Hi everyone,

Here's the latest update to the outline the Line of Kings for Erpheronia for the years between Malakai and Thaelmar.  Look for some big changes - some repeat names AND some female monarchs.  Comments welcome here - this may generate some controversy, however since females did ascend to the Erpheronian throne (with Katya and Jenefra), the precedent has been set.

Name changes in red, and additional comments in yellow.

Here's my updated proposal for the timeline from 1655 to 822 b.S.:

Trel.

(1698 b.S.
to 1650 b.S.)  King Maengolth “the Villainous”, Queen ????.
(Son: Caein, Daughter: Jenefra)

Maengolth faces an attempted coup, during the rebellion of b.S 1653, where several noble familes of Voldar at the instigation of Lord Kastigher of House Cloriae, seek to overthrow what they see as Maengolth's oppressive reign. During the 37th year of his reign, the Dragonstorm occurs, after Maengolth demands that the hero Wengerim slay the adamant-dragon, Seargon, to gain his daughter’s hand in marriage. In 1650 b.S., Maengolth is murdered at the hands of his own son, Caein, in collusion with the dragon Ol'dém'bréy.

(1670 b.S.
to 1626 b.S.) Queen Jenefra “the Beautiful”, King Wengerim.
(No known children)

Short time Queen of Erpheronia (from 1650 to 1646 b.S.) and daughter of the notorious Maengolth, one of the most important Erpheronian monarchs during the beginning of the Age of Awakening.

Jenefra is reputed to be the most beautiful human woman ever born since the creation of the world. In several poems written during this time she was named the "most beautiful of the beautiful" or the "rising of the shining sun". In 1655 b.S Jenefra was wedded to the knave Wengerim as a reward for his slaying of the adamant-dragon Seargon, which he was forced to do by her father to prove his love.  In 1650 b.S., Maengolth was murdered at the hands of his own son, Caein, who was acting under a pact with the dragon Ol'dém'bréy.  Caein was later himself betrayed and killed by the dragon, and Wengerim was killed during the Dragonstorm, leaving Jenefra a young widow at the age of 20. The Council of the Ten Ruling Houses of Voldar voted her de-facto sovereign of the Erpheronian Kingdom.

The last surviving member of her family, Jenefra was not well accepted among the people due to Caein's heinous actions.  However, her immense courage and determination helped mobilise the people of Voldar, who withstand the incessant onslaught of the dragons until the arrival of Katya Ileri Dain. The common girl Katya later became Queen of the Erpheronians when Jenefra abdicated in her favour and was known among her subjects and in the history books as Katya the Just.

1664 b.S.
to 1593 b.S. Queen Katya “the Just”, Prince Consort Lysander Dain.
(Son: Malakai)

Queen of Voldar and the Erpheronian tribe during the Age of Awakening (from 1646 to 1593 b.S.). Her common name was Katya Ileri Dain. Also known sometimes as Katya Dragonseeker or among her enemies as the Beggar Queen due to the fact that she was not born of noble stock but was a village girl in her youth. Daughter of Medoc and Ertai Ileri of Yarrow.

During the cataclysmic Dragonstorm, the Adamant Dragon Ol'dém'bréy rained fire down upon her village, causing her father and everyone she knew to perish in the destruction. The only survivor and half-mad from pain, grief and rage, she stumbled onto the Thaelon Forest and was healed by the legendary elven kind who dwelled within. After a fateful meeting with the High Avá'ránn, her hair turned the color of pale moonlight, marking her forever as elven-touched (hárf'á'chón).  The years before her succession onto the throne are unclear and rife with many stories and myths. However, what is known was that, feared for her rumoured reputation as the only other human to have slain a dragon other than Wengerim, Katya ruled over the Erpheronian tribe with an iron hand. Though she may not have ruled wisely at times, these mistakes were far and few in between and she was a fair and impartial Queen and in her later years, gained the title of 'Katya the Just' among her people. Without her, the years succeeding the Vardýnnian Atonement would have been indeed harsher than expected.

Married to Lysander Dain, Captain of the Guards. After the Prince Consort's death at the age of 81, it was said that after Katya Ileri Dain passed the reins of leadership to her only son, Malakai, she walked alone out of the gates of Voldar, towards the direction of the Thaelon and was never seen again.

