Title: Absence
Post by: Jonael Tomeskrift on 17 May 2009, 03:46:04
Heya everyone,

Just a quick note to those who've come in contact with me over the past week. I'll be gone for this coming week, from sunday to sunday. One of my uni course modules is Surveying, so we're off into the highlands for the week to do just that. Its out in the middle of nowhere, so unfortunately no internet connection.

@ Foraste Lydan: I'll have ya final correction sugestions up tonight before I set out so that your entry hopefully makes the update XD Sorry for the slow working.. this module's very time consuming and keeps me away from home for most of the day..

Alright well, hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, and enjoy your weeks much, whatever it is your plans are ^^

Hugs,

Jonael

Thought I'd just use this one again..

For the next two months I'll be around on and off, cause I'm starting my new summer job.. I'll be working at Glamis Castle (http://www.glamis-castle.co.uk/) as an international tour guide, haha. And tho it's only an hour away from where I live the bus connections up there are so horrendous that I have to stay up there during the week. They've agreed to let me sleep in one of their cottages... which is awesome, staying in a cottage at a castle!... but I wouldn't know whether there's internet connection in the cottage, lol. So, sorry if I'm out for a week at a piece (i should be able to return home once a week)

Hope y're all well,

Hugs,

Jonael

How come I never got such a great summer job?!

(drools jealously )

I guess the fact that there are no huge old castles in Canada might have something to do with it...

Have fun, Jonael!

Yeah, Jonael, that's not bad as far as summer jobs go! The castle looks splendid. I hope, for your sake, that it's haunted ...? ;)

Aye, considered by most as the most haunted castle in Scotland

So I got the day off tomorrow, so I thought I'd pop back down to Dundee to get some more stuff from my appartment for the little Bothy I'm staying in... As my absence says, there's no internets up there, haha.. but considering I'm in the middle of the forest and dun even have tv, I'm looking at it as a healthy retreat and rehab from the busy student's life.

The castle itself is absolutely wonderful, the staff too just like a little family. There's soooo much to learn though XD I did my first couple of spanish and english tours these past two days.. but they weren't as good as I can see myself be. Just need to build up more confidence and know ever nook and cranny of its history I guess.

How's everyone else been and doing? Missed ya all

Hey, hey, hey! What about Casa Loma, in Toronto? ;)

Okay, I guess you could say that there is ONE castle--but it's a tiny little one compared to those beautiful big European castles. Besides, I didn't live in Toronto then.   Casa Loma is a lovely little castle but as castles go, it's very small.  (We have memberships there and visit regularly with the kids)  And it's not even a hundred years old yet...but then Canada hasn't been around long enough (as a country) to have those kind of spectacular historical buildings.

Ya, Europe MIGHT have the leg up castle-wise on North America...

A couple of weeks ago I was here (http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd88/JuditC/Slovakia%2022%20May%20to%205%20June/100_6873.jpg), then some 200 kilometers onwards there was this one (http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd88/JuditC/Slovakia%20part%202/100_7112.jpg), with MANY inbetween that we didn't see (Btw, Incidental very nice picture from that second one (http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd88/JuditC/Slovakia%20part%202/100_7065.jpg)).

And you're saying 'might'? *cough*

(PS: Yes, I know that you're joking, was just looking for an excuse to post those pictures :P)

Figured there wouldn't be much point in starting a new topic for a wee bit of information, so I added it to this here post.

I just wanted to explain my extended absence this past week, directing my apologies primarily towards Deklitch, given he's done a wonderful rendering of the Paxen, but I was never able to review and express my appreciation of the work propperly, (appart from in a couple of hasty pm's) Other than that I'm not sure there was any other 'topical' threads I had my fingers in...

Though I've come to the end of my full-time work at Glamis Castle (I now only work weekends there), third year of Uni's kicked in.. Though the course is not yet the maelstrom it promises to be, there's loads going on, lectures, labs, sports, social nights out. It all unfortunately adds up to a lot of nights where I just didn't have the neergy to give new entries my full and undivided attention. And unfortunately I'm not really one to start at something if I know I can only do a halfassed job at it ("halfassed" isn't a swearword is it? Or do I need to blank it? Haha)

Anyhoo, that's just so people dun think I'm on one of my dissapearing stints again (as has happened before).. Just a wee bit busy and occupied at the moment

Catch y'all around,

Hugs,

Jonael

XD *cringe*

.. and it just doesn't get better..

