Human, Erpheronian

« on: December 24, 2011, 02:13:50 AM »

Name Liliana “Lily” Bedwyn
Age 27
Gender Female
Race Human
Tribe Erpheronian
Occupation Bard
Title Water Lily

--Physical Appearance--
Height 1 Ped, 1 Fore, 3 Palmspans
Weight 1 Pygge, 1 Hafeb, 2 Ods
Hair Aeruillin Red
Eyes Burnt Teki Red

Her blatantly red hair is of average length with a subtle wave to it. Rarely does she let it fall free but when she does, it frames her pale, oval face flawlessly. It’s her fathers’ hair, through she says so begrudgingly and while it’s not the only thing she inherited from her father, you’ll never hear it from her lips; lips that are full and lush with a somewhat peachy tint to them. Originally brown at birth, her eyes slowly began to take on a red hue as she grew older until the round, glassy orbs began to match her hair more and more. Thick fringes of eyelashes are a deep auburn, so dark they could almost pass for black. Her eyebrows are of the same coloring and arch gracefully but can twist and furrow expressively.

She is of average height and weight for a human woman but the curves of her body are veraciously feminine. Large and miraculously perky breasts are predominate, perhaps more so due to the fact that she displays them quite overtly. Her waist is tiny in comparison, with a flat stomach and only slightly defined abdominals. Nicely rounded hips lead down to trim thighs and soft, supply calves. Her posterior has always been too big for her liking, but its shape more than makes up for it. Small feet lead out to ten pert little toes and soft, velvety hands house ten nimble fingers.

--Clothing--
Her skirt is leather and dyed deep blue, the soft, buttery material clinging to her body like a second skin. It’s cut at a sharp angle, with the right side riding only a few short inches below her hip and the left side reaching her knee. A simply length of leather string is laced through the skirt at the base of her spine, the only thing keeping the article in place. The bodice is made of the same material and is sleeveless. It laces up the front before stopping just under her bosom, leaving the top open to expose a slightly less than modest amount of cleavage. Boots, made of stronger leather, are black and lace up to the bottom of her knees. Her hair is usually parted down the middle, with two loose buns tied high on either side of her head. They are held in place with blue silk ribbon, tied in bows with the loose ends hanging down to her neck, around which a single water-drop shaped aquamarine crystal, her reagent, hangs on a silver chain.

For a colder climate, a pair of formfitting black, leather trousers replaces the skirt. A cloak made of wolf pelts is nearly floor length and fastens at the base of her throat with a simple leather tie. Inside the cloak are two pockets that she usually keeps a pair of mittens in, but occasionally her furry friend Bernard will find his way inside of one. Thick wool socks barely fit within the tight confines of her boots and a headband, made of the same material, stretches around her head to cover her ears

--Personality--
As a child, Liliana was always getting herself into mischief. Full of curiosity, you could never keep her in one place for very long as she enjoyed scouring the city of Voldar for any and every adventure she could find. She took that childlike curiosity with her into adulthood, traveling almost constantly and learning as much as she could along the way. Generally optimistic and carefree, she doesn’t take things too seriously, preferring spontaneity and pleasure more so than planning and regulation. Boisterous, rambunctious and somewhat loud, she tends to always be the center of attention, whether she tries to or not.

Always one for extremes, when something does upset or frustrate her then everyone will know it. She has a temper that her father was always amazed and confused by. Her voice will always be heard, even by those who don’t want to hear it and woe to the recipient of her wrath. Extremely blunt, she will say exactly what is on her mind with no regard for the consequences, though she will apologize if she feels that she has gone too far in the heat of the moment. But even though her anger can be ignited quickly and burn ferociously, it can abate just as quickly, leaving behind the good-natured girl that was there before.

