This is a free area devoted to fighting. This will allow Characters to experiment and get a good feel for their characters fighting abilities.

Characters would meet up in the battle forum and challenge each other to a duel. Battles could be one on one or two on one, whatever is decided.

Tournaments could be held where money is given to the winner.

The idea is very lucrative and is open to suggestion and change.


Battle Arena Set up.

The first problem to over come the little factor of death. I have a few solutions.

1) Have a NPC Cleric designed and approved by the Mods who can ressurect.

2) A magical barrior that prevents death loss results in KO. This is similar to Final Fantasy Advanced Tactics.

3)A death in the game is not counted as an actual death in Santharia, some what of an OOC fight.

4) PLayers only fight until unable and they can forfiet at any time.


The second Problem is players gangin up and feeling getting hurt. Sugestions here

1) have different forums for fighting, such as one on one, two on one etc. And players agree to be ganged up on. Any pre approved double teaming will be stopped by a Mod.

2) There may be a free for all battle, with the understanding of double teaming. (Big if there)

3) Only have one on one fights.

4) Pit players against NPC's controlled by Mods. That way Players are only fighting NPCs and not each other.

There was a reason why this idea did not fly last time it was suggested, so do I really need to be redundant in re-explaining why the suggested will cause more problems than worth?  I know you like chaos and all, but players start getting pissed off at each other and the whole RP board will go to pot because no one will want to RP with another and all due to the arguments that will arise in this fight arena.

Only question I really have is simply this. "Wouldn't the creation of this type of thread detract from the Festival story?" Variable forms of PvP combat and competition are offered daily within that story. I don't mind a little extra mindless violence, yet such an endeavor would require some sort of modding. Or at least someone with alot of experience to help "some" players with fair rules of engagement.

I suppose I am just stating the obvious, yet I love this idea and have a vast desire to see it come to fruit. Considering I was the one pushing Kain with this idea some time ago. "G'luck Navar, give me a holler if you need any help." Pet

The Festival shouldn't be effected by this.  The play in the festival is geared more toward interaction than to combat, the little combat that would be done at the festival is non-lethal and will be heavily modded, so something like this i think would be completely different.

However, I have some of the same worries that I read in the previous 2 attempts at this, and that is hurt feelings and RL jealousies and egos ruining the spirit of the game.

Why not have a fighting academy of sorts instead. They would be learning to kill but not killing. They could have practice weapons like many martial arts do... wooden swords, tipless spears, fencing weapons and have protective gear on.

That might alleviate the potential for bad blood and solve the not dying problem.

Gladiators went to schools as do all martial artists.

Well you see my main reason for the arena is for people who like to fight things. Because Most characters learn to fight in their tribe, unlike magic sword fighting is easier to learn and really does not even require a teacher.

My second reason is to let players experiment with their character to see everything that the Char. is capable of.

Sword fighting doesn't require a teacher, Navar? You're wrong. Without being taught proper form you'd be safer swinging a bar of soap at you're opponent. If no one formally taught sword fighters they'd impale themselves and history would've taken many drastic turns from its' current layout. The martial strength required for it was immense, as was the mental strength. It doesn't matter what form of combat you use, it takes time to perfect it.

But, anyways, mindless violence is something I thoroughly enjoy. Good luck.

Volkier, I agree to learn techiques you need a teache, but to learn how to fight with a sword you need no one.

Any one has the ability to pick up a meatal object and swing it. Which is what a sword fight is, Ive seen people enter fencing tournments, never having a day of traing in there life and thruogh instinct, do very well.


EDIT: And as for impaling yourself, any idiot can swing a sword with out impailing themselves.
