I propose that the Brownies become the Accountants and Financial Wizzes of Santharia!

They could even have a guild called the Bead Counters Guild.

Would this Guild concern the Milkens? I like this idea Dek.

I like this idea as well.

After all, gnomes are generally known as alchemists and engineers--brownies might serve as great accountants!

You won't find many Brownies living among humans, let alone working among them as accountants, due to their size. Most Brownies keep to themselves so you wouldn't find a Brownie counter among any major cities. They may be talented in this regard, but only among their own tribe. It would be far easier to find a gnomish counter if you really needed one.

No, I would not want to live in a world without dragons, as I would not want to live in a world without magic, for that is a world without mystery, and that is a world without faith. And that, I fear, for any reasoning, conscious being, would be the cruelest trick of all.

... Don't Rat Brownies specifically live in major cities?

Technically, they live -below- mayor cities... and you wouldn't want to employ those mongrel mutants if your life depended on it. The Milken are the only Brownies that i know of that have enough interaction with humans to actually do something so specific. And you only have those in Milkengrad.

Just my two sans .... Physiologically speaking a Brownie would be small enough to count blades of grass in passing. Hence they would be geared towards numerical details a human would pass with little concern. A mental disposition in this regard?

I discussed the idea further with Eldor/Sylvia in IRC.

Basically, the idea was just centered around the Brownies of the Milken Clan ... as they do live and work around the humans of that city, as I understand the entry on that clan and they have guilds as Eldor has worked on recently. Because, as Azhira said the other Brownies don't have many/any dealings with the larger races.

Oh ... and by the way ... the idea mostly started off as a play on words regarding the propensity for people on earth to call accountants Bean Counters. As Brownies already deal with beads ... I thought it was an interesting link/suggestion/idea. aka it was a joke primarily.

Sorry for the delayed reply, I was away visiting various relatives :).

I like this idea, although I agree it would probably be limited to the Milken Clan in Milkengrad. (Rat Brownies are generally pretty wild, uncooperative, uncivilised...and they can't count.)  However, isn't that town a hub for trade from all areas of santharia?  This would mean there was definitely enough business to support a good-sized clan in Milkengrad, and all the traders visiting the city could then spread the idea/stereotype of Brownie Accountants.  After all, Milken are by far the most visible Brownies for most people, and traders would be likely to use their services.  Inhabitants of New Santhala or Eyelians might think differently, as they get a fair amount of trade from the Llaoihr, but other places could have this slightly inaccurate stereotype!  Hehe.

Hello all! It's been a minute since I poked my nose in here. Can't remember if I ever did anything useful.

Ah, too bad that internet is so restricted in China, Ferra. Can't be much fun surfing the web that way if Big Brother's watching you... Hope you enjoy your stay nevertheless!

Hi, dear Arti and other developers!

This year I am in China and cannot use any Google services including YouTube. For this reason I stopped uploading new Nepris videos. I can also not read any comments there.

It just crossed my mind that this information might be useful to you.

Cheers

Short note: We had a bit of downtime Friday/Saturday night due to a server change. Site went online first, message boards took a while longer - now everything should be back to normal.
