man's cloak.  He noticed an insignia, but did not recognize it.  Damien wondered if the man had elvish blood. Well it did not matter.  The man did not seem to pose any danger.

"What is your name?" Damien asked him as he gestured for the man to reclaim his weapons.

As Damien waited for the man to respond he turned his attention to the other man.  This man stared back at Damien. Damien thought, If this man wants a war of wills, then I will gladly give it to him.    Damien looked at this man's weapon. just a knife?  Damien thought. No. A man such as this one would not be carrying just a knife.  He would have more weapons.  Perhaps in his sack?   Damien reached down and opened the man's sack. No weapons there. So where would a man such as this one carry them? Did the guard search these two?  Obviously not, since the other one gave up more weapons.  So this one must also be carry some as well.  But why does he not give them up?  I would just look at them and give them back.  What reason does he have to hide them?  If he has any?  Could he really only be carrying just a knife?

Damien scratched his chin as he thought upon those troubling questions.  This one I think I will keep my eye on, but for now I will let him go.  Damien then said, "I suggest mister that you would get much better results with people by easing up a bit.  Your staring at me and belligerent manner does not impress me.  It may even deny you passage into my fair city."

He paused.  "However, it just may be that we got off on the wrong foot.  let's try again shall we?  What is your name?"  Damien asked.

Logan, Takashi Logan.

Takashi hastily gathers up his weaponry, hoping his proffesion isnt discovered by the capitan. He gets up and takes his pack as he walks out. A sudden gust of wind comes through the door as he walks out, knocking back his cloak, and hood, as well as parting his hair, revealing the pointy ears beneath, and the crossed leaf and sword insignia on his armour once again.

Now, would be a good time to leave.

Upon Damien's entrance, the guard who had originally began to question the two travellers immediately scrambled to his feet and managed to pull off a fairly believable salute in the amount of time given to prepare for such a spontaneous action. He didn't care much for the two he had brought to this area, hence why he had taken charge of checking them himself instead of allowing his fellow guardsmen to check them over. Something told him to treat them warily for they were dangerous men. Other than the amount of weapons the one who introduced himself as Takashi carried, there was no other reason to suspect him of anything. Yet, his "companion" was of a different sort. More held back and didn't say much. Trying to hide his identity amongst many other things, at least that is what the guard concluded from his observations.

When the man only produced a knife for Damien, the guard's annoyance rose. A quiet man such as the one before him was not the type to carry only a small knife. His demeanor presented a greater threat than the small instrument. Better allow Damien to take care of him. The Commander knows how to deal with men like him. Receving the okay from his Commander, he motioned to Takashi, once all the weapons had been replaced in their proper storage areas, he was free to enter the city, but was fair warned to not cause any trouble or else...

The man left, seeming somewhat relieved before he walked off.
Perhaps a close eye will have to remain on the man after all. There was something he was hiding as well, yet not as closely as the other he was brought in with. Leaning over, he whispered to his Commander about keeping an eye on the man who had just left. He himself did not have to have his eyes upon the man, yet his collaeges would be more than happy to do such a duty. Much was amiss these days and more precautions had to be made and kept.

Taka, feel free to post in either the Barracks thread or Arth's Spot.

"I suggest mister that you would get much better results with people by easing up a bit. Your staring at me and belligerent manner does not impress me. It may even deny you passage into my fair city."

As the other traveller left from the city gates with all his weapons Darién knew that he had slightly provoked the commander; with his arrogant stare. Darién felt himself as Damien’s superior, He even felt himself superior over the entire human race. He was after all an half elf, A breed apart. And he was commander too, of a insane murdering guild and that was worth far more respect then he actually received from this foolish gatekeeper. He had somehow raised questions but possibly no suspicions with his distant behaviour.

"However, it just may be that we got off on the wrong foot. let's try again shall we? What is your name?" The commander asked.

Slightly annoyed (even though it could not be read from his face) he was because of the ongoing questions. His name? Could he truly tell his name here? If his face wasn’t recognised then it would be his name that finally betrayed him. “Enter the city!” Enter the city!” was what the voice in his head told him, And he listened to his danger sense for this rare occasion. My name you ask me? Why don’t you point me into the direction of some good inns in this fair city and let me buy you a drink once you are off-duty; Then I’l tell you my name… Now… Can I have my knife and supplies back? Then I’l be on my way… He spoke on a tone without emotion. A friendly offer of Darién that would not at all sound attractive when he spoke it.