1615 b.S.
to 1582 b.S.  King Malakai, unmarried.
(No known children)

Malakai holds the throne from 1593 to 1582 b.S.  His mother, Katya, gives up the throne upon her husband’s death and is never seen from again.  Malakai dies unwedded and without children in an unfortunate riding accident at the age of 33, resulting in several hotly contested discussions within the Voldarian Ruling Council.  Furthermore, the Duke of Narvoss attempts to gain some autonomy for his duchy by declaring Narvoss a sovereign state.  He attempts to gain favour from Houses Lothari, Hruth, and Sigil, who all had been opposed to Queen Jenefra taking the throne in 1646 b.S..  He stirs up the old rivalry between these and the Houses of Eithar, Branoc, Sellus, and Machlar, who form a partnership. Once again, the leaders of Eithar, Branoc, Sellus, and Machlar manage to convince the remaining council members to vote for a common representative to temporarily head the efforts against the Narvoss alliance – he is Duke Jaeoyr of Cemphiria. After a few bloody skirmishes north of Voldar, Jaeoyr and his army, which also includes solders from Jernais, quell the uprising out of Narvoss. Jaeoyr, with the support of the Voldarian Ruling Council, ascends to the throne in 1581 b.S.

1601
to 1530 b.S. Jaeoyr “the Chosen”, Queen Bregar
(Sons: Thoan, and Daughter: Jenefra)

Jaeoyr’s reign (1581 to 1530 b.S.) is a relatively quiet, peace-filled time for Erpheronia.  The Voldarian Ruling Council works closely with Jaeoyr to empower a new law-making committee.  This committee has five representatives of the ruling houses, which rotates among the houses every four years, and a representative selected by the Dukes of Narvoss, Jernais, Astran, Cemphiria, and Accarn (this representative cannot be the duke himself).  This committee is charged with reviewing the laws of the country, recommending changes, omissions and recommending new laws for the King of Erpheronia to ratify.  Jenefra, eldest child of Jaeoyr ascends to the throne in 1530 b.S.

1560
to 1481 b.S. Queen Jenefra II “the Aged”, Prince Consort Caeron
(Sons: Eroyr, Raeis, Myrash, Raeolth)

Queen Jenefra the Second's reign (1530 to 1481 b.S.) is marked by several fierce battles with the Centoraurians, in a series of attempts to increase Erpheronian territory.  Some among the Voldarian Ruling Council suggest that Jenefra II’s long-time emnity with the northern holdings of Centorauria, brought about by land disputes between her own lands, which border the Aurora Fields, are the true reason for the wars.  Some confidence in the Cemphirian line of monarchs is eroded away, as the Voldarians are called on to fund much of the war efforts.  Though Jenefra II is able to make some inroads, and brings down the Thyslanite Dynasty, the army led by Centoreus successfully fends off and crushes Jenefra II's army at a massive battle on the Aurora Plains.  The successful defeat of the Erphernian army occurs just months prior to the inauguration of the Centaurian Kings, which begins with Centoreus in 1481 b.S.  Jenefra II passes away later that year, having lost much of her zeal for life after the defeat at Aurora.

1499
to 1478 b.S. Eroyr “the Foolish”, unmarried.
(No ‘legitimate’ children)

Eroyr’s reign was short (1481 to 1478 b.S.) and marred by rumours that he was a complete fool, devoid of the ability to think independently.  He spends much of his life inebriated, and treats life as if it were one long celebration.  His attempts to woo a number of young women of the court fail, largely due to the fact that his promiscuity was known to cause him – and his paid “consorts” – serious health problems, which none of the ladies of marriageable age within the nobility would dare consider marrying him.  Eroyr died, bedridden and diseased, when he was 21, only three years after taking the throne, but with enough time to spend a significant portion of the Erpheronian coffers on his excesses.

