Title: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Azhira Styralias on 30 August 2008, 03:24:20 You heard that right folks! Azzy and Mira are "switching sides" by creating an entry for the "other" region! :D Azzy will develop an entry for Nybelmar while Mira creates an entry for the North! Exciting! Do you have any ideas for Azzy to choose from? Will she survive the unknown lands of Nybelmar? What kind of strange creation would YOU like to see Mira make for the North? Would he freeze his buns off climbing the many vast snow covered mountain regions? Anything goes!! Plant, animal, misc stuff...places... What do YOU think? :interesting: Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Artimidor Federkiel on 30 August 2008, 03:27:14  Interesting ideas to work with an "exchange students" system... If you're not good with, say, plants, you can order one from an expert and do something somewhere else where you are more proficient. Fascinating concept at any rate!
Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Tharoc Wargrider on 30 August 2008, 03:31:46 I think you should create a vast army of Orcs dedicated to keeping Mira out of Nybelmar, Az.
An' give 'em big weapons. So to speak.... Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Azhira Styralias on 30 August 2008, 03:57:51 Now, now Tharoc...this is a friendly exchange student program. No rivalries. ;)
@ Mira - Might I suggest something anywhere in the Kanapan lands? (http://www.santharia.com/dev/index.php/topic,3710.msg43758.html#msg43758) It's not all cold and ice there with many different regions to choose from. Just an idea. Feel free to pick anywhere. As for me, I'll need time to peruse the Nybelmar stuff as I have no clue about your lands. But, hopefully, through this unique experience, I'll learn more! Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Tharoc Wargrider on 30 August 2008, 04:17:04 Whilst you're both up the creek, as it were, why not go the whole hog and pick something you haven't done before? Or at least something that you wouldn't normally do?
Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Nsikigan Ho´Tonanese Yourth on 30 August 2008, 22:23:16 I love this! Tharoc, if yo ever want to do something with the Eyelians, I'll work with the Orcs ;)
Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Tharoc Wargrider on 31 August 2008, 04:01:14 Hhhmm. Attractive proposition, Nsiki, but I have more than enough work to do at the moment, what with the Orc tribes re-works (mucho delayed), the Warg stuff with Garrett (also delayed, but back on the agenda), the Pyrates (on to my third re-write, just can't get the language or 'feel' right), plus my other bits 'n' bobs. If you get back to me in about say, ooh, six months or so, we may have an accord!
There's nothing stopping you doing something Orc-oriented in the meantime, though. Although I think perhaps you should concentrate on getting that golden name-tag. Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Nsikigan Ho´Tonanese Yourth on 31 August 2008, 05:49:11 Of course, Tharoc... that's why I'd have to wait about 6 months too ;)
Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Azhira Styralias on 31 August 2008, 11:53:34 Mira...*ahem*
*emerges from the Nybelmar closet as piles of paper come tumbling over her head* Trying to rummage through the Nybelmar continent boards is like sifting through a pile of my senile old grandma's nonsensical notes and scribbles...I can't make heads or tails of it all...nor can I find any good maps. No offense, but y'all need some order in there... You're gonna have to give me some pointers on what I can help with...somewhere in the Drifting Woods area is all I found useful, but no map I could find tells me where that is... Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Miraran Tehuriden on 31 August 2008, 21:35:55 Heh, you did chech the nybelmar development forums, did you? there you can find the non-outdated maps. The Western Nybelmar Realms thread was set up by me to be a guiding tool for those who seek a specific place or tribe, although i should update it with the new concepts sometime soon after i descide where the Trumarim will live..
Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Decipher Ziron on 01 September 2008, 05:16:13 *Pokes Azhira*
I would vote for you to develop some sort of place on our continent, mainly because I like how the Snow Drake Isle place was written.... Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Azhira Styralias on 01 September 2008, 05:45:06 Thanks, Deci!
Ahh, I was thinking of a place entry as well. Any suggestions? :D I ask because I don't know what's on your own to-do list already... Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Miraran Tehuriden on 01 September 2008, 05:47:35 Well, if i may be so greedy, and if you'd be willing to suffer severe scrutiny from me, i could give you the Gates of M'aghin..
Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Decipher Ziron on 01 September 2008, 07:23:55 Or the Broken Woods of Zhun.....Filled with Nasty spirits like Gaisho, the only place not deforested for ship-building wood due to the fact that it was haunted and nobody wanted to go there. A very corrput forest filled with ghosts and the like, something you might like the idea of.
Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Azhira Styralias on 01 September 2008, 08:41:59 I do like the Broken Woods idea... Ghosts and hauntings are my thing, for sure.
I would like to more about the Gates of M'aghin...before I make my decision. ;) Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Bard Judith on 01 September 2008, 15:36:24 Tharoc, talk to me about the Pyrates! If tone and diction is your trouble, I'm your man.... er, well, in the broadest possible sense.
