ermm.. AM i the one to ask?

well Bel, i would say yes... BUT- it might have to have specific area of natural habitat. say the mountains in the north west or something of the like. i'm sure they will be moved to other areas on both contients by means of traders etc...

but do some homework on elephants in general and see what they're like. if you still thik they'd be a good edition, we'll see together where they could fit in... okay?

erm.. on taking Koldar's suggestion seriously [yes, shoot me now... ( ;)   Koldar)] i have not found much information on our neglected stepsister continent...

i have two, three, well make that a few questions concerning that matter:
Who originally created it?
Who currently has domain there?
Where can i find this information? [since its gone from the 'places' menu]
and
can i play around with it?

Me too Thuja, me too. I've decided to hang out mostly in the rpg forums for the time being- mainly just to properly gage my available free time; but I hope to come back over here eventually. And like I told Judy-  I'm not sure I could stay away, my brain is WAY to active for it's own good.

“Drogo?” the rat asked. It searched its memory… “Ah yes, tall chap- big barbarian. I remember him… almost squashed my tale once.” The rat shook its furry body and jumped into the air.

Ana shrieked and made a wild grab for Walter as a large lump of fur flew by her and landed gracefully on the nearest tabletop. Ana felt paralyzed with fear, while beside her- Walter hmphed and mumbled something crude before pushing her aside and entering the closet. On the table, the rat sat up on its horrible rodent hind-legs and blinked several times before settling its gaze on her. “Its so bright out here,” it commented, squinting up at her. “Eh,” it huffed when she didn’t answer. “Didn’t your mother every teach you its not nice to stare?”

Ana seemed to shake out of her stupor. “You’re bigger then before,” she stated stupidly.

The rat, which was now about a half-ped tall, nodded as it idly watched Walter re-emerge from closet carrying several sacks.

“And you couldn’t talk before.”

It glanced up at her briefly. “Noticed that eh?” It snorted and began to pat down its furry body. “Took you long enough.” It squinted back up at her. “Didn’t you find it odd that I was talking when I was in the closet?”

“I…” she stumbled verbally, staring at the rat who was still searching its body. “I… I… I was distraught,” She finally managed with a firm nod of her head. “Besides” she said, “I could’ve been delusional…” she broke off with a frown. “Are you looking for something?”

It looked up at her blankly for a second before continuing its search. “As a matter of fact, I am.”

“Anything I can help you with?”

“My glasses,” it said. “I seem to have misplaced my glasses.”

“Your glasses,” she repeated dubiously.

It scowled up at her irritably. “Yes my glasses.”

She sat down in the nearest seat with a thud. “And why do you need glasses?” she asked, rubbing her temple and sighing.

“To see of course,” it said. “Very bad vision you know.”

“Uh huh…” Ana mentally counted back and tried to remember how many drinks she had consumed. Not many.

“Ah ha!” it practically squealed with joy as it produced a tiny pair of spectacles from the mass of brown fur. It settled them on its pointy nose and secured the wires behind its ears. “Much better,” it said adjusting their position, significantly more cheerful then before. “Now then, what were we chatting about again?”

OOC: Dala are you TRYING to make me fall off my chair? Good lord, that was hilarious :lol   and art, OH ART! I didn’t make the mountains… merely put the tavern on the very tippy top. Wouldn’t want regular (fill in the blank) just wandering in here no would we? ;)   *smirks and slinks off to her post*

---------------------------

Mean while, back in the tavern: (cheesy 60’s batman music) (Holy Hotcakes Batman!)(…Shut up Robin)

“NOOOO!” Ana jumped up from her chair, knocking the poor piece of furniture to the floor, and jumped several others in her desperate dash to stop the advancing catastrophe. Walter froze, his hand mere inches… erm… mere… Nailsbreadths away from the closet doorknob. He stared at the crazy woman approaching him at top speed with an expression much like that of a scared deer in headlights. Throwing herself between him and the wooden door Ana mentally congratulated herself getting there in time- the result had she not could have been cataclysmic- Suddenly, the sounds of fire and screaming souls filled the air from somewhere above the ceiling as a booming voice spoke: and fire woulde raine downe from the heavens as the earthe splits and blackens… Oh! The soules of men will tremble and flee before the eternale blaze of Helle! Then, the Sins of men will clap their broade wings high above the fires, and sail rejoicing in the floode of Death!

From inside the closet and cough could be heard, then a deep scratchy voice. “Really, dear,” the voice said. “I think that was a touch too dramatic. Don’t you agree?” It coughed again. “And that last bit sounded suspiciously like William Blake. Cheater.”

