Hey everybody I am back from the hospital, but not up to posting yet. Probably in a week. Just wanted to let everyone know that I am fine, tired as an ole hound dog, but alive and still praising God.

Welcome back Capher, take your time and regain your strength. As always you are more important to us than your posts. You have become a dear friend.
Talia, I hope all is well on your front, best wishes to you and your family.
Sorry I have not been around so much... really no excuses, just got too busy doing to little. Think I am on the right track now. Still at a loss for what to post as well. Hope all are well.

So glad you are back, Capher!
I had hoped that I could do a lot of writing during the holidays, especially when I was alone at home with Helen-Elise. I was wrong. We did play together WoW, that#s right, but on the other side we stayed some days with my parents (which are not well, especially my mother has quite a lot of pain, from broken ribs and what else) and then out younger cat Lily was missing for four days and in that time nothing was possible. We went from door to door, asking people if they have seen her.. now she is back, next week all we be in gear again, husband working, kids at school or university. I hope I'll find back to a normal schedule.

Hi all, unfortunately my recovery is taking longer than I expected...I guess it must mean I am becoming very old. I am sorry for those of you who were depending upon me to post. Perhaps one of the mods can take over. I am not sure how long yet before I am ready....so very very sorry.
Take care, I miss you all so very very much.

Hey all, my good friends I am back and raring to get this story on track again.
Talia are you going to get us to Ximax? BTW, how are your parents, especially your mother? I have been praying for them and your family...it must be exhausting to you and them.
@the rest of our wonderful players, how have you all been? Fine, I hope.

Yes, I'll o it today, I need to get back in my tracks.
Thanks for praying, Capher, my parents need it. My mother is not well , has broken the next vertebra. I need to persuade them to go to a special doctor who is versified in painkilling. But that is not easy.

Talia, very nice post. I have been thinking about what to write about the orb and everything ever since I knew I was going to Ximax and though several ideas had popped up I forgot to write them down except for a few lines for each idea. I hope when I read them over something will jump out and I will be able to respond. I do know that I need to research the orb, though I recall I did that the last time and there was not that much to go on except it was buried underneath the acadamy itself.
On a personal note; if your mom continues breaking her vertebrea's will she not become paralyzied soon? I hope that does not happen and I will continue to pray for her and your family. It must be very hard on your father, as well you and the rest of your family...I am so sorry. Is there not a way the doctors can fuse the bones together to help her?

Capher, the orb seems to be a big "stone", don't know if entirely buried or not, over which the central dome was build to protect the environment from its manifestation, radiation, or what else. This dome has to have obviously magical properties as well. If I recall it right, only high level mages are allowed to enter.
Just write what comes to your mind, as long as you come out healthy again.
I don't know, if we should continue soon. Rookie is not here (not on the dev-board either), nor Terra. We should send an email around first, if the time is right to restart it again. I would not mind waiting another few weeks , so that I ca get some other stuff done instead.
Well, my mother still can move, though under pain. Especially out of bed is difficult. I wondered myself, that she has no problems with being able to go to the toilet or with 'sleeping feet' . She had two surgeries already (that ballonkyphoplastie) But she goes already a little bend. It is all so difficult, my father is often under pain as well and needs painkillers on a regular basis. I admit, I'm often relieved when I can leave again, for it is a torture to see your beloved in such a state. And my father has to endure it every day, not to speak from doing all household scores. They scarcely use the help of other people to help them (too stubborn!). *sigh*

I am about, just a little lost as to what to post. Think I would need a little prompting from Ta'las as to the state of his character to really come up with anything. I am watching though an looking for an in to get going again.
Talia, I do hope you can convince your parents that your mother should see a specialist for her condition.

I am going to assume that all of you are in the same room, including Ta'las, who is comforting Terra, and also our mind-soother, whose name escapes me at the moment, along with you Talia.
Once we have been united we will either rest and let the story rest or we could go on. It is your decision.
If we go on, or even if we rest for awhile, Talia I would still like to see Heiro and Mimi again.

