Ask any questions about the Home Threads here. You can also post general questions here and we'll put them in this post with answers so that everyone doesn't have to ask the same question.

Before you ask a question please read the rules and all of the other information posted.

You need to have an approved CD to make a house.

Do you have to be finished writing your character to make a house? Maybe that's a stupid question, but I would like to be sure.

Hi Ohenmar,

Yes, an approved character is required before you can have a house approved and start playing in it. An approved character is also required before you can visit someone else's house.

These requirements don't stop you from planning a house offsite so it can go through the approval process once you are approved, however. You can also provide comments on other houses that are in the process of being approved as well, if you so desire.

I hope that answer helps.

Hmmm ...

Ok, I'm looking at making an orc for myself, in the style of the Ximax Orcs in the city of Ximax.

Now, we all live in the catacombs beneath the city ... a subject on which there is very little information.

In fact, all I can find about how they live is in the Ximax Orc entry itself ...

Quote
These orcs live in catacombs under Ximax, mainly under the Red Tower. Though they do often journey above ground, during both day and night. They enjoy the large stone halls they've carved out, with the help of some of the dwarves. There are some small square-shaped well-like structures with grates over them, at regular intervals in alleys and other out of the way places, which usually have smoke coming out of them from the living and gathering places of the orcs

From what I can see, this is all the information that exists about them. Would you think these well-like structures would just be a window type of thing, or would that be how access to the orc 'houses' would be gained as well?

From the entry, the boxes seem more like windows or vents. The entry is probably a normal door at ground level.  The houses  would probably be accessed through a main tunnel.

Hey, do I have to have an actual building as a house?  My character is not in a position to be able to buy or even own any house and lives in the Vontron Forest... thus elminating any chance of being in a city or village filled with buildings.  I happen to sleep in a small tent under a tree, most days.  Also, I cannot find a map that gives me a readable scale to give me the distance between the Vontron Forest and near cities so as to provide travel time.

Good question, Elicas.

My answer to that would be, no. You don't need to have an actual building as your house. The elves, for example live amongst the trees. The Black Butterfly Rover camp I'm doing for Dek are their caravans. I'm counting that as his house. I'd say that provided it is something that you call home, that'll be fine.

With regards to the other question, I can't see that information either. My suggestion would be to make a rough guess in terms of distance/time.

This isn't really a relevant question, but have Lursus and Foraste been active at all? Just wondering as my house will be finished soon, and Ohenmar and Lia are already in limbo seeing as there's only one mod around to give approval.  Undecided

EDIT: Oh, and I've just thought: I was thinking of including the beach and cliff beside Jenna's home as part of the area players can wander into, when the house is hopefully finished. Would this be allowed, or does everything have to be within the house proper?

Jenna: I'm going to go ahead and mention this: Lursus hasn't been online since October 5th and the board registers the last sighting of Foraste on October 26th.

I've emailed Foraste in the last few days to see how things are going for him.

And yes, Jenna, I don't have a problem with you including the beach and cliff as part of your house area.

Dek with a Phlegah disguise on.

Thanks Valan and *peers past the shimmering illusion of an orc lady to the rover behind* Dek. Eep, looks like we need some more mods!

I believe one of the admins needs to take care of that for you, Lia.

Kalina has had things to take care of recently.

I haven't seen Master Golden Shield around much of late (but that could just be my work load going up of late.

But, hopefully we'll get that sorted for you soonish.
