Name:: AdyŠ Sků'n

Occupation:: Nomad

Gender:: Female

Race:: Human

Tribe:: Kassite

Age:: 28

Birthday:: 1641 A.S., 21st day of Rising Sun.

Eye Color:: Metallic Grey

Hair Color:: Norísidian

Height:: A few grains over 1 Ped, 2 Fores, 1 Palmspan and 3 Nailsbreadths.

Weight:: 1 Pygge, 4 Hebs, 1 Hafeb, 1 Od and 10 Mut.

Title:: Cavalry Courtesan

*_*Appearance*_*
AdyŠ could be considered an exotic splendor by gentlemen on the Sarvonian continent. At just over one ped, two fores and one palmspan the nomad is very short for her tribe. Weighing in the range of one pygge, four hebs, one hafeb, one od and ten mut she is not generally lean of form. With curvaceous hips and a corporeal sized bosom, one might be inclined towards words such as healthy, vigorous and possibly sensual. Beneath her sublime pallid skin, allusions of well-defined muscles ripple gingerly in all aspects of the nomad's sumptuous movements.

Almond-shaped, metallic grey eyes slope upward at each corner and glow with a sense of elation. They are poised in symmetrical flawlessness on either side of the Kassiteís petite, vaguely pudgy nose. Slightly fyrite hued cheeks accentuate the maidenís eyes like porcelain frames, designed to hold the most fragile of flowers. AdyŠ smiles quite often, exhibiting a brilliant display of congenial excellence. With pearly white exquisiteness revealed beyond minutely tinted pink, bow shaped lips. One could only use the words superb radiance to describe such a demonstration. Perched underneath the nomadís mouth is a subtle chin that flows in lovely precision along her jaw line.

Above drawn out, slender eyebrows sprout rather substantial spilk-like norísidian tresses. These silken locks cascade over the maidenís right eye, though she does endeavor to keep these strands in respite behind a delicate ear. Their span surges tentatively over the maidenís diminutive, yet proud shoulders, coming to rest a few palmspans beyond her fragile neckline. AdyŠís perky ears are recurrently exposed within this wave of her lustrous mane. No indications of previous adornments mar their surfaces, nor is there any suggestion that trinkets have ever been displayed upon the Kassiteís neck. Although, jewelry has become a possible option for her, as she observes the ladies of Sarvonia.

Across her generous bosom and toned stomach the Kassite wears a well crafted banded-mail breastplate of Korweynite construction. The exterior is lacquered in a profoundly dark karikrimson hue, with injohue tone filigree intricately painted just below the maidenís neckline. Centered over the front plate is the image of a phoenix taking flight, with a sun rising behind it, the icon is of the same golden color as the filigree. The armor has a pair of short pins that are riveted into the bands, one just above her breast on each side. Solitary yellow tassels are fastened with slipknots as they pass through the aforementioned pins. These bobbles tumble to respite just a few nailsbreadths above AdyŠís midsection.

Upon each of her proud shoulders the Kassite wears spaulders, which span from the maidenís collarbone to a few nailsbreadths above her elbows. Each of them are a set of eight bands of metal interlocking so as to grant substantial protection and freedom of movement. The surfaces of these defensive pieces are karikrimson in color, whilst their edges are highlighted with aurium hued decorative inlays. Across the nomadís forearms is a pair of vambraces, done in the same motif as the spaulders. The maidenís well-built arms are left unprotected along the length of their undersides, as AdyŠ does not wear a chain hauberk as more heavily armored warriors might. Her nimble hands are left uncovered so as to permit her articulate digits a vast range of freedom.

A duo of cavalry sabers are poised, one on each hip, in sheaths wrapped in karikrimson hued leather. They are forged from iron mined in the Troll Mountains and smelted with vernik, the alloy is rumored to be unbreakable. Their subtle curved blades are razor sharp along the weapons length. On the flat side of each is a pair of narrow blood grooves etched exquisitely in light arches, following the blade's gentle curves. The hand guards are aurium hued and inlayed with a stylized dragon motif. The hilts are constructed of stout wood overlaid with deep crimson leather, wrapped tightly, granting the Kassite an unwavering grip. The pummels are a simple spike, about three nailsbreadths in length, that are well worn from use.

