Name: Sarena Stormbringer

Gender: Female

Age: 35 (looks to be about 25)

Race: Half Elf

Tribe: Centaurian on father’s side, Ylfferhim on mother’s side

Eyes: Baveras’ eye

Hair: Urmarillion

Height: 1 ped, 1 fore and a couple of palmspans

Title: Laughing Flower

Occupation: Jester

Picture:

Appearance: Sarena’s appearance tells of her mixed heritage. Her baveras’ eye coloured eyes are a mixture of her mother’s green eyes and her father’s blue ones. Her hair is urmarillion coloured; mostly injohue with many streaks of cinnabrown scattered throughout.  Her ears tell of her heritage perhaps more then anything, with then being slightly pointed, yet not as much as a full-blooded Elf’s.

Her body has supple curves that she accents with her jester outfit. For everyday wear, however, she wears simple clothing that only gives hints of what lies underneath. She prefers to keep her body lightly toned so if she ever has the need for acrobats like she once had when she was younger. The only distinguishing mark, a blemish most would say, upon her body is two black butterflies tattooed on the inside of each of her wrists. She received these when she was very young, but learned early in her travels that outside of the band, they are considered a mark of hate, so she does well to cover them.

When performing her act, Sarena wears a jester’s outfit that a Butterfly Rover made especially for her. There are only two colours in it, yet it makes a striking statement when seen. On her head she wears, what she calls, a jesters hat. There are three different points on it, two on the side and one on the back. With those, there are two “points” that go down the side of her face that have small bells attached to the ends. The left side of the hat is black, while the right side is white. Her outfit is a bit more complex, yet with the same colours.

The top of Sarena’s outfit is a shirt that has no sleeves. It instead has a piece of fabric around her neck from which the rest of the shirt in the front attaches to. It has a bare back from the neck down to the middle of Sarena’s back, showing off her pale skin. Since it has no sleeves, it also shows her bare shoulders. The colours on her top are reversed, the left being white while the right is black. This pattern also goes for the elbow-long sleeves which she wears to cover the mark of the Rovers tattooed on the inside of both her wrists.

The leggings are also skin tight and they go down to her ankles. The colour pattern for them are the same as her hat; white on the left and black on the right. On her feet, she wears simple black boots. When asked about why she doesn’t wear a white boot to complete the outfit, she merely laughs and shakes her head causing the bells to jingle slightly. ”Because, silly, after just a night of wearing, it would become as black as the other.”

When she’s not performing, Sarena dresses in a simple sou’cald blue dress which falls to her ankles. It has long sleeves that fit just over her wrists. The neckline dips down a bit, showing just the slightest bit of cleavage. At the hem, the neckline and the wrists, a gold lining can be seen. Sarena also wears a gold necklace with a medallion around her neck. The medallion is a circle with a blue glitra depicted.

Personality: Sarena in general has a very bubbly personality. She enjoys being around people and she enjoys making them laugh. Very rarely does she get angry, yet if someone hurts one that she loves, then may the gods protect them. Her feelings are very easy to hurt, but if a stranger is the one that hurt them, she does her best not to show them. On most occasions, she waits till she is alone with her brother to break down.

Since traveling for a bit with her brother, she has shown a somber side to her, especially when they come across people less fortunate then themselves. She has been known to give free shows to them, as well as give some of her profits away. Another trait that she's picked up on is the ability, and enjoyment, of annoying her younger brother to no end. Yet, she knows when enough is enough and quits at that point.

Strengths:

--Considers herself a successful jester and a decent acrobat. This helps to bring in money when needed.

--Is very friendly. She loves making new friends, although she doesn’t let anyone too close right off the bat.

--Is decent with throwing daggers. This is a skill an older man taught her when she was still with the Rovers. She’s pretty good at them because she has very skilled eyes.

--Very agile and limber. When she was younger and wanting to become an acrobat or a dancer like her mother, Sarena trained hard to become limber. Even though she has become a jester, she has tried to keep as limber.

Weaknesses:

--Feelings are easily hurt. If someone mocks her or says something about her performance, and it’s not done in jest, Sarena’s feelings can get crushed easily. If it’s a stranger, she’ll brush it off till later, but if it’s a friend or her brother, she’ll grow quiet and become strangely withdrawn.

