In Search of a Sword and a Way Out of Jail.

The night was beginning to turn cold. Yet most did not notice. The men were done with their work, the woman done with theirs, all of the children were sleeping soundly. Almost the only people who would be awake were the drunks at the local tavern. Almost. There were a few dressed in dark cloaks and dark clothes. If anyone happened to spot these men they would walk the opposite direction muttering to themselves about how they should have returned home perhaps an hour ago.
The black clad men had no reason to worry about these people however. They only needed to worry about one thing and that thing was getting closer with every step. When the men reached their destination they stopped. It was a house not unlike the others in the area. Yet to them it stood out as if it had the radiance of a sun. The men stopped and looked at each other. One of this group began to speak in a low quiet whispering voice looking at each man in turn.
After the man moved to face another of his companions the person whom he had recently been addressing would move off to somewhere. Not more than a minute later after all of the men had went to their station. A scream was heard. The man whom had been speaking to the others looked over in rage. This wasn't supposed to happen! It was supposed to have been complete silence!
When the man turned his head he saw one of his companions with a split skull and an unnatural darkness spreading over his eyes. There was a larger person standing over him holding a blade. It appeared to have been forged from the darkness of the night itself. For certainly no forge or fire could create such a blade!
The large man saw that he was being watched and advanced on his enemy. Yet even while the thief was angry he could not help but appreciate the beauty of the sword. Taarg Morta was its name. In orcish that translated into dark death. Quite a fitting name to be sure.
The thief drew his own blade. A long curved dagger that seemed to radiate its own pale light. Almost like a moon in comparison to the sky of darkness that was the sword he so desired.
The large man charged with a battle cry. That would have certainly been the end of the thief if it hadn't been for his companions. The man was struck with a small bolt in the chest as well as run through with a slim short sword. He screamed again. This time not a cry of battle or of anger. But a cry of death. Merely the escaping of the last breathe he would ever breathe from his lungs.
The man gave another harsh whisper to his fellow thieves. "Quick take the sword! this was not part of our plans!"
They grabbed the sword then forgot any attempts at remaining hidden and ran for their lives. Hopefully their friend would be able to cover up for them thought the man whom was carrying the blade.

The chill night bit through Roy's warm cloak. Normally he would never be out so late for no reason but unfortunately he had to be. The cart he was riding on broke down and he had to waite for it to be fixed. The cold was banished just as quickly as it came. Roy once again was thankful that he was a fire mage. Yet he could only do so much against the weather without exhausting himself. So as it was. Roy was still considerably cold and uncomfortable.
This caused him to almost miss the first scream. But he did however completely notice the second scream. He stopped and looked in the direction of the noise. He walked towards the house as fast as he could. He lit his staff with his magic. He created a very small light dull and pathetic. Or so it seemed to him. He didn't want to give himself away completely.
The door flew open and before Roy could react he was hit by a small bolt directly along side one of his ribs.
"GAH!" Roy screamed as he fell to ground. The arrow stuck into his rib bone. This was not good. For a moment Roy's light Flared extremely bright. He was able to catch a glimpse of the man who shot him. In in such horrible pain Roy was able to memorise ever line of the face of the man who shot him. Then in but a moment. His light failed.

Koraein had been leaning against a large light post, nodding off, head bobbing up and down as he tried to stay awake. His night was full of drink, talk, and other unmentionables he had long forgotten by the time he stopped at this spot. His wolf companion, Kay, had already given up and fell asleep, snoring and occasionally growling from dreaming.
Koraein slowly began to tip over, collapsing on the ground, nearly asleep when he heard the cry.
"GAH!"
The Knight shot up to his feet faster than an arrow shot from a bow. The sudden jolt caused him to get dizzy, the scream didn't do any better as his heart nearly jumped out of his mouth. He turned to the scream watching as a dimply lit man fell, followed by another fleeing past him. Koraein jogged over to fallen man, noticing the bolt protruding from his chest. He turned to watch the attacker just as he rounded a corner.
"Bloody hell mmmate! You alrigh'? -Hic-"
Koraein turned back the wounded man, his breath smelling heavy of alcohol. Kay eventually trotted over to the man as well, yawning. She noticed the bleeding man on the ground and moved in to try and lick his wounds.

"Bloody hell mmmate! You alrigh'? -Hic-" Said the man who just approached Roy.
WAS HE ALRIGHT!? He had a bolt coming out of his chest! Thought Roy. He was most certainly not alright!
Roy screamed again as he slowly moved his hands towards his far left side. His scream grew louder as he put his hand to the bolt and ripped it out.
Roy looked to his side to see some sort of animal trying to lick him. Things couldn't get worse for him. Pain, possible broken bone, incompetent strangers, animals licking him, and escaping enemies to top it all off.
In frustration Roy attempted to rise. He glanced over at the man who approached him. He tried to keep his voice calm. This man could prove useful.
"No! Most certainly not!"
That was a terrible start Roy decided.
"But I will survive. Now quickly help me to my feet!"
Roy finished as he held one hand out to the man and used the other to apply pressure to the wound.

Koraein frowned. Perhaps asking if the man was alright was a bit pointless. He watched as the wounded man pulled the bolt from his ribs. Bad idea. Koraein shook his head.
"..Now quickly help me to my feet!"
The man outstretched his hand. Koraein pulled the man up, perhaps a bit roughly, and spoke his mind.
"Pullin' that bolt outta..yer side was a dumb idea, sir..-Hic-. Good way t'break a rib or bleed out."
He pulled out his hip flask and took a large swig from it."
What in Armeros' name happened?"
Kay had pulled away from the man as soon as he screamed and pulled out the bolt. She sat beside Koraein, tilting her head left and right as she watched the encounter. Her tail wagged a bit as Koraein began to lift the man up, but she remained where she was.

Perhaps it was but Roy needed to inspect the bolt. He leaned greatly on the man who helped him . Not that that would be much weight to him.
"I Agree. But I need to inspect this."
Roy said through gritted teeth. He looked at the bolt. There was no white on it. That was good. The rib did not break and the marrow would not seep into his blood. But there was a spot of black liquid on it. Roy touched it with a trembling hand.
He looked at it closer.
Yes it was poison. Roy Groaned. He had a few herbs on his person. But he had no idea what this was! Nor would he have time to treat it.
Roy who was feeling worse by the second said
"I Don't know what happened. But it’s not good. Grab my staff we must go."
He needed to find some sort of apothecary or a medical man of some sort. Not to mention that this looks highly bad and if they were found they would surely be blamed.
However it may be to late. The sounds of boots and shouts grew closer.
