Okay, this is meant to be *the* official beginning of the general timeline for Nybelmar! I take responsibility for editing the changes in for this age and maybe you could do the Age of Myths, Smith, heh?

I haven't done many changes to the timeline on the Nybelmar board except correcting tenses and grammar and pulling the different histories together.

Separate timelines for each race should follow when the general timeline is agreed upon.

Request: Please keep the colours of the captions (though not necessarily the same ones!) when you upload the entry as it will make it a lot easier to get a general glimpse of what each race was up to. Thanks!

Without further ado:

1. The Age of Silence (unknown to 5500 bS)

- I don’t like this name – not really befitting to the Age imho. Also the Sarvonian “Age of Silence” extends all the way to 3400bS, so that would give rise to some confusion.

There are only sparse records from this era and indeed many scholars today discard them as elven mythology rather than actual historical facts. Only the elves of Nybelmar still mention these times. For all the other races this is too ancient an age to be of any consequence; in fact not even the mythology of the shorter-lived races contain any mention of an “Age of Silence” (name needs to go!) Human history is accepted to begin with the Dark War of Nybelmar.

1.1 Beginnings
The East
Elves

The West
Unknown

?-15000 b.S The Era of Harmony
The Kayr are possibly part of the Astyrhim and part of those elves later on becoming woodelves. Nothing is known about this age and the little that is, is not much more than myth.

15000 b.S.-12000 b.S. The Era of Bartering
The Kaýr start to form their own faction among the elves. They see the concept of Fá'áv'cál'âr as the wrong way to reinstall the Dream. In their eyes Coór has already sown his dark seeds and the elves should thus keep pure by following what they've learnt under the Tree of Life. They wander off into regions far away from Fá'áv'cál'âr, seeking their own way to the truth of the Dream – calling themselves Taeánrhim.

12000 b.S.-10000 b.S. The Era of the Anvil
The dream of Fá'áv'cál'âr has ended. The races scatter over the lands and some of the elves flee to the Taeánrhim. While elves in other regions suffer under the pressure of the other, short aged races, the Emerald Woods grow into a second elven realm outside the Thaelon and reach a similar glory as Fá'áv'cál'âr, though never striving for anything as impertinent as claiming to unite the races.

1.2. The Dark War
- Do we have no (rough) times for the events of this age?

The East
Elves
Dwarves
Humans
Orcs

The West
Unknown

1.2a The Arrival of Menemronn
Following a savage war raging on the rest of the world (which can be identified with the War of the Chosen from a Sarvonian perspective), a dark and powerful wizard arrives in Nybelmar. He is credited with the creation of the eastern volcanic mountains known today as Ehebion, or Eferán’ypheró (in the elvish tongue). He is also supposed to have caused, by magical means, the separation of Nybelmar from a larger landmass.

[Note: Up to the first arrival of Sarvonians, all the Nybelmarian nations assumed that Nybelmar was the only continent still standing in the world.]

1.2.b The Unholy Alliance
Menemronn manages to enslave various tribes (humans, elves and orcs alike) and starts to wage war against anyone that was still resisting him. Much of the Nybelmarian forests are burned to the ground and soon all the continent is threatened to fall under his will. A lot of beasts that still roam this continent are created by this dark wizard and. Above all, he creates the brutal Chyrakisth, half elves and half orcs, to serve as his unholy soldiers.

1.2.c The Shadow War
The Taeánrhim elves manage to rally their forces and they forge a new alliance with the few remaining human and dwarven tribes. They take the war to Eferán’ypheró and defeat the dark wizard. Following this victory the tribes scatter across the eastern continent, trying to rebuild their homes.

The shape of Nybelmar changes terribly. Where once vast forests were, now wide, barren hills arise. The movement of the continent raises wavy hills into a nearly impassable mountain range (The Zsharkonians) within only a few centuries. The west of Nybelmar is utterly destroyed by the forces of the war as well.

After the war is won the Taeánrhim begin to rebuild the forests and the destroyed lands, they are betrayed by a human named Kyras the Dark and lose faith in all other tribes but the Korweynite humans who continue to fight the evil seeds of Coór.

