Amabella,
I need to admit, that I have only skimmed over your lovely grass, but it seems, that it would grow in the Narfost Plain also, and maybe I could change that entry a bit, so that the alth'ho is not the predominant grass there. Would love to have it :)
If you just could mention the Plains, that would be fine, I will adjust the entry later.

Hi Coren! Nice to see you here! :)
I'm afraid, I'm a bit too busy to read any of your new things... maybe I take some stuff to Italy! :)
3  Santharian World Development / People of the World of Caelereth / Re: Stormcloaks (Amabella's Project) on: 05 May 2013, 23:27:33
Hey Amabella, you are really busy :)

Well, that's up to you, how far the Stormcloaks will go. There is nothing developed. I could imagine though, that Barsalon itself has/had 'forces', a guild, a strong business man, whatever which oversees the trade to the different regions. (The North, the South and East) But as I said above - that may change several times in history. The Stormcloaks may want to go themselves up until Barsalon and at another time decide to stay to port towns. You could establish an new town also.

As soon as i have a little more time, I will think what goods Barsalon could trade apart from the things the Remusians bring to the town.

That 'black market magic' - don't worry and just forget it, it is not important. Maybe Ralhag has meant 'magic items ' Macantis sell which are not really working and therefor forbidden by Ximax? No idea ;)  As magic is allowed nowadays, I don't really know, what he could have meant, which kind of magic needs to be sold on a black market.

'waves goodbye'

Thanks for the explanation! :)

So far, the export that I am having the most difficulty understanding is the "black market magic" from Carmalad.

Where do you have this from? Sounds like an old piece which was written before any magic was developed. No idea what could be the meaning without more text around it.

I have no problems with what you have written in italics I wonder though, why the Stormcloaks do not try to get access to the North through Kuglimz land (Druids Gathering/Livery Loam). You could of course make up any perils which wait for them on this path. don't forget, you have over thousand years of history, a lot could happen!
5  Santharian World Development / People of the World of Caelereth / Stormcloaks (Amabella's Project) on: 04 May 2013, 00:58:53
I'm continuing the discussion which was started in Amabella's welcome thread here

I'm afraid it will take some time till I can do Barsalon, but just imagine it as such a hub already. Look here what I have written and planned years ago.. the Wastes are right above Barsalon.

To the problem you addressed (and I was not aware of) 'The Kanapans are very controlling and restrictive about "foreign" southern trade with the north,' - maybe you could solve the problem with introducing a totally new port, with all the conflicts it provides.

If you look at this map:
http://www.santharia.com/maps/continents/sarvonia_north_kanapan_tribes.htm

you see, that the 'Strait of Isthrius' might not belong to any tribe (or to both, or they fighting about it, don't think so though), but it seems to be the border between the Kanapan and Kuglimz lands. They could have a major port somewhere near the coast or even in the  Chapel Fjord.
However, there is a submission started about the Dark Gnomes, which you should take into consideration also (not on site, so you may be able to make a deal)
Dark Gnomes

What about Aldridge Falls? It is not mentioned in the Dark Gnomes submission, strange.

Well, I thought a trade route around the Vindel mountains might be possible, but it is up to you. :D
I just wanted to mention, that you may well invent something new, as long as the old stuff is preserved somehow.

To your thoughts about the Stormcloaks:
Sounds very good - I do not know the difference between the Hanseatic than Florentine organizational guild structure though ;). At least this way 'guild' makes more sense and it seems very reasonable, that it changed from a family business to a guild-system. (Though in Santharia this would be possible also ;) ) You seem to be very knowledgeable in this respect and I trust you that it will make sense :)

Just keep in mind - be gentle with the written stuff, with what is already on the site. Somebody put a lot of thought in it long ago. Don't change something because you like to change it, but because it is so much better than the old ideas. :)

Amabella, maybe we  should open a new thread for the Stormcloak discussion to not to clutter your welcome thread. :)

Hello and welcome Aaron!

