Hi. I'd like to introduce myself and get to know the community which seems very sympathetic to me so far.

I'm your average 23 years old cultural anthropology student, in love with music and literature. Currently I'm also a chief editor of an independent Christian magazine here in Czech Republic and do a weekly broadcast on the radio about connections between spirituality, current events and so on. Now it almost looks like I'm a religious fanatic which I'm not.

The character of Emrah is result of an archetype I have liked to RP quite regularly, since I was an early teenager playing D&D with my friends in park - a rogue that is charismatic and weird at the same time, a criminal who is basically a good person inside. I remember my first influence that long time ago was a portrait of Eldoth Kron in Baldur's Gate (don't ask me why precisely) and then I was dissapointed when I actually met him in the game and realised that he was an utterly bad guy.  :)

So, this could be it. For now.

Dobry den, Emrah :)

I won't go on in Czech, for the sake of everyone else, but if we ever meet in the chatroom do knock on my door and I'll see how much of the language I remember :)

So, welcome to Santharia! I hope you'll enjoy things here as much as I do :)

Thank you, both!

And Irid, from where do you know Czech?  :)

Welcome to the boards, Emrah! I hope you enjoy yourself here. You'll find quite an international community here, with people from all over the world, so I hope you'll feel right at home!  :) If you ever need anything or have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Did someone just say music? What kind of music? :O

I'm sorry, I'm a bit of a music buff. But let's push that aside for a moment and have a "Welcome to Santharia!" from me to you :D  I'm sure you'll love it here :)

Congratulations for your quick titling and approval (/goes to make a note for that to go to next month's issu- /shot) I look forward to seeing you around the site and RPing with you sometime :)

Cheers,
Ty Ridgen

Thanks a lot, Rayne and Ridgen.

Well, many kinds of music as long as it's 'weird' enough. I mean, interesting/original/whatever. Anything from hip-hop and folk to progressive black metal when there's invention. Avant-garde rock is perhaps my favourite genre, though.

That, my friend, is not 'weird' music, it's... music :D I myself love listening to a variety of genres (although I tend to shy away from classical) but Electronica, Acoustic/Rock (or just plain rock) and Symphonic are always up there at the top. I think I have more than a few great songs lying about and I'd love to show you some if you're interested...

/rolls back to the topic and out the door before I begin to ramble

So yeah, it's great to see another music person in here :D

Hey Emrah,

Glad you got titled so fast; if you want to get straight into a story, go for it, and if you want to get involved in the general community, there's the 55 Words Writing Contest or, dare I say, my own little baby the Poets' Corner if you're feeling lyrically inclined.

Great to have you with us; I look forward to perhaps RPing with you one day.

Leif.

Roy: Oh, this needs a little explanation of Czech realia. In the early 1990's, a group of RPG enthusiasts here published a game called Dračí doupě (which can be roughly translated as Dragon's Lair). It became a great hit and phenomenon. Now, the only pen-and-paper RPG most Czechs know is Dračí doupě. Almost all teenagers spend some time playing it. However, it's actually D&D - translated into Czech, simplified and some rules and principals are different. It is so similiar to original D&D that we use the terms as equivalents. But still, I can't therefore answer your question. The only situations when I get into 'real' D&D are when I play something from the Baldur's Gate series which I'm a big fan of. By the way, currently there is a totally new version of Dračí doupě which widens the gap between it and D&D as it is much more strongly based on Slavic mythology. I haven't played it or read the rules yet but it seems very promising and original.

Leif: Thank you. I'll definitely check the contest. As for the Poets' Corner, I consider myself quite smugly a poet but I still find it rather difficult to write poetry in language other than my native one. Perhaps I'll try, though!

Sounds like fun. Do you still have the four major classes of Fighter, Cleric, Theif, and Magic User, Or not?

No. (Now I wanted to translate/explain but then I realised that there is quite a good article about Dračí doupě on English Wikipedia. I think it shows the major differences.