In a blackened quiver over her left shoulder the nomad carries a full score of finely crafted arrows. Their shafts made of yew wood, fletched with bright red feathers and tipped with steel broad heads. On the outside of this quiver is a sheath in which the Kassiteís composite bow resides. Its length constructed of three layers pressed together, the inner most being birch, whilst the center is steel and bone used as the face. The characteristics of this weapon are an eighty od draw weight with a range of just over one dash, sixty-three peds and two fores.

*_*Personality*_*
One might imagine that a person with AdyŠís mental afflictions and turbulent past would be a somewhat gloomy or introverted individual, yet this is in no-way near the truth. The nomad is a rather free spirited and carefree soul that enjoys the simple things to be garnered in life. She takes pleasure in wide open spaces, frequently being found in fields with her head poised high and eyes closed. The gentle zephyrs adrift through her hair, the loving touch of Injera upon her face and the rustling sound of the grasslands whispering softly. These settings give the maiden a sense of freedom and hints at the feeling of relaxed flight, uplifting her heart even in the most troubled of times.

Another particular aspect of the nomadís life that brings her great pleasure is the time spent tending horses. As this is a labor of love for the Kassite, she frequently finds ways to be around such beasts and will commonly make up reasons to lengthen her time with them. When amongst those with some knowledge in this field, AdyŠ becomes almost mesmerized as she falls into the conversation. The adoration she has for everything equine can be read easily in the loving twinkle that shimmers over her metallic grey eyes. Even the general tone of her voice takes on a lighthearted air as she endeavors to express her familiarity in regards to this topic.

With the Kassiteís enjoyment being found in moments of solitude and self-reflection, a person might perceive that these situations are her preference, yet this is not entirely true. AdyŠ takes pleasure in times spent amongst friends as well. The nomad is an extremely social individual that thoroughly opens up around people, laughing, joking and generally fun-loving. With her tendency of treating others like long lost friends, an aura of optimism surrounds the maiden habitually. Her grin twinkles like a breath of spring and her voice takes on a tender quality reminiscent of summer rain, when in these environments.

A lifetime has been spent by AdyŠ helping out with all tasks for her squad to function as an independent unit. Hence if there are chores to be performed whilst traveling, her companions will find a willing set of hands. She has put her mind and body into a hefty assortment of jobs over her life, with no fears about studying new ones. Although she may initially have a seemingly endless repertoire of questions, the nomad learns swiftly and appears to have a flawless recollection, in regards to menial endeavors. One should never underestimate the maiden, as once she is set on an undertaking, the nomad will see it thru till the end.

As she has been around a fair mixture of races in her short life, the nomad holds very little prejudice towards most. Orcs cause revulsion in her upon first meeting one, but that is purely on the physical level. Presently she has only met a few Hobbits and Dwarves and finds them to be adorable diminutive creatures. The lofty nature of the Dwarves is somewhat perplexing for AdyŠ and her inquisitive nature has not helped befriend any of them. Sarvonian elves have been elusive for the Kassite and will most likely be approached as she would their Nybelmar counterparts, mainly with reverence and respect, in exclusion of any unfriendly deeds that may come of it.

Her lifetime of being part of an extended fighting force has granted the nomad some unique personality quirks. For instance, she would cast her own safety to the wind if such would defend the lives of those she calls friends. ĎThe needs of the many outweigh the needs of the fewí. AdyŠ habitually follows the commands of those she envisions as the leader of small bands she travels with. If the maiden has not elevated anyone to this tier, she will generally raise her brother Rhath to this position. He is after-all the highest ranked surviving member of the Kassiteís squad.

The single way to find a cold shoulder from the Kassite, is an inquiry to whom she was speaking when conversing with her fallen friends. Most investigations on this subject will bring a hasty change of topic from the nomad. If someone were to press the matter, they will find a tart wall of resistance with a continued attempt by AdyŠ to change the focus of the conversation. Still if a person would endeavor to push her, they might drive her to tears as she mentally refuses to openly admit the death of her squad, especially to herself. None have ever pressed her this far, yet it could quite possibly shove her into a mental breakdown.

