Well. I decided it was high time I shared some of my non-santharian writings and doodlings with you lovely, intelligent people. So here they are. Comments of any nature are greatly welcomed. heart

You approach a small stall, behind which sits a hobbit lad-no, lass, for that face is distinctly feminine, despite it's boyish dress. The stall front is cluttered with tattered pamphlets and various scraps covered in illustrations.
"Ah!" says the hobbit, smiling as she looks up from her book. "Here be some of my humble works of creation. Browse away, my good friend, browse away, and if you see something you like, please do let me know. Or, if you think I could've done something better, why, any help and constructive comments are just as appreciated."

Writing

Urban crawler, or, a fear of the dark   A complete short (ish) story, and a rare example of a sci-fi setting in my writing, though the plot is much more supernatural/horror-ish. Probably one of the best things I've written, in my opinion, as I'm quite pleased with the pace, tension, release of info on the setting etc. even though the language isn't my best. Warning:Contains a couple of mild swear words and ...um...scary bits?

Drawing

Portrait of Jenna   Drawn entirely with a HB pencil. Sepia filter added with photshop.

Loki and the apple of Idun   I love mythology, and norse myth most of all. Loki is probably my all-time favourite god, and I like drawing the norse gods in a modern setting. So, in this version, the apples of idun are vials of liquid instead of actual fruit. Inked traditionally, coloured in photoshop.

Sylvia Pallinor sketches    Various incarnations of the half-elf.

Happy St. George's day    A fit of mild patriotism. Inked traditionally, coloured in photoshop.

Ghoulish    A macabre little drawing that started as a little pen doodle, but grew and grew into this monstrous form! Entirely pen, no sketch used. Grey bg added in photoshop.

Final Sylvia sketch  My almost final sketch for Sylv's portrait, ready to be tweaked and coloured in photoshop.

Portraits

I am more than happy to draw a portrait of your char for you for free- in fact I welcome it, as it forces me to get busy and stop procrastinating :D However, as Santh neatly takes up most of my free time, and because other things sadly have to come first, it'll probably take a while. Anything from a month to a few months. So if you're interested, please do PM me. Your patience and support is greatly appreciated. :)

Currently working on a portrait for: Sylvia Palinor

This is where I am suppose to give some witty critique to assist you. Although with my poor artistic skills, I can only stare in awe and applaud you. clap

Very nice work, Jenna.

Each of the pictures seem to have different 'feel' associated with it: fun; patriotic; self assured; alluring; and terrifying ... at least to me. No, I'm not going to say which feeling goes with which picture.

A question for you ... when you say 'inked traditionally' what do you mean exactly? What would be a non-traditional method of inking?

When I get back, I'll read your story more thoroughly, but at first glance, I think I'm going to like the story as well :D

Aww, thankyou so much Sylvia!  heart You should keep up your writing too- you've got a gift.

Hey, thanks so much, Dek! Well, I think I can safely bet on which picture two of those feelings go with...and take a guess at the others(Unless you find Jenna terrifying!  :D). I should really draw some more so I have more to show.

Oh, and traditional inking basically means the lineart has been drawn on paper, with pens, as opposed to digital inking, where you'd draw the lines straight onto the computer on a drawing program like gimp or photoshop, with a mouse or a tablet. If you see someone talking about traditional art on an art site, it basically means they didn't draw it on the computer.

Hope that helps, and I'm looking forward to what you think of the story! (when you return, that is)

Really cool stuff and amazing detail, I think you just inspired me to pick up a pencil and start drawing again.  :D

Aww! Thankyou thankyou thankyou, Ylaya! hug Maybe you should post some of your own pics up here ;) I've been wondering- did you draw your own portrait? Because I remember that when you joined, you used a sketch picture before the full-colour one.

Ylaya! That would be most awesome! I was thinking of doing the same thing with Kemruhnt, before it died.

Jenna,

The pictures all show a real talent and the story is incredibly well written and executed.
In fact, why not do some illustratiins for it? That Ghoulish one is really quite apt, methinks.

Definitely includable in any compendium of short stories it's not excluded from by definition, I say.

There should be a vote "Best Contribution to Arts" - you'd get my vote all the way!

Oh, thankyou so much for your lovely words, Anirdulf! I'm really, really glad you liked all my little bits and pieces so much :) Especially the story, seeing as it's from quite a while ago now and I could probably write something better if I tried buck

Hm... now I feel like doing some more art/drawing... seeing as I'm absolutely terrible at actually finishing things.

Nifty little cartoony look you've got going. Expressions are maintained and recognizable; all the faces look a bit angular, but I'll chalk it up to style.