1497
to 1436 b.S.  King Raeis “the Bull”, Queen Corena.
(Sons: Carrin, Daughters: Saenra, Wanrena)

Raeis is known as “the Bull” for his viciousness in warfare and politics.  Both intelligent and cunning, Raeis becomes as proficient at sword fighting and combat strategy, as he does as negotiation and intimidation.  His ability to earn money on trade agreements with neighbouring countries sees Erpheronia make some financial recovery after nearly two centuries of fiscal irresponsibility.  Despite his successes, Raeis makes some political enemies within Erpheronia itself, and once again the rivalry between the Duke of Narvoss and the Erpheronian King sparks off some fighting in the countryside east of the Warnaka Mountains near the town of Ishmarin.  During the fight, Raeis’ questionably vicious tactics result in some civilian casualties as one particularly brutal battle actually takes place inside Ishmarin’s walls.  Raeis wins the battle but loses the confidence of one of the nobles of Nyermersys, who has holdings around Ishmarin.  He reigns from 1478 to 1436 b.S.

1457
to 1379 b.S. Carrin “the Meek”, Queen Valthea
(Son: Morach, Daughter: Kaeýsa)

Carrin is the last king of the Erpheronian kings from the Duchy of Cemphiria – after nearly 200 years since the reign of King Jaeoyr “the Chosen”.  Erpheronia comes to the point where its nobility questions the direction the kingdom is going.  With mixed successes in recent efforts and severe financial strain, the nobility decides it is time for radical change.  Narvoss, which has always shown antipathy toward the Erpheronian throne, and even Jernais and Astran, which had supported the ascension of King Jaeoyr together with the Voldarian Ruling Council ousts Carrin from the throne.  A two-year period of instability follows in which the Erpheronian throne is vacant, until 1377, when the stalwart leader of House Eithar, Ephonovor, steps forward and takes the throne.

1352
to 1294 b.S.  King Ephonovor “the Resolute”, Queen Aesella
(Sons: Ephonovor, Sývrin and Calodin).

During the reign of Carrin “the Meek”, several of the Erpheronian duchies (excluding Cemphiria), as well as the Voldarian Ruling Council, meet in the City of Nyermersys to discuss the state of the country, without the knowledge of their king.  Carrin has been unable to re-negotiate existing trade agreements with the Centoraurians or the Kyranians, and the Caltharians benefit from trade of raw materials (eg. wood the Thaelon Forest), which come at a much lower price than Caltharian metal goods and clothing.  The head of House Eithar, Ephonovar steps forward to lead the discussions, and gains the backing of the Dukes of Jernais, Astran and Accarn.  Though his bid to head the effort is opposed by both duke of Narvoss, Ephonvor’s pull among the ten ruling houses gives him enough support to ascend to the Erpheronian throne in 1377.  From this point forward for many generations, the King of Erpheronia is a Voldarian descended of the House of Eithar.

1322
to 1256 b.S. Ephonovor II “the Merciless”, Queen Býringar
(Sons: Syvar, Myrkorel, Thaeloan, Erthis, Daughter: Jenala)

During Ephonovor the Second’s reign, from 1294 b.S. to 1256 b.S., the Erpheronian King is involved in a drawn-out struggle with the Duchy of Narvoss, primarily over disputes of land ownership.  The Duke of Narvoss attempts to lay claim to the Warnaka Mountains, a known source of uruyant.  Though the mountains have always been a rich source of the mineral, recent demands for jewelry in the south dramatically increase – particularly in Varcopas and Strata after Miyal IV takes rulership and Stratanian influence grows around the continent, following the chaos of 1287 b.S.  Ephonovor II deals a crushing blow to the Duchy of Narvos in a massive battle on the slopes of the Warnaka Mountains in1284 b.S.  The duchy loses more than half of its military capacity.  King Ephonovor II has the Duke of Narvoss executed for treason, leaving rulership of the duchy in a shambles.

1294
to 1233 b.S. King Syvar “the Peaceful”, Queen Carissa.
(Sons: Eyron, Aerael and Caemaros)

Syvar is crowned King of Erpheronia in 1256 b.S.  His reign lasts 23 years and is marked by only a few minor battles with neighbouring Kyrania and many years of peace brought to an end by the murders of his two eldest sons - Eyron and Aerael - in 1234 b.S.  He passes away in his sleep a year later.  Upon his death in 1233 b.S., his Queen, Carissa, leaves Voldar and returns to her home city of Accam, where she and her family raise her grandson, Aelvor, Eyron’s only child.

