I'm not too sure about the hastily chosen screen name I've given myself, but I thought it might be nice to register and say hello. I'm really not good at introductions and I do have a tendency to ramble so bear with me ;)

My name's Jess and I'm from Melbourne, Australia. I'm currently on semester break from university (I'm studying biomedical science), but it's just about to end. I am so sad! I've been searching the net for an rpg just like this for a lifetime, and I'm thrilled to have found Santharia. I have to say that I truly admire the dedication and the imaginations of everyone here.

I've got about 4ish years of roleplay experience, mainly based in forums and on the IMVU client. One of the main reasons I've decided to come to Santharia is because I'd really like to take part in something consistent and imaginative. I'm a lover of vampires and other fangy/dark things, but I think the character I'd like to create here will be something quite the opposite. In complete contrast to what I just wrote, I think the Diorye'oleal tribe entry is beautiful. ;P

I think I'll end this here, and disappear back into the compendium.
Looking forward to meeting some new people!

Hello Lyria,

you do have a nice name! But you can always change it in your profil, or add a second name to it.

Welcome to our RPG community! Happy reading and writing up your character.

Welcome aboard! And I must say I'm utterly surprised. You can use the IMVU client for roleplaying? I guess I could imagine it a little from when I was there, but it seems like it would be a bit of a trick.

Is IMVU something similar to Second Life? I looked up Wikipedia, but don't really know, if I understood, what it is.

Thankyou everyone!

Before you get excited, IMVU is just a place to chat online whilst playing with stationary 3D pixels, but it is a lot of fun to create a visual of the things you are trying to describe when it comes to roleplay. I suppose it is quite similar to Second Life, in that the general idea is the same (playing online with pixels etc), but Second Life is so much more advanced that you literally enter another 'world' on the internet.

The style of roleplay on the IMVU client is very much like forum posting - except in real-time. Ie: you hop into a chat room, dress your avatar up like your character, write a paragraph about entering said chat room and viola, you can interact with characters (and players) in that room through what we call 'paragraph posting'. It does get a little cluttered and complex but I really enjoy it.

Unfortunately IMVU is overrun with people who just aren't that willing to roleplay in the depth I enjoy, so I've made my peace with that and left.
