Nymersyan Meringues

This tasty treat has a number of variations, depending on what is available in one's area, but I will only list a couple of the most common.  It was originally developed in Nymersys but has since travelled rapidly to other places and become extremely popular.

Topping
The whites from 3 Taenish eggs
Two small spoonful foridite

Fillling
A couple handfuls of a treat known as "Brownie eggs"--these are doch nuts that have been repeatedly dipped in melted kao-kao, which has then been allowed to harden
OR
3 bars cream kao-kao, broken into small pieces.

(Some varieties use fruits/berries instead)

Base

Two dozen (or more) pieces of sliced tuberfruit
OR
Small slices sweet bread or cake

Firstly, beat the egg whites till white and fluffy.  This will take the longest.  When done, add the foridite and mix well.  This is called "meringue" * (see below)

Next, lay out the tuberfruit or sliced cake onto a baking tray.  Place the Brownie eggs or kao-kao pieces onto the tuberfruit and cover completely with meringue.  Bake in hot over just long enough to brown meringue.  This does not take long so pay attention!

Once cooled, the cookies may be enjoyed, though many a baker (or baker's children) may have difficulty in waiting that long...

* This is named after a lovely contralto from Naurooth who travelled to Southern Sarvonia and became quite famous, about 200 years ago.  Her name was Avath Mar'ine'go (a typical Kuglimz surname, meaning "brave bright wolf") and the dessert topping became known as "meringue".

Your etymology is as delightful as the receipt!

And you should NOT have invented 'Brownie Eggs' as a mere sidelight to this dish, either.... if there were any way to improve on Dochnuts other than adding them to Dochnut and Kaokao Cookies, I believe you have just found it.   Not to mention adding hebs to Santharian women's hips...

Dame Sausade will be very happy with you!

I don't want this to just get lost here, it needs to go in the cookbook.  I guess it's ready to integrate, so whenever we have another update...

*Valan filches some parchments from around the corners of the pile before sauntering off attempting to look casual and tripping over the hem of his robes.*

Waiiiiiit!   (Bard staggers back with a pile of Unfinished Projects so high her arms are trembling)  Let me stuff mine in there before you lock the room!  *looks guiltily around and snatches the Quenyss parchment off the top of the stack*

Then I say we lock the Unfinished Projects room.  If Arti ever gets in there.... big trouble. rolleyes

I'm amazed you can see the Altario projects pile considering it is dwarfed by my unfinished projects. For which I apologise.

I think they're under that big pile of unfinished Altario projects.  :)