1254
to 1179 b.S. King Caemaros “the Accused”, Queen Dalcar
(Son: Thaelcar, Daughters: Sorossa and Saenrena)

King Caemaros assumes the Erpheronian throne in 1233 b.S.  Though he was third in line to the throne, both of his older brothers - Eyron and Aerael - were brutally murdered outside the walls of Voldar Keep in 1234 b.S. by a group of thieves who they encounter during the night.  The killings spark an investigation once it is learned that the thieves were in the employ of the Duke of Narvoss, but the courts are unable to prove that the duke has ordered the murders, as the thieves testify that they were acting on their own accord.  Then a series of letters from Caemaros to Narvoss surface asking for help in removing his obstacles to the throne – the two older princes.  The letters possess the royal seal, and court mages are able to determine Caemaros wrote them.  He is accused of treason, tried and beheaded in 1179 b.S.  His eldest son does not ascend to the throne, rather Eyron’s only son, Aelvor, becomes the new Erpheronian King.

1231
to 1157 b.S. King Aelvor “the Orc-Slayer”, Queen Merrena.
(Sons: Myrkorel and Thacor, Daughters: Kaeradda and Canissa)

Aelvor’s reign begins in 1179 b.S., after his uncle, King Caemaros is found guilty of murdering the prince’s father, Eyron and executed.  Aelvor spends much of the early portion of his reign soothing relations among the nobility, as Caemaros’ relationship with the Duke of Narvoss causes much discord among the ruling caste.  The duchy of Narvoss has long been a political obstacle for the Erpheronian king, and with the exception of Houses Lothari, Hruth and Sigil, has few formalized trade agreements or alignments.  Following the settling of Carmalad in 1200 b.S., a massive expansion in trade between Erpheronia and Caltharia begins around 1175 b.S..  Much of what is traded to Caltharia are raw materials used for building new structures – wood and iron.  In particular, wood from the Sahnrix tree, which is known to resist fire and last long, is imported by some of the wealthier families moving to Carmalad.  The increase in Sahnrix harvest north and east of Astran begins to cause disturbances between the humans in the area and the Gob-Oc Orcs, who make their homes in the Tandala Highlands.  This sets off a war that lasts for nearly 12 years until the expansion in Carmalad slows down.  Aelvor, a man of great strength and skill with sword and shield slays the orcs’ leader in 1163 b.S.  The Gob-Oc orcs suffer serious losses in this battle and return to their homes.  Aelvor dies in 1157 b.S.  Upon his death, his eldest child, Kaeradda, ascends to the throne - the first female to do so since Queen Jenefra II.

1176
to 1137 Kaeradda "the Trader", Prince Consort Thacor
(Son: Ephonovor, Daughters: Essara and Vanona)

When Kaeradda assumes the Erpheronian throne in 1157 b.S., she continues with Aelvor’s direction of increasing international trade by seeking a trade relationship with the Stratanians.  She takes a trade mission to Varcopas to begin discussions on trade in 1150 b.S., and is able to secure a small agreement.  Queen Kaeradda’s mission is cut short when she receives word that the Duke of Narvoss has quietly rebuilt its forces.  Though a battle is never fought, tensions increase among the nobility, which causes a fracture between Narvoss, Nyermersys and Accarn.  Trade among the three areas is not strong to begin with, and this tension stops trade.  Furthermore, when Queen Kaeradda returns to Stratania, she finds she is unable to develop the Erpheronia-Stratania trade agreement any further.  Kaeradda passes away in 1137 b.S.

1159
to 1085 Ephonovor III "the Cautious", Queen Amarena
(Sons: Triodin, Myrkorel, Daughter: Shaedda)

King Ephonovor the Third’s reign starts in 1137 b.S.  Thinking forward in the development of Erpheronia, Ephonovor III begins to build a navy beyond the few merchant ships that trade with countries to the south.  His plan is to use the ships to patrol the waters along either cost of Erpheronia, and provide safe passage for trading vessels to the south.  By 1126 b.S., there is one support ship to accompany each merchant ship.  In addition to ships, Ephonovor III begins to increase the size of his standing army and institutes formal weapons and survival training for every Erpheronian over the age of 8.  Ephonovor III dies in 1085 b.S., and the throne passes to Shaedda, his eldest child.