Damien Scar

As Takashi left his 'second in comand' leaned over and told Damien that we should probably put "eyes" on him.Damien wondered what his second in command saw that he didn't?

He whispered back. "We shall have a talk after this one leaves."

Damien listened to the man's request about buying him an ale and then telling him his name, after he got off of work.  Then requested his things and asked to go.

"I am always on duty, no matter what I am doing. Why you do not want to tell me your name intrigues me, friend. Take your things.  Wait outside in the outer hall.  I shall be with you momentarily and then we shall have that drink.  And then I will get your name..."  Damien left the implied threat hanging in the air.

He waited for the man to leave.  Damien wanted to talk to his 'second in command.'

Darién grabbed his belongings back without hesitation.

It would seem odd for most people to drink at this early morning but for Darién it wasn’t. He was always thirsty and even now he longed for a drink… But he hesitated about this one;.. Would it seem right to buy a drink from someone who had the force of a “dozen” men behind him and who once he knew Darién’s true identity could make his head end up like “those” on the spires surrounding the city?  However how would this man react when Darién denied his own request for a drink,… That would seem a little odd though. Maybe he could slip by the guards somehow once he was in the outer hall so that he could prevent this awkward situation from happening. If this gatekeeper would keep pushing him he would find himself in a whole lot of trouble with Darién. Since Darién was sharp and cunning and those who underestimated could find their lives ending at the top his war sword. Darién had outlived many situations when the odds had turned drastically against him. For a moment the thought of killing the guard at the spot and making a run for it trough the city rose up in his head. Because for all he knew this man already knew something about him, Or he was lead into other area’s with even more guards and there would be the ones who recognised him then… He could be heading for his own demise. He would love to give the command once he got there; To kill the gatekeeper…
But on the other hand… He was thirsty… And he needed to kill time until the night came. During the night was the only time of day his “Shadows” operated and only then by searching very good in the crime district he might eventually be able to find a trail or a contact to escort him towards their secret location…
All he had to do was give up a fake name, And to prevent himself from exposure. If he talked to much himself then he might give himself away…And it would seem hard to not speak a lot since the big man was persisting.

“All right, I hope you know a decent place then.”
He replied towards the gatekeeper, And he walked towards the outer hall”.

Damien Scar

Damien watched the man walk out of the office into the outer halls closing the door behind him.  Damien, looking at Norman, his second in command, and one of his trusted friends, put a finger to his lips and soundlessly walked to the door and pressed his ear to it.  He listened for a bit and then walked back and sat on the edge of the desk.

"Norman, I have grave suspicions about that one in the hall.  He holds too many secrets within him.  Besides that, I just don't like him.  He rubs me raw.  I want an eye on him at all times, if at all possible.  Now, to the other fellow.  How come you think we need eyes on him as well.  Takashi, I believe he called himself?"

Damien poured himself and Norman a cup of tea, placed on cup in front of Norman and slowly sipped his, waiting for Norman to speak.

The grey blacksmith walks casually toward the gate with his dog Zammy. The blacksmith calls for a guard and waits patiently. The blacksmith draws out his birth certificate, he was afterall born in Voldar, a pure erpheronian blacksmith. When a guard came into his sight the blacksmith said

" I have my document of legal entry to the fine city of Voldar, You may search my bag and you will find I think 12 longswords and various pieces of armour. I am a mastersmith and was hired by Damien, I probably made you armour. Will you please let me in so I may get drunk and waste my hard earned cash?".

The burly man nodded gravely, understanding the seriousness of his Commander's words. Eyes would definitely be on the two new arrivals at all times. His small band of men would keep close tabs on them, and his lady friend....Reenia at Arth's Spot was as good as any to do away with any man she did not feel deserved to walk the streets of their city. Reenia was magnificent.

"Eyes will be on him at all times, as my Commander asks. As for Takashi, why would a man carry so many weapons? I myself do not own that many. He is a killer. And he was hoping we wouldn't find that out if he worked with us and let us search him as he did. He is a dangerous one he is."

He took a sip of the tea, percing his lips as he had never really acquired the taste for the particular drink, but it had been served to him and he was thirsty.

"Is there anything else my Commander wishes of me? If not, I shall return to my patrol."

Darien, you may make your way through the gate and into the City at this time.