--Magic--
Liquidization
This spell can be used mainly for defense, liquidizing an attackers weapon until it is rendered harmless, flopping around limply like a dead animal. When she was a child, this was the spell she witnessed the magi using in his show, adding water ounia to daggers as they were thrown at him. They would bounce off his body and drop to the ground with an audible, wet smack. However, unbeknownst to the audience was the extra padding under his robe, insurance for when he couldn't gather enough ounia. While Liliana doesn’t do anything so daring with her ability, she has been known to turn a person’s chair into something not quite solid but not quite liquid, giggling to herself at the astonished look on their face when they wobble around, flailing their arms before slipping ungracefully to the ground.
Freeze
When using her reagent, the crystal that hangs around her neck, Liliana can turn liquid to ice, although in small quantities. Turning an bar patron's mug of ale into a solid block of ice as they go to drink it has been a favorite prank of hers for some time now. Also, a small amount of water when turned to ice, can become a rather nasty projectile.
Fog
Gathering water ounia from the surrounding area, Liliana can create a mild to dense fog, depending on the amount of ounia. She’ll use it while performing, lending an air of mystery to the show. It can also shroud an attacker in a cloak of fog so thick that you wouldn’t be able to see your hand if held in front of your face. A layer of condensation can also be applied to a surface, making it damp and slippery.
Harmony
She uses this spell a couple different ways, the first being to lull her audience into a calm and peaceful state of mind. This makes them comfortable in her presence and more inclined to drop their coin into her cup. Harmony can also be used against an attacker, abating their anger enough for her to attempt an escape or to cast a more harmful spell.
Muddled Mind
The caster uses this spell to change the flow and concentration of the targets mind, causing their thoughts to come and go in an unorganized rush like the rapids of a river. They lose their ability to focus on any one thought, causing confusion and perhaps frustration. When given a few moments of concentration, Liliana can stop an attacker dead in their tracks, forgetting what they were trying to accomplish all together.

--Strengths--
Music
She is more than proficient with her lute, her fingers working nimbly at it’s strings. Her voice is also quite pleasant, especially when accompanied with the music. The majority of her money is made as a bard, traveling from city to city and entertaining many crowds along side her faithful companion, Bernard.
Water Mage
She completed her fourth level at the Ximaxian School of Water Magic only one short year ago. The time at the academy was hard on Liliana, although she learned much, and now while she incorporates some of her magic into her bardic performances, it is also an adequate weapon.
Determined
Once she sets her mind to something, then failure is not an option. Her instructors at Ximax can attest to that, as all of her time was spent studying and practicing the art of water magic. Even though she wasn’t a natural, her determination drove her to become one of the best in her class.
Literate
Her mother, having been raised the daughter of a nobleman, made sure that her only child had all of the necessary tools to exceed in life. From a young age Liliana had a tutor that taught her flawless penmanship and the ability to read. Forever fidgeting and restless, she didn’t retain much else from her studies.
Feminine Wiles
While she hasn’t been known to solicit men with her charms, she will tempt and tease them with the alluring form of her body. Dancing along with her music and shooting provocative glances at her audience will generally loosen their hold on their coin. Though occasionally this will illicit unwanted attention from the more audacious onlookers, she will quickly put them in their place with a mild show of her magic abilities.

--Weaknesses--
Easily Frustrated
If something doesn’t go the way she wants it to then Liliana easily becomes overwhelmingly frustrated. For example, if a spell she was attempting to cast goes awry it takes sometime for her to calm down enough to concentrate on trying again. She has been known to stomp her feet and kick at the ground, not so much as a show of childishness but more so to relieve some of the tension.
Nyctophobia
A common fear for a child to have, Lilianas fear of the dark carried over with her into adulthood. Probably due to her fathers doting and always allowing a light to be on at night, she will panic and hyperventilate if left in the dark for any length of time.
Gambling
Liliana can’t help but be drawn to a game of dice or cards, or really any form of gambling. Her excitement is drawn from the uncertainty of chance. A good deal of her money is used on betting and while occasionally she will double or even triple her coin, more often than not she will barely break even or lose a good portion of her money.
Blunt
More often than not, the direct and sometimes callous remarks that she makes without thinking can perturb those that receive them. Generally, her intent isn’t to insult or demean but unfortunately sometimes it happens. On occasion she will unintentionally insult the wrong person and find herself in the midst of a brawl.