*_*Strengths*_*
::Horsemanship:: Like all of her tribe, AdyŠ has been in the saddle since she was four summers old. The maiden has taken to equines at an exceptional level. In her youth she won many contests in horsemanship and is considered one of the finest in her family. There is very little the nomad could not accomplish while riding. In fun she enjoys standing on the saddle whilst racing across the steppes. She could also ride with enough expertise to gather up a small child, from the ground, while in a full gallop.

The Kassite has spent the majority of her life around these animals and to say she knows a bit about them would be an understatement. Riders such as AdyŠ are the reason that legends abound about her tribe, a tier above most any other would be horseman. A cursory inspection from the maiden, of any breed, would relay a vast amount of knowledge regarding the beastsí attributes and relative health.

::Swordsmanship:: As a Kassite growing up around Kormendale, the nomad was frequently practicing martial combat with the other children of her family. The young lass rode and practiced weapons with seven other children, daily. The maiden learned many basics of swordplay, the ways to read an opponent by eye movements, posture and stance. As the close-knit group would discuss their daily lessons, each of them learned to coordinate their skills with exquisite precision and AdyŠ was no exception.

It would be a farce to say she is a great warrior on any level but her dual-wielding allows her an advantage over some. With mild practical experience, a well-trained knight or a seasoned orc warrior would eventually overcome AdyŠ. But against an unwitting opponent or city guard the lass could be surprisingly lethal with her pair of cavalry sabers. The nomad knows much, learns more each day and is slowly gaining a useful familiarity tempered in life or death struggles.

::Lance:: Another weapon the nomad has been trained with since the age of four is the lance and shield. Although AdyŠ has used this instrument from horseback for near two decades, she is not exceptional in itís utilization. She may be versed in itís use, but the Kassite would most likely lose against a well-trained warrior, such as a knight, in combat with a similar utensil of war. Still against footmen the extensive range of this weapon does usually place the maiden at a distinct advantage.

::Composite Bow:: Around the fifth year of her life the Kassite was taught to use the composite bow from horseback. As this weapon is continually used for defense and on the hunt for food, she is moderately better with it than she is the lance. With her ability to strike a man sized target at around fifty ped while in full gallop, it is rare for venison to escape AdyŠ on the open steppes. With the variety of terrain she has found herself in, since arriving on Sarvonia, this skill has been hampered somewhat in recent times. Yet on open ground, few could say that the young maidenís accuracy is sub-par.

::Piece-Mail:: The nomad has acquired a variety of protective pieces over the course of her warrior career. These span a complete range from banded-mail to simplistic leather. This outfit, although defensive, is fashioned as to endow AdyŠ with an enormous array of movement. Such a collection is not exceptional amongst her tribe, yet the metallic breastplate is a tier above most in the maidenís squad. She rarely travels without wearing at least a few pieces of this body armor.

::Semi-literate:: Although AdyŠ can read and write she is far from a scholarly level. When the Kassite endeavors to read, even the most fundamental of texts, she must enunciate many of the syllables. It is not infrequent for her to struggle so much that she simply skips key words that she has never heard. When writing the nomad is forced to spell words as they sound, add to this her poor handwriting and much of what she jots down would be difficult to decipher.

*_*Weaknesses*_*
::Wounded Knee:: A minor accident as a young child dislocated the Kassiteís left knee, leaving her bedridden for nigh a month. As the swelling slowly began to subside it was evident what she had done and her father hastily pressed the misaligned appendage back into place. Oddly enough the bone continues to pop out of place at random times, yet AdyŠ has learned how to reset it with an audible snap. The young maiden has even learned how to displace it with the same perceptible results. Her frequent exhibition of this nifty trick to all the local boys was a matter of great enjoyment, with hearty laughs and cringes of pain. Unbeknown to the nomad, this little show she habitually put on has weakened the joint even more than the initial injury.