Hey Capher, dear, don't feel to hurry with your posts! We need to get a bit quicker to our new places, but let the other the freedom to react first before you post. Staying in the academy would have been great, but your knocking at the door came to early. Now Ta'las post comes a bit late.
And, you told some things differently than I did. It is not good to hurry to get a post up, if it contradicts the one before.
- I did not say anything of a rundown inn, we stayed just in one, which seemed to be ok, for I did not describe it.
- And then you tell the story entirely different to what I have written, what is the purpose? We were not held up by a gatekeeper at the outer gate of the city, but went directly to the inn where we are staying. Then Ta'las and I brought you to the gate of the academy, where of course we are let in by a gatekeeper and finally meet one person Talia assumes might be the archmage. No twelve archmagi etc.
- I got it wrong, the orb is, if a kind of stone at all, buried, what is above ground and shielded by the dome is just the magical energy, if there is a materiel shield at all. Seems I imagined this wrongly all time:
Quote
On the inside of the Circle rests one of the Wonders of Santharia: the Tear of Avá, the Uarná'ésh-dél, the Orb of Ximax... Call it what you will, this immensely powerful sphere of magical energy is the heart of the Institute, and the entire City of Mages was built up around this phenomenon. The only mortal beings allowed to enter the roiling energies within the Orb are the Archmagi, during their induction and meetings of the Conclave. It is rumored that the Orb is truly a place where the energies of the Gods can be focused; where the line between the Dream and Night is blurred, and it is the only place where mortals may reach the divine - or so it is told...
Capher, would be cool, if you could remove your post and put it (the edited?) behind Ta'las, would make more sense concerning the chronology of the story.
And again, please let us not hurry at the expense of the quality of the story. It will degrade, if we do not worry about the fitting to the world described on the site. Or if we do not care how it looks. Let us take the time to read all on the site which is necessary for this part of the story. The next task would be to read the entries about Ximax (not so important, if we are not staying here for long), but mainly the Zhirgurhim Dwarves, if we still plan to go there. (It is a well described , different clan, we would need a good story there though).
We use different tenses anyway, which makes it not easier to read. The roleplaying rules on the site still say, that present tense is what should be used, and we started out with that tense. So would not you all consider to go back to that?
Capher, I'm not sure, that Aminah is with us, she is not yet related to the group. If we all in one room, no idea, it would be a bit crowded. Maybe Ta'las and Terra want an own?
And as I said, don't know yet please, allow the story to evolve. Your healing went very quickly, I assumed you would be away for several days, and we were waiting for you. But that is your decision. (And in this waiting time, the story could have stopped for a while).
I see no chance to bring Mimi and Hiero back, Capher. They are not part of the story and their introduction did not help us much. I have not the time to write this many characters, though writing Mimi is as much fun as Lori, though the two are quite different.
I saw Rookie on the dev-board, I'm ready to continue the story - without hast - if all others have enough time as well and want to do so.
After spell-checking:
Maybe before we start we should first try to figure out, roughly, what we will experience in the dwarven homes. What we will get to know (finally where the anvil is), but what else will happen? A small sideplot would be cool. but not too long.

As usual Talia I rushed things...I am sorry. I will delete my post completely and start over again, this time with the right information, though to be honest I did read the part that you just quoted, and I read about the outer city and inner city and the twelve magi and their staffs. I found no reference that the orb is buried. For if it is buried how could anyone see it or touch it as the archmagi do?
However I will do more research on the subject which will allow all of you to react to what has happened.
I do agree that we need to be more careful about tenses, which I admit I am most at fault...again I am sorry. Sometimes I just do not understand. I think I am writing in present tense, but I get confused over what present tense is compared to third person writing. It may just be the problem between English and German because German is much more precise. I am not sure.
I also agree Talia that we all should read up on the dwarves, the anvil, the sword of fury, and a good well thought out sub-plot would be good too. I had started giving a hint of one back when Eckra spoke to Capher and told him a few things. Perhaps we could start there and with all of our collective minds and energies we can come up with a real nice sub-plot that could meld, if we wished, into the main plot.
I shall take care of my post...post haste.

Don't worry about my ramblings Capher
About the orb, I think the confusion might have come from the fact, that there are two 'orbs'.
The one is that whatever crashed into the plain of Ximax and around which the academy was build. If we take the above quote, then whatever it was, it is now buried (which would make sense) and just its magical emanations can be experienced. The mages build some protection , the dome, around that emanation to protect the surrounding. If that protection is entirely of magical nature or a building enforced with magic I have not researched.
What exists also and what you might have read is the
Orb of Bluestride (=Xarl)
. I admit, I had entirely forgotten about it. That thing speaks, but it is something entirely different.
Do we want to plot the story together, or should just two do it, PM, and surprise the others? The outcome has to be, that we need to go to Nyermersys
And if somebody has free time on his hands, the general summary needs to be updated! I loose the overview, where the Heart is.

Hey Guys,
As you may have guessed from my crappy posting times, over the last year I've been gradually loosing my santharia obsession. I took the part in this story thinking that such a long running, amazing and well written story would rekindle my interest, but I think I underestimated how much it was waning and even your great storylines haven't helped me. I mean seriously, if that boat drama couldn't draw me back in I don't think anything can! So I'm really sorry but I'm going to be leaving all the stories I'm in, and probably just do the odd bit of CD-reading and some stuff on the dev. Please feel free to use Aminah as an NPC for as long as you want to - I won't use her in anything else and she's been attached to this story for ages even if she wasn't in it. She's all yours if you want her! Thanks again for inviting me to join you - even though I didn't really do much it was one of the things that encouraged me to keep rping on this site when I first came and probably contributed to me becoming so enthusiastic about it all in the first place
Thanks guys,
Rookie/Aminah xxx
Edit: Ok, slight change of plan - Sim/Roosje would like to take over Aminah's character, and I'm more than happy to let her as we've rped together for ages and I trust her completely. Would that be ok?