--History--
Birth
Aeralla had been the daughter of a lesser known lord who owned land just south of Voldar. Her fathers plan was for her to marry well and bring wealth or power, if not both, to the Hedwick family. Aeralla had every intention of fulfilling the destiny that her father had instilled in her, that is, until she met a rather dashing lieutenant by the name of Korim. His fiery red hair and equally fiery personality was too much for the young woman, barely more than a child, to resist. Korim fell for the gorgeous, raven haired girl the moment he clamped eyes on her. She was everything a man could ask for in a mate, from her beauty to her clever wit, and he was determined to have her. Although he pled most fervently to her father for her hand in marriage, Lord Hedwick refused the lieutenant over and over, quite adamant in his feelings that Korim was neither wealthy nor well-ranking enough to marry his daughter. However, the young couples love could not be quelled so easily.

On one particularly foggy night, Aeralla fled from her fathers’ estate to meet Korim at his small flat in Voldar. While they couldn’t consummate their love with marriage, they did so with their bodies. Night after night she would meet her lover in secret, giving her love and her body to him with reckless abandon, her father none-the-wiser. Only a few short months later the telltale signs of pregnancy began to show and it wasn’t long before her father realized her condition. “Shamed!”, he exclaimed loudly, his face bright red with rage. “Shamed by my daughter!”. Aeralla was physically thrown from her childhood home at the hands of her own father and it wasn’t until that moment that she realized how little he truly cared for her.

But Korim was a good man and very much in love with Aeralla. They married the very next day, and while he was by no means a wealthy man, he tried to provide for his young and very pregnant wife as best he could. Soon after, on a very cold winter night, Aeralla, covered in sweat and clenching her teeth, pushed out a tiny, screaming baby girl. Already, a soft layer of bright red hair covered the newborns head, though at that moment her face was just as red with indignation. She was furious at the upheaval from her warm, squishy home into this new world and she made sure that her parents knew it. “Liliana.”, Aeralla whispered to her husband who was standing at her bedside, tears of joy streaming down his cheeks. “We’ll name her Liliana.”

A very happy childhood
No man could be prouder of his child than Korim was of his spirited young daughter. He doted on the girl every chance he got, often scolded by his wife for his spoiling her. Korim fed her curiosity and ever growing imagination with fanciful tales and excursions to the Thaelon forest. On her tenth birthday her parents presented her with a lute and while there was little coin to spare, her father made sure that she had the best instructor in Voldar to teach her how to play. Liliana was a very determined student, practicing every free moment she had until there was little more that her instructor could teach her. Her parents marveled at her skill with the instrument and her quick grasp of the sheet music they provided for her. They soon found that, even at such a young age, her singing voice could rival those of older and even trained vocalists. Liliana soon found out how much she enjoyed her ability to captivate her audience with her music and began playing on the street in front of her house every chance she got.

One fateful morning, a troupe of traveling performers came through Voldar. There were fire eaters, gymnasts and knife jugglers but it was one man in particular that caught Lilianas’ interest. He wasn’t dressed like the others in their colorful and exotic clothing, instead he wore a long, blue robe and had a man throwing small daggers towards him. She stared in amazement when the daggers bounced of his chest, harmlessly falling to the ground. Without thinking, Liliana ran up to the man, tugging at his robe and staring up at him with the wide, curious eyes of a child. With a gentle smile he placed one of the daggers in her small hands. A moment later the dagger felt wet in her hands and uncharacteristically malleable. The performer explained to her that he was a mage, more specifically a water mage and before he knew it, he was bombarded with questions from the young girl. How did you do it? Where did you learn? Could anyone do it? A kind and patient man, he answered all of her questions, not knowing what an affect his answers had on her.

Immediately she ran home to her father who stood there, bewildered at his daughters pleading to be sent to “magic school”.  At first he was reluctant, not wanting his baby girl to be sent off so far away and with a heavy heart Korim denied his daughter what she wanted for the first time in her life. Lilana was furious and erupted into a fit of screaming and stomped around their home but her tantrum was to no avail, her father wouldn’t budge on the matter. She wouldn’t give up however, determined to convince her father to let her go and while it took nearly four years of begging, screaming and crying, Korim finally relented. The family traveled to Ximax together and enrolled Liliana in the Academy of Magic. It is here she would stay for several years, perfecting her element, water.