Walter, regaining motion once again, blinked at the panting woman as she threw herself theatrically across the door. “What in blazes are you doing?”

She struggled to catch her breath. “Must… keep… door… closed… at… all… times…” she managed to spit out, ignoring the voice from within.

“Why on earth not?” he asked. “There’s supplies in there I need!”

“Why not?” she repeated, looking taken aback. “Why not!” She grabbed him by the shirt and continued her rant. “Because there’s a rat the size of dragon in there!”

The voice in the closet coughed again. “Don’t you think that’s a big of an exaggeration? I mean seriously, if I was as big as a dragon, I doubt I would even fit in this tiny closet.”

She clung to Walter’s shirt desperately. “If we let him out, he could kill us all and eat us for breakfast! Or maybe just an evening snack!”

Walter, looking a bit frightened- though not of the aspect of a killer rat- gently removed her hands from his shirt. “Um… I think you’ve had too much to drink m’dear. Maybe you should go back and sit with your friends.”

“She’s a terrible lightweight,” the voice in the closet said, matter-of-factly. “Only one drink and look- she’s already hysterical.”

Ana grinned up at Vir and Aylix before jumping up and hugging both till they protested for air. Motioning to empty chairs at her table, she couldn’t help but grin again. “By the gods its good to see you again!” she said, her notorious accent strangely missing. “You don’t know how long I’ve wished to be in present company again,” she said, returning to her own chair and taking a gulp from her glass. Suddenly, her eyes narrowed and she motioned for the others to lean in closer. “Whatever you do,” she said, in a loud stage whisper, “Don’t open the closet.” At their shocked expressions, she only nodded and patted their hands. “Trust me on that one.”

She vaguely wondered if she was drunk already. Surely one glass wouldn’t make her tipsy… would it?

She pushed the thought from her mind. “Eh, Walter!” she called to the bartender. “Drinks for my friends!”

“Aye dearie,” he said, picking up two new glasses. “And what’ll you two be havin’?” He asked the newcomers pleasantly. However, before they could answer him, a flash of light from the deck suddenly made the dim room burst with gilded light. Walter nearly dropped the glass he was holding. “By gods, what on earth was that?”

Ana looked up from her drink and regarded the open door. She cocked her head, listening. “Xarl,” she stated matter-of-factly. “No one else I know that talks to themselves.”

Since I’m bored, and well… lets face it- devilish at heart, >D  I have decided that we don’t have conversations around here like we once did.
I don’t know why, though I suppose if any of my fellow Santharians are like me, you’re finding that RL can really squeeze your free time. So, after succumbing to boredom, I read new threads, old threads, and ancient threads… *sigh*… ah the good ol’ days. Where has all the fun gone? I miss the tavern thread…. I miss.. *Looks around nervously*.. umm maybe it’d be better not to say. :D

But, that said (or not…) - I propose a new thread: (though I’m afraid God only knows what I’m about to write… wait- scratch that, reverse it… no he doesn’t… ;)  )

*ahem*

*several seconds of silence pass*

oh yeah… here it comes

Pretty Picture

The trill of an unseen songbird drifted through the forest, rising sweetly on the honeyed breath of spring’s gentle breeze. With the disappearance the long winter’s snows, the forest had come alive practically overnight. In the quite shade of the budding forest trees, a single darkened building stood- a lone testament to man’s existence on the treacherous slopes of the lofty mountains.

She paused, her lungs bursting and her legs aching from the long upward climb, and gazed at the abandoned tavern. It filled her simultaneously with a series of fond memories of friends and laughter and with a dull sadness at times lost and almost forgotten. With her stereotypical stubbornness, she pushed the ache aside and hefted her pack with sweaty hands, continuing her ascent.

Once in the blessed shade of the budding trees once more, she let the bag she had been carrying drop to the leaf strewn deck with a heavy thump. Wiping the slick sweat from her forehead with the back of her dirty hand, she regarded the door, with its rusted hinges and lock, her lips pursing as she contemplated the best method of opening the said door. After a careful search of the innards of her pack proved that she had, in fact, forgotten to grab her trusty sledge hammer; she found herself at a standstill.

She wrinkled her nose. What she would give at this moment for a minute of Xarl’s magical powers or maybe even Drogo’s strength…. Wait a second… was she not the same Amazon that kicked that same barbarian’s butt? After that, the rusted lock never stood a chance. Though, in fairness’ sake- it was very rusted and gave way to her boot easily.