1136
to 1077 Queen Shaedda “the Unlucky”, Prince Consort Eyimon
(Son: Caeth, Daughter: Brealla)

When Shaedda is crowned Queen of Erpheronia in 1085 b.S., she recognises the serious impact that internal relations have on the morale of her country, in addition to political and financial instability.  Shaedda spends most of her reign trying to build alliances within Erpheronia, and particularly between the Duchy of Narvoss and Nyermersys and the Duchy of Astran.  Initially, Shaedda meets with resistance from both sides, but perseveres and manages to formalise an agreement between Narvoss, Astran and Nyermersys that benefits all three by making their primary resources more readily available to one another by widening and levelling the roads between them.  Shaedda is killed in a hunting accident in 1077 b.S.

1081
to 1035 b.S. Caeth “the Child-King”, Queen Wanýa
(Sons: Aeric, Daughters: Caralla, Jenala, Breýssa).

Caeth ascends to the throne in 1077 b.S. at the young age of 4, after the unexpected death of his father, Triodin, who is killed while hunting wild boar in the Forest of Bolder.  Many try to blame Triodin’s death on the Duke of Narvoss, who is one of many of the nobility invited to the hunting expedition.   However, Triodin’s personal counsel represents the duke, who is a surprisingly good friend of the king.  The head of House Eithar acts as Steward of Erpheronia and fosters the boy until his eighteenth birthday, when he is crowned king.  Caeth becomes very knowledgeable in lore and myth, as well as magic and artifacts, and becomes an accomplished mage in the area of Earth Magic, able to cast spells of Level V.  Though studious, Caeth does not have foresight to balance his magical interests with his obligation to his kingship.  Toward the end of his reign, Caeth becomes sickly and sequesters himself in his study, ignoring the affairs of his kingdom so that many decisions are made by the Voldarian Ruling Council and the long-standing law-making committee established by Jaeoyr in 1579 b.S.  Caeth dies after catching a wasting sickness and a disease that destroys his lungs and ability to breath in 1035 b.S.  His eldest child, Caralla, becomes Queen.

1050
To 1000 b.S. Queen Caralla  “the xxx”, Prince Consort Erthis
(Sons: Thaelmar, Calmar, Kormar)

Reign starts in 1035 and ends in 980 b.S.  Still being researched.

1000 b.S.
to 955 b.S.  King Thaelmar “the Young”, Queen Cathya
(Sons: ??? and Thaelrin)

currently being written.

976 b.S.
to 931 b.S. King Thaelrin “the Relentless”, Queen Saenessa
(Son: Myracor)
Thaelrin – Thaelrin, son of Thaelmar and Cathya, is born in 976 b.S. and dies in 900 b.S. He ascends to throne in 955 b.S., when he is 21 years old. The king was always jealous of the Stratanian’s fortune in establishing trade relations with Nybelmar, and though he attempts to find a way to establish an international trade partnership with the Akdorians, he fails. Thaelrin’s stubborn behaviour and competitiveness pushed him to win without regard for what cost it might take to complete the particularly dangerous task of finding Akdor. His relentless pursuit ends in failure, as Erpheronia still did not have a relationship with the Akdorians prior to his death. However, in his "quest" to find a way to Akdor, he is able to establish the colony of Raevalem on the Peninsula of Aden.

931 b.S.
to 867 b.S. King Myracor "the Mighty", Queen Brythea
(Son: Myrwodin; Daughters: Myressa and Myrach)
Myracor is the only son of Thaelrin and Saenessa, and ascends to the Erpheronian throne in 900 b.S. after his father's death. Myracor and his wife, Brythea have three children - Myrwodin, Myressa and Myrach. Though Myracor is powerfully built - he stands over two peds in height - and is depicted in paintings as a vicious-looking warrior wielding a massive two-headed axe, he uses war only as a last resort.

Myracor spends much of his reign negotiating trade agreements with many kingdoms. He also discovers a route to support small-scale trade with merchants in Akdor. It is not until Viocarvio, King of Caltharia (and father of Artero the Weak) comes into power, that trade relations between Erpheronia and Caltharia begin to sour. Erpheronian-Caltharian trade eventually slows to the point where Myracor closes negotiations with Viocarvio (who is more interested in developing his kingdom's culture rather than its economy) and applies heavy trade tariffs on all non-essentials.

