Seth, thank-you for the kind words and encouragement!  Your suggestions for myth and lore are intriguing.  I'll see what I can come up with.  I agree that it could help to express the way in which they are understood by the simple folk, or to give a new layer to that understanding.  Your chemical warfare idea cracked me up! lol  I'd love to use it, but it would be tough because they are too toxic to be handled.  Maybe there's a wizard who keeps a flock, handling them magically from a distance?  They'd make a great tear gas bomb!

Ta'lia, please be patient! It will take a while for me to process your suggestions.  How far north does your territory go?

Azhira, I wasn't sure if you were on board with my working on the Dead Wing, so I made a different critter.  If you'd like me to take a shot at it, however, I'd be happy to do so.  I do have a couple of other ideas I'd like to try first, however.

Jacob, have I been impatient? Not that I can see any sign of it....

Well, from the deep South up to the Tandalas and beyond till the extreme North?  grin

No way to avoid me, now that you caught my attention  :D

As I said, you are welcome to place them in the Ráhaz-Dáth, in the Lands of Pain e.g., nesting at its Northern border, the Southern slopes of the Nirmenith Mountains. The Shendar would probably not use them as means for warfare though.

As I said, I miss so far the integration into Santharia. You could create a link, if you mention/compare them to another creature which smells awfully, the Krrrroa'haxpattl.

Another thought occurred to me in the last days - why have they not spread farther north? If they can live in the Tandalas, they could live in the Imlith mountains also, and Northern Sarvonia is less populated than Southern Sarvonia. Not that I like it if people say, that their beasts live all over Caelereth, I'm always for a restricted territory, but the question arose nevertheless, why thy did not spread to the north (an illness?)

To the death wing  - I don't know of course, what you have in mind, but thinking about your stink bird, it would for me make much more sense to place it there. Its abilities (spitting toxic) would be of much greater use there than in Santharia. There may be even beasts which are not capable of smelling, so might be good predators.

Have you already read up Azhira's terrible mists? I'm a proud Shendar adventurer, but I  think I will never get close this region! (I admire Seeker, our painter, who did!)

Not Eight Winds Bay though please, between the Greater Hooded Trolog (/me sighs ... something else to finish) and the Terror of the Bay (cross between Giant Kraken and some other sea monster) I think Eight Winds Bay has enough dangerous things around ... or else the elves would never have come there.

Hey Jacob,

I hope you're still around? I would really love to see this, um, redolent  dicky bird described and on site. It's such a great idea - and I'm sure a territory can and will be found. If you're stuck and have questions, please don't be shy to ask!

Maybe you're just busy or taking a break, and that's of course okay. I simply wanted to let you know that your entry is not forgotten. :)

Happy dreaming,

Shabakuk
