Appearance. Chasm Demons
are rather tall, but usually hunched over. Their skin is a sickly grey with
tinges of brown. They are well muscled, with hideously
out of proportion bodies. Lanky arms are extending down
to large hands which hold only four fingers, each of which has a claw at the
end. Not much of a neck to speak of, but simply a mass of muscle with a
"head" on top. The only way the
neck can really be distinguished is that spoke protrude
from the spine there, going all the way up to the top of the
beasts head. A Chasm Demon has two holes in its
head which seem to serve as ears for the thing and two, very sunken in red eyes
which seem to glow with evil and hate. A nose which is always upturned, exposing
the nostrils, rests between them, just a small bit down.
Rows of large, razor sharp teeth without any lips make this
demon seem to be grinning evilly at all times. A nicely muscled, but
slender chest and torso lead down to legs which resemble that of a goat, with
hooves and even a little hair around the tops of them. Finally, a tail slides
out of the bottom of the demons spine, ending in a tuft
of hair. With the exception of around its hooves and at the end of its tail, the
body is totally devoid of hair.

Special Abilities.
While the Chasm Demon can always use its claws or run its horns through
someone, they also have some more sophisticated attacks. Chasm
Demons are masters at using
the fire of the Abyss they come from
to make weapons, armor, or simply to launch it at someone. Stronger
Chasm Demons can even sometimes summon the weaker ones. (Note:
While the Demons can make things out of abyssal fire, only they can touch these
products without being harmed.

Territory. The
Chasm Demon is a skulking, retched looking thing. These beasts come form the
deepest, darkest pits in the underworld that exist and can only be brought forth
through very powerful magic. Chasm Demons
have become rare in these days,
but they used to be rather common at the great mythical wars of
long ago. The black mages e.g. used to summon them
as shocktroops during the War
of the Chosen, and still a few hold the power to split open the
ground and dredge them forth.

Habitat/Behavior.
Chasm Demons will do anything they can to quench their
thirst for blood and to satiate their
hunger with fresh meat, even at the price of their own
lives. They exist only to bring hate, pain and evil to the world. Destruction
is all that they leave in their wake, with the exception of a tortured scream
here and there. It's highly doubted that the creatures actually think, but that
they are created only with the intentions they exhibit.

Diet. It always
carries with it the stench of the Abyss, and is always crazed for the taste of blood
and organs of any kind. One of the Chasm Demon's
favorite parts is intestine, which is why they most often use their claws to
slit open their victim's abdomen and sink their large, sharp teeth in to feast
upon them.

Mating.
Chasm Demons have no reproductive organs to speak of,
and all seem to be decidedly male. No one knows how they breed, but many think
they simply resemble themselves, if they are summoned then destroyed, when they
get back home. Some others think they are the souls of dead
humans, elves,
or any kind of biped which have been ripped apart, tortured, and changed, then
put back together and given a thirst for blood. What kind of twisted High Demon
would come up with something like that, none can say, but it is still a popular
belief, as some who have been lucky enough (or unlucky
enough, as the case may be) to encounter one sometimes
say it resembled a dead relative of theirs. Of course the first theory, and the
most likely one, is that they are simply spawned from abyssal
fire, hence the name.

Language. The
language of the Chasm Demon consists of a system of snarls, growls, snorts,
something which resembles a belch, accompanied by body
motions. It is rather crude and animalistic, but it seems a
proven fact that Chasm Demons indeed are capable of communicating to each other.
As of yet no one has been able to decipher their strange tongue.

Noted Researchers.
Most information on Chasm Demons was written down by Geta Siiken. He was a
notoriously strong magus some many years ago who used to summon the monsters,
study them for a short time, then slaughter them for fun. He also did many
adverse experiments with one or more of them, including trying to force them to
breed to see if their reproductive organs were hidden. That experiment ended in
the Demons ripping each other
apart, and was the only one of its kind. Siiken's works
can be found in most libraries devoted to magic, and excerpts from
his books are quoted in just about
any book on Demons, as Siiken did research on many
different types. For more information on Geta Siiken see "The Man Who Spoke With
Demons: A Biography of Magus Siiken" by Khalum Darodwin.