--She is very trusting towards other people. Because of this, one could easily take advantage of her, if they can catch her away from the always seeing eye of her brother. Thus, she is very dependent upon her younger brother for certain things.

--Can be overly friendly. This has gotten her into several compromising situations in which some men wanted to become even more friendly then she would have liked to be.

--Puts herself in compromising situations. Sometimes, after her shows, Sarena enjoys having a drink or two with the audience, which is mostly made up of men. Because of this, she can become drunk which, when that does happen, she gets a little more frisky, much to her brother's chagrin.

History:

She had run away from her family when she was very young; ran away to the Black Butterfly Rovers who had traveled nearby. She was a beautiful young Ylfferhim Elf who possessed a natural beauty as well as a natural talent of dancing. Her name was Eyá.

Upon joining the Rovers, Eyá received the black butterfly tattoo upon her stomach, around her belly button. She also decided to get tattoos on either side of her green eyes that curved upwards, giving her eyes an exotic look. After completing these tasks, she addressed the Band, saying that she wished to become a dancer. The ones who taught the dancers agreed that she would be perfect, and so her training began.

Eyá was only 26 years old when she joined the Rovers, so she had plenty of energy for becoming a dancer. By the time she was 84 years old, she was a renowned dancer among her Band, as well as at the various cities that they frequently visited.

She was elevated to lead dancer, and, as such, she was often the object that men of the cities, as well the Band, often desired for. One thing that set her apart from the other dancers was her refusal for wearing the heavy jewelry that was typical of the Rover dancers. She wore a few golden bracelets, but the main piece of jewelry was her medallion necklace. It was given to her parents a few years before she joined the Rovers. It was a golden circle that had a blue glitra in the middle.

Ever since she was elected to be the lead dancer, Eyá chose to wear more revealing clothes then the other dancers, perhaps to set herself apart, although some said it was to entice the men to pay more attention to her. She wore a simple shirt that covered her full breasts and had small straps. It wasn’t very long and only went halfway down her torso. Her arms she left bare as she did her mid section. She wore a long skirt, but it had a large slit running down both sides, as to give her more room when dancing. Around the top part of the skirt were sewn small metals circles that jingled together when she danced and even walked. Often, she would decorate her body with jewels, saying that she preferred those over the heavy jewelry.

One night, as she was practicing her dance around the campfire, she saw a young man enter their encampment. He was breathing heavily, as if he had run the whole way from the city that they were just at. At a glance, she knew that he wasn’t one of them, yet something drew her to him. There were a few people still awake after that night’s performance’s but they were busy with other tasks.

Eyá stooped and filled a small bowl with water from the water skin that she had nearby. Walking over to the man, who was now leaning upon a tree, looking confused, Eyá’s hips swayed back and forth gently, causing the metal discs on her skirt to jingle softly.

”Here, drink this,” she said softly, holding the bowl towards him.

He looked up in surprise. Instantly, his eyes widened and his jaw dropped slightly. He had seen the performance that night and had been stricken with the beauty of the dancers, but he never thought that the most beautiful of them all would be standing in front of him. With the fire behind her, and the moonlight glinting off of her golden hair, she looked like some goddess of old.

”Th-thank you,” he stuttered slightly as he looked up at her. He eagerly began to drink the water from the bowl.

Eyá gave a smile as she sauntered up next to him. ”You know...since we’ll be traveling together, I think we ought to get to know each other a bit more.” The young man almost choked on his drink. Eyá smiled. ”Don’t drink it so fast, or else you’ll choke to death. Come, let’s sit by the fire and talk.” She gently grabbed a hold of one of his arms and led him to the spot where she was.

Eyá sat down in such a way that her milky white legs could be seen perfectly through the slit on her skirt. The young man gave a gulp as he saw her sitting there on the ground. He shakily sat next to her. He had to fight against his loins from seeing her low cut outfit as she leaned over to stroke the fire.

