That is an excellent beginning! Well, more than that. It could nearly go on the site as it is. I have only one „concern“. It sounds in some parts too much like a biology book. We do have such entries on the site, but try to avoid it in the future. I‘m not a native English speaker, so I could be wrong in some cases, but these are the expressions/words I would avoid. (Always think, would an educated monk or other herbalist in the 12th century express it like this? Does he know the word erosion? Or vascular tissue ? I think he would just say „..wiry stems that possess a cylindric shape where the water moves up..“ And then - do they know already that water rises in the grasses or trees like this? Do they think about it? Maybe)
predominant form of vegetation potential height of 4 fores (where it can grow up to..) erosion a cylinder of vascular tissue .....
I think you know, what I mean?
You have some very nice descriptive parts in it and I like especially the myth!
Coren, I 'm just about to do such an nice entry thread like Art did for places and thought I may add a link to a thread where I list all unfinished work or other interesting discussions so I can find them when i look for them. Just look at the cosmol. forum, I have started already some time ago and will add not only discussions which will never make it on the site, but unfinished entries as well. And I will add a link/thread called "moderator's notebook" where I simply collect all things which need to be done.
We don't have clerical spells at all! The one on the site should have been removed or rewritten , even without the general concept finished for the site.
Sorry Elder, clerical magic is rewritten and not yet on the site.
Our (profan) magical system is very different from any other and original, an invention of our webmaster. Better sketch a Ximaxian spell first and ask, if your idea works before you invest too much time.
Ok, I thought you wanted to discuss here only the idea/scheme of the masterplan itself, not collect things for the Manthria masterplan. Maybe you could do two threads? One for adding ideas to the scheme/idea of the masterplan (if you intended this) and one for Manthria specifically? And for any other masterplan which might come up? (Nybelmar f.e.)
Apart from that, hat masterplan concept is great.
Proposal person's entry: The current King Tiandor
Actually i started already. However, it is not so easy to do it alone. I have the help of Judy and Alysse of course, but I would like to propose the following:
Once the current team project about currency etc is done or on the way, we start a new one: "Achievements of the current king and his predecessors - what was invented in the last 50 years or something like this.
However, I want to have (along with Judy and Alysse) the last word on what exactly he has done etc, about things which concern mainly him, for i fear that there will be many contrary opinions that we will never come to an end. We three will finally decide about the king himself (including history) and pick out of the proposals what we think fits best. Of course the finished submission will be open to more comments as well.
Rakshiri, I agree with ( I think) all you have written above, it is unfortunately true. I fear however, that torture nowadays is as cruel as it was in the middle ages, we just don‘t know it or look away.
However, the question is - has it be this way in modern Santharia as well? I think it would be cool to try out another way - the way Alysse described it with our modern and highly intellectual King Tiandor and his great ancestors we could really try to develop another direction punishment could take - with the idea in the background: what is the best for society. I would find this much more rewarding than just copying medieval torture practises or develop our own! Punishment developed as a consequence fitting to the crime.
Apart from that and what I think is much more important: We can have torture on Caelereth, legal and illegal, and we surely had it, especially in times of war. BUT, I don‘t think is is needed to describe it in detail NOR list it up. You can well talk about torture, that it was applied and that it was cruel beyond any imagination - but there is no need to paint it vividly with words.
We always talk about that we are a site where young people come and look and that we should consider what we put up. I think that writing and uploading such entries would not be conform with this, even if the newbie who want to write up such stuff are kids (12+) themselves. I know that the torture rooms in old castles are very popular, but we don‘t need to live this out here, don‘t we?
(I‘m talking now about these medieval practises and similar things, not the psychological of our time, though of course I don‘t want to have them described either.)
