Title: Jeans for Genes Day
Post by: Wren on 09 September 2002, 13:38:00
This is mainly aimed at those who live in the UK, but I'd encourage every one to have a read.

On the 4th of October (wooo Amira's first day at her new PhD) is Jeans for genes day. You can wear your denim to work in return for a donation which will go to charities like Great Ormond Street Hospital, The Heamophilia society and Alstrom Syndrome UK.

Because I have spent three years studying genetics, and genetic conditions, they're very important to me. If your place of work/school are not yet planning to participate, please could you give the appropriate people a big shove from me and tell them to take part.

Even if you don't wanna wear your denims - how about downloading a sponser form and doing something silly. I'm contemplating going to my PhD induction day dressed as a sheep - yes I've know I've done it before - but its all for charity right!?!

All the information you need can be found at www.jeansforgenes.org - including sponsership forms and all sorts of stuff.

I'm a little worried about getting a reputation as the crazy chick on day one, but they're bound to find out sooner or later!
