Musician, Scholar, Writer

.:Magic:.
Spellsong Magess

.:Title:.
Dalá'isyrás

.:Appearance Overview:.
Height: A little more than 2 peds and 2 palmspans
Weight: 121 ods
Eyes: Light Korwyn Gold - almost Silver
Hair: Cyhalloian Snow with a handful of nor'sidian strands.

.:Portrait:.
As portrayed by a close friend from Bardavos

.:Physical Appearance:.
Framed by long snowy bangs, a slender visage is accented by high cheekbones, a small brow and a petite and mildly pointed nose. Hidden from view beneath a blanket of silky tresses are two daintily peaked ears, revealed only when her hair is tucked behind them or pulled back. Thin lips decorate her pallid features with the color of wild rose, creating a stark contrast against her sallow countenance. Her porcelain complexion, though livid, is soft and free of imperfections, enabling her to keep her appearance young and exuberant. Warm korwyn golden hues, filled with knowledge, wisdom, and memories well beyond the known past, are often obscured with a melancholy haze. Once a youthful sparkling emeraude, their color has faded over time, which she speculates to be from experiences, age, and magic. Thick, long, and luxurious nor'sidian lashes surround each orb in a canopy of expressive shadows. Slight animated arches sit above both eyes, adding to the intensity of their swirling sentiment. Sitting upon narrow shoulders is an elongated curvature of expression.

Wrapping her in over two peds of satin beauty, thick tresses of colorless silk cascade about her lithesome frame. Lush bangs hang low upon her features, hiding some of her soft golden hues in a curtain of white. An occasional nor'sidian strand embellishes her hair with sleek dark highlights, giving a hint to its past color and glory which has slowly faded to a new shade of elegance. Its length and weight make it impossible for it to curl or retain any true shape for any occasion, so a simple brush through is her daily routine. Because of minimal upkeep over the years, the ends are layered from being trimmed as needed.

Her body is void of any major scarring, with the only exception of a santhran violet tattoo that decorates the area from her left wrist, across her back, and down to her right ankle, in a pattern of interweaving lines and shapes. Giving to her by the dragons, it is a symbol of their mutual friendship and respect, a gift from one kind to another. A slender feminine figure, outlined by gentle curves from her shoulders, bosom, and hips, gives a sensual allure to her lithe frame. Small and dainty hands with long willowy fingers are at the end of her lanky limbs, yet her arms possess a strength not readily noticed. Music is her life and it is within her hands and fingertips which truly tell this story, as they are thickly calloused from centuries of instrumental practice. Long supple legs carry her to and fro, even though they are hidden beneath elegant gowns most of the time. Her feet are much like her hands, small and dainty with lengthy digits. The bottoms are also calloused from years of walking barefoot in the mountain halls of the dragons.

.:Clothing:.
Draped loosely over her narrow shoulders and reaching to the ground with a slight train, a hooded nor’sidian cloak envelopes her slender frame within its dark folds. It is made of a coarse yet ample cotton cloth, tightly woven to withstand the most brutal of conditions. The lining of the cloak is rich amethyst color; woven from a finer, softer cotton and spilk blend. A deep cowl, lined with the same amethyst material which covers the inside of the cape, covers her pale complexion from the sun and precipitation. On the back, there is an intricately embroidered silver dragon, done by herself over the course of several decades. Both she and her model were pleased with the outcome of her dedication.

A santhran violet, floor-length skirt adorns the lower half of her slim form. Made of a plain durable cotton, it is simple yet elegantly fitting for her personality. Layered beneath the skirt are several fine underskirts, used for both warmth and protection. The waistband sits just above her hips. Ivory silk caresses her bosom in a soft embrace. The shirt is as simply sewn as the amethyst skirt which covers her legs. A large scoop neckline drops low upon the chest and often reveals a pale shoulder or two. Tying in the front to close a small "v" shape are two strings, threaded through the neckline and gathering it mildly. The shirt is loosely fitted and almost seems to be too large for her body, being nearly down to her knees in length. The shirt is then tucked into the waistband of the skirt, hiding the size of her overgrown apparel. A wide leather belt buckles about her at the point where her shirt and skirt meet, securing their position into place.

Supple adlemirene leather boots match the coloration of the belt about her waist. They are sturdy enough for traveling yet comfortable enough to avoid giving her bruises and blisters from running or walking. Lacing up high upon her calf, nearly halfway to her knee, they aid in the avoidance of injury. Gloves of a similar material cover her small hands for protection from the elements. She has no jewelry to her name, with the exception of a ring and a necklace, which never leave her person. A raw uncut amethyst cluster hangs from a adlemirene  leather binding around her neck. The crystal is of an average size and weight, being around six mut in total. Its color is a shadowy violet shade, darker than usual for the gem. The ring is a bare silver band her parents names finely engraved along the inside.

