Appearance
Thick brown scales cover its entire body. Although very tough the scales are smooth and have a shinny glare to them. This dragon has no spikes on its body or head what so ever. It is a very muscular animal, and rather slow walking. It front set of paws/feet are huge, with thick strong claws. Its snout is long and narrow, leading onto a solid flat forehead. Which is attached to a long but strong neck. Its shoulders are very wide, normally 4 times the width of its head. Its hind legs have several huge muscles, designed for pushing. The tails is short, and stumpy. Strangely this dragon doesn't possess a set of wings.

Special Abilities
Although these animals look very strange, it is designed for one purpose, which is to dig. They are capable of travelling at very fast speeds, under the ground but when above ground, they are slow and clumsy. It is also said these dragons are masters of Earth magic, having the ability to control the earth itself. They are also know for there amazing sense of hearing.

Territory
These creatures are not often spotted as they tend to live deep underground in there own made caves. In times of heat, these animals have been seen basking in the sun. Most of these sightings were in the Northern Savonian Continent. A group travelers clam one of these animals burst from the ground consumed one of there companions. This is in the Lands of the Kuglimz.

Diet
They have a unique hunting technique, they are able to hear animals and can somehow tell what kind of animal it is from under the ground. After choosing the animal is suitable prey, the follow to for a short period of time before using there large front claws to burst from the ground, and grab onto the prey. They then drag it under ground, kill and consume the poor animal. They do not have preferences of food they seem just to go for anything they can lay their hands on, literally.

Habits/Behavior
These animals tend to stick with their families, but if two males were to meet. Only one of them would walk away, as Earth Dragons are very territorial and have an aggressive nature. They do not enjoy company, unless it is that of a mate. Dead juvenile Earth Dragons have been found, and it is believed that the fathers kill their children if annoyed by them.

Mating
Very little is known about mating, as it is done deep underground. Although some small earthquakes have been caused by it. This suggests that there is some fighting of some kind.

Hey, John, at least you've gotten six people to look at it!  I posted "Grasses" (ok, not the most exciting title) about a week ago and no one has even CLICKED ON THE LINK to read it, let alone respond.

Sometimes you wonder if anyone is going to validate your existence on line!

(wanders off grumbling to herself)

(sticks her head back in, blushing)

By the way, I like your dragons.  Nice quiet non-obtrusive diggers who won't eat my Dwarves, and rounds out the elemental dragons, too.

Catch you later!

Sorry, no time to read yet, but some comments off-topic_

Short note on these numbers you mention, Judith: Don't let the number 0 confuse you! There is in fact an ezBoard problem with counting as long as there is no reply for more than 1 or 2 days (unless you edit the entry, this somehow counts as well). You can have 10 hits and after a day or 2 the number is reset to 0. It will work correctly only if there are replies to the topic. So stop grumbing and assume that all Santharians read it, thought: Hey, what another great entry from our fabulous Bard!!! and because it is so naturally that you do great entries, you haven't received a reply yet:)

Another reminder to all who are developing dragons and beasts: Don't forget that we have 2 great pics of Faugar at the bestiary resources at pub176.ezboard.com/fsanth...=192.topic which long for integration, the one on the top left BTW is meant to be a Wyvern, so just in case anyone is bored...

Guess the pic is workable for this dragon type and also the entry fits quite nicely.'

However, would suggest to make it a smaller kind of dragon, a Lesser Drake.Usually only the great monsters are called "dragons" and I guess Earth Drakes fits better. If they aren't so big this would also make it possible for certain kinds of dwarves for example to make them powerful underground riding animals (of course only for the really tough dwarves, maybe dark dwarven leaders - well, that's just a proposal - need Judith's comment on this). If Judy agrees on this maybe she can add a few lines here or you could add something and wait for her consent.

Which brings me to a few minor details your forgot to mention like: What's the exact size of such a dragon? Can it fly (assume not, but should be mentioned)? Would also add more details about your earth magic idea: What can they do for example? A typical defensive earth spell would be e.g. strengthening their skin by magical means, an offensive spell would be causing smaller earthquakes etc. I porpose to add some more details here and there in this direction, then it should be fine.

Hmmmm, that would be fun!

It might be an interesting test of leadership among the Morgerim, the Dark Dwarves as they are known.  Would mean another animal for Northern Sarvonia, which should be ok by Drogo.....  And it would be nice to have a non-aggressive dragon, or at least a drake.  Gives a unique ability to the Morgerim as well, as the only race/clan who have a relationship with these beasts.

I just don't want to copy Anne McCaffrey, who of course is the seminal author on dragon/humanoid relationships... so I'd steer clear of making it an interdependent 'bond' and more like a special or infrequent happening....something a leader does to prove his/her ability (demonstrates patience, courage, and flexibility).

So, if you are interested, it's fine by me!  I can write something up about it to add to the Morgerim.

If you could edit the entry before Sunday, I can already integrate it, John! So just in case you're bored...

I see no action taken here according to my comments, so I'll add final details myself and put it up, okeydokey?
