Basic Overview of the Beast
Greater Scobs, also called Mok in Nybelmar, are huge, scorpion like amphibious creatures. Their three ped length, one ped width, and fearsome mace tail make them formidable beasts, and their dexterity and poison-producing qualities don't exactly do anything to help offset this reputation. Despite the Scobs' aggressiveness, very few people have actually been killed by these monstrous beasts. They live in coastal areas of southern Sarvonia and a very small area of Southern Nybelmar. The Scobs' five sensitive eye slits and feelers give them an excellent awareness of their surroundings, which they utilise when hunting. The Greater Scobs' exoskeletons trap enough air to let them float, and their giant pincers allow them to catch huge fish while they swim with their eight spindly legs.

   Appearance
A detailed description of what the beast looks like. Everything from size, in peds, to bone structure. I stress the 'detailed' part, put in as much detail as possible. This doesn't mean make it as long as possible, go for quality over quantity.

If you need measures and weights in order to describe your beast, please refer to the general Measures and Weight tables.

   Special Abilities
Do these creatures have any sort of special abilities? Able to withstand extreme cold, run very fast, things like that. And if they do, then how do they do this? A specific muscle structure, or extra fat layer?

   Territory
Where are they found? Check out the map section, do some research on the differen't places, and make the best choice on what you find. A creature with thick fur? Probably somewhere cold. That type of thing.

   Habitat/Behavior
If you were to see these creatures, what kinds of things would they be doing? Challenging the pack leader for control, or wandering by itself? Get into as much detail as you can.

   Diet
What do your creatures eat? And if they eat a lot, what is their favorite food? Also make sure that what they eat can be found where they live, otherwise it just isn't practical

   Mating
What are their mating behaviors or rituals? Do they mate at all? Is there maybe some sort of dance? Which gender is the aggressor usually? Again, detail.

   Myth/Lore/Origin (Optional)
Do they come from anywhere special? Applicable e.g. at supernatural creatures like demons, ghosts, spirits etc.

   Researchers (Optional)
Any noted researchers on these creatures?

   Usages (Optional)
In case products or parts of this animal (like milk, hide etc.) have a special use, let us know who uses them, where and why.

   Anything Else (Optional)
Can you think of any details to make this even better?

I must say I’m thoroughly intrigued by the concept of floating by trapping air pockets within its exoskeleton, though the idea will require quite some brainstorming and thorough working out. Generally there is a smooth transition from exo skeleton to the body of the creature, so it seems hard to put a free open space in there where air can be trapped. On the other hand, thinking about turtles: the outs ends of their caparace usually curves upward, so that it doesn’t form an impediment when travelling over land. What now would happen if we turn these edges around so that they curve downwards, sort of forming a hollow ring of air around the scorpion when it places itself straight onto the water surface?

Such an idea would not only give the scorpion an interesting ritual of carefully placing itself upon the water, but would also grant it a disadvantage when on water. Might just be me, but I always think a great beast is best when there is a disadvantage or weakness to it. It just makes the whole being of said creature more ferocious but at the same time balanced.

So there’s a thought for the whole amphibious aspect of the creature. I’ll be around my room, scribbling this and that on parchments and occasionally dabbling with some paint, so whenever you advance just give us a shout and I’ll be back to read on about the Scob ^^

Perhaps it has a skeleton in addition to an exoskeleton, or a double exoskeleton. Then, the exoskeleton could work like some kind of shell.

Here and there, whole mighty trees glowed with an emitted phosphorescent light. You could trace the very course of the great roots in the earth by a faint light that came through; and every twig, and every vein on every leaf was a streak of pale fire.

Indeed, sparkle, that was the general idea. It traps the air between two exoskeletons, except one is more like an endoskeleton, but it is on the outside of the fleshy bits and inside another skeleton, so perhaps I should call it an endoexoskeleton.

Hello all! It's been a minute since I poked my nose in here. Can't remember if I ever did anything useful.

Ah, too bad that internet is so restricted in China, Ferra. Can't be much fun surfing the web that way if Big Brother's watching you... Hope you enjoy your stay nevertheless!

Hi, dear Arti and other developers!

This year I am in China and cannot use any Google services including YouTube. For this reason I stopped uploading new Nepris videos. I can also not read any comments there.

It just crossed my mind that this information might be useful to you.

Cheers