Water Lily
Her time spent at the academy was enlightening, if somewhat difficult. She wasn’t a natural at first, unlike her talent with the lute, but her determination saw her through. The majority of her time was spent at the Water Tower, perfecting her chosen element and impressing her instructors with her perseverance. It was here that her nickname “Water Lily” was coined. As a child, neither of her parents called her by the abbreviation of her name but her classmates at the academy, especially the boys, thought the shortened version was endearing, added her element to the name and the nickname quickly caught on until no one knew her by anything other than Water Lily. Even after leaving Ximax she chose to make Water Lily her performing name, while going by Lily at all other times. Occasionally she could be found at the House of Art and Music. Although she didn’t actually take any courses there, she enjoyed watching the students and sometimes she was invited to join in with the others.

The academy is where Liliana made the transformation from childhood to womanhood in a mental and physical… well, very physical way. As her mind developed, so did her body. She grew into her awkward, gangly limbs and as her waist began to taper, her hips grew wider and fuller. Almost overnight her flat chest transformed into the large, ample breasts she has today. It wasn’t long before she realized the affect this had on her male classmates and she enjoyed the attention they gave her. She learned how to display her figure to its full potential and just the right look to give in order to get what she wanted. This was just another skill that would aid her in life outside of the academy.

A life of performing
Unlike some of her classmates, Liliana didn’t use her magic for the sole purpose of combat, although if need be she could. Instead, she uses her abilities to aid in her performing, dazzling her audience into loosening their purse strings. She travels constantly, mainly in southern Sarvonia, playing her lute and singing to make a living. Almost immediately after leaving Ximax she came across a wounded thiefling monkey on the outskirts of the Dark Hills. She brought him to the Vale of the Brownies where the tiny, though kindhearted natives aided in healing the poor creature. Bernard, as she named him, developed not only a dependence on Liliana but also a strong loyalty to her. Endeared by the animal she decided to bring him along in her travels and soon discovered his tendency to join in on her performances, jumping around to her music. And so the pair became inseparable,  traveling from city to city and entertaining the masses everywhere they went.

--Familiars--
Name Bernard
Age 3
Gender Male
Species Thiefling Monkey
Hair Color Xazure
Eye Color Injohue
Length 2 Palmspans
Weight 1 Od, 8 Mut

Physical Appearance
Originally a bright Xazure blue, Bernards pelt has slowly begun to fade to a paler shade over the passed couple years. Lily had heard rumors that a Thieflings coat was dependent upon certain flowers from their native land but it had been hard to believe when she first heard it. Just barely 2 palmspans long, he fits nicely in the inside pocket of her wolf pelt coat, allowing his long, muscular tail to hang over the edge. All of his feet and his face are a shade so dark that you could call it black.

Personality
Ever the inquisitive little monkey, Bernard seems to always be getting himself into some kind of trouble. Usually he stays fairly close to Lily, especially in crowds but if something were to catch his eyes then off he goes to investigate. Stealing food is also a hobby of his and although he knows better than to take what doesn't belong to him, Lily can never bring herself to punish him. He is also a bit of a hypocrite, throwing something akin to a temper tantrum if a possession of his is taken away. But he loves Lily, helping her out with her spontaneous performances by dancing around her feet with a tin cup for the audience to drop their coin into.

Hi and welcome to Santharia, Lily.

Lovely CD you've started here, I especially love your use of a thiefling monkey as a familiar.

Gained my attention almost immediately, and I'm sure it'll also gain Alt's attention. :) heart

No other comments from me as yet ... just keep on going.

I've added a bit more. Comments as I'm creating the character really help me as I add more and flesh her out, so any advice or constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated!  :)

hi lily. first of, i love the way you write. :) if only i were so capable of writing my thoughts so expressively :)
anyway, after quickly reading it over once it seems to make sense, and work well together so far, obviously your missing, well i assume your still working on the history. This will help greatly in the construction of the character by those reading. :) so far so good though, i look forward to reading the history of your character.
Apart from that only thing i can think off mentioning is maybe consider her personality a bit more in strengths and weaknesses, i.e the bluntness you mentioned, is this a strength or a weakness? yours to decide, other than that you definitely described her as a very attractive, feminine character, is she aware of this? is this possibly a strength she uses to get that little extra coin through flirtation?

but yes, hope that little bit helps. :) looki forward to the rest, good job.

