Overview:
During the year 1639 a skirmish somewhere within the borders of Milkengrad was fought, against a criminal force led by Zharock the savage. Nearly 150 men found their deaths that day, dealing a heavy blow towards the uprising criminality in some regions of the city. Zharock the savage, the cunning and combat-focussed leader fell, yet only to be avenged some weeks later, when assassins and well trained criminal warriors invaded the city-garrison and took revenge on authority. The criminals had to pay for this assault with their lives.

Origin:

Imagine a life outside the law, A life where only the rule of cunning and survival of the strongest, most sharp edged people prevail. An ongoing battle against the royal guard of the duke, To keep your identity secret at all costs… A life that could end every minute of the day. To live only during night time, and always keep yourself covered or hidden for the ongoing patrols of suspicious city-guards. To hide you business, to live as a thief, a smuggler, conspirator or a mercenary hired for the purpose to defend that particular cause.
Imagine a developed underground system with endless connections hidden from even each other.
And finally imagine conflicts, endless ongoing fete’s between rivalling gangs for various reasons… Assassins and other mysterious characters only raised, brought up, grown into the world to shape their personalities trough these conflicts….

The Thieves underground are for a fact known to exist, Yet towards which extend nobody knows….Nobody has but an clue of how big and elaborated the underground system goes. At least… not many do.

From the Thieves Underground; a bold, merciless organisation formed to exploit the people of the city.
The organisation grew, and became more ruthless every year, Until at some point they crossed the line and began to pillage openly, Swift and dangerous strikes at small neighbour towns with dozens of men, sometimes even followed by public assassinations. For years they remained just out of the duke’s reach, always one step ahead.
Zharock the Savage, the strong and independent chief of the rogue’s had build the reward on his head enormously, And even tough he managed to survive for quite some time, a betrayal from one of his own men would lead to his death, and the death of many more criminals and royal warriors alike.
A bloody skirmish at Zharock’s very own camp-site crushed the criminal battle-force. This event would not be the end of the tale, No another final disastrous strike led towards the death of the public hero: Demion Gulath. The commander responsible for tracking Zharock down and dealing the critical blow….

A general belief is that it took quite some time to get wound up in such circumstances, Possibly several generations of criminal focussed gangleaders who perfected their profession  yet one ambitious rotten apple of the society with higher ambitions, would become the end of these organisations.

History:

1615 – (-nothing yet--)

1621 – During Zharock’s first raid he burned buildings, killed six guards and was also blamed for the death of Vanessa, Mother of a child and wife to Demion Gulath. The young, Well promising luitenant Demion swore revenge and this motivator helped him in prevailing justice in whatever district he came.

1621 – 1626 – During this period Zharock possibly perfected his strategy in avoiding the hunting law enforcement, as Demion became quite troublesome, attaching towards the savage’s tail

1626-1630 – Rivalling criminal clan’s are slain publicly by Zharock’s force; for a unknown fete that played in the underworld, Several criminals strikes troughout the years including several raids and assassinations increase in numbers.

1630 – Demion finally finds a trail of Zharock, and captures/ kills some of his men. Zharock takes revenge by kidnapping Demion’s son.

1636 – Zharock’s strikes rapidly increase and with that he becomes more careless, Zharock becomes a torn in the duke’s eyes and the people of the city begin to fear him,.. Demion gets more men assigned.

1638 Demion finally finds out about the current criminal’s location, and a bloody skirmish is fought at Zharock’s encampment. Zharock finds his death during that conflict.

Okay, some questions spooked trough my mind,... There are forests at that island which is occupied by Milkingrad,.. right? Because i need Zharock to have a base of operations hidden somewhere where he could train his men, and share the spoils (aka robin hood style)...

I am also not sure if there is a duke, I might be have to change that,..

Hmmm, and i was wondering if you people had any comments on this which could complicate my entry...

I gave some rough outlines, i might adjust a bit, and add some more in-depth, But i will not elaborate on the persons in it (demion, Zharock etc.) Because that would be meant for another entry...

Hmmm wat sections should i add?

A people section? Or more of a research section?...

Darien, it is up to Curgan to decide if he wants to something like this, but generally inventing smaller parts  of history before the big line is set is always problematic.

Here I am!

It is always hard to design minor incidents before the main frame is ready. However, I am sure that a couple of centuries sooner or earlier will solve this problem.

Some general notes:
The governor of Milkengrad is called Anactar (male) or Anactara (female).

Such gangs could exist in a time of general decline, since the Milkengradians are usualy very firm with law enforcement and most of them carry weapons and are not hesitant to use them. So major robberies inside Milkengrad would be very hard to be successful.

There is a history of clan animosity among the Helcrani, so some gangs could have a racial background as well. And racial turmoil is very easy to spread among the Milkengradians (plus the citizens would support their gangsmen kin)

Milkengrad has some forests. Have in mind however that the entry and exit of the island is completely controlled by the goverment, who have fortified the two bridges and control the waters.

Hope I was of some help...

Curgan

Okay... after some busyness on the other board i decided to jump back towards this. I want this to work somehow...

The aurorafields, are under the protection of the city? The many villages there are harder to protect... Could i have this played a bit in- and around Milkingrad? I willing to use corruption higher up the ranks and many other creative stuff...

point is, i'd like this to be around the current timeline i have currently mentioned. I want to expand my own history of a good story into this.

(with more entries that are linked to this event) I plan to involve a mystran, necromancers (tha blackbloods), strange prophets, famous assassins and i am also working on a story to put in the library (allready have 12 chapters, and grun is helping me with the grammar part). I am inspired by my own RP-ing and want to finish this whole thing with my Darién char going into the history books. But still some work to do yet...

How do you like it if i use Milkengrad a bit as primary setting?

The Aurora fields in the timeline we are interested are a part of the Vardynn province. The "principality" of Milkengrad occupies just the island of Efirhal and the fortresses that protect it (the Ptoliedhra). The other Helcrani self governed province under the Vardynian viceroy is Helcrah. The Aurora's are under Vardynian control.

As for the area around Milkengrad see the newly made map. As for the Aurora's check the relevant entry a bit, since there is a special situation there concerning the nomadic population and the (relatively few) permanent residents. However, the Aurora's are a place suitable for bandits, but they could not enter the Efirhal Island then since the Golden Bridge is guarded by a fort and the coastline is not fit for sailing except some specific spots (continentall shores too high).

As far as you might have already understood I am positive on the idea as long as it fits with the historical context (and -I may add- leaves options for developing the future and the past).

Always at your disposal