Picking up her bag and hefting it over her shoulder, she tentatively peeked inside. Despite that it was rather dark and smelled a bit like moldy beer and candle wax, she deemed it to be at least still inhabitable. She sidestepped overturned tables and chairs, making her way to the bar carefully while her eyes adjusted. Suddenly, a dusty glass that had been left on a table toppled to the floor. She dropped her bag and turned immediately in the direction of the sound. Her bravery was instantly dissolved, however, when the source of the disruption proved to be a very large rat. She squealed and jumped atop a nearby chair, almost sending the poor piece of furniture crashing to the floor in her haste. She watched the filthy beast with wary eyes until it disappeared into the closet, which she promptly slammed shut and locked.

Crisis over, she laughed to herself and mentally sent up a prayer to Ava that the others weren’t present for her show of cowardliness - she’d never live it down if, say, Capher had seen.

Five hours later, the tavern was dirt and cobweb free, with the tables in their proper places and chairs in their upright positions once more. She surveyed her handiwork, pleased with the result. One eyebrow raised. Oh yeah… with a snap of her fingers, barrels of ale suddenly appeared behind the counter- along with candles on every table and fresh clean glasses lining the shelves. She frowned. Something was missing….

With another snap a large burly man was abruptly present. He looked around, his eyes wide with amazement. When they came to her, they widened even more. “Where am I?” He asked.

She cocked her head. “A tavern.”

“Why?”

“Because you work here.”

“I do?”

“Yes.”

Several seconds of silence passed as he took those facts in. “What do I do?” he asked.

“You’re the bartender.”

“Oh.” He looked around the place again. “Then I suppose I should be getting work, eh?”

She only nodded and motioned to the now-clean counter. He stood up and slowly walked over to it, his big hands caressing the worn wood. Picking up a clean towel, he busied himself by polishing the glasses. Satisfied, she settled herself at a nearby table, propping her booted feet up on another chair. Suddenly, the bartender looked up at her. “Um… excuse me, lady-“ he blushed. “But do I have a name?”

She thought about this. “Walter.”

“My name’s Walter?”

She nodded, feeling tired. She wasn’t used to all this snapping.

“Well then,” he said, looking considerably brighter and more intelligent. “What’ll it be?”

“A beer please Walter.”

“Coming right up, missy.”

While Walter got her beer and adjusted himself to his new identity, she repositioned herself so that she could see out the door.

Anaea waited. She knew they’d been here soon….

Anaea tries to hug everyone back at once, but the weight of many people hanging from her neck and two shoulder pets proves to be too much. She falls backward with a bark of laughter…

:lol  I missed all of you very VERY much. In fact, it was missing you that brought me back… or at least sorta- someone said something the other day and I thought to myself, that sounds like something Xarl would have said. So here I am! :)  all smiles and ready to go!

Rayne: <hugs her back> <looks at the ceruball, confused> yep.. must read the missed entries soon.. ;)

Xarl: <returns the giant hug with much enthusiasm> I promise never to do that again. Ever.

Viresse: <Hugs her back till she’s practically blue> I don’t think I did know about the poem- but wow! That’s awesome! And see… some people thought I was going a little too into depth with writing a language! Thank you m’dear for proving them wrong.

Dala: <gives another blue-faced hug> so the it was just the usual usual eh? So I didn’t miss that much.. though am greatly disappointed I missed the fun. <winks at Dala> We’ll have to throw another one soon with lots of drunken bloodletting and sailor contests

Quegon: well thanks for liking the work, and you sound like Capher with that statement! :lol  don’t worry, I plan on digging up those works and resuming.

Faugar: <Throws him a huge hug> I can always count on you for a compliment! :lol

Aylix: <hugs him back> yeah! I’ll promise to ‘let your blood’ when the party starts! Hehe ;)

Artemis: don’t worry- I’d be glad to share Aeruillian- it was never mine to begin with actually.. I had only suggested that I wanted to work on it more. And of course your tribe can stay! Silly girl! Diversity is wonderful! Don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll have lots of fun working together..

Judith: <hugs her with the hug of blue-faced death> thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you for the poem!!!! It was beautiful as always! <sniff> btw- I wonder if our rpg is still up… hmm.. probably not :(

Talia: <throws a giant hug> :lol - I’m glad I was in your thoughts, the card was always sweet- but don’t worry.. though I should say here if you do decide to send it- my address has changed..  (yeah- moved into my first apartment!)

Greybark: GREYBARK!! Thanks- and its good to see you back too! Last I knew you were still out on marital leave! ;)

Winlok: <hugs him hard> you were probably still hung over from the last party win- ;)  :lol

Art: ah- thanks to art for getting straight to the point and answering a few of my questions before I could even answer them! ;)  and art’s right artemis- we can share- and lets hear it for team power!
Erm… sorry ‘bout that.. :D - got a little carried away. :lol