867 b.S.
to 827 b.S. King Myrwodin "the Cruel", Queen Výsanýa
(Sons: Erdolomin, Calodin and Thaeloan)
Son of Myracor, Myrwodin (887 b.S.-827 b.S.) is the cruel and devious king of Erpheronia who invades the kingdom of Caltharia, and forces its ruler, King Artero, to sign the devastating Treaty of Alvang. Myrwodin rules Erpheronia with a toughness that typifies Erpheronian sensibility, and does so with an efficiency that brings certain reforms that improve his kingdom's military.

For many years during the outset of his reign as king, he is ambitious to gain the rich mineral resources in the northern area of Caltharia. However, Myrwodin is tactful enough to wait for an opportunity that will allow him to invade Caltharia without drawing unwanted backlash from the other neighbouring kingdoms of Kyrania and Centorauria. He does not declare war on Caltharia until one of his cousins who serves as an Erpheronian herald in Caltharia is killed there by thieves. Myrwodin dies after many years of suffering from dementia and severe stomach pain.

827 b.S.
to 800 b.S. King Erdolomin "the Righteous", Queen Erýsa
(Son: Aergarim; Daughters: Cathrena, Shaeossa, Essara, Weyalla and Triýsa)
Erdolomin (852 b.S.-800 b.S.) is the eldest son of Myrwodin and Queen Výsanýa, and eventual heir to the Erpheronian throne in 827 b.S. Though predisposed to show compassion, even to enemies, Erdolomin is responsible for finishing the War for Ancyros and renewing the Treaty of Veltin, which effectively eliminates much of Caltharia’s ability to maintain a military.

After the War for Ancyros, Erdolomin works to strengthen relations with neighbouring countries of Centorauria and Kyrania, and even develops a trade agreement with Caltharia. During his career, Erdolomin completes the construction of the Evergrey Bridge, which is important for the defence of Erpheronia during the war, but also becomes an important means of allowing greater volume of trade traffic to and from Voldar and Nyermersys.

Wow!  jawdrop

Now this looks like great stuff you've put together here, Trel  thumbup - and something that will represent a good backbone for all kinds of Erpheronian development in the future. Brilliant! I will go through this list and add the kings/queens bit by bit to our Erpheronian timeline, so that we get this on the site for reference.

A few brief notes that come to my mind:
- "Accarn" is actually "Accam", probably the font isn't seen that clearly on the map.

- It is possible that some names that were established in the Katya story might change. When constructing Erpheronian name conventions I tried to base them to a great degree on what we had, and this included the Katya story, so characters like Katya, Vaeleron, Ertai etc. are typically Erpheronian. Some others can't be bent towards it without changing the scheme, so I assume that we'll have to rename for example "Malakai" to stay consistent. But I will talk with Dalá about this.

- What comes to mind when looking at this kings lists is that we don't use a name twice as of yet. Maybe we should consider that as well. If a king was very famous and popular the son might have followed the father as II., and later - in order to revive certain memories of better time - another king might arise as the III. or IV. etc. If we look at Earthen France then surely they were somewhat extreme in this regard with kings like Louis XIV., XV., XVI. etc. - We could try to bring something of that traditional picture in as well - at least here and there.

Thanks Art!

I agree with you on the naming of the kings.  I purposely used different names for each monarch - and I think for all the siblings - since I wasn't sure if there was a tradition of using different or same names in the Erpheronian tribe.  Jaeoyr and Ephonovor are two names that I personally like alot, but I think we need Judy's input here on the meaning behind these names.  My guess is that those names that describe 'kingly' attributes would be most likely to be reused.

I do have a question about some of this stuff - I've gone out on a limb and created some historical events that aren't written about anywhere, which is why I call this a proposal.  Do you think that in this mass of stuff is something substantial that can be written up as an individual entry? (eg. the battle in Ishmarin in 1478 b.S. or the war against the Gob-oc starting in 1175 b.S.).

Hi Trel, that was quite an amount of work you did here! And well done!
I think you would have loved to be around last year when we worked at the history of the last 1500 years!

I'm not much in the history of that time, so I have a question - who elects the king, when he dies without heir - the council of Voldar along with the nobility?

Then there is one thing which - well, what I might have written differently ;) :

You name always sons first, then daughters - is this meant as the order they were born? Or does always the first son inherit the throne? After those two great Queens (Jenefra and Katya)?. All following rulers are kings, no Queen (and if it would only be a widow following her husband) in between.

