Prickley

Appearance
Prick ley’s are small rodents weighing about 2.2 hebs. Prick ley’s are blunt nosed, with small eyes and round ears. They have very powerful legs, with long sharp curved claws. They are very slow. They have long sharp guard hairs over the front half of their body. The rear end, and the tail are covered 30,000 quills which are usually about 5 nailsbreadth in length. The quills each have sharp curved barbs on the ends, and when embedded in an enemies face, will dig themselves deeper into the flesh.
There are two main colors of prick ley’s. Within the desert regions, most often within the Etherial Void, the prick ley’s are pure brown with yellow quills. Within cooler regions the Prick ley’s are black, they use this coloration to consume and hold heat from the sun.  Their weakness is their soft, plump underbelly, which is not covered by any form of protection.

Special Abilities
Prick ley’s are small round, with a thick layer of Fat under their skin so they are able to live in near freezing temperatures. Also a prickley is covered with horrible quills, which embed themselves in an enemy’s face and chest. The prickley slams its tail up into its stalkers face. Once the barbs have dug their way into the flesh, they are hard to remove.

Territory
Found on every continent, they have roamed throughout all of Santharia throughout the centuries. They are highly adaptable to surroundings and can live in hot or cold climates. They are excellent climbers, adding to their ability to protect themselves. Normally solitary animals, they usually have their own territory within a stral sized area.

Diet
Prick ley’s prefer all kinds of vegetation, their favorite being carrots and bark from the Cloewen tree. They have long thick front teeth, which they use for stripping the bark off of fallen branches. Prickleys have been known to eat bird’s eggs and small mice as well as their normal vegitation. Prick ley’s Love salt and will go to extreme’s to get it.

Habits/Behavior
Prickleys would most likely be found wandering alone throughout its territory. They spend most of their days eating. For the desert dwelling prick ley’s they often hide out in the shade of anything they can while they eat. Whereas prickleys within colder regions stay in sunny area’s and bask in the sun, letting it heat them. When two male prickleys come into contact they fight to the death, avoiding each others back and tail, while trying to tear open each others stomach with their sharp foreclaws.

Mating
Mating habits of this creature are rather bizarre; the male approaches the female with embraces and nose-rubbing, if receptive, she allows him to spray her with gouts of urine. When fully soaked copulation occurs and 210 days later up to five offspring are born, sighted, mobile and covered in hair and quills.

Origin
It is said these creatures have evolved from the small dune mice. Both have the great long tail and small, cute face. True origin Unknown.

Researchers
Prick ley’s have been tamed and owned but are very dangerous due to an easily angered temperament and the ability to wound badly with one smack of the tail. There are many researchers, as they are not rare at all. If anything, with the breeding rates and the amount of available space, prick ley’s are overly populated.

Also Spelled Also Prick Ley, Pricklie, Pricklee

I think these need a bit more detail, work, and editing, Sammykins.  If you can flesh them out according to our guidelines (look at some finished animals on the site to see good examples), I'll be happy to put them into HTML once they are done.

For now I'll leave them and perhaps they can make the next week's update, OK?  I also don't see any comment from Tarq (who I know is off this week, but I'd like him to have a chance to see these.)
