I was wondering if it would be possible to seperate the frogs and toads out of the mollusc and other crab-like creatures category and give them their own little sub menu?  There seem to be a good number of them now(far more then there are in other sub windows, so it seems logical to me.)  Also, on a completely seperate note, Mira's Oloy, which is an aquatic mammal is currently listed in the mollusc category rather then the aquatic mammals one.

I'm guessing we could have an 'amphibian' section. Which can cater for all kinds of creatures which live between in water to swampy areas.. There's a couple of creatures that could fill such a class

what about a Santharian name for amphibians? obviously it would have to be clear enough that a non-Tharian could tell what was meant, but amphibian seems such a scientific term?

On a similar note, the Gryph is not listed under Flying creatures (I can never find it unless I use the Sort by Alphabet button) and perhaps the Council Tree could be added to places, as well as to the Brownies where it is listed now?

As for a Santharian name for amphibians, here's some suggestions:

--Bielement beasts (or bi-element, if you prefer that spelling)

--Double breathers

--Landwater animals

--Hydraeros

--Gillungs or Lungills (breathing with both gills and lungs)

That's just off the top of my head, maybe someone can come up with something better (though I personally kind of like "Bielement beasts", or "Gillungs" myself.)

Personally, I think amphibian works fine.  It is a word that has been in use since the middle ages.  Plus, we use reptiles for reptiles, birds for birds and mammals for mammals, canines for canines.  So why confuse the issue needlessly.  For classification sake, I suggest leaving the real life names so that people looking up these creatures in the compendium who are not members of the development team can do so so easilly.  It just confuses the issue simply so we can invent some cutesy name for it.

Individual tribes/races can have names that are specific to them to name/classify these creatures, but I think on the whole, calling reptiles reptiles, and amphibians amphibians is probably best.

Yeah, we have to think about how people here search something actually try to find it. If you're not familiar with Santharian terminology you'd have no idea what "Hydraeros" could mean, you know.

Also, to make menu changes I'd need a list of exact allocations of beasts to the various categories. I said that already before, but menu changes are a lot of work, and it need to be perfectly clear what we want to have where before I get to it. Menu changes should also be contained, which means that we shouldn't move everything around dramatically. Concrete suggestions are needed.

Oloy is already listed in mammals in addition to being incorrectly listed in Molluscs

A-ha, indeed... The full categories list has the oloy on the the correct position, so it's just wrong in the Molluscs sub-branch...

So any objections to this suggested division?

I'm amazed you can see the Altario projects pile considering it is dwarfed by my unfinished projects. For which I apologise.