Anyhow, drop by my tower study and yank the bell; I'm sure you know where it is! Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Miraran Tehuriden on 02 September 2008, 00:58:52 There is info on them in the Drifting Woods and Ter'ei'Vikh humans entries, as well as the yet to be completed Tehuriden one.
Its basically a humongous gate-like structure of living trees and plants, built by the Ter'ei'Vikh to effectively seal the entrance into the Drifting Woods made by the Metherinin river. It's also the only reliable place where outside traders, such as the Faen, can trade with the Ter'ei'Vikh, who have all sorts ofexotic wares for trade only they can produce, and who receive metal and stone objects in return, something which they do not have at all. Its vital to the Ter'ei'Vikh as they are now, and a fairly important economical bottleneck. Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Azhira Styralias on 02 September 2008, 19:48:18 I've chosen to do the Broken Woods of Zhun.
I don't think the gate is suitable for a first time Nybelmar entry...sounds like alot to consider with other tribes, cultures and trading. The woods seems more open to interpretation for now. Where on the map are these woods located? Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Decipher Ziron on 02 September 2008, 19:59:18 If you look on the new Kingdom map of Nybelmar (the one posted in the Western Realms threads) and look at the 'Zhunite Citystates' you will spot (to the east) a Sombrero-shaped forest. The Broken Woods themselves will be considered the domain of the Marmarrans- since they venture in there to perform Gaishen experiments. When you begin writing ask me for the few other details that need to be included.
Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Azhira Styralias on 15 December 2009, 05:44:49 Resurrected!
Mira, tell me more about this merfolk settlement in the volcano. I will have to postpone Deci's suggestion as he hasn't gotten back to me yet. ;) Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Miraran Tehuriden on 15 December 2009, 05:56:26 Well, lets see.. The Drifting Woods region is warmer than the surrounding areas because it is situated on an unstable bit of the disk, riddled with volcanic vents and such that feed the Moss Mounds (http://www.santharia.com/bestiary/mossmounds.htm), whom in turn secrete hot vapours and water into the woods. Now, deep within the woods is an old, inactive pit that used to fuel three gigantuan Mounds (referenced in the DW history during the Year of Darkness).
When the vent closed itself off, the Ter'ei'Vikh used their spirit song magics to build a hanging city that spanns the lake, called Mûn'ti, which roughly translates as "The Woven", while underneath, the Deep Mer merfolk used the now habitable pit to create their mirror-settlement, one of the very, very few places this mertribe has permanently settled in, and definately the largest one. The pit itself is, in "Vikh mythology, the place where Vikthi struck the earth when he and his father did battle, resulting in a 'wound' (vulcanic area) that was cursed never to heal completely (hence the ongoing activity all throughout the woods). Ecology-wise, the place is riddles with strange, and often luminiscent creatures/plants, and of course the Deep Mer themselves. Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Seeker on 15 December 2009, 06:05:12 Seeker drools at the thought of this coming to life (and to canvas).
Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Azhira Styralias on 15 December 2009, 12:08:37 Hrm....
This promises to be an interesting undertaking! I think I'll try it. Its a departure from my usual dark, misty, evil places entries, but it would help me learn more of Nybelmar. Not to mention, we may get a much lusted after Seeker picture to go with it! A few questions: 1.) Is this place referred to in any other entry? Does the settlement have a name? 2.) The Merfolk entry lists their territory as being in Sarvonia, not Nybelmar. Am I to develop a new tribe/clan of Nybelmar Mer or has this already been done? And does Bard know about it? Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Miraran Tehuriden on 15 December 2009, 13:38:58 I'll get you a list of reference links first thing tomorrow! RIght now i'm going to have a shower and get to bed, its almost six in the mroning and Mira is a wee bit tired now..
(but no its not named, and yes there are five or six nybelmer tribes already defined) Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Miraran Tehuriden on 15 December 2009, 23:05:47 Nybelmer (http://www.santharia.com/dev/index.php/topic,11565.0.html)
Drifting Woods (http://www.santharia.com/places/drifting_woods.htm) These are the must-reads i can easilly think of, giving a bit of info on the merfolk, and the location.. for all toher questions.. well, there would be me, i suppose :P additional tidbits on the deep mer; Oloy (http://www.santharia.com/bestiary/oloy.htm#usages) and on the exact location of the settlement; Mossmounds (http://www.santharia.com/bestiary/mossmounds.htm#Myth/Lore) Title: Re: The Azzy/Mira Collaboration Discussion Post by: Azhira Styralias on 15 December 2009, 23:20:34 Ok great Mira. I'll take this and see what I can do with it.