”First of all, what’s your name?” Eyá asked as she turned to him. Now she could see the young man clearly. She instantly fell for his bright uderza eyes. She gently twirled a strand of her own hair as she noted his dark adlemirene hair.

”My name is Hirgrother Stormbringer,” he said. He looked down at the empty bowl.

Eyá gently took the bowl away from him. She grabbed a bottle of wine that was next to her and filled the bowl. She held it out for Hirgrother. ”Well, Hirgrother Stormbringer, my name is Eyá. I don’t bother with a surname any more since I joined the Rovers when I was very young. Which brings me to my next question...why do you want to join the Rovers?” As she awaited his answer she poured herself a bowl full of wine and sipped at it, looking at the young man.

”As I said before, my name is Hirgrother Stormbringer. I am the son of a wealthy plantation owner. I have never really known want my entire life. My father made sure of that,” Hirgrother said. He paused as he took a sip of wine. It was not the best he had ever had, but it was good nonetheless. ”My mother died when I was very young and I have no other siblings. As of late, my father has been pushing for me to take more responsibilities on the plantation. Well...I don’t think I’m ready to do that. He wants me to get married and settle down, but...” His voice drifted off as he took another large gulp of wine.

”You have wanderlust,” Eyá said simply.

”Wanderlust?” Hirgrother asked, looking at her as she took another sip of wine.

”Yes, wanderlust. It’s when one doesn’t want to settle down; when one wants to travel and have a carefree life. We have lots of those type of people join the Rovers. I’ve seen them come and go.” She leaned in a bit closer to him, her green eyes glittering. ”In fact, I find myself drawn to those type of people...”

Hirgrother thanked the gods that it was dark so that she couldn’t see him blushing, nor could she see what she was doing to him. He hastily took another large drink of wine as she drew nearer; so near that he could feel her warm breath against his neck.

Eyá gave a small smile as she felt him tense up as she drew near. She wondered if he had any experience with women. Yet, she felt something strange. Not only was she attracted to him physically, but she thought that she was falling for him in a different sense that she wasn’t use to.

That night, and many nights after, Eyá and Hirgrother sat around the campfire talking. Sometimes, he would watch her as she went over her dance moves. She even dedicated a dance to him. After he was formally accepted into the Rovers, getting a small tattoo on his lower right hip, both he and Eyá declared their love for each other. Eyá understood that he still had wanderlust and wasn’t ready to settle down. Yet, the night after he received his tattoo, Eyá bedded with Hirgrother.

This went on for several months. They traveled everywhere with the Rovers. Everything seemed to going well. Eyá even thought that Hirgrother was getting over his wanderlust. Yet, the fateful day came.

”Hirgrother, love, I’m with child.” That simple phrase made Hirgrother pause for a moment as he was tiding around their wagon.

”Are you sure?”

”I’m positive. I went to the healers today to confirm my suspicions.” She gave a smile. ”We’re going to have a family.”

Hirgrother stood there for a moment, not saying a word. He clenched and unclenched his fists slightly. His voice was soft and low when he finally spoke. ”I don’t think I’m ready for that.”

”I’m sure you’ll be fine. You’ll make a great father,” Eyá said with a small laugh. She got up and walked over behind Hirgrother. Wrapping her arms around his waist she stopped when she felt his body tense. ”Hirgrother, what’s wrong?”

”I told you, I don’t think I’m ready.” Even his voice was tense.

”Hirgrother...” She backed away, letting go of his waist. ”You can’t be serious.”

Hirgrother turned to look at her. There was a sternness in his eyes that scared her slightly. ”I’m sorry.” Without another word, he walked out of the wagon.

Eyá’s heart was broken. She gave this man her love, her body, and now she was going to give him a child and he turned against her. The day that he left the Rovers, Eyá was in her wagon, crying. She looked out of her window to look at Hirgrother one last time as he walked away from the encampment.

The months went on. For awhile, Eyá continued to dance, but then it came to the point where she could no longer. Instead, she watched the dancers and helped to instruct the newer ones. Not a day passed where she didn’t think of Hirgrother but her duties to the Band allowed her to slowly release the love she once had for him as well as the hurt that he did to her.

