Valan has been reading his copy of the Hobbit a little too often of late, and I've noticed: No riddles in the Dream?
Perhaps then, we should write some. Write a riddle, make it Santharian. By all means, beg, borrow, barter and outright steal them from elsewhere, but make sure the answers/riddles have a bit of Santharian feel to them yes? And make sure you have an answer. If another answer seems better, by all means, add it.
I'm going to borrow one from the old riddles thread.

At the beginning of the world, a mother gave birth to four sons.
The first ran and never tired,
the second ate and was never sated,
the third drank and his thirst was never slaked
and the fourth tried to sing but could only howl.
Now tell me, what were their names?

Water runs and is never tired, fire consumes but is always hungry, earth drinks but is always dry, the wind can only howl.

I'm guessing just from the four sons motif and the making of world bit that they're the Titans.

EDIT: Reading the note I feel justified in this.

Rivers run but never tire,
What eats always but a fire?
Earth can drink all topers down,
Wind will howl the chimneys round.

Here's a riddle from the Bard / she won't make it overly hard:

A great eater is this thing,
Munching plate and bridle ring.
Slays sharp swords or shields alike,
Yet never a fighter in the fight.
Water and salt do aid him well,
But no one tastes of what I tell.
Ruddy of face, a page's disgrace,
All weak warriors will him blame...
What can be this devourer's name?

Another:

In and out the white fields I go.  Sharp is my nose, and a long tail also.  Where you rend, I will mend.  Say, maiden, what can I be?

And one more:

A sturdy casket of green / protects my tiny treasure / misers and spendthrifts alike / find me all their pleasure / then call for more ale / without any fail!

my guess is "rust"

Sorry, no other riddles coming from my side, I only know the ones that everyone already knows :)

And the second one would be "needle" ^.^

The third one I'll leave for someone else :D (meaning: I don't know :P)

An aura for your brilliance, Irid!   The third one is uniquely Santharian (meaning, check the Herbarium.....)   :)

Is it Malsapple, fruit of the Malus Tree, which produces Apple Ale?

I'm not sure how that guarantees this part though: "find me all their pleasure / then call for more ale / without any fail!" Is it because to say 'apple ale', one always needs to say ('call out') 'ale' after 'apple'?

Bravo, brave riddlewinners!   Rust, Needle, and Malsapple are all correct.

Waiiiiiit!   (Bard staggers back with a pile of Unfinished Projects so high her arms are trembling)  Let me stuff mine in there before you lock the room!  *looks guiltily around and snatches the Quenyss parchment off the top of the stack*
