Merfolk

« on: August 21, 2008, 01:59:23 AM »

Basic Information

Name Chii
Age 23
Gender Female
Race Merfolk
Title Femme Fatale

“Pale rays of light tiptoed across the waters; and by the by there was to be heard a sound at once the most musical and the most melancholy in the world: the mermaids calling the moon.”

Physical Appearance

Height 1 Ped, 2 Fores, 3 Nailsbreadths
Weight 1 Pygge, 3 Hebs, 1 Od
Hair Color Xazure
Eye Color Waterberry Blue

From her waist upward, Chii's body is identical to that of a lithe human female, the only noticeable difference being the rich blue hue of her skin. Soft, round hips tapper off into a slim, narrow waist before reaching her small, though finely shaped, breasts. The pale, delicate column of her neck leads up to a sweetly oval chin, above which are situated a pair of plump, full lips and straight little nose. Long, slender arms flow flawlessly from a pair of perfectly rounded shoulders, two dainty hands with ten nimble fingers finishes the complete affect. In addition, two long fins stretch across the back of the upper arms, as well as fitting between each of her sharply taloned fingers. Perilously alluring eyes peek out from beneath a veil of deep blue tresses. A mere glimpse into the bewitching, Waterberry pools and you're trapped, marveling at such captivating beauty.

The lower half of her body resembles that of the back of a large fish, with slick, oily scales encasing the entirety of it. Where a pair of feet would normally be, are two perfectly symmetrical tail fins. Matching the rest of her coloring, her scales are only several shades darker than that of her skin, with a sprinkling of a deep metallic green skirting the edges. The only adornment she wears are shells and corals of varying colors twined into the mass of her hair. On occasion, when she becomes bored with her present array of decorations, she'll swap them for other colorful garnishments.

Personality

Like other Merfolk, Chii's intelligence can be compared to that of a toddler. More often than not, if an object isn't in plain view, then it simply doesn't exist to her at all. One moment she'll be completely enthralled with a particularly colorful fish, and the moment it swims out of view her memory of it disappears, as tangible as the wind. Lively and curious, she enjoys playing games in the water and singing songs to sailors, satisfied when her soft, velvety voice completely captivates the attention of her audience. While at times her temper can flare under little provocation, it is fleeting and not to be taken seriously, as only moments later, she forgets why she was mad in the first place.

Strengths

Teeth and Talons - A mouthful of finely pointed teeth and dangerously sharp talons assist Chii in hunting for meals, easily overtaking fish of a variety of sizes. Also used for protection, they can slice through fishing net or simply carve up an attacker.

Voice - While Chii has no need for Santharian currency, she often uses her singing voice to acquire shiny trinkets and baubles from passing sailors and other such generous individuals.

Weaknesses

Memory - With such short-term memory, Chii is prone to forgetting even simple things after only a small amount of time. She'll forget where she hid things almost as soon as she's hidden them and after meeting people, their memory will be erased completely from her mind until the next time she sees them.

Intelligence - Like the rest of her race, Chii is not very bright and struggles to comprehend that world beyond the realm of water. She can only identify a handful of Tharian and Styrash words.

History

Journal
Lance Rockledge - Captain of the Reckless

29th, Awakening Earth

Today was the first sighting of this strange creature from below the water of Cyon Sola Bay. My guess would be that the gender is female, though I only had a glimpse of floating hair before she completly submerged herself again. As she dove deeper, a quick flap of a blue fin disturbed the calm of the water. Was there some sort of aquatic being with her, or did the fin belong to her?

15th, Changing Winds

It's been seventeen days since I first saw the woman. Yes, most definitely a woman. She lay prone on her back, bathing in the sun on the soft sand. My eyes first went to the protrusions on her chest, identifying to me that she was female. She was singing softly to herself as I approached, but ceased and fled into the water as she heard my footsteps inching closer. I'll have to keep my distance next time...