::Binge-Drinker:: Although AdyŠ is not a habitual drinker she is indeed a slave to the spirits. Her merry making might be considered by most to be rare and even moderate. Still once she has imbibed a delectable sip of her favored drinks, the maiden will continue to consume until unconsciousness comes. Without fail she sets a limit for herself before lifting a glass only to awaken face down on a floor or outside, wondering how and when she got there. The Kassite realizes this serious problem and endeavors to steer clear of such actions, yet finds herself in the same position more often than not.

::Misguided:: With most of her life spent in a close family group and relying on others in the direst of circumstances the nomad is overly trusting. When traveling in small crowds, AdyŠ habitually grants others a high level of trust and can be quite open with a stranger she had just met the day previous. Frequently she treats the majority of people like long lost friends and welcomes them into her life with no qualms raised about their true motives. This has become increasingly perceptible since the loss of her family group.

::I See Dead People:: Since she lost the majority of her squad the Kassite frequently sees them, albeit she is the only one that sees them. It is common for her to speak to individuals from her band that are no longer alive. This happens more often when she is alone, but has increased in occurrence as time passes. Although AdyŠ rarely relies on them for everyday assistance, she has been caught laughing and joking with unseen associates. For those that do not know of her past and the things she has been through, these actions can be quite disheartening.

::Conundrum:: AdyŠ has spent the majority of her life in the endeavor to be like those around her. This commonly meant for her to look like them, dress like them and even keep her hair in the style of her squad. Since arriving in Sarvonia the Kassite has noticed that this stringent set of rules rarely applies to other societies. Only recently has she began to break a few of these traditions and allowed her hair to grow. She has also begun to ponder jewelry as a viable option.

Other women in these new-found lands are so very different from the way she was raised and the nomad endeavors to mimic them in subtle ways. Although this may let her fit in, within certain social situations, it has itís downsides as well. Since most people find mimicry to be a pitiable attribute in others.

::Wanderlust:: Adya cannot bear to not know where each and every path leads. Still such inquisitiveness has led her off course on more than one occasion, making it difficult for the nomad to find her direction. This wandering does not desist when she travels on long journeys and quite frequently brings her to the destination via the long way. This has delayed her arrival for up to a few days as she tries to straighten out her course from obscure areas.

*_*Fighting Style*_*
Two decades of scouting quarry in a variety of climes has determined what the Kassite knows of combat. Fleet and accurate bow fire is AdyŠís mainstay in either hunting or warfare. The use of a horse to keep a fair distance from most opponents permits the cavalry woman to keep many armored and unarmored foes undercover. Though her range with the composite bow is less than more advanced styles of bows, she is gaining precision. Even those that may escape her wrath are frequently pinned down during a confrontation. The rider was regularly used in this capacity within her squad and is quite good when paired with other more combative allies.

In closing distances AdyŠ reverts to her lance and shield, generally in a headlong charge, commonly relying on the weapons length to pull her through. She is not extensively trained in the weapons use, more accustomed in squad sized onslaughts to overpower foes. In single combat the Kassite will use the weapon in an endeavor to unhorse mounted opponents. Once they are on foot she will venture to strike such enemies by swiftly riding by and bringing the full force of the lance down upon them. If all else fails she will circle downed rivals, using the lance as a barrier whilst talking or waiting for allies to arrive.

Should AdyŠ shatter her lance or break a bowstring she will transition to the duo of cavalry sabers she bears. Moderately deadly with these weapons on foot, from horseback the maiden is a nightmare in the saddle with them. Able to strike from either side she could hold off a duo of foes from her perch and create murderous charges against grounded opponents. Although the maiden has trained with these blades since the age of five, she is still not on par with many others of her squad.

The Kassite has used these weapons from horseback since childhood and continues to this day. It should be noted that when unhorsed all of her weapon skills are a notch below those exhibited while in the saddle. On the ground she is a fair warrior with some skill but mounted AdyŠ is truly in her element and a somewhat daunting foe for her age. More accustomed to fighting in groups, the tactics of solitary combat are still being learned by the nomad.

*_*History*_*
In 1641 A.S. on the 21st day of Rising Sun, Adya was born unto a pair of honored Kassite warriors. Her mother, Sheya, had been delegated to the reserves on the family farm. Yet her father, Denzi, continued to travel the borderlands of their home with his squad, in defense of the tribe. Adya was raised tending the familyís farm and the vast array of animals they raised to sustain themselves. At the age of four she began horseback riding in earnest with intermittent bouts of weapon training. Always she was paired with seven other young children as each of them learned to coordinate their maneuvers.