1.3 The First Nations
The East
Elves
Chyrakisth
Dwarves
Humans

The West
Humans
Orcs

The East

9000 b.S. The Dwarves take a heavy toll
The War of the Chosen is hard on the two Nybelmarian dwarven tribes: The Toltrumerim tribe is vanquished. Of all the great cities that the dwarves have built, only Tyr Faerath is still standing when war ends. The elves take the dwarven Morongetyr stone from Ehebion (as Menemronn stole it from the dwarves) to their forest to protect it.

8800 b.S. Neutral Taean appear
A faction of elves, finding themselves only wanting Peace in the war against Evil establish themselves separate from the Taeánrhim and refuse to fight in the war against Evil. Their Taeánrhim brothers shun them, and they find themselves pushed to the eastern end of the Emerald Woods.

8600 b.S. Separation among the Kiingerim: Emergence of the Kavogerim & the Chaorim
The remaining Kiingerim are divided into three groups. Some travel to Tyr Faerath and the city grows rapidly. Others travel into the new wasteland Terruin Zsharath and become the nomadic Kavogerim. The third, and smallest, group travel north and settles on the hills of the northern parts of the Zharkanions. They become the Chaorim.

7280 b.S. Pheránrhim establish the Autumn Woods realm
A tribe of elves, whose passion for life was awakened by the War of the Chosen, decides to explore the continent. Beyond the old burned lands they find the “Autumn Forest”, and thus the Elves who are born there take the name Pheránrhim. This action causes them to be looked down upon by the Taeánrhim.

6700 b.S. The Kavogerim and the Kiingerim seal a trade deal
The Kavogerim and Kiingerim make a pact about controlling the trade routes. The Kavogerim will protect caravans moving north and east through the dangerous wilderness and for that they would get a share of what is transported.

ca 6000 b.S The Expulsion of the Chyrakisth
The Chyrakisth are thrown out of Ehebion and from this point on they start to create their usual chaos throughout the lands.

unknown to 5500 b.S. Founding of the Kingdom of Kohendar
In the aftermath of the First Shadow War, Korweyn the Great's brother, Nandros, will lead his people back to the Sohon Mountains. They will found the Kingdom of Kohendar - which will later become the First Korweynite Empire.

unknown - 5000 b.S. Formation of the Murmillion
The followers of Kyras (one of the human heroes of the First Shadow War), settle in the Ehebion peninsula among the ruins of Menemronn's fortresses, together with the remaining Chyrakisth tribes. They start to name themselves "Lords of the Sickle" and will form the basis of the later Murmillion people.

unknown - 5000 b.S. What later became the Santerrans? (ran out of a caption!)
The third major human tribe that took part of the First Shadow War disappears and it is believed that they have actually fled to the eastern islands to become the later Santerrans.

The West

Dimunition of the Orcs – time needed!
No records. Up to the discovery of the black orcs in the far west, their race was actually quite forgotten.

unknown to 6000 b.S: [need a caption!]
- Need to mention that weird kingdom and the Big Inamis here somehow

During the First Shadow War a lot of humans flee to the west. Legends mention several human tribes of fierce nomadic horsemen escaping Menemronn’s armies to populate the lands between Therrein Nermarein, Desert Kaerath, and the Valley of Orcal.

5700 bS: The flight of the Aestera and the Lillivear comes to and end
The Exodus of the Aestera and the Lillivear end as the tribes arrive on the south-western peninsula (the Peninsula of Shar) and start to settle in its tropical rainforests. The Lillivear establish their civilization south of the great mountain range, west of Amaris (the middle of the three gigantic rivers dividing the peninsula into four regions) while the Aestera claim the lands east of the great river.

5600 b.S: War between the Lillivear and the Aestera
Ferocious battles between the Lillivear and the Aestera over Rháásthár (and thus, access to the western lands and southern jungles) exhaust both civilizations’ resources and weaken their border defenses.

5600 bS: Disputes between the nomads & the Departure of the Krar
A substantial wave of horsemen, after a disagreement with the main horde, floods south, settling all along the western slopes of the great mountain ranges of the Peninsula of Shar. For centuries to follow, they will send massive raids against the Lillivear from their western flanks. This tribe later takes on the name “Krár”.

