Is this continent free to deelop or are there already sketches made and fixed ideas?
Read that Gnufruk wanted some kind of Goblin kingdoms there.

I would be more than willing to try my hand on a continent, too. Everything has to be tried once! ;)

But don't expect anything soon as I'm still occupied with some other Santharian projects (and non-Santharian-projects, and Ahh.. yes, I've to study at some days in the week! ;)  )

Bye, Koldar

Although there is a map sketch of Nybelmar in the Library (see near Cylisril) Nybelmar will be designed anew. Maybe Gnufruk also has some ideas how certain parts of the continent will look like.

I guess you mean to draw a map of it, Koldar, and I have no objections to it from my side. I have several aims which we should be able to achieve sooner or later. One of it is to finish all gods, another to finish all main detailed maps of the continents (in order to set up a final world map). This would be a valueable help in order to reach this aim. Make sure to discuss some details with Gnufruk before you start.

Check out this link, Koldar: www.geocities.com/snytepapir

The big sircle could be Orcal, the Goblin kingdom...
The smaller circles could be various orc societies...
Looking forward to work with you!

Hmmm... The link doesn't really lead to a picture... Check again, Gnufruk!

I meant both, drawing a map and developing the culture on this continent, etc..
Will be interesting to have some Goblin/Orc empires on one continent, too.
But referring to the sketch I've seen (a very detailed one!) I could see several human kingdoms grow at the south and east coasts and several mountains cry for dwarves! ;)
Still the Northeastern and west coastline is very vague. Enough for own ideas!

Will be a pleasure for me to discuss these matters, Gnufruk! ;)

The picture should show up now...
If you was planning on a human kingdom where the big sircle (Orcal) is, i would gladly move it...

No, no, this empire would be right at the edge of the territory I thought human empires should lie.
Go south and east along the coastline and till the forests and mountains and you see the ca. area of human rule (civilized rule, of course!).

The interesting parts would be what is farther north of this orc-empire and in the deep forests.

Was already something planned for the mountainous Island east of Gnufruk's location? Looks very similar to Ximax, if you ask me.

The only other fixed idea I would have to discuss with Gean Firefeet would be that I thought there shuold be a powerful seafaring nation on this continent. The Stratanians hold the sea lanes to its port for a long period of time and most of their wealth was based on it. The war between Milkengrad and Strata would become far more logical as the Stratanians just couldn't accept another Sarvonian seapower get strong enough to explore these routes.
This trade ended when both powers started a war 'cause of diverse interests and thus the Stratanian power base crumbled and their might declined.

Everything else is completely open up to now, but I think we'll keep all detailed locations and only change areas that are only outlined if neccessary.

So that means that Orcal can be where it currently is?

Think so. There'll be some borderclashes with the planned human kingdoms but I think this will be a minor problem.

The question now is the size. Should I transfer it 1:1 into a colored map or should we go into detail and add some additional rivers and hills, etc.

Art, do you want to make a grayscale map first or should I begin as I like. But I'm not sure I get the same 'look' as your maps, perhaps even not similar to Mythe.

An idea to your Orc-empire. Perhaps let it only have a small developed center along the human kingdoms and then 'fade' into the plains in the North which are populated by indepndant Orc tribes who don't accept the rul of the Orcal.

A mixture between civilized farmers and wild, free shephards. This way the empire would fit more to the nature of the Orcs.
The empire will always have to struggle to keep the regions in the west and south under their control as many of this wild tribes are roaming the countryside ignoring imperial rule.

So you want to do a color version right from the start, Koldar? Have no experience with such a thing, can only do grayscale ones and I guess there is too much to integrate in the next weeks (I should finally finish all things related to star constellations) so that I will not have the time to draw one myself. Well, just give it a try. But I'd say: One after the other, Koldar. Finishing Nyermersys should have priority, in the meantime Gnufruk could elaborate on a sketch of his parts with names on it etc.

Yes, yes, yes. There was something! ;)

Nyermersys has top priority, only working out some things I wanted to have in and some things I wanted to know before starting.

Don't know if I can work on Nyermersys tomorrow but I'll try.

Bye, Koldar *heading off for Munich*

Koldar, here is a note: Orcal is a very civilized empire, even more civilized than some human kingdoms. Orcal is not an 'me chief - you chief. Me kill other chiefs' kingdom.
It is ruled by a king with the title: Grand Elector Emperor...
Conclusion: Orcal is not like all other Orc/Goblin kingdoms,
it is a civilized kingdom, inhabited by Goblins, Orcs, Gorbas (new race - will make compendium entry) and other Greenskins.

It can be very civilizid empire but IMO it will have to surpress assaults by 'wild' Orc tribes and thus will have to struggle in the border regions to keep control over their area.
I would also think that they would maintain trade posts in the plains of the SW to get to valueable raw materials and these posts have to be secured, too.

Thought about this empire in the way the Romans surpressed their neighbors and conquered them to defend their 'civilized' homelands.

In the end they're still aligned to the element of Fire and should not transformated into some kind of greenskinned elves.

Just some thoughts! ;)
