I'm not actually going to finish this one. Just posting what I have so far in case Rayne wishes to take over where I left. :)

QUESTIONS:
1)
We need a short-hand name for ‘the Ximaxian system’. I adopted the one Shabakuk used in the witchraft entry, namely: ‘Ximaxianism’, as a place-holder. What do we want Ximaxian magic to be known as?

THE XIMAXIAN SYSTEM

Overview
The Ximaxian System is the secular, scientific study of magic, which interprets the world through the four elements: Wind, Earth, Water, Fire. Ximaxian magic is based on the car’all (magical aura), the four elements of which it is composed, and the connections between these elements. This view is very flexible; few things are inherently impossible under the system. Magic-users are limited by means: A fire mage cannot extinguish a fire by conjuring up water. However, he can extinguish it by manipulating the flame itself. Hence, the system is not necessarily limited in ends, except for the individual limitations of the casters.

Ximaxianism strives to understand and decipher magic through logic, with the aim of constructing a methodology that can be used to produce reproducible effects. The Ximaxian System stands for the principle that what the untrained individual can achieve but unconsciously, haphazardly, the trained mage can learn to achieve consciously, deliberately, by training his will to concentrate on the car’all, its configurations, and its manipulation.

Thus, the Ximaxian System trains the mind to control what it cannot directly perceive. Ximaxian theory teaches that the mage has to impose his/her will on the car’all to create effects (and that the mastery of one’s will is an important precondition for casting magic.) It emphasizes the importance of concentration to achieve controlled manipulation of the car’all. Accordingly, Ximaxian training focuses on concentration and control, and the calm execution of the will.

Ximaxianism is practiced in the United Kingdom of Santharia of the Sarvonian continent. It originated from and is taught at the Academy of Ximax in the Xaramon Province of Santharia.

Prevalence (Territory)
Ximaxian Magic is practiced mainly by humans and the Volkek-Oshra tribe of orcs in the United Kingdom of Santharia of Southern Sarvonia. It is taught primarily at the Academy of Ximax at the province of Xaramon.

Looks like since you're officially on leave you're more active than ever, Coren... lol

Anyway, on the subject matter: We could use a word that sounds somewhat sophisticated to express the intellectual approach of the Ximaxian wizards. I always liked the term "Thaumaturgy" (see Wikipedia entry) which means many different things, from miracle-working to just casting magic, or, as a quote in this article states

Quote
The word was first anglicized and used in the magical sense in John Dee's book Mathematicall Praeface to Euclid's Elements (1570). He mentions an "art mathematical" called "thaumaturgy... which giveth certain order to make strange works, of the sense to be perceived and of men greatly to be wondered at."

In a way the definition given there comes close to what Ximaxians see in magic: A kind of mathematical approach of the mind to recreate a order. Now if we combine Ximax with thaumaturgy to have both meaning in there we get something like, say, Ximathurgy, which I think also sounds pretty neat. So how about that?

Hello all! It's been a minute since I poked my nose in here. Can't remember if I ever did anything useful.

Ah, too bad that internet is so restricted in China, Ferra. Can't be much fun surfing the web that way if Big Brother's watching you... Hope you enjoy your stay nevertheless!

Hi, dear Arti and other developers!

This year I am in China and cannot use any Google services including YouTube. For this reason I stopped uploading new Nepris videos. I can also not read any comments there.

It just crossed my mind that this information might be useful to you.

Cheers

Short note: We had a bit of downtime Friday/Saturday night due to a server change. Site went online first, message boards took a while longer - now everything should be back to normal.
