Ok on with the next topic I want to elaborate of the history of the southern parts: the uniting of the three major cities of Stratania: Strata, Thalambath and Bardavos.

As mentioned in a thread concerning the history of this part of the world before, this would happen around 711 b.S. However, I want to move this time a little, maybe around the time Milkengrad was founded, namely 730 b.S.

The idea is this. At the beginning of the First Sarvonian War, Viginold Deresvungen, leader of the Erpheronians launches an attack against the Elves located at Elving. In an attempt to gather as many forces as humanly possible he sents riders in all directions of the wind in search of allies. One of these, being a young lad interested in local interested, sets out to search for the company that once left Voldar lead by Drafas Tristin. He does find the city of Strata still ruled by the family of Gerwon, brother of Drafas. When they hear of Viginold's cause they assemble an army mainly consisting of footsoldiers (I haven't figured out mobility in Strata yet, but I don't think their will be much horses in the hot climate). They will meet the Erpheronian army at Elving, helping in the siege.

Meanwhile Bardavos, widely known because of its reputation does as well sent a force in aid of the human cause. These two (Strata and Bardavos army) meet eachother and the current Stratanian king being fond of artist engages in conversation with Bardavos men, resulting in the bond between the two cities.

Thalambath I'm planning to give a rather isolated politic attitude. When first Drafas enters the Southern Realms they reject his cause searching for a new home, but neither deny him building a new city. For long time the two cities won't meet, though Stratanian politicians and diplomats try several times to make contact, they are politely but firmly shown the door.
Thalambath has got however a strong economy being the first trade city in the south. They thus do have some contact, but only with their trading partners, Strata not being one of them...

At the time of Viginold's gathering a herald arrives in Thalambath as well but they show no interest in joining in the Erpheronian cause. But when they hear of Milkengrad being developed a fleet is assembled and they sail off to the north. There they meet with Milkengrad politicians and as well Stratanian and Bardovonians still present from the last wars. Taking initiative for once Thalambath allies up with Strata to come over the new trade concurrent.

Still a rough sketch, their are no names etc, but what do you think about the general idea? Milkendrag experts, did I misinterpreted anything etc??

As far as I can judge (though I'm no Milkengrad expert) this sounds pretty good. Explains some things very logically. If there are no further objections I suggest to work out details in order to put it into the Compendium and/or the History section. - Nice ideas, Gean!

Sounds nice, but could you be a bit more specific with the timeline?

of course, here we go:

808-806: Viginold Deresvungen sends out messengers and heralds for supports in a possible upcoming war
806: assault on Elving, Erpheronian forces meet Stratanian forces in battle, as well as a small company of freedomfighters from Bardavos, then called THAEHAVOS
806-730: Stratanian contigent stays permanently in the region to assist the humans in the war.
730: Foundation of Milkengrad
Thalambath fleet sails off upon hearing the news of this new trade port. Strata and Thalambath meet for the first time since a long period of diplomatical silence.
729: Deciding of the blood. With the war now over the three major cities of the south decide to unite under one central rule, or at least have some sort of cooperation (still have to think about what exactly it will become).

somewhere in 700-630: begin of skirmishes of Stratania against the growing power of Milkengrad, resulting in naval battles against Stratania.
628: Naval battles won by the Milkengrad fleet against Stratania.
628-618: period of "calm before the storm", Centoraurian Civil War, planning of invasion to give the final blow to Stratania.
618: Red Alliance starts their combined offensive against Milkengrad.

I just read your detailed desciption about these event in your
description and am not sure anymore everything I wrote down is in agreement with it, but you know that better than I do.

These are things which have to be decided between you two, but I just wanted to say that it is a very good idea of you, Dean, to put the links to the appropriate pages in your postings;)  This way it is very easy to check back things (*hehe* even the #-Jump works fine!!)... Great idea!

Why did the Epheronians launch an attack on the Elves?

Gah are you offending me by calling me DEAN?? j/k :p
But it makes it easier for people to join the discussion if they have no idea what I'm talking about.

If you read the history from The Age of the Blood you'll notice that the former leader of the Erpheronians (Gorm (? there's no compendium entry on him!)) was killed by an Elven assasin. The attack could be seen as a revenge for his death. Read more about it in the history.

*hehe* Sorry about the Dean, Gean! I mixed up your two names Daron and Gean, resulting in Dean;)  No offence intended, Dean... err... Gean!

To Dalá'Valannía: You definitely need some Santharian history lessons, Dalá'Valannía! But of course the Santharian Wars take place after Katyas time, so I see that Katya would be surprised hearing of such things...

Well yes, I do mainly concentrate on the Age of Awakening and tend to give a cursory glance to the rest of the Ages :O  Sorry, I'm horrible at history! I know I can just refer to the history section on the main site for answers but I much rather ask you guys instead because I know you'll give me a pared-down Santharia history lesson which I can grasp at once :)  However, if my questions are irritating the hell outta anyone whom I asked, feel free to tell me to shove off my lazy butt and access the Santharian History section on the main site ;)

*serious face, puts on teacher's hat :evil   * (you could use the picture of Frick teaching Merlin as an example of my current appearance ;)  )
Now milady, let's start off with your private history lessons. For tomorrow noon you will read the entire chapter about the War of the Blood. You will be able to tell me everything stated in the charter, detailed and well, origin of the war, the curse of fire and other main issues.

If you do not comply... something will happen, yeah that's it, something...  *walks away scratching back of his head thinking he has forgotten something*