5600 b.S: The Second Great Immigration Wave: The Appearance of the Qualaris, Evalaris, Viaquis, and the Sharosar
The rest of the seven tribes, of which both the Aestera and the Lillivear were initially part of, arrive in the southwestern peninsula. The Qualaris and the Evalaris claim the northeastern woods, the Saroshar puts down strong roots on the coastal region southeast of these woods, the Viaquis rides all across the Aesteran realm to the forests of Daeinion Maneth, and the last tribe (the Arath) journeys west across Lillivear lands to colonize the westernmost shores of the isthmus. The Arath will in time fuse with the nomadic horsemen to form the main Krathrian tribe.

5500 b.S: The Birth of the Twin Kingdom: Emergence of the “Krean”
After the unremitting invasions of the surrounding kingdoms the leaders of the Aestera and the Lillivear come to the mutual conclusion that neither of their beautiful realms can withstand the incursions without help. Thus, following the marriage of Kliám and Mseríá, the two leaders sign the Pact of the Silent Wind and with it the Twin Kingdom is born. In a matter of months, the combined armies of the two tribes manage to drive the intruders back to the edges of the Rhsáll River.

5500 b.S: Disagreement among the Krean: the Leave of the Orihirim
A group of Lillivear, under the leadership of Sálohár of the Bright, refuses to be part of the Krean and set forth west to bring into being a kingdom of knowledge, discovery and equality. They align themselves with the exiled tribes for protection in return for an annual tribute of provisions. These will later shape the first three Krath empires’ astute advisor ranks. They are referenced by contemporary historians as the Orihirim.

5500 bS: Mysterious Immigration to the North
For unknown reasons, one of the horsemen tribes of the Nermarein plains rides north past the desert of Kaerath. Name or characteristics of the tribe are unknown.

5500 bS: Beginnings of the Anpagan humans
Factions of nomads from Vaenath surge south into lands that will one day be called Anpagan.

...yeah, especially the blue one :)

Also now that I see it, there is a mistake with Murmillions: they appeared as a nation before the expulsion of Chyrakisth from Ehebion (they kicked them out eventually, even if initially they actually wanted to merge with them - this would be the reason behind the Third Shadow War, from the Chyrakisth's point of view, but they kinda started it anyway)

It still looks complicated to me, but I can't figure out a way to implement it otherwise.

PS: ah, I really need to get on that Western timeline before the YoD this weekend...

PS2: so you say, that it would be worth to put it for upload even if it's way not near finished?

PS3: about the "age of silence," I just kept Koldar's names, and I guess he wanted to fit the timeline with the Sarvonian one. I don't know about this one, perhaps we would need some other opinions too - after all, this kinda stops being a Nybelmarian-only issue as it concerns the whole world as such.

I think you are hurrying too much Smith. Look at the Sarvonian timeline - they're only trying to sort out the last 150 years and that's taking them ages! And you want a general concept for the last 3000 years!

I don't like hurrying with history just to get something up on the site. I fear stepping on my own toes later! We don't even know what kingdoms there are in the West! I don't want to just scribble a few lines like an age of havoc here, a renaissance there etc only to find out in a year that none of that could work...

I need time... Why don't we focus on the last 300 hundred years after we're finished with this until the end of the Age of Myths?

Let's face it: We aren't going to get the ENTIRE history of Nybelmar - or even its general outline - finished soon. If we wait to have the whole thing finished as a draft first we won't get anywhere...

We need to approach this section by section. This is only an outline which can - and should - be modified and added upon as the years pass by.

We already have the Age of Silence and most of the Age of Myths sketched and agreed upon - that's what the discussion on the Nybelmar board was for! Now we need to make visible progress, divide this massive project into managable chunks, finish & polish them, and then move on to the next bit. Otherwise in the end we will have a 100 page document no one will want to go through to edit and post here...

@PS3: Either we need to drop the names altogether and come up with Nybelmarian names or we need to change the way we divide the ages... Currently it just doesn't function. The Sarvonians have a different "Silence" and "Myths" than is marked here. But yes, I too would love to hear suggestions