At the age of seven the young maiden took a horrible fall from horseback which dislocated her left knee. It took nigh two weeks for the swelling to go down before her father saw what had happened. Hastily Denzi reset the appendage, although Adya continues to be plagued by this accident to this day. Initially she would pop the knee out of place with an audible snap for the enjoyment of others in her squad. She continues this show to this day for the enjoyment of would be friends. Little does she know how detrimental this act is for her.

Over the next decade the Kassite honed her skills amongst the seven other children she rode with. Adya exceeded the others in the field of horsemanship and her natural talent for understanding the beasts was easily noted. Although the warrior faired only decently with the combative skills being taught to her, she was not exceptionally poor in this regard. Led by her brother Rhath, the squad began to take their rightful place amongst the power structure of the warrior tribe. The young maiden was renowned for following orders to the letter, without question nor waver of conviction.

In her seventeenth year she was sent by her family to represent them in a competition of horsemanship. Adya was a dead ringer for the contest and she brought much honor to her brethren by placing first overall. The prize was a banded mail breastplate, colored to befit her squad. The Kassite wears the piece of armor with immense pride and very few within her age group could compare to the warrior in the art of horsemanship at this point. After the match she hurriedly returned to her homeland and once again set out with her squad to defend her people against any encroachment.

For the next seven years Adya became a valued aspect of her squad as a messenger and serene voice of reason. One evening she was set to guard duty whilst the others set out in revelry. The maiden had a few drinks before meandering off for guard duty. Upon the rising of the sun the Kassite wandered away from her post, vomiting out of control she ambled about in a haze. Vaguely she heard the screams of her comrades as she struggled to comprehend what was happening to her. Through force of will the warrioress rose to her feet and staggered towards the echoes of her squad being annihilated.

With the decimation of her squad, the Kassiteís life took a atrocious turn for the worst. Her evident bout of drinking was deemed the reason for her sickness and the failing of her duties. Summarily she was exiled for dereliction of duty and forced to leave the tribe in dishonor. Even this did not stop the horrific episodes of sickness she habitually had each morning. She gathered all of her worldly possessions and made her way slowly, towards the Anpagan city-states. No longer certain of her place in the world, she wandered without goal or reason for a few months.

Whether it was fate or luck only the gods could tell. Adya fell extremely sick after arriving in the seaside city of the Anpagans at last the reason for her illness came to light. The Kassite had a miscarriage, losing the child she was oblivious to having conceived. She had never shown outward signs of being pregnant and had lost the life she would have adored raising an offspring in. Luckily for her, the care of the physicians in Anpagan society helped her heal the physical wounds, yet the emotional ones were beyond even them.

Over the next few years Adya began to rent herself out as a bodyguard to merchants across land routes and sea voyages. Eventually she made a small name for herself as she carried out such duties with great conviction and honor. Yet her quirky nature of speaking to unseen friends frequently began to creep into her everyday life. This caused many to see the maiden as insane, although friendly. Still she rode tall with her honor like a corporeal shield worn upon her petite shoulders. Acceptance that the gods had dealt her a poor hand in life came hard, yet she never let such things sway her sense of nobility from its course.

At last the nomad was offered an extensive contract to protect a traveling merchant to Sarvonia. The trip was long and arduous, nearly a year in completion. Adya arrived in the city of Lorehaven and quickly set about finding work in this strange continent. So it is that she has wandered these newfound lands for the last year, working odd jobs to support herself. There are defined boundaries that hold the Kassite, as she has no place to return even if she desired to do so.

*_*Weapons*_*
::Cavalry Sabers:: A duo of cavalry sabers are poised, one on each hip, in sheaths wrapped in karikrimson hued leather.

::Composite Bow:: In a blackened quiver over her left shoulder the nomad carries a full score of finely crafted arrows.