It's that time of the semester again when exams are just around the corner and revision sessions in the library till ungodly hours of the morning commence.. Though I will try open my compendium scribbles tome from time to time I will appologise in advance if I miss any posts or don't reply right away.

Hope ya're all having a great time ^^

I've never been to college (except for some semesters at the local community kind), but is college really *that* busy?

Depending on your major it really can be... expecially around exam time.  Good luck Jonael.

Jonael, I sympathise! It's exam week for me too... (At least in college, we only had "real" exams. Now I also have to sit and prepare for mocksl. Well, I guess it is a good thing: You get to screw things up beforehand and get potential silly mistakes out of your system)

And I thought law school was bad... The LPC is killing me :P Oh well, at least once I start real "work", the subject matter is going to be more challenging/interesting. I think I am just not cut out for the mindless drudgery that are these 1-yr mandatory professional/practice/qualification courses. Read 200 pages to learn how to fill in a claim form - yeah, my ideal way to spend an evening...

I always thought all that talk about 80 hr weeks in the law was exaggerating it a little.

... It turned out to be an understatement. (More like 90 hr/wk in restructuring - if you are a trainee. If you are a senior associate/partner, go straight to 100, do not pass go)

All the best with your exams!

PS: I want a holiday. But I am willing to settle for some sleep instead :P

*end of rant*

This is why we don't see nearly as much of our gentle zephyr as we'd like, hmmm?   You need to open up the windows and blow through those stuffy rooms filled with legal papers, briefs, torts, and writs.... and waft over to the Dream again!

Haha, I think I'm resurrecting this thread a little too frequently for my own liking...

But it's that time again. I've started my work in Belgrade this Monday, so for the first couple of days things are gonna be busy. I also had a wee problem with acquiring internet, so, sorry for stirring up so much in the Bestiary and then disappearing right after.

As soon as I've eased into work I'll be around again

*bows & vanishes*

Sorry for the sudden fall into absence.. Internet up at the castle isn't as stable and powerful as I'd have hoped, so access has been severely restricted.
I guess there's also the fact that within the first week there's much to catch up on with.. the castle's interior has changed a bit so I need to modify my tour's speech and learn about new stuff. Having said that, it's been a couple of months since my last tour, so I still have to refresh much.. and that in 4 languages XP

Same as last year though, walking through the castle's mystical interior every day is conjuring up some fantastic ideas and urges to work. Hopefully I can plough on with the Zoho entry then.

Medieval technology I tell you! They might still get their energy with hamsters running in wheels or something... Make sure to feed them properly!

I can help with the slow internet because of hamsters problem.

Step 1-Replace hamster with mouse.

Step 2-Put LSD or other major drug into the mice's water.

Step 3-Put cheese in front of the wheel so the mouse can see it.

They'll be moving so fast, it'll make cable look worse than dial up.

Oh, and I used dial up for many many years, I sympathise with slow internet.

Gonna be partially absent for a couple of days. Gotta hop & skip through a couple of countries (down to London to visit a friend, across to Athens to the family, and finally a jump to Serbia for my work placement) ^^ I'll keep an eye out for entries and revise the ones I promised to do so. Just bear with me if I don't do so on the spot

Right, and that's that done.. With august coming to and end, so too my second summer-job up at the castle finishes soon. Sorry I've been away entirely during this time, but I just couldn't go through the stress of finding a weak at best internet connection out here in the middle of nowhere. In a couple of days I should be back in in my flat in good old Dundee.

By having a quick look around (and having popped my head in once or twice) I see we've got quite some new members! That's wonderful news, I hope to get to know and develop alongside them very soon. And with that, though by the looks of it not purely because of it, increased activity in my cosy little bestiary shack. Exciting times

Hope everyone's been well over the last couple of months, thoroughly enjoying the summer no doubt

Best wishes,

Jonael

Hope you had a nice time at the castle, Jonael, and got some inspiration from it ;) I see you also have some projects open, so I'm looking forward to see some progress there!

Welcome back, Jonael!

This year, summer more or less decided to leave England around the end of June... But fortunately, I went to Iceland, where we were rather lucky with the weather overall - and whatever rain there was, my girlfriend just sat out in hot springs, letting the rain cool her face, while I like a fool went to climb mountains and managed to get wet and  cold.

Anyway, good to have you back!