A long silver gown occasionally graces the gentle curves of her body, accentuating the structure and elegance of her ancient heritage. A straight yet loose neckline sits just below her shoulders, wrapping about her chest, upper back and arms. The sleeves are snug against her limbs, reaching down to a point which rests over the back of her hands. Her waist is enclosed in a silver spilk woven coreset with masterful embroidery of the allia flower. It was made especially for her, thus fits her figure's curves perfectly. The cinch itself reaches from just below her breast to the top of her hips, elongating her torso. Eyelets run along the back of the corset, with a silvery ribbon lacing through them. The skirt of the gown is layered by several. Two under-layers are made from a soft and lightweight cotton, while the top layer is made from a satiny spilk like that of the rest of the gown.

A rich blue gown is kept for special occasions, finding its home to be in that of her travel bag more than necessary. The gown hugs her slender form, giving her curves and a long elegant figure. Thick hem lines are stitched with silver thread, matching the color of her hair. Long, slender and pointed sleeves cover the back of her hands. A low scooped neckline hangs just below her shoulders, giving her pale skin more of an appearance than it would normally have. The back of the gown has eyelets with a long length of ribbon by which it is fastened and tightened to the desired strength. The skirt grazes the floor and has a mild train in the back, giving the illusion of more height and air than most would expect.

.:Personality:.
A quiet heart with a musical soul, punished by the sinful desires of others. Having endured what no woman should, her disposition has been beaten many a times by those around her, taken advantage of more than one should ever have to be. Though years have passed since such instances took place, the wounds of such memories linger, still delicate to the touch if not handled with care. As such, music has become her escape, a protective aura, from the world and the turmoils it brings to a fragile spirit. Being a quiet and reserved woman, her words are soft and few, preferring the sound of her harps to that of her voice in either spoken or song.

Tender and loving in nature, her reputation is that of a selfless being, more than willing to put the needs of others before her own despite reservations of people in general. She believes that much of her traumatic past has more than just influence her future, but changed it more than one could ever imagine. A level of connection she feels with others is often something which cannot be explained. It began when she was very young, but it seemed to gain potency over passing years and experiences. This effects her on an unpredictable level, as even she does not know what will come her way with this profound manner of association.

Because of this, she has felt like that of an outcast for most of her life, being taken advantage of and abused beyond all imagination. Yet, she retains an inspirational mentality. Past experiences have not lessened her vigor for life and living ones life to the absolute fullest. Often beaten down, she will rise again, a stronger soul than ever before, knowing that life is an ever learning and growing process and one should never take it for granted when it is graciously given.

.:Strengths:.
Tri-Lingual:
Over the years and through various experiences, she learned three languages in both speech and the written form: reading and writing. Styrash, Draconic, and Tharian, listed in the order of the most fluency. With the ability to communicate at least moderately in all three languages, she has gathered quite a collection of stories and poems, some of these reside in the large libraries in the prominent cities. Her ability as a writer and scholar goes beyond the stories and poetry, but she also provides information to the global compendium about her experiences with the 'most magnificent creatures' in all of Caelereth.

All magical incantations are spoken in Draconic, thus not understood by most, though to some experienced magi, some words may be familiar. It is because of these incantations and her years spent with the Dragons the language has become nearly second nature. She actually finds Draconic to be more familiar to her than the language of her people.

Accomplished Artist:
Long delicate fingers dance gracefully over the strings of her lyre with an unfailing precision, creating the sound of rapturous harmonies as she plays. As a natural talent, origin unknown, music has become second nature to her fingertips and her mind. No instrument is beyond her realm of comprehension or ability to create magic with; be it a drum, a horn, or made with strings, she has mastered all which have graced her hands. Like her father, music is both a emotional outlet of expression and extension of her person, helping her from one day to the next. Yet, her prowess of song goes far beyond what her fingertips may display, as her voice is just as majestic and heavenly as the tunes from her instruments. Even as she speaks, one cannot help but be enraptured with the euphonious sound which escapes her lips. When lifted in song, her range of notes is broad and strong.