::Lance:: The lance the nomad carries is approximately three peds in overall length and near a hafeb in weight. Just above the grip there is a vamplate, as to protect the Kassiteís hand in combat and to prevent slippage upon impact. The shaft is completely comprised of black birch, granting the weapon an extreme amount of durability. Upon the tip of the lance is a full palmspan of steel culminating into a razor sharp point. This utensil of war is only used from horseback and Adya rarely carries it upon her person without orders to do so.

*_*Belongings*_*
~ A full score of arrows carried in a quiver on her back.
~ A large backpack containing a waterskin and a weeks worth of dried rations.
~ A change of clothing that includes deerskin breeches, a teki red blouse with flowing cuffs and knee high, leather boots.
~ A wooden round shield reinforced with metal bands..
~ A trio of pouches filled with dried fruits, some bone dice and a dwindling sum of currency.
~ A packet of Tooth Cabbage.
~ A bar of Icemilk soap.
~ A composite bow (Described in the Appearance Section)
~ A pair of cavalry sabers (Described in the Appearance Section)
~ A random collection of Piece-Mail armor.
~ A black birch lance, usually stored on Edward.

*_*Animals*_*
::Name:: Edward (Affectionately called Mister Ed.)
::Gender:: Male
::Age:: 4 years
::Species:: Jerrahn Crested Horse
Edward stands at just under a ped and a half at the withers, denoting him as average height for a Jerrahn Crested horse. The beastsí body is covered in a ghostly grey pelt with no variants from the tip of his snout to the base of his rump. With a mane and socks of snowy white hue, he is a beautiful horse to behold. The bountiful muscles that ripple beneath his hide grant observers a hint of the vast endurance and power he possesses. Since he was a foal AdyŠ has pampered and trained him in every aspect of their life together.

The creature is of a calm temperament, taking little offense at being approached or handled by unknown individuals. Mundane things such as being shoed, physically inspected and washed are met with a systematic nonchalance by the horse. With his battle training from his mistress, Edward is also not an easy beast to spook. Well accustomed to screams, the clanging of weapons and full on charges against crowds, he would follow AdyŠís lead into all but the most horrific scenes.

AdyŠ has honed the finer characteristics of Edward and continues to do so to this very day. The horse is swift but not exceptionally so; he is strong but not amazing in his bulk and he is a creature of insurmountable endurance. In a short burst some horses might be capable of overcoming him, yet when it comes to distance with a stunning pace very few could match Ed.

That CD was a very, very rare exception. Let's try to justify your CD's merits using the CD and not compare with another.
Sadly this is not the case Azhira. In the last six months there have been three of them approved, but I digress.

After the approval of my character with these particular skill sets ... a week later a new player was told it isn't possible (Name withheld of commentor for obvious reasons.). What concerns me is not that such characters exist, it is the poor example it puts forth towards new players. If you look down the empty halls of this forum .... you must agree with me that such things are not what we wish. Newcomers don't see a person with years on the site, only that there is some double tiered system.

Although you probably do not care, I could also point you down other avenues that are practiced daily/weekly/monthly in this forum, that drive new players away. Some of which are exhibited with the best of intentions.

@Twen&Azzy: I'm trying to see the S&Ws through your eyes. It seems a bit overpowered the way you have written it Twen. If I am missing something, could you help me out? I want to learn from this for something I could do better next time.
Sylvia, Azhira and I may be seeing this matter in separate lights. That's why it takes a duo of approvals for a CD to reach a conclusion. Since my viewpoint matters far less than your fellow Moderators, I would suggest the CD-Moderator forum for this question/discussion.

Please PM me or Kalina specifics about these CDs and other issues so they can be discussed among the Mods and Admins.

Either way, it is standard practice that experienced members and posters are given a bit more leeway in the creation of CDs that are not allowed with newcomers. Most newcomers don't know how to write or play a character with dual magic/weapons skills. It is not a double tiered system, its just that some people want to come into the game not understanding the overpowering characters they create causes disruption in the game world. And we tell them that. They don't like to hear that it is best to create a level 3 mage to start, not an archmage who shoots lightning from his arse. So they go elsewhere. Its always been like that.

Anyway, this discussion is not relevant to your CD, so if you wish to discuss more, take it to PM, IRC or another thread in the General area.