14th, Singing Bird

It's been one month, and I still haven't seen the beautiful creature from the water. I've been coming back to the Bay almost everyday, wishing.. hoping. I find myself almost obsessed to the point of mania at times. Will I ever see her again?

18th, Singing Bird

Am I dreaming, or has she really come back to me? Surely this cannot be reality, for no such splendor can exist like this. Perched serenely on on a rock several peds away, she sits, soft pulling her fingers through the mass of blue that is her hair. With what looks like a heavy sigh, she slumps onto her stomach, letting her hand slip into the lukewarm water beneath her. From a distance I hear some sort of noise, as I listen closer I can make out the syllables. Chii... Chii... As the sound reaches the fish woman, her head jerks immediately in the direction it came from before diving headfirst into the water. Was someone calling her? Chii... Perhaps it's her name? I'm going to be doing some research tonight.

2nd, Rising Sun

Simply seeing this marvelous creature lifts my spirits considerably, so words cannot justify the feelings whirling inside of me when I witnessed her frolicking innocently amongst the gentle sway of high tide. She held some sort of pendant in her hands, and with further observation I noticed that the tips of her finger, perhaps her nails, tapered into sharp points. Tossing the object into the water she would dive enthusiastically after it before reemerging with it in her grasp once again. Once again I could hear the gentle calling of her "name" from somewhere further out in the bay. Chii... Chii... My research has led me to believe that this term is loosely translated as "Sea". Several other words of their strange language can find their origin from Tharian. Again, she disappears beneath the waves.

21st, Rising Sun

This time my visit was in the late hours of the night, but fortune was on my side as there she was, floating elegantly in the water. Singing! Oh how lovely her voice sounds to my ears! Apparently she decided to grace the occupants of a fishing boat with the melodic harmony. As I watched the expression of awe on the faces of the crew I found myself shouting encouragements for her to continue along with them. When she finished, several of the men tossed trinkets into the water. She dove under to retrieve them but didn't resurface this time. Perhaps I will bring her trinkets of my own...

7th, Burning Heavens

Today I sat several peds up the shore of the beach, waiting patiently for her to snatch up the silver bracelets I left in a pile just out of reach of the tide. I didn't have to wait long. She crept cautiously up the surf, eying the jewelry. Timidly she reached out and grabbed them with her long, taloned fingers. I gasped and she heard me. Quickly she disappeared under the water once again. I stood and watched as she jumped in and out of the water towards the horizon. Perfection.

14th, Passing Clouds

This will be my last entry on my mysterious water nymph. There hasn't been a sighting of her in months and I have long since given up hope that she will return to me. At times I find myself longing for just a mere glimpse of her beauty, and the ache that slowly began building in my chest made me feel for a moment that I might have been better off not knowing her at all. I would be wrong.. Such extraordinary grace and beauty is worth any pain that the loss could cause me. Good bye forever, my femme fatale.

Belongings
Her only belongings consist of a large number of colorful shells, corals and shiny objects, stashed in hiding places that she's been known to forget about almost as quickly as she finds them.

Well, I believe I am finished. There are probably several grammar and spelling mistake that I'll correct when I have the time. But other than that, comments please! ^_^

Hiya Chee! I must say that the writing in this CD is tantalizing, and I adore this character. I'm assuming you know the RPing restrictions placed on merfolk characters, but other than that and a few grammar things which I will go ahead and point out for you, this is perfect. heart

Thanks so much! You're making me blush  Roll Eyes And no this isn't my first CD ^_^; I also did Leilani, Roslynn and Ano'i, though I consider this by far the best one I've done. I've corrected the grammar and spelling mistakes.

I would agree with you; this CD is stunning. Hopefully you can find a story where you can actually play her... Big Grin

Anyways, those were the only grammar mistakes I caught, and there's nothing wrong conceptually that I see. cool

Indeed, a wonderful CD! Very creatively written (we seem to be getting alot of out of the box CDs nowadays...nothing wrong with that!). Your other CDs are also of excellent quality, Ros, and this one is no different.  Thumb up
