Nice to meet you Seeker. Thank you for the complement. Glad you like my Fuzzle, its the only one I actually wrote also. The rest were only illustrations for friends entries. I think the one I am most proud of is the one I did for Drasil. It was my first and definitely the most difficult. I learned a lot from The Sage, The Bard and Talia. I originally found this site looking to do some creative writing and instead would be inspired by others writing to do some drawing. Coming back I find this to still be true. I have already read a few and thinking, wow what would that look like. But alas no matter how inspired I still do not have the time. I have come across a few of yours. They are quite nice. Your style fits in very well.
Yes, I had not realized how long it's been. I had some spare time and thought I will see what has been going on in Santharia. I started reading the compendium, just clicked on one after another reading and to my surprise I came across an entry that had used my fuzzle. I was shocked and absolutely delighted. I came across many new names and wondered how many of my old friends might still be here. I see there is a new artist by the name of Seeker doing some wonderful pictures. I don't know about contributing as I still seem to stay quite busy but maybe a comment occasionally. If that's okay. I do hope to catch up on some reading.
After a long absence Drucilla returns quietly to the compendium where she once spent so many hours. She opened the old books and smiled remembering. And she read through new ones amazed at the new people, places and things that she had not yet discovered in all her traveling through the world. She threw back the hood of her cloak and looking around, smiled, delighted by what she found here.
Bard Judith, I am so impressed. I love this picture. The birds in the air are almost dove like but the one in the front, what a predator. The only thing I don't like about him is he is hiding a very nice part of the landscape. Your water looks magical and the shadows and death of the land there is very nice. The waterfall could use a rethink, I think. Water falls straight down unless something changes its direction. Your water seems to be twisting. I love the sky and the halo around the back peak. I'm not sure why the green in the snow though, maybe you could try a color from the water there. But I do love this picture it is very nice, very nice.
Hello all, it's nice to be remembered. I'm afraid I don't often have the time to come here or contribute, but i do look in when I get the chance. Its nice also to see the excellent new artists and that the illustrations are not being neglected. . If I get the chance I will be very happy to come back and do a few more pics. Until then keep up the good work.
Perhaps if the stream pebbles weren't so much one color, also the algae wouldn't grow just on the corners, try trailing it off in the other cracks as well, just little bits. Don't hide the design.
Sorry it took me so long to respond. Still haveing comp issues but i think I have them all worked out now. Thanks for the advice Judith. I'm afraid I won't be able to check that out until next year. I'm sure the price would be much higher here as I have paid more to have much simplier issues taken care of. But I do hope.
Thank you Art, that's is very kind and I appreciate it very much. I have copied what I found from here but it would be nice to have a couple that have some quality to them. I don't know what to do about the last two pictures I was still working on for here. I copied them but they are blurry and small and so far no resizing tricks or anything else has helped. If you liked the guard I could start over, my boy's been hinting at it anyway along with another one, it wouldn't be exactly the same but I could come close...maybe. I've never been one for drawing the same thing twice. As far as Drucilla goes...I don't know. I was writing the piece to go with the picture and now the picture's gone. All my notes gone. I know that everything you put into a computer stays in there reguardless but I don't have the skill and to be honest I don't know where to find a tech with that kind of skill.
On the up side I was able to download Gimp successfully and am itching to use it again.
I had the operating system backed up. I did that when I first got the computer and was setting everything up but then I got lazy and haven't backed up anything for almost a year, and that's everything I was working on for here. Thoughts, notes, bits and pieces that I copied from here and there so I wouldn't forget. I mean I had to come here to get a copy of Boldsnout, how lame is that? I bet I had fifteen versions of him, now just one. Sad thing is nobody else useing this computer had backed up either so we're all in one sunk boat.
Remember I said I was having computer issues? Well, it's all gone!!! Everything I was working on, layers, pictures, everything! Without a chance for backup. I am so broken hearted. Anything I had n't posted...gone. Whaaaaaa! Alll the things I had saved...gone. Whaaaa!!! It's like somebody took a match and set fire to all my favorite things. People back up now, no matter how much you love your computer, it can turn on you. Take the time to back up your stuff.
Drucilla’s childhood 1630- ? Drucilla Sablewolffe was born the only child to a very unique couple. Her father was a fairly successful Kuglimz trader whose mother was a Fird'gormz and father was a Trk’matiu. Her mother was an Eyelian whose family were also merchants. Her Trk’matiu grandfather was an extremely ambitious trader and her parents met when he had travelled south insearch of some hard to find items that were promised too make a nice profit. There was an instant attraction between the two and when it was time to move on Drucilla's father stayed behind. Her Eyelian grandparents were not happy with the union and so her parents left and took to what her father was most experienced at and qualified for, trading.
They were quite the odd couple. Her father a large light skinned redhead, her mother small and dark. Their little travelling caravan took on quite an odd appearance too. Taking on the characteris ts of two different tribes and eventually a life of its own.
In the beginning, what her parents refer to as the pull cart days, her parents travelled with a small pull cart buying and selling things as they travelled from village to village. Both her parents were good at bartering and successful and about the same time that the pull cart was busting at the seams so was Drucillas mother. So with some persuasive bartering by her father the pull cart days turned into the one wagon days.
Drucillas mother was not on the best of terms with her parents but with the baby coming she wanted to go back home. Drucilla was born on the road to Eyelia. They eventually made it back to her mothers village but the stay was even shorter than her father thought it would be. All was a happy reunion at first but it wasn’t long before her mother and grandparents started arguing about her mothers choices and they were back on the road.
This time they were headed up north to her fathers people. Not an easy task since his parents travelled also. They ran into each other in New Santhala and made the trip to the Celeste Mountains together.
Thanks for commenting. Sorry for being slow but I am having time and computer issues right now. Hope you’re having fun settling into your new home. Congratulations! The comments helped, I will be working on them for awhile.
Alysse, thanks too, I have an idea finally. I’m not sure how to work it in yet but it should solve some of the problems.
Okay, here’s an idea, just trying to help. Perhaps pick 3 judges (no ties) that have the most varied expertise. Judges cannot nominate. Have a thread where nominations can be made (not your own) and the mods could collectively narrow it down to an appropriate number to be submitted to the judges. That way the mods could be nominated and not be the only one judging their work, plus put in the rule that you can’t vote for yourself. That way everyone including the judges can fairly be included.
1.Open nominations- not yourself- anyone can submit and second (the more seconds the better for influencing the mods) again not your own and not twice from the same person. This way everyone can at least be heard about what they like. Mods can nominate.
2.Mods narrow it down to ?#. I’m thinking 3. Again not voting on their own and collectively in all categories. Also if a mod is chosen as judge then that mod would be excluded from this process.
3.Submissions go to judges- (with a two to one vote they can still win.)
Judges would be picked or voted on by members only. Just to make it simpler.
This would be a lot more work for the mods since they would have to look at all the nominations and not just their specialty. So they may not like this idea and of course everyone would have to be patient with them during this process. If it were too overwheming maybe divide into two groups so not all mods had to look over all entries. Also put a time limit on nominations.
Just a suggestion on how everyone could fairly be included. Since I know our mods have done exceptional entries it would not be right to have them excluded. Also the newbies could get their two sans in while the ultimate decision rest with more knowledgeable senior members.
Well Irid it's now 2 to2. I read it on the 5th and only Drasil had commented and I was unsure if the changes were already made or not because I didn't feel you had used his name too often at all. You already had enough unnamed people and I hate it when there are so many (the man)s that you get confused. IMHO the main characters should stay main.
Now I would like to say I enjoyed chapter 2. I just hope chapter 3 doesn't take as long.
