It's me burning money. Not-so-obvious pun on 'burning'. I'll see if this can get something out of you.

EDIT: We people, we crazy, crazy people. Watch out, appearances are deceptive.

Thorgas is still resisting the mind spell. Dwarves are good at that you know. But keep the spell up and let's see what will happen.

Ah, there's no need. Ridgy's focused on having fun... And of course, surviving :P 'twill be rather hard with the rest of the room against him ._.

Just to remind you Ridgen, casting spells repeatedly especially in quick successions would weaken the mind, disorient the caster, and cause headaches and nausea. The chances of fizzling a spell becomes higher as well, and some may not even cast spells anymore for differing duration. You are the first 3rd level mage I have met that can cast spells without any effect on yourself. Many casters would rest between spells (about 2-5 minutes, to regain composure) to prevent the risk of fizzling and potentially doing more harm than good. ;)

And the staff is made out of iron. You won't find any trees growing inside the dwarven caves, I'm afraid. LOL

@ Ridgen: I see you've done your research. It will freak him out a bit, though to be honest, James will be more afraid of any horses in the stable than of a torch. Food for thought.

Wow, Ridgen really has snapped. I'll post later today, I don't have time at the moment. James will be freaked out of his mind, however the proposition of a game will be enticing to say the least. I assume its been presented due to Ridgen's research.

EDIT: Ok, I've posted. I wonder what game we're going to play. I just realized that James is surrounded by three women, some horses and a pyromancer. All things he fears. He's excited for the adventure though and that often overpowers his caution. Helping everyone at the same time, is a significant perk though. I wonder what Selena has to say about the ongoing events.

I'll make something up LOL Let the randomness begin :D

Okay, if you're confused about Ridgen's personality/intentions right now, here's a recap:

Ridgen = bored elf with nothing to do
bored elf with nothing to do = someone who's going to try to have fun
bored elf with nothing to do + commotion in the stables = opportunity to have fun
fun/amusement = confuzzling people in the stables/playing games with people in the stables + acting like someone he isn't to hide his persona

If you need more explanation LOL I'll be happy to ermh... explain LOL

Okay so I just realized all the new replies in the stables. I will hopefully be able to make a post sometime tomorrow if my mind will agree with me to be creative :)

@Ridgen: Please play as if you're the character himself. I don't know how you could have known about James' fear of fire unless you have known him for a long time, he told you his secret, or you have witnessed this fear for yourself. The first rule of role playing is that you shall not roleplay as god. I've let you break a couple of rules (i.e. spellcasting machine that can ignore a surprise attack with a whip at will, not to mention breaking the said whip by merely grasping it, etc.) but please try to respect the rules; they're here to give everyone a pleasant roleplaying experience.

I'm playing as an observant character. Knowing one's fears is easy if you know how people act (people subconsciously avoiding certain things. If you've been playing with fear for a while you'd know it's a typical reaction). Seeing the fact that Thorgas is a mage was pretty easy as well, considering he was holding a reagent, being dependent on a staff and being able to identify that Ridgen was casting mind spells. I can turn down the degree of observation a notch if you wish. And ropes do get weaker when they get cold :l

If you wish, though, Thorgas, I'll tone things down here a bit. Just sayin'.

Edit: sorry if I seem (more than) a bit rude in this post. Feeling a bit grumpy this morning because of... Well, it's not important. Just going to say that I will turn things down a notch with the 'observations' thing.

Your turn, James.

I will soon. However for now I have a paper or two that I must write. I apologize for the inconvenience but I don't have time at the moment.

I think James will be freaked out of his mind but the thought of possibly besting a devil will be quite the incentive to carry on.

Yes, but Mr. Seabird did not mention it in his post. You can however ask to him allow you to mod his character's 'subconscious behavior' a bit and inform me in advance so everything will be in order.

I haven't read your earlier reply, but rest assured that whatever tone you used on me will be met with the same response. It is good that we can sort things out before I resort to sterner measures. Keep in mind that I am not enforcing rules that I invented for the tavern, those are the rules required by the administrators to ensure that all role playing experience will be wonderful and fun.

Have a nice day.

You too Mr. Thorgie, you too :D

Thanks for being more or less forgiving on this matter. I'll make sure to do as instructed later on, so this won't happen again, I promise :D

Okay, back to the fun. What's going to happen next, I wonder?

Posted. Thanks for your patience. Sorry Thorgas, I guess I haven't been clear about his state of mind beyond the superficial thought.

I'm looking forward to this battle of wills. I hope they write songs about it!