Draconic Magic:
During her stay with the great creatures, she was taught many things through her growing friendships. Learning their language was a huge step for her, but also being given the privilege to learn about their abilities and powers given to them, was a particularly wonderful treat. Since she is not of the draconic bloodline, the concepts are often so different she had immense difficulty with grasping simple ideals. Yet, with practice, determination, and patience, she has a few abilities of note which she is quite proud to have been able to understand. Most of these abilities affect only her music and her approach to it, indirectly affecting those around here at a minimal level. A few of the more recent teachings are more focused on directly affecting those around her: minor healing, enchantments, and 'auras'. Yet, there are limitations to these abilities.

Empath:
Through her music and stay with the Dragons, it has brought her a new way of understanding, thinking, and feeling. The realm of being an empath, was believed to have remained somewhat dormant for most of her life, only brought to the surface when she was with the magical creatures, learning about them, their ways, and their magic. Being able to connect with others through their emotions has been both a blessing and a curse, but she has found ways to help channel the ability through her music, so it is not quite so overbearing. This is something she has no real control over, only ways to channel it differently. Feeling the emotions of another being is not something which should be taken lightly, but learning to work with such things is the art of a true empath.

.:Weaknesses:.
Hallucinations:
Something she has always suffered from, but has occasionally managed to ignore and see past in years before, but ever since her husband's death and the kidnapping of her son, she has severely lost the ability to discern the difference between what is real and what is only a trick of the mind. She often sees her husband and will have conversations with him, even in front of people, making her mental state something to be greatly questioned. This often affects her ability to interact with others in a credible manner. She also will see her son, speaking to him and interacting with him in an manner one would interact with a real child.

Language Barrier:
Her Tharian is far from a strong point, and can get her into a good deal of trouble because of her inability to speak it properly. Specifically, her area of difficulty is lack of vocabulary. Her husband had not been the most verbal of people, so what he could teach her had been very little with the exception of song. Yet, the transition from song to spoken word in meaning has been her struggle. She does her best, but often getting her ideas across are more difficult than anticipated.

Empath:
Something which does allow her to get close to people in a way, is also a great curse. She will often feel overwhelmed and lock herself away for days at a time in an attempt to make it go away, blocking off all contact with people for what may seem no particular reason. Despite her ability to find ways to channel it to keep it from being so overbearing, she does lack enough control of it that sometimes her channeling will be insufficient to help her.

.:Magic:.

Any magic knowledge and abilities she has gained has been from her stay with the Dragons and their instructions. She had no desire to learn offensive or destructive abilities, but to learn ways to enhance the experience of music. Yet, despite her insistence, she was taught a couple of lesser incantations which could prove useful in troubling situations. Though, they respected her wishes and kept their teachings mild.

.:Amplification:.
This is the ability to make her voice or music stretch farther without raising the volume or tone depending on the environment. Even simply a whisper could reach a distance of nearly 100 peds in the right situation. She uses this this ability when performing for large audiences, but finds a use for it when stacked with other abilities taught to her, enhancing the effects of the other abilities. This is also the only ability which doesn't require a special incantation to 'activate', something she can call at will.

.:Silence:.
There are times in which nothing should be said or heard. With a simple incantation, an invisible sphere will form, about two to three peds in diameter, depending on the intensity she puts forth for the effect.

.:Calm:.
All in all, this gives her the ability to bring an extended comfort to those in emotional or physical distress, but can also be used as a area of effect. Relaxing tensions which may occur in certain situations, she can use this ability to bring order...to chaos.

.:Minor Healing:.
This gives her the ability to heal minor cuts and scrapes without scaring. It isn't anything fantastic, but it serves it purpose from time to time, if a true healer is not available to the victim at the time.

.:Invisible Hands:.
Used in her musical life, an incantation provides her with the ability to play instruments without touching the strings. She would play the original piece, and the 'invisible hands' would continue to repeat what she would've originally played. It cannot create its own tune, only what she has played as she recites the incantation.

.:Magical Music:.
Music has always been a part of her life, yet it wasn't until her stay with the dragons did she expand her potential with her passion. Her affinity towards music was a mystery amongst her people, as very few seemed to turn towards the arts rather than more traditional occupations, but she found it was not difficult to make a living from such an art, as the years of progression has expanded her horizons and knowledge.

Yet, her stay with the dragons also enhanced her ability to a different level, teaching her some aspects which made music a magical aspect in her life. Whether they simply taught her or imbued her with such abilities  was not privileged to her, but what she learned and experienced was beyond reality and enlightening.

Hey Kalina.

You invited comments, so here come a few grammar/spelling related ones, which are my favourite things to check after the layout of a CD - and you have no problems there as far as I can see - apart from the fact that your weaknesses are a leetle on the sparse side - though I'm sure you know that.

Therefore: Grammar.

