I love this Valan, I want a turtle now!

ANd Judith, the picture is amazing! The water, the background, the ships, I love everything about it.

I'm thinking that the person tossing fishing nets over the side of their ship is gonna be a bit more than surprised when they start hauling in a turtle with a ship on its back.

It is a very big turtle.

So, Judith's by-proxy comment about the training should be dealt with now.
Anything else?

As Carserrian Gopags start out as eggs the size of other Gopags, how long does it take for them to reach the gigantic size they are in order to take a ship on their shells?  At what age does the training begin?

I would suggest that the training starts BEFORE they get an entire hull bolted down.  That way any rogues or untrainables or dull Gopags don't wind up running off with/wasting the materials.   Perhaps there would be 'training hulls' like training saddles, so the creature becomes used to the sensation and learns that when the hull is bolted on it may not dive?  Do they come off and on relatively easily, or does the bolted animal remain 'in harness' for the rest of its life?  Is there some other signal that could be given so that the creature can hunt for itself freely, even with a hull on?  Does it never hunt freely again (requires a LOT of handy food on demand otherwise....)

A number of questions to answer here, but worth it, I think....

What the crap Bard?  Now your hiding your best pictures in the middle of other people's threads.  grin

That turtle ship is awesome.  And its not just the turtle, you have really mastered water, making the fins dip in and appear underwater.  However what really caught my eye were those boats.  So much detail they must have taken a while. I will definitely be finding a way to use those in the next Santhworld installment.

So this really deserves Aura. +1

Sorry Valan, I am sure the entry is great too, but to be honest I have not yet read it.  I will read it and comment on the words that inspired this great pic.

Thank you, Seeker!  Your praise means a lot, the more so as I'm sick as a dog today and dragging myself from couch to computer (thankfully the Kitkat is on winter vacation as well and taking good care of her mom today!)

I was going to suggest floats or buoys that could physically prevent the gopag from diving - but then I wouldn't want anything in Judy's picture changed for a million sans. So I'm not going to suggest it.

A small figure climbs up on top of the Gopag and begins signalling quite emphatically with a pair of placards. One appears to have a blue arrow on it, and the other a question mark.

Whatever could it mean?

I am pleased it is going well for you though Seeker ... can't wait to try it and die. :D
18 May 2012, 09:35:13
No, I didn't Seeker. :( I think it is Master Anfang who is doing the testing