Darién loosely awaited the gatekeepers return. He was standing with his back against the wall with his hands over each other. He carefully watched the door hoping for the big guard to return soon. He could see many guards,… especially in the nearby distance at the gatehouse. However none of them really paid attention towards him, And he could also see the strange civilian that entered with him leaving the border of the gate into the city. He could choose to run for it, leaving the “curious” commander here at his place by the gate… But he could also retrieve that nice cold “drink” where he was lunging for all this time… And if he chose to leave now,.. wouldn’t he raise more suspicion then he already managed to do? Darién did not planned to spend his days here as refugee. He could certainly not use any guards following and searching him around in the city… Not where he was going,… The lair of that what was considered pure evil by the normal citizen. The criminals that where responsible for almost every mysterious death in Voldar…
He sighed as he waited for them. What where they doing? Having a tea party? He had decided to wait a bit longer since he had the feeling the commander could come out just at the point he decided to sneak out. And as he waited he grew impatient… He could have already left this area about three times…To never be found again. He had also seen a fairly aged man enter the inner side of the building. Some kind of travelling salesman? He sighed again and walked out towards the main road that was leading straight into the city. A magnificent sight;.. And it was becoming rather crowded in the early sunblaze.

Damien Scar

Damien nodded at Norman.  "Good man.  I noticed the weapons.  But somehow I missed the intentions.  I suppose I was more focused upon our other guest.  Which by the way is waiting for me.  So, I will go.  I leave you to your duties.  If you need to reach me, I will be at Arth's."

Damien put a quick, but friendly pat upon Norman's shoulder and then walked out.  He noticed Darien watching the city. It was becoming alive.  Damien also liked to see the city rise from its slumber.  He closed the office door.  "Well are you ready, friend?" Damien asked.  "I know of a real nice place to get that drink.  And then we can have that little talk.  Follow me."

Damien began walking, his cloak floating around him, like a wraith.  He looked behind him watching to see if the stranger was following.

OOC Darien you can post that you followed, but then our next posts should be in Arth's Spot. OK?

OOC Norkin.  If you wish I could delete your previous post and then you could make another one. Post that you see me and a stranger as we begin our walk toward Arth's spot.  Then I could see you and talk with you. Ok?

Darién followed Damien into the city. Trying to figure out something about the man, In his attitude and facial expressions to get a glimpse of what he was thinking. Was he just such a fool who had the bad luck to pick the one traveller who had the power, will and guts to kill the big guard ice cold right here on the streets if he wanted too; for a drink. The top assassin from the Helcrani districts… Darién was currently not in a aggressive mood, But what if the guy managed to trough see his “act” or what if he discovered the weapons on his back. Darién would have to undertake action and slice the “pests” throat…
Or would it be bad luck for Darién? Maybe the man knew “something” he didn’t knew. But if the gatekeeper would have even had the slightest suspicion of him being “The Predator” he would probably be already in prison now…
Darién knew that he could speculate things and get ahead of the situation all he wanted but it wouldn’t matter if he could not predict the situation. The big guard would not be able to surprise him; with anything in any situation. Self-confident he moved and the distance between the in black clothed men and the gate grew.

Guard

The guard quickly scanned the old man's papers say his name was Norkin and recognized Damien's seal upon it.  He looked up, gave the man his papers and said.  "No need to look into your pack. You have Damien's seal upon your papers. I see your an armourer.  We need good armouers.  I hope you stay.  Enter in and enjoy yourself."

The guard let the old man go and waved for the next person to come forward.

OOC- Great edit of your post Norkin.  Now you can continue into the city.  If you go to Arth's spot that is where Damien is.  He will probably want to talk to you.  So just walk in, order a drink and wait until Damien notices you.  If you want that is.  You can do whatever you wish of course.  Enjoy the game.

Grunok's palms are sweaty. He wipes his palms surreptitiously on his coat as he surveys the throng waiting at the gate. Well, perhaps not quite a throng, but... It has been a long time since he has been around so many people. So many humans. First, travelling the roads around, and now here, outside the city... and they just ignore him! Maybe... maybe in the city, he will be able to blend in. Just another Orc, not a monster to be feared...

Summoning his spirit, Grunok walks up to a guard:

"Hu'oh. I want... en'runce"

Norman Greeves

Norman looked over the shoulders of his guards.  Just glancing at the the papers of the many and myriad of people and races trying to enter Voldar.  Suddenly, he saw a sight he though he would never see, except maybe on the battlefield: A Losh-Oc Orc.  He bullies his way forward and asks for admittance.  Now I have seen everything!  Norman thought.

He looked over the orc.  The Orc was big, strong and many of the people cringed as they looked at him.  Norman handed out his hand.  "Papers!" he asked.