.:Physical Appearance:.
Framed by long snowy bangs, a slender visage is accented by high cheekbones and a small brow. A petite and mildly pointed nose is complimented by her delicate and proportional features. Once a youthful sparkling emeraude,I like this word :D their color has faded over time, believed to be from experiences, age, and magic. "Believed to be" sounds a bit...general. Is it the subject of widespread academic speculation? I think that "Which she believes to be" would just sit better.Thick, long, and luxurious nor'sidian lashes surround each orb in a canopy of expressive shadows. Slight animated arches sit above both eyes, adding to the intensity of their swirling sentiment.

Wrapping her in nearly two peds of satin beauty, thick tresses of colorless silk cascade about her lithesome frame. Lush bangs hang low upon her features, hiding some of her soft golden hues in a curtain of white. An occasional nor'sidian strands strandembellishembellishes her hair with sleek dark highlights, giving a possible hint A "possible" hint? Not wrong, but would just "Giving a hint as to its past colour" to its past color and glory having slowly faded to a new shade of elegance I would say "Which have slowly faded..." because the present participle doesn't do it for me.. Its length and weight make it impossible for it to curl or retain any true shape for any occasion, so a simple brush through is her daily routine. Because of minimal upkeep over the years, the ends are layered from being trimmed as needed.

This sentence would have to start with "Her body is void" or "She is void" to make sense - as it is, you don't mention what is void.Void of any major scaring, scarring with the exception of a santhran violet tattoo, which decorates the area from her left wrist, across her back, and down to her right ankle, in a pattern of interweaving lines and shapes. Received at a very young age, it is not uncommon for members of her father's tribe to have such intricate designs. A slender feminine figure, outlined by gentle curves from her shoulders, bosom, and hips, give her a sensual allure to her lithesome frame.Either "Give her a sensual allure" or "Gives a sensual allure to her lithesome frame". I would prefer the latter, because it is more evocative. Also, you use lithesome before. I know it is correct, but the odd word stands out, and I would suggest (very mildly, and not serious at all) to use the more usual "lithe" the second time. Just to avoid repetition. Small and dainty hands with long willowy fingers are at the end of her lanky limbs, yet her arms possess a strength not readily noticed. Music is her life and it is her hands and fingertips which truly tell this story, as they are thickly calloused from centuries of instrumental practice. Long supple legs carry her to and fro, even though they are hidden beneath elegant gowns most of the time. Her feet are much like that of her hands,The "that" is redundant, because you are talking about her feet, not a feature of them. small and dainty with lengthy digits. The bottoms are also calloused from years of walking barefoot in the mountain halls of the dragons.

Ok, so. More may be forthcoming when I can, but supper with parents and Remembrance Sunday parade tomorrow made it a little trickier.

Well, since the piece is still a WIP and I haven't quite decided what I am going to do for her when it comes to weaknesses, they remain as it stands.

Of course. I just didn't want you to think that I'd read the CD a bit too hastily when I pronounced the layout fine. I certainly didn't mean to imply that they -had- to be done at once, or that you didn't know, for that matter.

Sorry for any misunderstanding.

I haven't made any grammatical corrections yet, but I have managed to write her weaknesses finally.

I hope they are debilitating enough to counter her strengths well enough.

I am not sure how much I will actually be playing her, but I figured I should at least finish her.

Her history will be something completely different, as I am not sure how I am going to address it at this point. I may just expand a bit more on the outline, adding a few details, but I think it covers a lot of information at the moment. I fear if I go to try and actually write out her history, it would turn into a novel and I doubt you all would want to read that in her actual CD.

You kidding me? You writing a novel? I'd love to read your history! Don't spare us the details, I think each of us story mods would love to read your history.

If you explain how she works her magic, I think I might have a better idea of whats going on, there. As it is, of course we can trust you with the equivalent of a high level ximaxian mage, but I'd still like to see an explanation of her draconic magic. She certainly has more spells than is normal, and the Wind Wall sounds pretty difficult. You see, the closest there is to that in Ximaxian wind magic is "Shielding Winds" (http://santharia.com/magic/wind_spells/7_shielding_winds.htm) and that's a level 7 spell, but the effect you are going after would be reserved for a higher lvl mage casting the spell.

The parts of the entry that are the most relative to this:

Quote
Magi who are more powerful would be able to cover a larger area with the spell without weakening its effect, literally erecting a wall of Wind between themselves and their attackers.

I will see what I can do. I am thinking I will just get rid of that particular ability. I think I need to change the magic section a bit anyways, as they aren't really meant to be spells, but more like abilities. If that makes any sense. Brain is now a little fried from so much writing today.
