Title: Yet Another Newbie
Post by: Ven on 03 February 2015, 12:47:11
Good afternoon/morning/evening ladies and gentlemen. I am a die-hard fanatic for all things magical and impossible, absolutely stoked at the prospect of being able to leave a mark on such a massive fantasy world. One of my greatest passions in life is world-building, so this site is quite the find for me! My priorities would be likely in the realm of fleshing out lesser-used pieces of lore and creating unique new monstrosities. I must admit, my sensibilities are a bit... "off-beat" at times, but If you're looking for creativity, I'm your guy. I'm unable to properly express how excited I am to become part of the Dream.

Some Ideas I Hope to Develop:

~The Calacas of Mexican folklore, who comfort mourning souls as they sleep and ensure the dead are not forgotten

~The insidious Gremlins, scavenging tinkers working to create an Arcane Supercomputer

~The Pirate Known as "Red Pins", who lives in opulence and crushes his foes thanks to clandestine dealings with Demonic powers

Why hello there! Just got here recently as well, nice to meet you!  I'm sure Artimidor (the all powerful webmaster) will give you a more formal introduction, but until then, welcome to the forums!

*chuckle* Aww Ven, you're making me blush already. No need for the formalities by the way, just call me Doomy. Seriously though, good to have you here, and based on what you suggested, you're just as insane and demon obsessed as I am. Gooood.......

Hello there, Ven!

Now that's what I call a nice short name that is easy to remember, almost as good as "Art"...

Nice to see you around here! It's always good to have fantasy enthusiasts who share the passion of creating something unique. Especially if you already have a couple of ideas in your mind you want to pursue. From what I see the Mexican folklore thingy sounds interesting (it just won't be called "Mexican folklore thingy here... ;) ) and the pirate idea also is fine (if you like pirate stuff I recommend playing Seeker's Santhworld module "Treasure Shoals" BTW).

The gremlin supercomputer looks more problematic, though. After all Santharia/Caelereth is a medieval kind of world, so we need to be careful that the ideas aren't too far out there and still work in the context we've set up. Depends of course all on the realisation of an idea. There are ideas that might look far out there, but could still work if done properly. However, in our world we don't have e.g. gunpowder invented yet, nor are there machines in the sense we use the word today. So there are a lot of question marks as far as an arcane machine is concerned and it would need a lot of explanation first to see if that could work.

Anyway, the other ideas look fine from the get-go, so maybe get your feet wet with those first :) At any rate: Welcome to the Dream, Ven!

Terrific! I'm happy to be here! I believe I will go make the proposal for the Calacas if that's alright.
