Physical Appearance:

Leofric is typical of his tribe, tall and muscular. He is considerably more muscular than the average Centoraurian. This is due to learning how to use a bow at a young age. Consequently, he is able to pull a longbow with ease. The other children used to be jealous of this fact and they were always trying to best him at archery. His hair is long and Eophran Brown, though most people mistake it for black as he mostly covers his head with a hood. His features therefore, are mostly hidden from view. His eyes seem deep and mysterious.  

Leofric has a scar on his right cheek, which can be seen from just below his eye socket diagonally towards his cheekbone. This occurred while he was escorting a merchant and his family from the town of Horth in the Xaramon province, to Jernais city in the Vardýnn Province when raiders ambushed them. He also has a scar on his back  this occured during a training accident, it was feared that the cut was deep, thankfully it wasn't that serious, though it did leave a long scar for which he would remember this accident by.

Leofric only walks when absolutley necessary usually in a town or when he is traking animals (or people for that matter). Whe he does walk, he normally guides his horse by holding its reins in one hand and his bow in the other. He stoops a little, only revealing his true height when he fighting or aiming his bow.  

Clothing:
Leofric wears a black leather blouse with short sleeves which ends in a short leather kilt whch comes to just below his knees and is attached to the curiass via a thick leather belt. Under the kilt he wears black leather trousers under the kilt to keep his legs warm while he rides this also slightly protects him against missiles. Over the top of his blouse he wears a leather currias with rings attached to either side (even though he doesn’t use them, he can attach items to the rings if he so wishes). To protect his arms he wears a pair of leather gauntlets, these act to protect his forearms. On his feet he wears, leather cavalry boots and short greaves to protect his shins. In addition to this, he wears a long, black, leather cloak with a hood, this is attached to the hsoulder straps of his curiass (normally he keeps the hood up).  

Personality:
Leofric is a dark and mysterious character. He keeps himself to himself and is mostly slient. He only talks to give information to his clients therefore, he doesn’t have many friends and even his closest friends don’t know much about him. He is cold and calculating when it comes to other people and, if one was to approach him, Leofric would studied them to see if they had a hidden aggenda or even to asses their appearence.

Even though he doesn’t have many friends Leofric is loyal to those friends he does have, and so he will do whatever it takes to protect them, he will also do his best to help them whenever he can.

Strengths and weaknesses:

Strengths

Amateur Healer
Leofric has a basic grasp of most medicines. Having been brought up in the wilderness it was nesscessary for him to be able to cure himself, or others,  if he was sick or injured. Though he can make basic remdies Leofric doesn’t have the knowledge of any complex cures and he can only treat minor injuries. If he was to be attacked and badly injured he lacks the knowledge to heal himself, so his cures are rather basic and temporary.

Expert Tracker
Living in the wilderness and half a lifetime of practice has meant that Leofric has become an expert in tracking almost anything.  He observes the ground looking for any signs of disturbance in the soil and what the prints are. He can distinguish between most animals and humans.

Ability to fight with a Longbow
Leofric’s strength has meant that he is able to pull the Longbow all the way back to maximise the speed and point of impact. He has become deadly with this weapon and is extreamly acurate.

Ability to fight with a Shortsword
Leofric can also fight with a shortsword if he absolutley has to, although he rlelys on his strength more than skill with this weapon. His movements with the weapon are somewhat sluggish, but he is still able to fight effectively with it.

Ability to ride a horse
As with all Centoraurians Leofric has a natural talent when riding horses. He can also look after a horse (eg, changing horse shoes ect..). The fact that Leofric has a horse is considered an added advantage of height, meaning he can see further ahead.

Weaknesses
Heavy smoker
Leofric is rather fond of his pipe, this means that he smokes rather more than the average smoker. He also spends a lot of his earnings on "feeding" this habit. As a consequence of this habit, he sometimes has coughing fits.

Suspicious of Foreigners
Unlike most Centoraurians Leofric is very suspicious of strangers, especially those not from centorauria. This means that he distrusts most strangers especially ones from other tribes or races.  

Low Stamina
Because he rides a horse, Leofric has a low stamina, therefore he is at a disadvantage if he has to run long distances.

Uncomfortable around people
Leofric finds it hard to talk people and gets rather uncomfortable around them. This means that he doesn't have many friends ad so is a bit of a loner.


History

Early years

Leofric was born in the year 1620 A.S in a small village on the Aurora plains. The village, was situated near the Phantom Eyes Forest, though none of the inhabitants ever ventured into the forest. This was due to the fact that they were very supersticious and dared not enter the forest incase they saw the red eyes of the invisible phantom.

Leofric’s father, Ceolwulf,  was a skilled hunter, tracker and healer, while his mother, Hild, was a well known horsebreeder. His father taught him everything he knew about tracking, hunting, archery and healing (although his father didn’t teach him a lot about heling). His mother taught him all she knew about horses; how to take care of them, how to ride and how to put knew horse shoes on them.

When he was deemed old enough, his father began to teach him how to pull a bow. Before he could learn however, he had to make his own, something his uncle had insited on (being the village bowyer). Leofric found a suitable piece and his uncle helped him to make his first bow. From that moment on Leofric’s father taught him how to shoot (at the age of 5).  As he contnued practicing, Leofric’s muscles began to develop as did his physical fitness. He far outmatched the other children in the village, who quickly became jealous of his ease with the bow. Leofric’s father used to take him out of the village, sometimes for days, to teach him how to track animals and people. On one occasion, he was even taught some of the rudamentary healing skills.

