I'm not sure if Santharia is familiar with siege weaponry, because all the weapons I have seen in the first few pages seem to be for, war purpose's yes, but not for long-term attacks, that you would need to take on a castle, or fortified town.

So after I get a few replies, (if any of them are such as 'yeah sure go ahead' type things) I will search through these forums, sus' out what's been already made.  Then go ahead and design some siege weapons.  I'm planning on this being my first project, and I'll problem churn out an idea fairly quickly, but the final design may take some time.

So yeah ill start once I get in some replies

Battering Ram & balista are the only ones I found, but I believe there was a third. Or maybe that was just a picture.

We have a picture of the Onager, which needs to be integrated, Pyrokar:

If you want to do an entry similar to the other two mentioned above, be my guest :)

The third is an onager, and, yes, I think it's only in picture form at the moment.  There are certainly quite a few types seige weapons around, but few if any have been described in any detail at all.  Maybe you could try making an entry for the onager, Pyrokar.

Onager, looks a lot like what i'd picture a mangonel to be (a catapult, which can't be moved due to the large scale size, and must be put together once the armies actually reach the battlefield).  So if it's in your main interests Drasil you can message me if you want some help and i can google some stuff on the mangonel, then merge both siege weapons together to make the ideal wall bashing machine!  Of course they may be the same thing with different names.  So yeah just mail me if u want an extra person to do the research and such.

It is a case of two names for the same thing. Onager was a nickname for Mangonel. Onager was the name for a wild donkey that kicks and bucks whenever someone tried to harness it, and the Mangonel was dubbed such because of the powerfull kick it would give as it was released, from the energy released by all the torsion built up in the skein. From one site I found information relating that a full sized Onager could hurl something about the size and weight of a bowling ball a fourth of a mile.

I can hardly believe a bowling ball could knock down a well built wall.  But then again sheer force would make a big difference, so is onagel the same thing as mangonel exactly? or a smaller version?

According to Wiki it's the same thing. Also, one (cannon)bal doesn't knock down a decent wall, but bombard a wall with them long enough and it'll start coming down eventually. Generally sieges lasted quite long, so it's not like they didn't have time :) And velocity is everything. With enough speed you can punch grass though stone rooftiles (which sometimes happens during tornados).

Yeah, i was thinking the same but with playing cards  grin, but still it was unconvincing at first, and thikn of it this way, if a catapult had as much speed and power as a cannon, then why were cannon's invented?  Sure they were probably quicker to manouver and set up, but i highly doubt that was the main reason.

If you want to work together on the entry, Drasil & Pyrokar, you could either show what you have yet to Pyrokar, Drasil, and he can finish it adding more detail or, or you can do it the other way round. Or decide who works on which section etc. Cooperative work is very much appreciated as it brings people together and usually produces faster results as well - just make sure to communicate who does what :)

And better results if we work well together  grin, then again if we don't we get worse results  buck.  So it depends how we like things done.  But yeah drasil i think i mailed you but haven't had a reply.  Then again the mail may have failed I'm not sure.

If you're into weapons and armour, there's of course also a bunch of stuff that could be done. Regarding armour: So far we only have Leather Armour on the site (Chain Mail coming this update), so more work in this regard is also appreciated, there are a lot more varities that could be described (Nsikigan probably will do Plate Armour, though)! :)

I don't know if it's coming with the update or not, but if you have enough space on the site, I'm thinking a weapons and armour page should come sometime soon, because it seems there is quite a few weapons already, a lack of armour sure, but it will come in time.  But it's something for you to think about, although it's probably already crossed your mind before :).

In the Miscellaneous menu (the icon with the bag), last link you have quite a bit of weapons and armour already - check that out if you haven't yet. Not that much available in the Armour section yet there though.

I'm amazed you can see the Altario projects pile considering it is dwarfed by my unfinished projects. For which I apologise.

I think they're under that big pile of unfinished Altario projects.  :)
