Soul Murder, a Wind Magic suggestion for Orril!

A spell idea i came up with some time back, that Orril might like to develop;

Soul Murder.
This spell basically uses highly advance Wind magic of the Spiritual aspect to destroy the targets personality permanently, leaving a mindless vessel behind, memories and skin intact, but with no trace of the original occupant left. This 'vessel' is usually still able to perform small tasks that do not require ore intelligence than the average piece of cattle has. When cast by multiple mages the effect can be used more subtle, and a target can reach what is called a "forced rebirth", where his/her personality is reset rather than destroyed, and the mind starts re-developing itself rapidly, letting the target go through all of the stages of maturity again as it races to match the physical age of the body again. (this process would take weeks to months, depending on the targets age) this essentially produces an entirely new individual in the same old body. For reasons unknown, most of the memories are lost during the maturing.

Soul Murder is forbidden from use by the Archmagister of the Wind Tower, but this ban is known to be temporarilly removed when someone is found guilty of severe betrayal of Ximax/the Wind tower. (usual verdict; Soul Murder with Forced Rebirth) or when someone willingly and knowingly murders an innocent. (usual verdict; Soul Murder, no Rebirth.)

credits for the idea go to a very old sci-fi story i read a long time ago, where the main character is punished with personality rebirth, only they do it the technological way.

the reminds me so much of the Jedi council (in Star Wars video games) erasing Darth Revan's personality and letting it reform into a better person. Pretty much it was exactly as you described, it takes several people to do a rebirth.

That could be a most interesting and complex spell, i wonder what Mina will think? Thanks for bringing up the idea, sounds good.

I don't think the word soul is used on the site. Also, this spell might be permanently banned by the administration or no approval given unless it is at least tenth level. Who knows.

Dagan... Didn't you had some plants to attend at Mira's Greenhouse?

@ Miraran: Interesting idea, this might be possible by removing a big amount of wind ounia from the subject, leaving it only with the chaos of water and the desires of fire, But fire goes with wind too, leaving only a tormented semiconscious being with no memory, feelings or dreams. I might use the title as Mind Removal or capital Punishment. But first let me finish pierce, then a pair of fire spells and this.

Er...is it a good idea to let Orril handle something this advanced, Mira? This is sort of in the unexplored areas of Wind magic.

Well, at least I'm pretty certain it's Wind.

lol, do you fear I break a discussion of what the wind does in the mind? My doubts are concerning fire... will fire stay even without the wind there or would it go with the wind leaving what I descrived.

I thought of it as a test. If Orril can develop this (in due time.. he can start right now if he would like to, but it will be a verry complicated entry to write!), he has shown us a great advancement in his skills, and understanding of magic. also, i though he'd love the idea, and it would just be rotting away ona shelf if i put it in my to-do list, as Nybelmar has priority over random development.