Let's say, we keep it as you have it - even then I would assume, that the queens have some more influence (not just the hidden one, the bonds they tie or the quarrel they sow, not just things like that they befriend the wife of a difficult noble or quarrel with said wife who brings her husband to act differently than what he would have done without the meddling of his wife ), that one acted public, maybe conciliating between two quarreling parties (doing a spectacular ride from one to another party) - or the opposite. She is from a noble family as well which might want to have influence through her.. etc. It could even be the case, that one doesn't like her husband and is actting against him, first in a hidden way, then openly? so far their only purpose is to get children - and as I said, after two so noble queens not what I expect from the women there...

I think you know now at what I'm aiming?  :) ;)  buck

Hi Talia,

Thank you for your comments and questions.  I think there is definitely a lot to discuss here.  :)

To answer your first question:

Quote
I'm not much in the history of that time, so I have a question - who elects the king, when he dies without heir - the council of Voldar along with the nobility?

When I read through the entry on the Voldarian Ruling Council and the Erpheronian entry, it looks like this ruling council would have the majority of influence on who is elected king.  I did some thinking though, and when I considered how physically big and diverse Erpheronia is, and the amount of influence that other major centres would have (like Nyermersys, Accam, Astran, Jernais, etc.) it makes more sense that the Ruling Council would need to have some representation from all these other areas.  So I proposed the council and representatives from each area of Erpheronia (I just lumped them into duchies) would make decisions like this.

To respond to your second point:

Quote
You name always sons first, then daughters - is this meant as the order they were born? Or does always the first son inherit the throne? After those two great Queens (Jenefra and Katya)?. All following rulers are kings, no Queen (and if it would only be a widow following her husband) in between.

I think you're right.  When I read the Erpheronian entry, it says that males took leadership roles for the most part.  However, it does also say that after the time of Jenefra and Katya, that a shift in the patriarchical way of thinking occurs.  What I need to do is go back to my proposed historical timeline, and suggest some alternatives (perhaps some Queens could inherit the throne - I admit, that all the sons were named first, but it isn't realistic that every firstborn child was a male).  Also, we should definitely increase the "visibility" of the Queens during this time period.

Awesome comments Talia, and lots of food for thought!!  :D

Okay,

A few, but big, modifications made.  I've included some repeat names - as mentioned, I love the name, Ephonovor.  Also, I've made some changes so some women ascended to the Erpheronian throne.  Likely there will be some discussion here, however, the precedent has been set, and the Erpheronian entry does mention that females after the time of Jenefra and Katya did rise to positions of power.

Let me know what you think - hopefully this will add an interesting twist to the timeline.   :)

Much better now ;)  (says the feminist in me)

Do you plan to change more - in the second half? Looks a bit like you just stopped editing after the part where "research" has be done. Could Artimidor upload it, or maybe half of it ? Would be enough work as well.

Thanks Talia!

I do plan to finish up the two monarchs that are missing.  I will write up full entries for each of them.  However, my big plan is to continue even further with the timeline.  Two months from now, I plan to have the entry run from 822 b.S. to as close to 1 b.S.   This may be a tall order, but hey - I've already done close to 600 years of Erpheronian monarchs.   :)   ;)

I think the first part of the timeline can be uploaded.

Can we clone him and send a prototype to each continent?

I almost wish I had a twin.  But then I might have to worry about which one was evil.  Me?  Or my twin?   shocked  Sorry - it's late.  I'll thwack myself.   fish

Just don't get too close - I'm armed with a fish and who knows what I might do...   :P

Had to laugh when I got to the end and saw that Art had posted what I was thinking. Wow, jaw drop.
But I also wanted to tell you that even though I had read some of the stories already, it definitely helped to bring life to the histories seeing it summarized and put in a time line. This is very nice, especially for newbies still trying to figure things out.

Yeah, I love these descriptions here and am happy to see that you still have even further plans, Trel! Should I be free this weekend and get a site update done, I will see to integrate the first part you mention :) - Until which ruler do you suggest it is safe to prepare?

Thanks for the compliments everyone!   :)  I'm glad the timeliine helps Drucilla!!

Art, I think we're safe to prepare up to and including Caeth the Child King (1081
to 1035 b.S.).

I'm amazed you can see the Altario projects pile considering it is dwarfed by my unfinished projects. For which I apologise.