The time finally came for her to give birth to her child. It took nearly a day for the child to come forth, and in the process, Eyá lost a lot of blood. The healers were able to help her, though, and both she and the child survived. Eyá named the child Sarena. Yet, even with the healer’s help, Eyá was always weak after the delivery. Never again was she able to dance like she once could.

After Hirgrother left her, the rest of the Rovers jumped in to help Eyá raise the child. From a very early age, they discovered that she had the natural talent to make those around her laugh. She also, as one man noticed, had a sharp eye. Her mother wanted her to become a dancer, but the young Sarena wanted to entertain people more then showing off her body. She chose to be a jester of sorts and soon fell in with the acrobats. Eyá didn’t argue.

As the years went on, Sarena became well known in the Rovers as one of the funniest people to appear. Eyá often called her child the “Laughing Flower”, saying, ”You are as beautiful as a flower and you make everyone around you laugh.” When she was 8 years old, she received her two black butterfly tattoos. She wanted them on the inside of her wrists, saying that putting them there would help her concentrate on her performances.

When Sarena turned 16 years old, Eyá’s health began to get worse. Ever since she had Sarena, she had been weak. Now, she had gotten worse. Her skin was paler then usual and the gleam in her eyes was fading. Before she left this world, she gave Sarena her necklace with her blessings for the future. Sarena will always wear this necklace, except when performing hard acrobatic routines.

Several years later, as she was performing in one town, she noticed a young man staring at her intently. The fact that the young man was staring at her didn’t bother her, for many men stared at her, but the way that he was staring at her was slightly unsettling. She brushed it off and didn’t think much about it.

After her performance was over, she hung out a bit at the tavern and had a few drinks with some of the men. She had learned from her mother that when you get the men happy and drunk, they are more free with their money.

Giving a small smile, she walked out of the town, her pouch jingling with her earnings of that night. She walked back toward the encampment where the Rovers were set up. Her ears pricked slightly as she reached her wagon. Turning, she saw the young man from the show. She gave a sly smile as she turned so that she was facing him.

”Is there something I can help you with?” she asked, tilting her head so that her bells jingled slightly.

The young man had a hair full of blonde hair and deep brown eyes. He laid down the bow that was strung across his back and also set his quiver full of arrows upon the ground. ”I mean you no harm, ma’am,” he said. ”I came merely to ask a question of you. My name is Blaise Stormbringer, son of Hirgrother Stormbringer. My father is a wealthy plantation owner, and he lies upon his death bed. I was asked by him to go to the Butterfly Rovers and seek an Elven woman and her child.”

Sarena gave a small gasp at the name of ‘Stormbringer’. Her mother had given the surname of her father, so that she would always remember it if she ever came across her father. Quickly, she recovered and responded to the young man. ”There are several Elven women among the Rovers, and many of those have children. Does this woman have a name?”

”Yes,” Blaise replied. ”My father said that the Elf woman’s name was Eyá. He did not know the child’s name.”

”And why does your father wish for you to seek these two out?” Sarena asked, her eyes blazing slightly in the firelight.

Taken aback slightly, Blaise held his hands up as if to try to soothe the flashing eyes of the young half-Elf. ”He merely asked for me to find them and give them this…” From his coat, he pulled out a letter that was sealed with the seal of the Stormbringer family. ”I do not know the contents of the letter, but from what I could understand from my father, he feels as though he has done a great wrong against the woman and her child.” He paused for a moment, giving Sarena time to digest that. ”You seem to know quite a bit about Eyá, do you know where she is?”

Sarena calmed down a bit and turned her head, a tear rolling down her cheek. “Aye…I do…”

EzCode Parsing Error:]”Thank the gods!”[ Blaise said in relief. ”If you could be so kind, fair maiden, as to direct me as to where I may find her?”

There was a short pause as Sarena stared at the fire. She drew a deep breath and said, ”She died…several years ago. After she gave birth to her first and only daughter, her health was greatly reduced, and the stress of traveling finally caused her death.” She turned once again towards Blaise, her eyes flashing again. ”It is apparent that your father never told you how he wronged Eyá…well I shall tell you. He and Eyá were lovers at one point in time. Yes, he even joined the Rovers because of her. Yet, the very day that he found that she was with child, he left her and the Rovers. My mother had to raise me without a father because of that! Yet, even though he left her, my mother still loved him. Her last word was ‘Hirgrother’.”