Though I rarely write stories I could use somebody to look over my submissions to eliminate my Germanism and comma errors  grin

May I give you a call when I have finished my current project?  :D

*edits that comma after stories out*

Hello Amabella,
nice to meet you! You seem so enthusiastic, that is good! :)

As Art said, the Stormcloaks surely can get goods from the North through the Canapans. I'm not sure, how far Altario's Remusian ships go South, but they could get Remusian and Antislar goods via Barsalon also. I'm planning (for a long time already ;) ) to develop Barsalon as a hub (?) for the trade in the North, so there are surely trade routes from there to Carabrand.

Keep in mind, that the North is frozen for half a year, so the Stormcloaks access to it (Cyhalloi) is general limited.

I'm about to write some history and at one point (Lysarian and more) I should have included the Stormcloaks also. I have not done it so far, for I didn't know what exactly to do. But while reading about it, I found, that it is not really a guild,  at least not in the beginning. More a family business. But as Stormcloak is mentioned already in so many entries we cannot change it. But if you should think about an expansion at some point, it might be worth to mention that.

Nice research! (You have done anyway already quite a lot! :D )

As I said elsewhere, I'm a little  busy right now. Look, where I have been yesterday with an Irish friend and my guestdaughter.

20th of April, and it had snowed over night. The weatherforecast was 80% rain for the day, but we have been lucky, no sun, but no shower either, just water dripping from the trees from melting snow. When we arrived, the fog just lifted.

Oh, I forgot to tell you - that's  Neuschwanstein  :)

Quite empty here, I agree; but that will change sooner or later :)

More stuff added, not finished though, not ready for an uri-check.

History table, Thaehelvil River

356    Dangerous flood in New-Santhala
The first canalisation of the river into a canal system in New-Santhala results in a worse than normal flood. New flood defences, such as levees are constructed to help prevent another severe flood.

419    First Mill on the Thaehelvil
The first water mill is built on the Thaehelvil River, harnessing its power to drive milling wheels.

At this time it is still Santhala , without the 'New'

I wonder, if the first water mills were not built much earlier,  maybe these are some advanced ones. I would like to be able to attribute such an advance one to one of the Santhrans in the GA era, would that be possible? 100 years earlier or so. They are not mentioned in the entry itself.

Edit: Can I add/alter, built up on that flood? Just a few sentences.
13  Santharian World Development / Cosmology, Myths and Religions / Re: The Twelvern Magic on: 20 March 2013, 13:22:53
Thanks for reading, Coren, but no, no uri-check now. It has to reworked after the General RM is finished. Therefore I didn't clean it up yet. But once that major entry is done, this one should not take much time to finish.

When writing this one, I did not think at the elven faith, but more in opposition to the Aeoliran (?) faith. I imagined, that the people in Santharia believe, that the gods are merciful without having to do good deeds (sola fide, sola gratia), the Aeruillin ones believe firmly, that doing god deeds will help them to gain the favor of the gods.

I don't know what the elves believe, but I think that should be 'high above' such criteria, that they do not think in the categories the humans do, that they have no problems with gaining the mercy of the gods or Ava, having to do good deeds or not does not cross their mind. Or something like that.

What each priest is able to do comes afterwards, as an extra entry. I have a lot stored already, Queprur half done etc.. but time flies.... 'sigh'

I'm hurrying to finish that history stuff, but I dare not to stop now, for then it will drown in the forum as so many other things.

And I started painting again, that takes up time also. I think I have by now 20 sketches of Lysarian already, but my daughter is a strict master and tells me, I have to do 1000 Loomis heads first... before I can start with colouring.
14  Santharian World Development / Cosmology, Myths and Religions / Re: Krean Religion on: 20 March 2013, 12:27:35
Coren, I will read it as soon as possible, as soon as my head feels free enough to deal with Krean Religion :)
