And here comes already the next picture... This one is a picture for Deci and actually a crop from the marmarran noble, showing a Finger Blade!

I think this is as close as such an illustration can get of the blade, and if you asked me it is just perfect!! The hand is very well drawn, the choosing of the background is extremely effective here, the only hinted arm... And the idea itself: to use the noble's hand position that way and get another very cool image out of it, splendid! From here comes an undisputed round of applause:  clap clap clap

Brilliant picture! The lacework is very impressive! So are the realistic shadows and hues of the hand! How long did this one take Judith?

I just realized how awesome it looks (and sly!) pointing downwards! As if Mr Mystmery trying to hide the blade behind himself! (Just save picture, and rotate it :) )

Glad you all like it!

(blushes at Art)  Thank you!  Your praise encourages me to keep on drawing, and to improve.

(smooch to Deci)  I hope it will help give people a very clear picture of how the blade was used!

(Hug to Coren)  Not as long as you might think; the hand itself was on a separate layer in my PDS format copy of the Marmarran, so I was able to abstract it, put it against a new background, and add the lace cuff fairly easily.

The cuff took some time (free-hand drawing with two sizes of stylus, using Photoimpression and my Wacom) but the whole thing was less than an hour.

Looks amazing but not very deadly. I'm not sure how you'd hurt someone with that. Mabye straighten out the tip a bit?

It's meant to be used as a straight-edge razor, not as a poniard.  All you would have to do, with the blade I've depicted, is strain the middle finger aside slightly and the top half of the blade will be unencumbered.   Then drag the hand across your victim's throat, palm inwards, and let the end of the blade cut more deeply as your hand tilts perpendicular to the throat.

Not that I really wanted to go into that much detail..... (oogly eyes)

Well you could have gone into more such as:

As the you ready the finger blade upon your middle finger making sure the sharper point is at the tip of the finger, you make sure your victim is tied up and cannot move. Then, as he screams for mercy you slowly slide your hand, palm inwards, across his throat until your finger blade reaches his skin. At this point, you slowly apply more pressure as the victim screams more and more with pain. Then it gets quiet once your hand has finished across his neck, as the cut is so deep that no one could survive. To due this accurately for a clean cut, make sure your hand slowly comes to a perpendicular direction compared to the victim's throat as it cuts cleaner and more precise.

Is this a little bit better or could i use a look at disctionary.com's theasaurus section for better word usage?

(Loves the vivid detail he puts in it, but despises the thought of this happening to him.)

Ick!   Thanks, Clurion (gives him a narrow-eyed look) but yeah, we could've done without that grisly bit of detail!

Actually, though it's quite well-written, and no, you don't need to check a thesaurus (except perhaps for spelling!  :P )   I don't think many assassins have the luxury of having their victim 'tied up' so that they 'cannot move'...  The initial idea for this blade was that it was used very much in public, say, at a masked ball.

But I'm sure we could use your writing talents somewhere more profitable - wouldn't you like to help out with the latest team project, describing weapons and their respective worth, or some such thing?  (looks hopefully at Clurion)

that is a very nice illustration, fair bard. i especially like the midtones and textures. little details like the veins and tendons in the wrist are convincingly painted.

is that wacom the coolest thing you have ever had or not? i have scratched nearly through both sides of the floppy sheet on mine. time to replace that part!

Oh, and I've now also spotted the piece - among so many other great one's you've gathered there!

Bonus suggestion: Never knew that Phylicia Rashad from the Cosby Show is such a great gospel singer - see here, start at ca. 4:30 - really great voice!
