I must be really stupid. I've been wandering round the rooms for a good hour now, and all I've found is a knife. I can't pick up anything else, nor can I open/unlock anything.

Erm... Never been to the basement for example? There aren't that many rooms that you could miss the basement stairs... As far as I remember that area isn't locked. You should try to follow the leads where the story directs you if you examine everything... There are always hints on how to progress.

I can't go into the basement either, it just tells me that I cannot go south from here. I found nothing else except the knife, was looking for a ... to open .., I can't go north or up either. And I clicked every item clickable, read everthing, did even some notes on paper to not miss something, coloured the space where I have been..

:(

Another thing . Why should I have eaten up that supper?

Why should you go south at the stairs to the basement? The only possible way is down as is shown on the map. I suggest to use the command DOWN.

Ah! Seems I'm not familiar with your game, didn't know, that these arrows meant down .. and possibly up.

I did go into the cellar area on my first play, Art. Unfortunately, I was blinded to the other rooms down there due to my extreme stupidity!

I've just played the whole game through to the end, and I offer my hearty congratulations to all concerned with the project. Like Judy, I too realised in the 'bedroom scene' what was to come, but the way in which the 'reveal' was handled made it worth the wait.

I hope this was your way of testing out some new systems, with which you intend to create even more games?

I said I am unfamiliar with your games ;)  I read that introduction a while ago, but obviously forgot the up and down signs.

An entertaining hour, I didn't expect the outcome.

What irritated me in the begining a little, was the abrupt beginning - if you don't read the "about uninvited" first, there it is clear that you are in an old house..

Wow, that was really great :)
The sounds scared the bejessus out of me >_<
Really, a fantastic fright, and on a perfectly sunny day at one in the afternoon, too! I'll have to play this again... TONIGHT! bwhahahaha.

Just noticed that due to some final changes I made this afternoon that the background music wasn't loaded when you started the game for a few hours, so if you asked yourself if there isn't any music, then that was an unfortunate mistake. It's now fixed! It always takes a while until everything runs the way it should on the server...

The end credits now need to be explicitly turned off, so that's done, also the RETURN button doesn't appear anymore one you're in the Module menu. The RETURN command will also be eliminated in a similar way soon (when it doesn't make sense to do it), but we need to update the program for that.

@Tharoc: Admit, you were trembling with fear in that cellar, that's why you didn't want to go any step further...

@Talia: Well, yeah, it's a bit of an abrupt start, but if I write a short story I also don't explain everything in detail at the beginning. But when it progresses the player surely gets the idea I think.

@Nsiki: Well, playing it at one o'clock in the afternoon is lame... :P But admittedly, some sounds even get me even though I know that it comes right now... lol

@Judy: As you can see I used some material of yours to realize the story - hope the usage was adequate. Didn't want to give anything away beforehand, otherwise it would have spoiled the fun.

If we can do something similar with 3d programs etc. as you mention, remains to be seen. As you need to get the light done correctly, the pictures need to fit together etc. So it's been a lot of work to accumulate these pictures and the dozens of sounds to make this happen, there's a lot of work involved in this rather short thingy.

However, as you can see, some pictures are actually animated, and I needed to do certain cuts to get things across like in a movie. And you always have to consider that the person playing it doesn't press Continue... when you actually thought that he/she should do it. The problem is that unlike in a real movie you cannot place sounds exactly to play on a certain moment at a certain background theme, so from that results the way some things need to be done - and it's all a certain compromise.

This project wasn't too large, and it was doable, and the special effects limited as well, so that's why I did it. Also because I thought the plot is cool, the interactivity perfect for this one and it can be Santhariarized at key points. Sometimes you just need to follow through.

But if there are similar ideas of using a 3d environment and a storyline, we can surely give similar things a try :D

Hello all! It's been a minute since I poked my nose in here. Can't remember if I ever did anything useful.

Ah, too bad that internet is so restricted in China, Ferra. Can't be much fun surfing the web that way if Big Brother's watching you... Hope you enjoy your stay nevertheless!

Hi, dear Arti and other developers!

This year I am in China and cannot use any Google services including YouTube. For this reason I stopped uploading new Nepris videos. I can also not read any comments there.

It just crossed my mind that this information might be useful to you.

Cheers

Short note: We had a bit of downtime Friday/Saturday night due to a server change. Site went online first, message boards took a while longer - now everything should be back to normal.