The sun was high in the sky when Leofric and his father went out hunting. They took two horses and filled their packs with as much provisions as they could carry. His father rode a large brown mare, while Leofric was on a small white pony. Leofric had been looking forward to this day for a long time and couldn’t wait to get going. They said good bye and set off through the gates. Leofric and his father rode out onto the plains where they tracked hare and wild horses.

Three days after their departure smoke could be seen rising above the village. The pair spurred their horses into a gallop, though they feared the worst. When they got closer their fears were confirmed. The village had been sacked, the gates had been smashed open and bodies could be seen inside. Leofric couldn’t believe his eyes, who would want to do this to his village? They hadn’t done anything wrong. Tears were streaming down his face as they both dissmounted and Ceolwulf embraced his son and together they wept for the dead. No one survived the massacre. Ever since that day Leofric had sworn revenge on those that murdered his entire village.

Wilderness

From then on Leofric and Ceolwulf lived in the wilderness. They built themselves a hut where they isolated themselves from the rest of the world. Leofric’s skill increased with each passing year. The years passed by and his father was old and weak. Leofric went out to hunt and when he came back his father was dead. He wept over his dead father as he buried him behind the snall hut. After this sad task was completed Leofric packed his bag with some provision, some spare quivers of arrows and went out of the foresst and came to the town of Horth. On his journey he saw a lonely horse grazing on the side of the path. He walked up to it, comforted it and looked around for any signs of other horses. He found none and so he thought it must have been abadonded. He named it Cælin and took it on his journey to the town, where he could hopefully find work. On his journey he also aquaired some leather armour and a black leather cape with a hood. He finally made it to the town and since then he has found work escorting merchants and tracking animals for people.

Weapons

Leofric has two weapons, a longbow which is unstrung when he doesn’t use it, this keeps the wood from breaking. He also carries a shortsword for protection at close range.

Possesions

In his pack Leofric carries the bassic nesscessities, like food and some herbs which he uses for basic medicines. He also carries a pipe and some pipe weed.

Appearence
Like all Centaurorian horses, Cælin is of average height and weight. He has a long slender neck and long legs. He has a small head and a long muzzle and a light black mane. His eyes are widley spaced and are black; he also has long black eye lashes and small dainty hooves.

Personality
Cælin is a shy horse and becomes quiet defensive around other horses, this is also true around other people as well. Due to him being abandoned by his previous masters.

 History
Leofric found him grazing by the side of pathway on one of his journeys he petted him before walking away and the horse followed him. Since then they have become inseperable and Cælin doesn't like to be left alone, due to his previous masters abandoning him beside a pathway.

Hi Leofric, and welcome to Santharia from me as well.

This looks like a good CD to me as well. Just a few issues that I can see.

Title - these are meant to be a unique way to identify our characters ... there could be a thousand and one 'Rangers' out there ... what sets you apart from them? Come up with some kind of descriptive word for it

Height and Weight - It is preferred that decimals aren't used in Height and Weight measurements. So, your height would need to be changed into peds, fores etc.

Strengths - Longbow and Sword skills need to be in as two separate strengths. Also, you need to include his horse as a Strength as well ... you can include that with his ability to ride strength, but the fact he has a horse gives him an advantage.

Weaknesses - Illiteracy isn't counted as a weakness because we compare our character to a peasant who can't read and probably can't count past 10. 5) We're going to need another one or two weaknesses, I think to get your character balanced.

Spelling - Amateur Healer not Amature Healer

History - I'll get back to this one for you.

Familiar - We need a bit more information on your horse ... almost like a mini CD on him ... basically

You don't really need to. Santharian colors are specific shades of color, they don't outright replace normal colors. Red is still red, black is still black, etc. A specific shade of red might be karikrimson, but not all. It's like all those color varieties in a Crayoloa crayon kit.

Both dark brown and eophran brown work equally fine in description.

The epidermis which merely the outside of the skin, is made up of several layers of cells. The dermis, which is just below the epidermis, serves to feed the dermis, and separates it from subcutaneous tissue or hypodermis, which is where hair follicles are anchored, it also stores fat. The hypodermis is where hibernating animals like bears store part of the fat they need to make it through the winter.

There is a reason it takes a pound of force to pierce human skin.

Remember rule three: If you don't know what you're talking about, keep yer mouth shut. I'm paraphrasing of course.

@drustai and altario when I was making my CD deklitch said I should use santharian colours and it says "please use santharian colours" in the character description guide.

I find it quite insulting when someone orders me to be quiet and says I don't know what I am talking about. First of all, you just said the epidermis is made of many LAYERS of cells.  Secondly, if it means layers in the other sense, that means it must have cut through both the epidermis and dermis, and you really shouldn't put an only in front of that.

Sorry for more clutter, but this is silly.

Thaelel is right. This debate about dermis vs epidermis was unnecessary. There was no need to turn his simple comment into a technical explanation and then an insult. Thaelel is not a newbie anymore and even I get mixed up with comments. No one is perfect and his comment was legitimate.

On colors, the CD Guide has a link to the Santharian colors next to the eye and hair color sections. That clearly implies that Santharian colors are to be used. Most CD comments about colors encourage using Santharian. I see Thaelel's point of view. If another CD Mod requested Santharian colors elsewhere in another CD, and the writer complied, then that creates a precedent that Thaelel was only trying to be consistent with.

Not sure that will be accepted as a weakness, since the common peasant hasn't any knowledge of complex cures either. However you could make it a limitation to his healing strength