Blaise stood still for a moment in shock. He had found Eyá’s child. She was the one who had been answering his questions all this time. He held the letter out once again. ”Then this goes to you,” he said gently.

Sarena looked at him for a bit before taking the letter. She gently broke the seal and read the letter. What she read jolted her.

”If I may be so bold, what does it say?”

Sarena looked up. ”It is a request for my mother and I to go see your father…”

It was an akward journey back to the Stormbringer plantation. Few words were shared between the half-siblings. As soon as they reached the plantation, Sarena and Blaise were taken to see their father. He laid his eyes upon Sarena and passed away.

Sarena was invited to stay, and she did. She learned as much as she could about her father, both before and after he met her mother. She often entertained the members of the household with her performances. During this time, she and Blaise grew very close together. Sarena drew Blaise out of his shell. He had grown up with no other siblings and having a sister, even if she was only his half-sister, made him very happy.

One day, after being there for a few years, Sarena announced that she would be leaving. When questioned as to why, she replied, ”I have to keep moving. I guess I have a case of wanderlust.”

Blaise worried about her out in the world and asked if he could come along as well. She agreed, and secretly thought that it would be a good thing for him to see the rest of the world before he settled down to take care of the plantations.

To this day, one will rarely see Sarena without her half-brother Blaise next to her. She does entertainment, no necessarily for the money, since Hirgrother left Blaise the entire estate, but because she enjoys making people laugh.

Tomorrow I will have a look at your CD!

"For me there is only the traveling on paths that have heart, on any path  that may have heart. There I travel, and the only worthwhile challenge is to traverse its full length. And there I travel looking, looking, breathlessly. ~Don

”I told you, I don’t think I’m ready.” His voice was even tense. I suggest rewriting it Even his voice was tense.

Companions: Her half-brother, Blaise Stormbringer

Belongings:
--Her normal outfit
--her jester’s outfit
--A small pouch that she wears around her waist
--A few small throwing knives
--Mother’s necklace

Looks good. Very detailed and interesting. I nitpicked at some spelling errors.
I have one question: Is having a fully sentient companion allowed? That may have been allowed since I was last here, but it seems a char. profile would be in order (I could be very wrong, but I think it may be a little edgy having a half brother as a companion).

Thanks for looking it over, Morc. And I don't know about the companions thing, but her half-brother is being created by another person. He's just not done yet. :)

Apart from some spellingerrors and weird sentences (which Morc found already) I couldn't find much.
(apart from that a minimod should know, that the occupation, not the title should be part of the heading ;)  )

We have surely jesters in Santharia, but the outfit will surely differ from what is now seen as common here. So just describe her outfit as her own, not that it is common for other people as well (you did it already mostly, just the „jester‘s hat“ irritated me a bit.)

So much appearance and such a small paragraph of personality? I think it would be good for your roleplay to deepen that aspect a bit (I‘m just asking for it for I know you can do it ;)   )

„--Even though she is agile and limber, Sarena is not very strong. She is just below average. Because of this, she can’t lift heavy objects, nor can she throw her daggers very far."

I think this is just ot possible. I know, it is very widely used (agile fighter, but physically weak) . I think that just doesn‘t work. an acrobat is no muscle bully, but due to the daily use of the muscles he is strong. Believe me, a good friend of mine is/was a trapeze artist. I think so far you are not too imbalanced, if you leave this out.

Not much to notpick here. As I said, I would expand a bit on personality and a bit on weakness. Not really a new one, but elaborating the ones you have (that ignorant part, maybe that she is not naive, but too trusing in a way..)

Apart from that and if I haven't missed something, you have your first approval. :)

Hiya Sarena! I have given your CD an entire read over, very wonderfully done. Though I agree with Talia in some aspects of the S&W wording, I myself would like to see them tweaked a bit in regards to Talia's suggestions. Once you are done let me know, if all things are worded a bit more clearly, you have your 2ND approval.