I just wanted to drop into say that this is a fantastic CD thus far. I am always extremely delighted to see a character whose traits, personality, etc. align so closely with his or her chosen tribe. Your character is wonderfully Erpheronian--you've definitely done your research!

I'll be happy to pop in when your magic is more fleshed out to give you any advice or guidance you need. Wonderful work so far!

Thanks for the tips Thortar, I've added feminine wiles to her strengths and bluntness to her weaknesses.

I've also filled in her Magic section and with this being my first mage, I'm sure that something has to be wrong.  Roll Eyes

Edit: I also wanted to make sure that it's acceptable to detail Magic more in her History rather than in the Magic section.

Humans are of the element water, but it would be very difficult to achieve the kind of liquidation you're looking for without actually adding a LOT of water ounia to the car'all (sphere III). It would also be hard to complete this effect without killing yourself! There is a certain balance between the elements that helps a car'all maintain the life it 'carries'. You can do a lot of shifting and stretching, but there's a minimum influence you need from each element to keep yourself alive.

This doesn't mean that you have to give it up completely. You and increase the liquidity in weapons (with enough time). So if you're hiding somewhere and a bandit is after you, and you have the ability to take a few moments to cast and concentrate, you can make his sword droppy. When he finds you and tries to stab you, it'll be like trying to stab with a flaccid fish.

Contrary to popular belief, freezing is not an attribute of water; only coldness. Water in it's "natural" state is not solid. So it may come as no surprise that the ability to "freeze" things is actually in the realm of earth. This includes slowing motion. If you have the proper reagents, you may be able to create a kind of freezing--namely something that helps bind earth and water ounia, such that increasing one helps also increase the influence of another.

I was afraid 'Lunatic Fever' might spread. Technically, it doesn't really work in the realm of water. This is something I will try to emend...

Wow, then the descriptions of these spells are VERY misleading...

a) Liquidization
This spell causes the body to begin to flow and shift with the makeup of a lake or ocean. The being at first retrains the form of its original shape, but can bend and shift to any liquid form, and is immune to most physical attacks.

b) Freeze
This spell takes Liquidization one step further, by focussing and stressing upon the ice properties of the Water Element, and hence freezes the target into a solid, yet brittle form.

c) Ice Touch
By increasing the ice property of Water at any location he/she sets his hand upon, a mage can deal a mild chill to a lethal heart-stopping blast of frost to the target.

Alright, the history is finished and any more information on the magic section would be greatly appreciated. For now, I'm changing the icon to "comments welcome".

Edit: Also, am I limited to the spells listed in the section on the main site or can I make up some of my own instead? Do I need approval on the dev site to do that or can a moderator approve them?

The best way to go about new spells would be to develop them over on the development boards and get them up on the site, however there might be possibilities to be a bit more lenient here on the RP boards about using spells not currently on the site. However, if you want to do that it's probably best to talk it over with more magic-minded mods than myself, because I can't decide on how lenient we can or cannot be :)

Magic is in shambled. I apologize. The site says there are xeua spells, which there aren't. Many of the spells are wrong. Lightning does not fall in the category of wind. Even the Xeua entry (which I wrote) is utterly incorrect.

You do not need to go to the Dev board. You can make up your own spells. If you tell me what you want to do, I help you come up with a magical explanation, and even assist you if you want to make them spells on Dev side. Again, I apologize. Unfortunately Artimidor won't let me take all those spells down...

Alright, as of now I am finished. Although I'd really love it if someone would give me other possibilities for physical water spells.

But, other than that, comments welcome!

Freeze:
Keep the area small (a glass of water--or any other liquid) and cast with a reagent and you can add Freeze to the list. The reagent--like a aquamarine stone--can link water and earth for you so that as you increase the influence of cold (water), you also increase the influence of solidity (earth). Might be nice for playing tricks on bar patrons, or for creating a solid projectile.

Negative Image:
I can't quite understand what this spell is or how it related to the water school. Creating lights is fore akin to fire...

Muddle Mind:
Just a note that this effect it a reduction of water influence, not an increase of it. Just something to keep in mind!

Based on your spells, both number and effects, I would like to bump you up to level four at least. Would you be able to accommodate an increase in level?
